Tanure Ojaide＇s God＇s Medicine-Men and Other Stories： A Feminist Perspective

Feminist criticism, an off-shoot of the Women Liberation Movement of the 1960s, is a gender-based discourse that considers, in some details, the significance of images of women constructed by literature as derogatory and biased; hence, the need to reconstruct womanhood in literary works. From time immemorial and according to historical facts, the Nigerian woman is seen as the bolt of a repressive patriarchal structure that persistently reduced her dignity and human essence and compelled her submission to the whims and caprices of the man. Woman, therefore over the years, has been so long conditioned in the environment of masculine dominance. With the advent of modernization however the world-view of woman and man starts to experience a radical change that calls for a reconstruction of the place of woman round the globe. The enlightenment leads to the feminist criticism among others. Tanure Ojaide represents this world-view in his collection： God＇s Medicine-Men and Other Stories. The fiction is a collection of 10 short stories out of which, however, this paper studies only the first story, ＂Come Back When You Are Ready to Die＂ with a view to exposing how well Tanure Ojaide responded to feminist＇s aspiration for a non-sexiest literary representation of the woman.

Some researches have been conducted concerning the Markedness Theory about the marked and the unmarked, from aspects of Phonetics, Grammar, Pragmatic, Psycholinguistic and Sociolinguistic. This paper discusses markedness theory with regard to two basic issues: Why it is ok to say"历史"in Chinese, but the equivalent in English is"history", not"*herstory". Why the meaning of"governor"and"governess"is distinctively different? No research concerning the issues from the perspective of markedness has been conducted yet. This paper gives a brief review of the studies concerning the Markedness Theory, on the basis of which the question is aroused.

The Three Principles of Institutional Safeguards for Women's Participation in Legislation in China

The participation of women in legislation is an important aspect and means of safeguarding women’s rights.Feminist theory,based on criticism of both the“citizenship identity theory as rights”and the“citizenship identity theory as responsibilities,”proposes the“citizenship identity theory as subjectivity.”Observing the current practice of women’s participation in legislation in China,two institutional safeguard principles can be summarized:the“minimum proportion”and the“influence evaluation.”However,each of these principles has its inherent limitations.Therefore,it is necessary to supplement them with the principle of“subjective participation”in a reflective manner.This principle requires women to participate substantively in the legislative process as subjects,express women’s needs and demands,input women’s perspectives and experiences,and reconstruct the distribution of rights and responsibilities in the existing legislation.The three principles complement each other and work together to comprehensively constitute the institutional structure of women’s participation in legislation,thereby promoting the reproduction of corresponding action structures.

论女性主义对西方传统正义理论的消解与批判——以奥金家庭正义理论为视角

以苏珊·奥金为代表的女性主义者们逐渐认识到,绝大多数西方主流正义理论从未将女性纳入正义议题的考察范围。为此,奥金先是批判了主流正义理论中对于公共领域与私人领域的二元划分传统,并在此基础上提出了家庭正义理论。该理论的核心方法是对于“公私二分法”的解构和重建,核心主张是将家庭领域纳入正义理论的考察对象和适用范围,核心观点是“私人的就是政治的”,即在私人领域中引入公共权力,从而实现性别平等和社会正义。奥金的家庭正义理论不仅在一定程度上丰富和拓展了正义理论的研究视野,还缓和了长久以来自由主义与女性主义之间的紧张关系。然而,用公共领域中的按劳分配原则替代家庭中的按需分配,可能会导致家庭成员之间的情感冷漠甚至家庭解体,此外,公共权力相较个人来说有着恐怖的支配力,因此公共权力对于家庭领域的直接介入和强制干涉极有可能使社会走向极权。

断裂与重构:慢性病患者女性亲属照顾实践历程及其形塑机制

以生命历程理论为分析视角,基于对11名慢性病患者女性亲属照顾者的深入访谈,揭示了该群体的照顾实践历程并非随着时间推移简单地线性推进,具体表现为“危机应对”“负重前行”和“人生修补”三个阶段构成的曲线型动态轨迹。围绕“照顾何以发生”“照顾何以持续”与“照顾何以延展”三个主题,首先,疾病的侵袭造成了慢性病患者女性亲属生命进程的轨迹断裂,女性以主动承担或被动选择的形式成为照顾者,其本质是该群体面临家庭危机时基于家庭环境与社会条件共同作用下的自我应对;随后,女性的个体韧性与外部支持相结合帮助她们逐渐适应并内化照顾者角色,确保照顾行为的持续;最后,通过与被照顾者互惠关系的建立和多样化的角色认同,女性延展了照顾的积极意义,进而重构自身常态化的日常生活模式,实现了其人生从“断裂”至“重构”的演变。总的来看,慢性病患者女性亲属的照顾实践是内嵌于女性个体生命历程中的鲜活生命经验,由女性的个体能动性与她们在不同历史时空阶段所浸润的社会环境条件共同形塑。因而女性照顾现象在“涵盖性别的同时超越性别”,应被纳入家庭、情感、社会资本等要素。
