This paper describes a method for fast engineering evaluation of the transmission characteristicsof single-mode optical fibers.A versatile microcomputer program is presented which can be utilized to ana-lyze mode field characteristics of single-mode fibers with arbitrary refractive index profiles.Our computationshows that the mathematical algorithm and the corresponding programs developeod in this paper are rela-tively simple and accurate enough for the engineenring design of single-mode fibers for optical communica-tion systems. 展开更多

Coupling plane wave into a single-mode fiber (SMF) with high and steady coupling efficiency is crucial for fiber- based free-space laser systems, where random angular jitters are the main influencing factors of fiber coupling. In this paper, we verified a new adaptive-optic device named adaptive fiber coupler (AFC) which could compensate angular jitters and improve the SMF coupling efficiency in some degree. Experiments of SMF coupling under the angular jitter situation using AFC have been achieved. Stochastic parallel gradient descent (SPGD) algorithm is employed as the control strategy, of which the iteration rate is 625 Hz. In closed loop, the coupling efficiency keeps above 65% when angular errors are below 80/3tad. The compensation bandwidth is 35 Hz at sine-jitter of 15 ~rad amplitude with average coupling efficiency of above 60%. Also, experiments with simulated turbulence have been studied. The average coupling efficiency increases from 31.97% in open loop to 61.33% in closed loop, and mean square error (MSE) of coupling efficiency drops from 7.43% to 1.75%. 展开更多

We demonstrate a stable Yb:fiber frequency comb with supercontinuum generation by using a specially designed tapered single-mode fiber, in which a spectrum spanning from 500 nm to 1500 nm is produced. The carrier-envelope offset signal of the Yb:fiber comb is measured with a signal-to-noise ratio of more than 40 dB and a linewidth narrower than 120 kHz. The repetition rate and carrier-envelope offset signals are simultaneously phase locked to a microwave reference frequency. 展开更多

We present the design of a diffractive grating structure and get the optimal parameters which can achieve more than 75%coupling efficiency(CE) between single-mode fiber and silicon-on-insulator(SOI) waveguide through 2D finite-different time-domain(FDTD) simulation.The proposed architecture has a uniform structure with no bottom reflection element or silicon overlay.The structure,including grating couplers,adiabatic tapers and interconnection waveguides can be fabricated on the SOI waveguide with only a single electron-beam lithography(ICP) step,which is CMOS-compatible.A relatively high coupling efficiency of 47.2%was obtained at a wavelength of 1562 nm. 展开更多

煤层采动底板变形破坏过程多参数精细感知方法研究

煤层采动过程中,通过测试参数感知底板变形破坏过程是采场地质保障的有效方式。利用有限差分法构建煤层采动底板破坏数值模型,获取塑性区的分布和演化特征,结果显示底板破坏深度为21 m。在煤层底板钻孔中植入电缆和分布式光纤,通过对电... 煤层采动过程中,通过测试参数感知底板变形破坏过程是采场地质保障的有效方式。利用有限差分法构建煤层采动底板破坏数值模型,获取塑性区的分布和演化特征,结果显示底板破坏深度为21 m。在煤层底板钻孔中植入电缆和分布式光纤,通过对电极电流值和光纤应变的连续采集,获得采动效应下的特征参数图谱,进一步分析底板的变形破坏程度。结果表明:电极电流的初始值在40 mA以上。随着工作面的推进电流值轻微升高,当工作面推进到孔口附近时,电流降到1 mA以下,岩层破坏;光纤测试方面,随着工作面的推进光纤应变不断增大,当工作面靠近孔口时,光纤应变峰值为8.589×10^(−3),之后岩层破裂,能量释放,光纤应变回弹。电极电流和光纤应变参数图谱显示底板的变形破坏过程分为4个阶段,分别为无影响阶段、微影响阶段、显著影响阶段和破坏阶段。监测数据对底板变形破坏过程起到了良好表征作用,但存在一定差异,具体表现在超前应力和破裂伊始的感知上,电极电流的响应要略早于光纤应变。电极电流的结果显示底板破坏深度为20.8 m,光纤应变的结果显示底板破坏深度为21.0 m。构建电极电流值和应变值的核密度图,对于底板浅部的监测点,数据点离散程度较大;而埋深较大的监测点受动效应影响较小,回采过程中数据点分布较为集中,离散程度较小。通过多测试参数联合感知,实现煤层采动底板变形破坏过程的精细表征和评价。 展开更多

针对跨海光通信系统,海岸两侧供电架构导致的能效问题是限制其容量的主要因素。多根单模光纤(M-SMF)复用是目前阶段提高通信海缆容量的主要解决方案。然而,海缆中可容纳的光纤数量往往受限于其机械特性和下缆难度,可容纳光纤数量目前通... 针对跨海光通信系统,海岸两侧供电架构导致的能效问题是限制其容量的主要因素。多根单模光纤(M-SMF)复用是目前阶段提高通信海缆容量的主要解决方案。然而,海缆中可容纳的光纤数量往往受限于其机械特性和下缆难度,可容纳光纤数量目前通常限制在32以下。因此,高复用密度的空分复用技术有望在海缆通信领域中展现其优势。对基于多芯光纤(MCF)海缆的能效公式进行了理论推导,对比了MCF海缆与M-SMF海缆的能效特性,并分析多芯耦合器插损、芯间串扰等边际参数对系统总体能效的影响。结果证明:采用4芯光纤在跨大西洋海缆和跨太平洋海缆中的最优光纤数目分别为86和14;采用7芯光纤在跨大西洋海缆和跨太平洋海缆中的最优光纤数目分别为50和8。在海缆最大容纳光纤数目(32)情况下:4芯光纤在跨大西洋场景和跨太平洋场景中相比M-SMF海缆可以提升能效至2.50倍和1.13倍;7芯光纤在跨大西洋场景和跨太平洋场景中相比M-SMF海缆可以提升能效至3.20倍和1.13倍。 展开更多
