In this paper,an expression for the user’s achievable data rate in the multi-user multiple-input multiple-output(MU-MIMO)system with limited feedback(LF)of channel state information(CSI)is derived.The energy efficiency(EE)is optimized through power allocation under quality of service(QoS)constraints.Based on mathematical equivalence and Lagrange multiplier approach,an energy-efficient unequal power allocation(EEUPA)with LF of CSI scheme is proposed.The simulation results show that as the number of transmitting antennas increases,the EE also increases which is promising for the next generation wireless communication networks.Moreover,it can be seen that the QoS requirement has an effect on the EE of the system.Ultimately,the proposed EEUPA with LF of CSI algorithm performs better than the existing energy-efficient equal power allocation(EEEPA)with LF of CSI schemes. 展开更多

To reduce the negative impact of channel quantization errors, a low-complexity transceiver joint design scheme for both the transmit beamformers and receive combining vectors is proposed in the two-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) system. In the scheme, the channel nullspace quantization vector is used as the transmit beamformer of the interference user directly based on channel null-space feedback. Since the interference can be determined at the receiver, interference rejection combining (IRC) is jointly utilized to cancel the inter-user interference. Simulation re- sults show that the proposed scheme can provide substantial sum-rate improvement especially at high SNR. 展开更多

A multiuser Multiple Input Multiple Output Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (MIMO-OFDM) broadcast channel is considered where both transmitter and receivers are equipped with multiple antennas. The Channel State Information (CSI) is quantized and provided through limited feedback links. In the first part of this work, the Maximum Expected SINR Combining (MESC) strategy for feedback decrease is investigated. Then a combination of MESC with subcarrier assigning is presented to further reduce the feedback load. The basic idea is the subcarriers are partitioned into resource blocks. For each block, only one quantized channel vector is feedback. The simulation results show MESC can obtain the performance gain over the relevant combiner strategies in MIMO-OFDM system. Moreover the effectiveness on the reduction of feedback overhead by the use of partitioning blocks in the studied system is evaluated. 展开更多

Pre-processing filter design at transmitters for IBI mitigation in an OFDM system

In order to meet the demands for high transmission rates and high service quality in broadband wireless communication systems, orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) has been adopted in some standards. However, the inter-block interference (IBI) and inter-carrier interference (ICI) in an OFDM system affect the performance. To mitigate IBI and ICI, some pre-processing approaches have been proposed based on full channel state information (CSI), which improved the system performance. A pre-processing filter based on partial CSI at the transmitter is designed and investigated. The filter coefficient is given by the optimization processing, the symbol error rate (SER) is tested, and the computation complexity of the proposed scheme is analyzed. Computer simulation results show that the proposed pre-processing filter can effectively mitigate IBI and ICI and the performance can be improved. Compared with pre-processing approaches at the transmitter based on full CSI, the proposed scheme has high spectral efficiency, limited CSI feedback and low computation complexity. 展开更多

This paper focuses on analyzing the ergodic capacity performance of limited feedback (LFB) beamforming in multi-user distributed antenna system (DAS). In such a system, multi-user interference (MUI) is inevitably due to the channel uncertainties caused by quantization error. Considering this, we propose a parameter named effective ergodic capacity rate (EECR), which denotes the capacity offset between finite rate feedback and perfect channel state information (CSI). The simulation results show that the derived approximated EECR is very tight to actual EECR. Based on the approximated EECR, an adaptive minimum bit feedback scheme is proposed, which can effectively reduce the overhead of feedback channel and the complexity of the system. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. 展开更多

A threshold setting scheme is proposed based on the resource management and limited feedback theory in multiuser orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. In adaptive resource allocation, the factors denoting the quality of service (QoS) and fairness are both considered as the user weight. From the aspect of feedback outage probability, the proposed algorithm sets the threshold for each user related to its weight, which brings enough feedback to the user with greater weight. Analysis and simulation results show that, compared with the threshold ignoring weights, the proposed scheme has much lower feedback load while with better QoS. 展开更多

Uniform channel decomposition (UCD) has been proven to be optimal in bit error rate (BER) performance and strictly capacity lossless when perfect channel state information (CSI) is assumed to be available at both the transmitter and receiver side. In practice,CSI can be obtained by channel estimation at receiver and conveyed to transmitter via a limited-rate feedback channel. In such case,the implementation of traditional UCD by treating the imperfect CSI as perfect CSI cause significant performance degradation due to inevitable channel estimation error and vector quantization error. To overcome this problem,a practical robust UCD scheme was proposed in this paper,which includes two steps,firstly,a matching architecture was proposed to eliminate the mismatch between CSI at receiver (CSIR) and CSI at transmitter (CSIT),secondly,an MMSE based robust UCD scheme considering channel estimation error and vector quantization error as an integral part of the design was derived. Simulation results show that the proposed practical robust UCD scheme is capable of improving the BER performance greatly in the context of channel estimation error and vector quantization error compared with the traditional UCD scheme. 展开更多

In multi-cell cooperative multi-input multi-output (MIMO) systems, base station (BS) can exchange and utilize channel state information (CSI) of adjacent cell users to manage co-channel interference. Users quantize the CSIs of desired channel and interference channels using finite-rate feedback links, then BS can generate cooperative block diagonalization (BD) precoding matrices using the obtained quantized CSI at transmitter to supress co-channel interference. In this paper, a novel adaptive bit allocation scheme is proposed to minimize the rate loss due to imperfect CSI. We derive the closed-form expression of rate loss caused by both channel delay and limited feedback. Based on the derived rate loss expression, the proposed scheme can adaptively allocate more bits to quantize the better channels with smaller delays and fewer bits to worse channels with larger delays. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme yields higher performance than other allocation schemes. 展开更多

In rd (DF) MIMO two-way relay systems, the transmission schemes are designed and the closed-form expressions for the outage probability and average symbol error rate (ASER) of the twoway relay system are derived based on two different scenarios of channel state information (CSI). For perfect CSI, the maximum-ratio-transmission and combining (MRT-MRC) technique is applied to design the beamforming and combining vectors. Without perfect CSI, the transmission scheme with limited feedback is designed, and the analytical results are verified through two kinds of codebooks, i.e., random vector quantization and Grassmann. The simulation results show that, the proposed transmission schemes for the two-way relay system can outperform other transmission schemes in the performance of outage probability and ASER, and the accuracy of the derived closed-form expressions is also verified by the numerical simulations. 展开更多
