Background:Damage to the skin and underlying tissues due to thermal burns is relevant.Despite the success of modern medicine,repairing thermal damage to the skin is a difficult task in reconstructive plastic surgery b...Background:Damage to the skin and underlying tissues due to thermal burns is relevant.Despite the success of modern medicine,repairing thermal damage to the skin is a difficult task in reconstructive plastic surgery because of the nature of the damage and the regenerative features.Characteristic post-burn changes are associated with different depths of damage when areas of deep damage are combined with more superficial areas.Methods:We described a clinical case of the staged surgical treatment of a cicatricial deformity of the buccalperiorbital-perioral region resulting from a childhood burn injury from a hot object.The 44-year-old patient complained of an aesthetic and functional deformity of the buccal-periorbital-perioral region and had previously undergone repeated nonsurgical corrections.Results:A comprehensive approach to the surgical treatment of a patient with post-burn deformities using a diplene adhesive membrane directly affected the stage of the surgical treatment and contributed to improved functional and aesthetic results.Conclusion:The positive treatment results with preserved contraction and relaxation processes of the facial muscles as well as satisfactory aesthetic results allow us to recommend the use of a biodegradable diplene film during facial reconstructive operations.展开更多
Background:Scar quality is affected by patients’wound healing conditions,trauma type,and skin features that differ due to ethnicity.Despite tremendous improvements in scar remodeling techniques,conspicuous scars can ...Background:Scar quality is affected by patients’wound healing conditions,trauma type,and skin features that differ due to ethnicity.Despite tremendous improvements in scar remodeling techniques,conspicuous scars can still remain postoperatively.Non-surgical methods used for handling scars include the use of topical corticosteroids,pressure therapy,lasers,and platelet-rich plasma(PRP).This study aimed to assess and evaluate different non-surgical modalities for treating immature facial scars.Methods:Fifteen patients with scars were included for non-surgical management.They received one or more of 5 treatments:corticosteroid injection,topical silicone gel application with or without bandage,pressure therapy,lasers,or PRP injection.Scars were assessed using the Patient and Observer Scar Assessment Scale(POSAS)and serial photographs.Results:There were no significant differences in the results obtained using POSAS.None of the patients required a secondary intervention or sought a second opinion.The rate of complications associated with the treatments were very minor.Conclusion:Good assessment of patient characteristics,proper planning,and appropriate treatment lead to favorable outcomes.展开更多
Aim:The author describes a new endoscopic midface lifting technique using solely temporal access and evaluates its advantages and perspectives.Methods:This is a single-surgeon case study.Through a short temporal incis...Aim:The author describes a new endoscopic midface lifting technique using solely temporal access and evaluates its advantages and perspectives.Methods:This is a single-surgeon case study.Through a short temporal incision,dissection is performed along a single plane connecting the superficial surfaces of both the facial and temporal superficial musculoaponeurotic system(SMAS)layers.Subsequent midface dissection divides the malar fat pad into the deeper and superficial parts.A new concept of a combination high malar SMAS lift and internal skin flap anchorage that provides long-term stability is described.Results:The temporal endoscopic midface(TEM)lift technique resulted in good objective results with high patient satisfaction.The temporal access allowed proper vertical vector correction of the sagging centro-facial structures.The resulting scar was inconspicuous and hidden in the hair bearing skin,and its length was measured between 5-6 cm.A conversion to the conventional long facial scar approach was completely avoided.Conclusion:The TEM lift is a new and effective procedure for facial rejuvenation,especially the midface and cheek.The results illustrate the importance of internal anchorage of both the midface SMAS and skin flap.These are the keys to long-lasting and pleasing results.The procedure is best suited for younger men and women with little or no neck skin laxity.展开更多

In this report,we aimed to summarize the nursing points of fasciocutaneous flap transplantation due to scar contracture caused by a large area of head and face scald.A 4-year-old girl suffered from wound bleeding,resp...In this report,we aimed to summarize the nursing points of fasciocutaneous flap transplantation due to scar contracture caused by a large area of head and face scald.A 4-year-old girl suffered from wound bleeding,respiratory tract edema,and vascular crisis and was transferred to the intensive care unit after flap transplantation.The child’s scar recovered well before she was discharged,and the follow-up results were satisfactory.After recovery,she had fewer complications under careful and scientific nursing care.The nursing points were to provide a stable treatment environment through regular wound observation and strict aseptic operation;ensure the nutrition of the child;give the child personalized sedative and analgesic care;and perform anticoagulation,antispasm,and dressing change and provide warmth for vascular crisis.Dressing changes by plastic surgery specialists combined with sedation and analgesia can alleviate children’s pain,enable them to better cooperate with surgical site observation and dressing care,increase the survival rate of the skin in the surgical area,and help improve the prognosis of the child.展开更多
