Nano-floating gate memory devices with ZnO nano-crystals as charge storage layers are fabricated,and the influence of post-deposition annealing temperature and thickness of the ZnO layer are investigated.Atomic force microscopy and scanning electron microscopy reveal the morphology of discrete ZnO nano-crystals.For capacitance-voltage measurements,it is found that the memory device with 1.5 nm ZnO and annealed at 700℃shows a larger memory window of 4.3 V(at±6 V)and better retention characteristics than memoriy devices with2.5 nm ZnO or annealed at other temperatures.These results indicate that the nano-floating gate memory with ZnO nano-crystals can obtain good trade-off memory properties. 展开更多

Chitosan biguanidine hydrochloride(CGH) has been synthesized by the guanidineylation reaction of chitosan with dicyandiamide.The structures of CGH were characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and 13CNMR spectra.In this paper,we used citric acid(CA) as a crosslinking agent,mixed with CGH to perform a pad-drycure treatment on wool fabric to study reaction mechanism during crosslinking with the help of Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) and scanning electron microscopy(SEM).Dyeing characteristics of CGH treated wool fabric was assessed.The effects of CGH concentration,curing temperature,dipping time,pH value on color yield of reactive dyes on wool fibres were investigated.Fastness properties of the modified wool fabric to laundering and crocking have also been discussed.Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR) showed that CA produce esterification with the-OH group of the wool and transamidation with the-NH2 group of the CGH to form a crosslink.Scanning electron microscopy(SEM) analysis showed the CGH firmly attached to the surface of wool fibre.It was found that the CGH pretreated wool fabrics had significantly improved dyeability characteristics.It is worthwhile to mention that the CGH treated samples have antibacterial potential due to the antibacterial property of chitosan molecules and guanidinium salts. 展开更多

A comprehensive literature review was performed to create an inventory of thermal-physiological quantities for fabrics from different fiber materials, material blends, and fabric structures. The goal was to derive over-arching concepts that cannot be seen by the individual studies alone. Equations of best fits suggest non-linear changes for fabric thickness, thermal and water-vapor resistance with changes in material blend ratio. Air permeability decreases with increasing fabric density and fabric weight wherein the degree of decrease differs among fabric materials, blend ratio, and fabric structure. Water-vapor transmission rates strongly depend on fabric thickness, material, and blend, but marginally depend on fabric structure as long as the fabric and material thickness remain the same. 展开更多

This Letter presents intrinsic Fabry–Perot interferometers in the fiber tapers fabricated by the femtosecond laser micromachining technique. The sensing of temperatures as high as 1000°C based on the fiber device is characterized, with a sensitivity of 15.28 pm∕°C. A nearly linear refractive index sensing is also obtained by using the fringe visibility to characterize, with a sensitivity of 73.05 dB∕RIU. These intrinsic Fabry–Perot interferometers in fiber tapers may be useful in applications of high-temperature and linear refractive index sensing. 展开更多

The effects of high drawing speeds on parameters of holey fibers are presented. A holey fiber preform structure was made by using tube-in-tube method and was drawn at high speeds with an aim of mass production to meet the demand of next generation communication systems. Transmission parameters such as numerical aperture and normalized frequency of the fabricated holey fibers have been measured and compared with theoretical values based on effective index method. Although the fabricated holey fibers were not of high quality, the analyses of the parameters have shown promising outlook for fabrication of such fibers. 展开更多
