In this paper, we introduce the control system design,including human–machine interfaces, alarm system, historical data archiving system, and the software for access control. The software development followed the standard of Capability Maturity Model Integration(CMMIò) Level3, and the software had passed a third-party test, which indicated that the functionality and the reliability could fulfill the requirements of the radiation protection system.展开更多

The software for PLC and microcontroller are written with ladder software package and assemble language, respectively. In this paper, based ...Considered as a top priority of industrial devel- opment, Industry 4.0 (or Industrie 4.0 as the German ver- sion) has being highlighted as the pursuit of both academy and practice in companies. In this paper, based on the review of state of art and also the state of practice in dif- ferent countries, shortcomings have been revealed as the lacking of applicable framework for the implementation of Industrie 4.0. Therefore, in order to shed some light on the knowledge of the details, a reference architecture is developed, where four perspectives namely manufacturing process, devices, software and engineering have been highlighted. Moreover, with a view on the importance of Cyber-Physical systems, the structure of Cyber-Physical System are established for the in-depth analysis. Further cases with the usage of Cyber-Physical System are also arranged, which attempts to provide some implications to match the theoretical findings together with the experience of companies. In general, results of this paper could be useful for the extending on the theoretical understanding of Industrie 4.0. Additionally, applied framework and proto- types based on the usage of Cyber-Physical Systems are also potential to help companies to design the layout of sensor nets, to achieve coordination and controlling of smart machines, to realize synchronous production with systematic structure, and to extend the usage of information and communication technologies to the maintenance scheduling.展开更多
Gradual increase in the number of successful attacks against Industrial Control Systems(ICS)has led to an urgent need to create defense mechanisms for accurate and timely detection of the resulting process anomalies.T...Gradual increase in the number of successful attacks against Industrial Control Systems(ICS)has led to an urgent need to create defense mechanisms for accurate and timely detection of the resulting process anomalies.Towards this end,a class of anomaly detectors,created using data-centric approaches,are gaining attention.Using machine learning algorithms such approaches can automatically learn the process dynamics and control strategies deployed in an ICS.The use of these approaches leads to relatively easier and faster creation of anomaly detectors compared to the use of design-centric approaches that are based on plant physics and design.Despite the advantages,there exist significant challenges and implementation issues in the creation and deployment of detectors generated using machine learning for city-scale plants.In this work,we enumerate and discuss such challenges.Also presented is a series of lessons learned in our attempt to meet these challenges in an operational plant.展开更多

The personnel safety system (PSS), which is a personnel access control system, is a crucial part of the HLS-Ⅱ, as it protects the staff and users at HLS-Ⅱfrom radiation damages. The prior version of HLS-Ⅱ PSS was based on an access control system called SiPass. This lacked the personnel management function. Meanwhile, as the prior PSS is a turn-key system, it was not effective for sharing information. To overcome these drawbacks, the novel design of PSS for HLS-Ⅱ is proposed based on the Siemens redundant programmable logic controller under the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System. The proposed PSS consists of a safety interlock system, access control system, and a radiation monitoring system. The safety interlock system is used to define the interlock logic. The access control system is designed to restrict the access of staff and users at HLS-Ⅱ, and to provide a personnel management function. The radiation monitoring system is used to monitor the radiation dose rate in both the light source and the surrounding areas. This paper details the architecture and the specific design of the novel PSS. The off-line test results demonstrate that the proposed system has achieved the design objectives.展开更多
Environment parameters are the main factors affecting the growth and development of Agaricus bisporus.Because of the requirements of environmental conditions for high-efficiency industrialized production of Agaricus b...Environment parameters are the main factors affecting the growth and development of Agaricus bisporus.Because of the requirements of environmental conditions for high-efficiency industrialized production of Agaricus bisporus,equipments for environment control were developed.Based on the variable operating equipment,a multi-factor fuzzy controller was designed to realize the comprehensive control of ambient temperature,humidity,CO2 concentration,and the temperature and moisture of the compost.The test results showed that the temperature control error was less than±0.5°C and the response speed was more than 0.5°C/h;The control error of ambient humidity was less than±2%RH,and the response speed was more than 9%RH per hour;The moistures at different points in compost ranged from 50%to 70%with a standard deviation of 4.04.The control accuracy of environmental CO2 concentration was within 200μmol/mol.The overall performance of the control system was stable and reliable,which could meet the requirements of environment factors for the growth of Agaricus bisporus.The system can provide technical support and reference for the automatic and precise control of the environment during the industrialized production of Agaricus bisporus.展开更多
A new X-ray absorption fine structure(XAFS)data-collection system based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System software environment has been established at the BL14W1 beamline of the Shanghai Synchr...A new X-ray absorption fine structure(XAFS)data-collection system based on the Experimental Physics and Industrial Control System software environment has been established at the BL14W1 beamline of the Shanghai Synchrotron Radiation Facility. The system provides for automatic sequential analysis of multiple samples for continuous high-throughput(HT) measurements. Specifically, 8 sample pellets are loaded into an alumina holder,and a high-precision two-dimensional translation stage is programmed to switch these samples automatically for collecting the XAFS spectrum of each sample in sequence.Experimenters implement HT measurements via a graphical user interface developed with Control System Studio.Finally, the successful operation of the HT XAFS system is demonstrated by running experiments on two groups of copper–ceria catalysts, each of which contains 8 different powder samples.展开更多
This note addresses diagnosis and performance degradation detection issues from an integrated viewpoint of functionality maintenance and cyber security of automatic control systems.It calls for more research attention...This note addresses diagnosis and performance degradation detection issues from an integrated viewpoint of functionality maintenance and cyber security of automatic control systems.It calls for more research attention on three aspects:(i)application of control and detection uni ed framework to enhancing the diagnosis capability of feedback control systems,(ii)projection-based fault detection,and complementary and explainable applications of projection-and machine learning-based techniques,and(iii)system performance degradation detection that is of elemental importance for today's automatic control systems.Some ideas and conceptual schemes are presented and illustrated by means of examples,serving as convincing arguments for research e orts in these aspects.They would contribute to the future development of capable diagnosis systems for functionality safe and cyber secure automatic control systems.展开更多
