Carex planostachys is found in arid and semi-arid Juniperus woodlands. Arid conditions impose survival challenges to plants in dry areas. Some plants have plasticity responses to soil water content and continued normal though reduced functions through droughts, but most herbaceous plants do not survive. Limited previous studies have suggested C. planostachys is tolerant of drought. Physiological responses of C. planostachys from Juniperus woodlands was examined is this study to determine how long plants could survive without water and if they are capable of recovery from very negative water potentials beyond what is considered the permanent wilting point for most herbaceous plants. Plants were placed in pots in partial shade in this experiment. Water loss from the soil with plants was an inverse 2nd order polynomial function with soil water decreasing from 32% to 8% by day 28 of the study. Leaf water potential was also an inverse 2nd order polynomial function but did not decline significantly until 14 days without watering. Leaf water potential was −10.0 MPa after 35 days without watering. Non-watered plants Anet, (photosynthetic rate) was significantly lower compared to the water treatment by day 21 as was stomatal conductance and transpiration. When non-watered plants were watered after 21, 28 or 35 days, full recovery of physiological responses occurred within 7 days. The length of time that C. planostachys was able to withstand drought was greater than the annual trends in lack of precipitation during springtime in this area. Carex planostachys can photosynthesize at water stress between −8 and −10 MPa. Carex planostachys drought and shade tolerance enables it to occupy an understory niche devoid of other herbaceous plants.展开更多

However, the distribution, reservoir characterization, and exploration potential of organic-rich shales in this area are yet to be quantified, thus limiting the prospect of shale gas in this area. This study investigates the basic geological conditions of Jiusi shale gas, using core data, well-logs, and some other test data, obtaining the following results. The organic-rich shales are mainly composed of deltaic-to-shallow-shelf deposits, with thickness ranging from 0 to 450 m, and above 350 m around the subsidence center. The organic matter is mainly type Ⅱ kerogen with TOC content of mostly 1%–2%, indicating a moderate maturity. The argillaceous shale reservoirs are indicative of strong heterogeneity, high clay minerals content, low porosity, low permeability, high specific surface area, and relatively developed secondary porosity. The gas-log anomaly intervals obtained from the survey wells have a cumulative thickness that is apparently greater than 200 m, and a few shale intervals showing high desorbed and adsorbed gas contents. Due to complex structures in the study area, conditions responsible for shale gas occurrence and trapping are generally moderate. However, areas having wide and gentle folds with moderate depth of burial reveals relatively favorable conditions of hydrocarbon traps. In contrast with typical marine-continental transitional shales, the Jiusi shale have better geological conditions for shale gas preservation. The analysis of the geological framework and hydrocarbon potential of Carboniferous Jiusi Formation provide more insight for the exploration of Carboniferous shale gas in southern China.展开更多

文摘This study predicts favorable oil and gas source-rock formation conditions in the Aryskum Depression of the South Turgay Basin,Kazakhstan. This study assesses the thermal maturity and characteristics of organic matter by determining its environmental conditions using data from geochemical analysis of core(pyrolysis)and oil(biomarkers and carbon isotopic compositions)samples.According to the geochemical parameters obtained by pyrolysis, the oil generation potential of the original rocks of most studied samples varies from poor to rich. The facies–genetic organic matter is predominantly humic and less frequently humus–sapropel, indicating organic matter accumulation in the studied samples were under moderately reducing conditions(kerogenⅢand Ⅱ types)and coastal–marine environments(kerogen typeⅠ).The carbon isotopic compositions of oils derived from the Jurassic deposits of the Aryskum Depression also indicate the sapropelic and mixed humic–sapropelic type of organic matter(kerogenⅡandⅠ).Biomarker analysis of oils indicates original organic matter formation in an anoxic environment.

文摘Black shales are important products of material cycling and energy exchange among the lithosphere, atmosphere, hydrosphere, and biosphere. They are widely distributed throughout geological history and provide essential energy and mineral resources for the development of human society. They also record the evolution process of the earth and improve the understanding of the earth. This review focuses on the diagenesis and formation mechanisms of black shales sedimentation, composition, evolution, and reconstruction, which have had a significant impact on the formation and enrichment of shale oil and gas.In terms of sedimentary environment, black shales can be classified into three types:Marine, terrestrial, and marine-terrestrial transitional facies. The formation processes include mechanisms such as eolian input, hypopycnal flow,gravity-driven and offshore bottom currents. From a geological perspective, the formation of black shales is often closely related to global or regional major geological events. The enrichment of organic matter is generally the result of the interaction and coupling of several factors such as primary productivity, water redox condition, and sedimentation rate.In terms of evolution, black shales have undergone diagenetic evolution of inorganic minerals, thermal evolution of organic matter and hydrocarbon generation, interactions between organic matter and inorganic minerals, and pore evolution. In terms of reconstruction, the effects of fold deformation, uplift and erosion, and fracturing have changed the stress state of black shale reservoirs, thereby having a significant impact on the pore structure.Fluid activity promotes the formation of veins, and have changed the material composition, stress structure, and reservoir properties of black shales.Regarding resource effects, the deposition of black shales is fundamental for shale oil and gas resources, the evolution of black shales promotes the shale oil and gas formation and storage, and the reconstruction of black shales would have caused the heterogeneous distribution of oil and gas in shales.Exploring the formation mechanisms and interactions of black shales at different scales is a key to in-depth research on shale formation and evolution,as well as the key to revealing the mechanism controlling shale oil and gas accumulation. The present records can reveal how these processes worked in geological history, and improve our understanding of the coupling mechanisms among regional geological events, black shales evolution, and shale oil and gas formation and enrichment.

文摘To explore the geological characteristics and exploration potential of the Carboniferous Benxi Formation coal rock gas in the Ordos Basin, this paper presents a systematic research on the coal rock distribution, coal rock reservoirs, coal rock quality, and coal rock gas features, resources and enrichment.Coal rock gas is a high-quality resource distinct from coalbed methane, and it has unique features in terms of burial depth, gas source, reservoir, gas content, and carbon isotopic composition. The Benxi Formation coal rocks cover an area of 16×104km^(2),with thicknesses ranging from 2 m to 25 m,primarily consisting of bright and semi-bright coals with primitive structures and low volatile and ash contents, indicating a good coal quality. The medium-to-high rank coal rocks have the total organic carbon(TOC)content ranging from 33.49%to 86.11%,averaging75.16%.They have a high degree of thermal evolution(Roof 1.2%-2.8%),and a high gas-generating capacity. They also have high stable carbon isotopic values(δ13C1of-37.6‰to-16‰;δ13C2of-21.7‰to-14.3‰).Deep coal rocks develop matrix pores such as gas bubble pores, organic pores, and inorganic mineral pores, which, together with cleats and fractures, form good reservoir spaces. The coal rock reservoirs exhibit the porosity of 0.54%-10.67%(averaging 5.42%)and the permeability of(0.001-14.600)×10^(-3)μm^(2)(averaging 2.32×10^(-3)μm^(2)).Vertically,there are five types of coal rock gas accumulation and dissipation combinations, among which the coal rock-mudstone gas accumulation combination and the coal rock-limestone gas accumulation combination are the most important, with good sealing conditions and high peak values of total hydrocarbon in gas logging.A model of coal rock gas accumulation has been constructed, which includes widespread distribution of medium-to-high rank coal rocks continually generating gas, matrix pores and cleats/fractures in coal rocks acting as large-scale reservoir spaces, tight cap rocks providing sealing,source-reservoir integration, and five types of efficient enrichment patterns(lateral pinchout complex,lenses,low-amplitude structures,nose-like structures, and lithologically self-sealing).According to the geological characteristics of coal rock gas,the Benxi Formation is divided into 8 plays, and the estimated coal rock gas resources with a buried depth of more than 2000 m are more than 12.33×10^(12)m^(3).The above understandings guide the deployment of risk exploration. Two wells drilled accordingly obtained an industrial gas flow, driving the further deployment of exploratory and appraisal wells.Substantial breakthroughs have been achieved, with the possible reserves over a trillion cubic meters and the proved reserves over a hundred billion cubic meters, which is of great significance for the reserves increase and efficient development of natural gas in China.

文摘The Daqing exploration area in the northern Songliao Basin has great potential for unconventional oil and gas resources, among which the total resources of tight oil alone exceed 109 t and is regarded as an important resource base of Daqing oilfield. After years of exploration in the Qijia area,Songliao Basin,NE China, tight oil has been found in the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation. To work out tight oil’s geological characteristics, taking tight oil in Gaotaizi oil layers of the Upper Cretaceous Qingshankou Formation in northern Songliao Basin as an example, this paper systematically analyzed the geological characteristics of unconventional tight oil in Gao3 and Gao4 layers of the Qijia area, based on the data of the geological survey, well drilling journey, well logging, and test.It is that three sets of hydrocarbon source rocks(K2qn1,K2qn2+3,and K2n1)develop in the examined area, and exhibit excellent type I and II kerogens, high organic matter abundance, and moderate maturity. The reservoir is generally composed of thin-bedded mudstone, siltstone, and sandstone, and presents poor porosity(average 8.5 vol.%)and air permeability(average 4 mD).The main reservoir space primarily includes intergranular pores, secondary soluble pores, and intergranular soluble pores.Three types of orifice throats were identified, namely fine throat,extra-fine throat, and micro-fine throat. The siltstone is generally oil-bearing,the reservoirs with slime and calcium become worse oil-bearing,and the mudstone has no obvious oil-bearing characteristics. The brittleness indices of the sandstone in the tight oil reservoir range from 40%to 60%,and those of the mudstone range from 40%to 45%,indicating a better brittleness of the tight oil reservoir.Based on the study of typical core hole data, this paper gives a comprehensive evaluation of the properties of the tight oil and establishes a tight oil single well composite bar chart as well as the initial evaluation system with the core of properties in the tight oil reservoir. This study has theoretical guiding significance and practical application value for tight oil exploration and evaluation in the Qijia area.

文摘The Qiangtang Basin of the Tibetan Plateau, located in the eastern Tethys tectonic domain,is the largest new marine petroliferous region for exploration in China. The scientific drilling project consisting primarily of well QK-1 and its supporting shallow boreholes for geological surveys(also referred to as the Project)completed in recent years contributes to a series of new discoveries and insights into the oil and gas preservation conditions and source rock evaluation of the Qiangtang Basin. These findings differ from previous views that the Qiangtang Basin has poor oil and gas preservation conditions and lacks high-quality source rocks. As revealed by well QK-1 and its supporting shallow boreholes in the Project, the Qiangtang Basin hosts two sets of high-quality regional seals, namely an anhydrite layer in the Quemo Co Formation and the gypsum-bearing mudstones in the Xiali Formation. Moreover, the Qiangtang Basin has favorable oil and gas preservation conditions,as verified by the comprehensive study of the sealing capacity of seals, basin structure, tectonic uplift, magmatic activity, and groundwater motion.Furthermore, the shallow boreholes have also revealed that the Qiangtang Basin has high-quality hydrocarbon source rocks in the Upper Triassic Bagong Formation, which are thick and widely distributed according to the geological and geophysical data.In addition, the petroleum geological conditions, such as the type, abundance, and thermal evolution of organic matter, indicate that the Qiangtang Basin has great hydrocarbon-generating potential.

文摘To fully exploit the technical advantages of the large-depth and high-precision artificial source electromagnetic method in the complex structure area of southern Sichuan and compensate for the shortcomings of the conventional electromagnetic method in exploration depth, precision, and accuracy, the large-depth and high-precision wide field electromagnetic method is applied to the complex structure test area of the Luochang syncline and Yuhe nose anticline in the southern Sichuan. The advantages of the wide field electromagnetic method in detecting deep,low-resistivity thin layers are demonstrated.First,on the basis of the analysis of physical property data,a geological–geoelectric model is established in the test area, and the wide field electromagnetic method is numerically simulated to analyze and evaluate the response characteristics of deep thin shale gas layers on wide field electromagnetic curves.Second,a wide field electromagnetic test is conducted in the complex structure area of southern Sichuan. After data processing and inversion imaging, apparent resistivity logging data are used for calibration to develop an apparent resistivity interpretation model suitable for the test area.On the basis of the results, the characteristics of the electrical structure change in the shallow longitudinal formation of 6 km are implemented, and the transverse electrical distribution characteristics of the deep shale gas layer are delineated. In the prediction area near the well, the subsequent data verification shows that the apparent resistivity obtained using the inversion of the wide field electromagnetic method is consistent with the trend of apparent resistivity revealed by logging, which proves that this method can effectively identify the weak response characteristics of deep shale gas formations in complex structural areas. This experiment,it is shown shows that the wide field electromagnetic method with a large depth and high precision can effectively characterize the electrical characteristics of deep,low-resistivity thin layers in complex structural areas, and a new set of low-cost evaluation technologies for shale gas target layers based on the wide field electromagnetic method is explored.
文摘Carex planostachys Kunze (Cyperaceae, Cedar sedge) is an herbaceous species in a genus commonly inhabiting mesic or hydric habitats. Carex planostachys drought and shade tolerance enables it to occupy an understory niche devoid of other herbaceous plants.

文摘Sedimentary process research is of great significance for understanding the distribution and characteristics of sediments.Through the detailed observation and measurement of the Sangyuan outcrop in Luanping Basin, this paper studies the depositional process of the hyperpycnal flow deposits, and divides their depositional process into three phases, namely, acceleration, erosion and deceleration. In the acceleration phase, hyperpycnal flow begins to enter the basin nearby, and then speeds up gradually.Deposits developed in the acceleration phase are reverse. In addition, the original deposits become unstable and are taken away by hyperpycnal flows under the eroding force. As a result, there are a lot of mixture of red mud pebbles outside the basin and gray mud pebbles within the basin. In the erosion phase, the reverse deposits are eroded and become thinner or even disappear. Therefore,no reverse grading characteristic is found in the proximal major channel that is closer to the source, but it is still preserved in the middle branch channel that is far from the source. After entering the deceleration phase, normally grading deposits appear and cover previous deposits. The final deposits in the basin are special. Some are reverse, and others are normal. They are superimposed with each other under the action of hyperpycnal flow. The analysis of the Sangyuan outcrop demonstrates the sedimentary process and distribution of hyperpycnites, and reasonably explain the sedimentary characteristics of hyperpycnites. It is helpful to the prediction of oil and gas exploration targets in gravity flow deposits.

文摘The southwestern depression of the Qiongdongnan Basin(QDNB)hosts thick Cenozoic sediments and awaits major hydrocarbon discovery.Multichannel seismic(MCS)profile CFT2011 across the southwestern QDNB reveals a~60-km-wide fuzzy reflection zone(FRZ)within the sediments, but its origin and distribution remain unclear. Here ocean bottom seismometer(OBS)data of Line CFT2011 are processed with focus on the velocity structures by traveltime tomography inversion and analyzed together with the coincident and adjacent MCS profiles. The OBS velocity results show that the giant FRZ features lower velocity with difference up to 1.5 km/s and smaller vertical velocity gradient than the surrounding sedimentary sequences at the same depth, likely resulting from enhanced fluid infilling. The MCS profile exhibits that the giant FRZ is about 3-9-km thick and extends from the Paleogene strata rich in organic matters upward to the lower Pleistocene sediments.Within the shallow overlying sediments, multiple bright spots with reverse polarity are imaged and their reflection amplitudes increase with offset, consistent with the features of gas-charged sediments. They are probably shallow gas reservoirs with gases sourced from the deep FRZ.Therefore, the FRZ is proposed to be a giant gas-charged zone, which probably contains lots of hydrocarbon gases migrated vertically from the deep Paleogene source rocks through the boundary faults of the depressions and the minor fractures generated under overpressure. This FRZ is also imaged on the adjacent MCS profiles MCS-L1 and MCS-L2 with the width of about 40 km and 68 km,respectively. It is roughly estimated to cover an area of~1900 km2 and host a volume of~11400 km3 assuming an average thickness of 6 km,implying huge natural gas potential in the sedimentary depression of the southwestern QDNB of the South China Sea.

文摘Electrical properties are important physical parameters of natural gas hydrate, and, specifically, resistivity has been widely used in the quantitative estimation of hydrate saturation. There are three main methods to study the electrical properties of gas hydrate-bearing sediments:experimental laboratory measurements, numerical simulation, and resistivity logging.Experimental measurements can be divided into three categories:normal electrical measurement, complex resistivity measurement, and electrical resistivity tomography.Experimental measurements show that the resistivity of hydrate-bearing sediment is affected by many factors, and its distribution as well as the hydrate saturation is not uniform;there is a distinct non-Archie phenomenon. The numerical method can simulate the resistivity of sediments by changing the hydrate occurrence state, saturation, distribution, etc. However,it needs to be combined with X-ray CT,nuclear magnetic resonance, and other imaging techniques to characterize the porous characteristics of the hydrate-bearing sediments.Resistivity well logging can easily identify hydrate layers based on their significantly higher resistivity than the background, but the field data of the hydrate layer also has a serious non-Archie phenomenon. Therefore, more experimental measurements and numerical simulation studies are needed to correct the parameters of Archie’s formula.

文摘The global trends in deepwater oil and gas exploration, characteristics of deepwater oil and gas discovery, and layout of deepwater oil and gas exploration business by seven major international oil companies are systematically analyzed using commercial databases(e.g.S&P Global and Rystad)and public information of oil companies. The deepwater area is currently the most important domain for global oil and gas exploration and discovery, with the most discoveries and reserves in passive continental margin basins. The deepwater discoveries have the greatest contribution to the total newly discovered oil and gas reserves in the sea areas, with an increasing number of lithological reservoirs discovered, and oil and gas discoveries mainly distributed in the Mesozoic–Cenozoic. The seven major international oil companies are widely active in various aspects of deepwater oil and gas exploration and development, and play a leading role.Based on years of theoretical understanding of global oil and gas geology and resource evaluation,it is proposed that favorable deepwater exploration areas in the future will mainly focus on three major areas:the Atlantic coast, the Indian Ocean periphery, and the Arctic Ocean periphery.Six suggestions are put forward for expanding overseas deepwater oil and gas exploration business:first, expand the sources for obtaining multi-user seismic data and improve the scientific selection of deepwater exploration areas;second, increase efforts to obtain deepwater exploration projects in key areas;third, adopt various methods to access into/exit from resource licenses flexibly;fourth, acquire licenses with large equity and operate in“dual-exploration”model;fifth,strengthen cooperation with leading international oil companies in deepwater technology;and sixth, improve business operation capabilities and gradually transform from“non-operators”to“operators”.

文摘Conductor and suction anchor are the key equipment providing bearing capacity in the field of deep-water drilling or offshore engineering, which have the advantages of high operation efficiency and short construction period. In order to drill a horizontal well in the shallow hydrate reservoir in the deep water, the suction anchor wellhead assembly is employed to undertake the main vertical bearing capacity in the second round of hydrate trial production project,so as to reduce the conductor running depth and heighten the kick-off point position. However, the deformation law of the deep-water suction anchor wellhead assembly under the moving load of the riser is not clear, and it is necessary to understand the lateral bearing characteristics to guide the design of its structural scheme.Based on 3D solid finite element method, the solid finite element model of the suction anchor wellhead assembly is established. In the model, the seabed soil is divided into seven layers, the contact between the wellhead assembly and the soil is simulated, and the vertical load and bending moment are applied to the wellhead node to simulate the riser movement when working in the deep water. The lateral bearing stability of conventional wellhead assembly and suction anchor wellhead assembly under the influence of wellhead load is discussed. The analysis results show that the bending moment is the main factor affecting the lateral deformation of the wellhead string;the anti-bending performance from increasing the outer conductor diameter is better than that from increasing the conductor wall thickness;for the subsea wellhead, the suction anchor obviously improves the lateral bearing capacity and reduces the lateral deformation. The conduct of the suction anchor wellhead assembly still needs to be lowered to a certain depth that below the maximum disturbed depth to ensure the lateral bearing stability,Thus,a method for the minimum conductor running depth for the suction anchor wellhead assembly is developed. The field implementations show that compared with the first round of hydrate trial production project, the conductor running depth is increased by 9.42 m,and there is no risk of wellhead overturning during the trial production. The method for determining the minimum conductor running depth in this paper is feasible and will still play an important role in the subsequent hydrate exploration and development.

文摘Dark mudstones and shales of the Carboniferous Jiusi Formation are widely developed in northern Guizhou and Yunnan provinces, SW China. The analysis of the geological framework and hydrocarbon potential of Carboniferous Jiusi Formation provide more insight for the exploration of Carboniferous shale gas in southern China.

文摘Traditional suction anchor technology is mainly used in the fields of subsea structure bearing foundations,single-point mooring systems and offshore wind power. It is characterized by providing sufficient lateral and vertical bearing capacities and lateral bending moment. The anchor structure of a traditional suction anchor structure is improved with wellhead suction anchor technology, where a central pipe is added as a channel for drilling and completion operations. To solve the technical problems of a low wellhead bearing capacity, shallow built-up depth, and limited application of conductor jetting in the second production test of natural gas hydrates(NGHs)in the South China Sea(SCS),the China Geological Survey(CGS)took the lead in independently designing and manufacturing a wellhead suction anchor, which fulfilled the requirements of the production test. This novel anchor was successfully implemented in the second production test for the first time, providing a stable wellhead foundation for the success of the second production test of NGHs in the SCS.

文摘Natural gas hydrates(NGHs)are a new type of clean energy with great development potential. However,it is urgent to achieve safe and economical NGHs development and utilization. This study established a physical model of the study area using the FLAC^(3D) software based on the key parameters of the NGHs production test area in the South China Sea,including the depressurization method, and mechanical parameters of strata,NGHs occurrence characteristics, and the technological characteristics of horizontal wells. Moreover, this study explored the law of influences of the NGHs dissociation range on the stability of the overburden strata and the casing structure of a horizontal well. The results are as follows. With the dissociation of NGHs,the overburden strata of the NGHs dissociation zone subsided and formed funnelshaped zones and then gradually stabilized. However, the upper interface of the NGHs dissociation zone showed significant redistribution and discontinuity of stress.Specifically, distinct stress concentration and corresponding large deformation occurred in the build-up section of the horizontal well, which was thus prone to suffering shear failure. Moreover, apparent end effects occurred at the end of the horizontal well section and might cause the deformation and failure of the casing structure. Therefore,it is necessary to take measures in the build-up section and at the end of the horizontal section of the horizontal well to prevent damage and ensure the wellbore safety in the long-term NGHs exploitation.

文摘To obtain the characteristics of the gas hydrate reservoirs at GMGS3-W19,extensive geophysical logging data and cores were analyzed to assess the reservoir properties.Sediment porosities were estimated from density, neutron, and nuclear magnetic resonance(NMR)logs. Both the resistivity and NMR logs were used to calculate gas hydrate saturations, the Simandoux model was employed to eliminate the effects of high clay content determined based on the ECS and core data. The density porosity was closely in agreement with the core-derived porosity, and the neutron porosity was higher while the NMR porosity was lower than the density porosity of sediments without hydrates. The resistivity log has higher vertical resolution than the NMR log and thus is more favorable for assessing gas hydrate saturation with strong heterogeneity. For the gas hydrate reservoirs at GMGS3-W19,the porosity, gas hydrate saturation and free gas saturation was 52.7%,42.7%and 10%,on average, respectively. The various logs provide different methods for the comprehensive evaluation of hydrate reservoir, which supports the selection of candidate site for gas hydrate production testing.
