Mythical elements usuall...Ancient Greece having survived uninterruptedly through centuries, consists an incontestably cultural capital of overriding importance for the global community and especially for Greece itself. Mythical elements usually become frameworks or structures, in which Greek literary tradition encodes Greek national virtues and promotes nationalistic goals. On the other hand, myth＇s adaptations to different chrono-topes generate diversified cultural reception, adjusted to the era and the audience＇s expectations. The mythical figures are constantly invested in different conceptual schemata, which correspond to the altered way of thinking. Myth is also usually embedded in or underlies fantasy genre, which becomes a vehicle for utterances on women＇s rights. In this paper, we are going to examine closely three ＂fantasy＂ novels for children with mythical intertextual elements： The Fortunate lsles （1989）, Torch （1987）, and Sirena （1998）, whose plot takes place in Greece and we will try to explore： （1） how is Greekness being perceived and presented; and （2） how is female identity being introjected or depicted, in order to find out if the subversive potential of the fantasy genre reworks and rationalizes femininity and Greekness, which have for so long been exploited by the patriarchal or nationalistic status quo.展开更多

Behind the...In an age when criminal psychology was still new, Edgar Allan Poe revolutionized the world with his tales of insightful penetration into the criminal mind. ＂The Tell-Tale Heart＂ （2007） is one such tale. Behind the mask of the narrator lies the dangerous, diabolical, and premeditated crime of the sadist. Most critics neglected to highlight the sadistic complex which manifests itself with outstanding clarity in the character Poe presents. Instead, they chose to focus on other aspects of his character, namely, his disturbed mental state. Yet, to dismiss a perversion such as sadism is to lose sight of Poe＇s legitimate merits as a criminal psychologist. This study highlights this point Through an interdisciplinary approach between criminology and literature, the study examines Poe＇s work from the criminological tradition represented by such figures as Richard von Krafft-Ebing, Paul De River, Carol Anne Davis, Karl Berg, Peter Vronsky, Julie Harrower, Curt R. My article attempts to explore male’s expectations and their power over female’s sexuality with Jacques Lacan’s psychoanalytical approach. Moreover, it will elaborate that Beatrice-Joanna’s tragic outcome is not only contributed by her murder and moral degradations, but also, before her transgression being committed, her body has already been regulated by the patriarchal power in the Renaissance society-either she is valuable in the marriage market with her chastity or she is condemned by losing it. Also, the science of medicine employed to test virginity represents the male’s methodological hegemony and anxiety in facing the unknown of a female’s chastity. The study aimed to understand the relationship between sexual fantasy,sexual communication,personality traits and sexual satisfaction in married individuals.Sexual fantasy as a variable has seldom been studied in the ...The study aimed to understand the relationship between sexual fantasy,sexual communication,personality traits and sexual satisfaction in married individuals.Sexual fantasy as a variable has seldom been studied in the Indian context.The importance of sexual fantasies has been noted by therapists and researchers.Studying various aspects of sexual functioning in married life including,sexual communication and sexual satisfaction and personality traits would be beneficial.A cross sectional design with a total sample of 100 married individuals was considered.Tools were administered as online forms.Parametric and Non-parametric tests were used to find the correlation between Sexual fantasy and sexual satisfaction,sexual communication and sexual satisfaction and personality traits and sexual satisfaction.Results indicated that sexual fantasy and sexual satisfaction have a negative correlation,sexual communication and sexual satisfaction have a positive correlation and personality traits and sexual satisfaction also have a positive correlation.This study can be used to develop modules that might aid in marital and sex therapy.It may be useful in identifying any difficulties or issues which may help in providing appropriate timely intervention.展开更多
