In this study, a P. lactiflora cultivar with doubl...Herbaceous peony(Paeonia lactiflora Pall.) is a famous flower with medicinal values, and its flowers have a number of medicinal constituents, especially flavonoids. In this study, a P. lactiflora cultivar with double colors including white outer-petal and yellow inner-petal was used as the experimental materials to perform the qualitative and quantitative analysis of flavonoids by high-performance liquid chromatograph-electrospray ionization-mass spectrometry(HPLC-ESI-MSn) and investigate the expression patterns of flavonoid biosynthetic genes using real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction(Q-PCR). The results showed that the colors of both petals gradually weakened with flower development. Moreover, one main anthocyanin composition(peonidin 3,5-di-O-glucoside) and five main anthoxanthin compositions(kaempferol di-hexoside, kaempferol-3-O-malonylglucoside-7-O-glucoside, quercetin-3-O-galactoside, luteolin-7-O-glucoside and isorhamnetin-3-O-glucoside) were found in the both, differing significantly in their peak areas only. Total anthocyanin, anthoxanthin and flavonoid contents in white outer-petal and yellow inner-petal gradually decreased during flower development, and were consistently higher in white outer-petal. Furthermore, the expression patterns of nine structural genes in P. lactiflora flavonoid biosynthetic pathway showed that the expression levels of phenylalanine ammonialyase gene(Pl PAL), chalcone synthase gene(PlC HS), flavanone 3-hydroxylase gene(PlF 3H), anthocyanidin synthase gene(PlA NS) and UDP-glucoside: flavonoid 5-O-glucosyltransferase gene(Pl F5GT) in two petals basically presented declined tendencies, and transcription levels of Pl PAL, Pl CHS, Pl ANS, Pl F3 GT and Pl F5 GT also tended to be higher in white outer-petal, which was correlated with their flavonoid contents. These results would lay a solid foundation for the exploration and utilization of flavonoid resources in P. lactiflora flowers.展开更多

In addition, the color types of leaf blades, kinds of pigments, pigment contents and pigment distributions of 6 kinds of plants were compared. [Result] The chlorophyl contents ranked as Populus canadensis Moench (green leaves) 〉 Populus deltoids cv. Zhonghuahongye (purple green leaves) 〉 Populus euramericana cv. Quanhong (red leaves); Acer palmatum Thunb. (green leaves) 〉 Acer palmatum cv. Atropurpureum (purple red leaves) 〉 Acer pal-matum Thunb. cv. Atropurpureum (red leaves). The ranking of anthocyanin contents was just opposite. The chlorophyl content was negatively related to the anthocyanin content. The leaf color of plants is determined by various pigments. The more the chlorophyl is, the greener the leaf is. The more the anthocyanin is, the redder the leaf is. In the colored-leaf plants, the chlorophyl content represents about 80% of the content of pigments, the carotenoids content represents about 17%, and the an-thocyanin represents about 3%. There is a difference in the chlorophyl content be-tween colored-leaf plants and green plants. The expression pattern of five genes(phy...The difference between lycopene and phytohormone levels among diploid, triploid and tetraploid plants of two watermelon cultivars during fruit growth and ripening was studied. The expression pattern of five genes(phytoene synthase(PSY1), phytoene desaturase(PDS), ζ-carotene desaturase(ZDS), carotenoid isomerase(CRTISO), and lycopene β-cyclase(LCYB)) was analyzed in details. In red-fleshed cultivar Mimei, lycopene content increased rapidly from 25 to 35 days after pollination(DAP), and then decreased at 40 DAP. Triploid and tetraploid fruit had higher levels of lycopene than diploid. Moreover, triploid tended to contain more lycopene than tetraploid during fruit growth and ripening stages. However, little amount of lycopene(0–2 mg kg–1 fresh weight(FW)) in yellow-fleshed cultivar Huangmei was found during all fruit development stages. In Mimei, transcript level of PSY1 was generally higher than the other four genes, and LCYB gene expression was the lowest among all five genes being tested. PSY1, CRTISO and LCYB genes showed higher transcript levels in polyploid than in diploid fruit. By contrast, in Huangmei, transcript level of LCYB was not the lowest, but only lower than that of PSY1. PSY1, CRTISO and LCYB genes showed higher expression levels in diploid than in polyploid fruit. In Mimei, the negative correlation between gibberellane(GA) content and lycopene accumulation was determined in all three different ploidy fruits, while a positive correlation was observed between abscisic acid(ABA) content and lycopene accumulation only in diploid watermelon. These results indicated that different lycopene contents in different ploidy watermelons is regulated by the differential transcription expression of the lycopene metabolic genes and phytohormones.展开更多

Architectural colors should be constructed from the 6 aspects, namely, conveying city spirit, coordinating the environment, showing regional characteristics, reflecting public concept, obtaining public sympathy, combining cultural connotations of color and functions of space. Moreover, the impact of regional culture on architectural color should be properly handled, the emotions of architecture for the city reflected on the surface of architecture, which can reverse the convergence of city images to some extent, and promote the diversity of regional humanistic architectural landscapes.展开更多
