It adopts a series of continual eye movements as input to perform simple control activities. Identification of eye movements is the crucial technology in these eye-based HCI systems. At present, researches on eye movement identification mainly focus on frontal face images. In fact, acquisition of non-frontal face images is more reasonable in real applications. In this paper, we discuss the identification process of eye movements from non-frontal face images. Firstly, the original head-shoulder images of 0?–±60?azimuths are sampled without any auxiliary light source. Secondly, the non-frontal face region is detected by using the Adaboost cascade classifiers. After that, we roughly extract eye windows by the integral projection function. Then, we propose a new method to calculate the x- y coordinates of the pupil center point by searching the minimal intensity value in the eye windows. According to the trajectory of the pupil center points, different eye movements(eye moving left, right, up or down)are successfully identified. A set of experiments is presented.展开更多

However, there are many difficulties with face recognition systems. For example, an imposter could Iogin the face recognition system by stealing the facial photograph of a person registered on the facial recognition system. The secudty of the face recognition system requires a live detection system to prevent system Iogin using photographs of a human face. This paper describes an effective, efficient face live detection method which uses physiological motion detected by estimating the eye blinks from a captured video sequence and an eye contour extraction algorithm. This technique uses the conventional active shape model with a random forest classifier trained to recognize the local appearance around each landmark. This local match provides more robustness for optimizing the fitting procedure. Tests show that this face live detection approach successfully discriminates a live human face from a photograph of the registered person's face to increase the face recognition system reliability.展开更多

Though there have been some progress in research, design and development of various emotional bio-robots, few of them can be used in practical applications. The study of emotional bio-robots demands multi-disciplinary co-operation. It involves computer science, artificial intelligence, 3D computation, engineering system modelling, analysis and simulation, bionics engineering, automatic control, image processing and pattern recognition etc. Among them, face detection belongs to image processing and pattern recognition. An emotional robot must have the ability to recognize various objects, particularly, it is very important for a bio-robot to be able to recognize human faces from an image. In this paper, a face detection method is proposed for identifying any human faces in colour images using human skin model and eye detection method. Firstly, this method can be used to detect skin regions from the input colour image after normalizing its luminance. Then, all face candidates are identified using an eye detection method. Comparing with existing algorithms, this method only relies on the colour and geometrical data of human face rather than using training datasets. From experimental results, it is shown that this method is effective and fast and it can be applied to the development of an emotional bio-robot with further improvements of its speed and accuracy.展开更多

People's life interface is disturbed with different shapes of contamination: natural disasters (floods, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and the other); on purpose or accidentally-different shapes like: wars, fires, chemical fates, using of dangerous materials in production processes and everyday life... In these mentioned specific conditions, breathing is imperiled, like the vital function of men's life and working interfaces. With the technical-technology progress, it is enclosed the development equipment for protection and safety of the respiratory parts of body, faces and eyes, regard to breathing apparatus. Applying the breathing apparatus, the total protection of the respiratory parts of the body, faces and eyes to aggressive materials, smoke and warmth is enabled. Today in the world there are many producers of breathing apparatus with similar technical-technological solutions, of which should be mentioned the main ones: MSA Auer, Dr/iger and Interspiro. Using of the breathing apparatus in practice, continual performation of different activities without consequences for the health and life of the user is enabled, what firstly depends on the user's education, regular using, controlling examination and maintenance/servicing.展开更多
