Building on a new model proposed recently for calculating constant electro-magnetic field values, the present article explores the electro-magnetic field configuration generated by parallel electrical wires. This imposes a reevaluation of the drawing procedure for constructing field curves with a constant field values around multiple parallel electrical conducting wires. To achieve this, we employ methods akin to those used for creating contours on topographical maps, ensuring a consistent numerical field value along the entire length of the field curves. Reservoirs provide a variety of services with economic values across multiple sectors. As demands for reservoir services continue to grow and precipitation patterns evolve, it becomes ever more important to consider the integrated suite of values and tradeoffs that attend changes in water uses and availability. Section 316 (b) of the Clean Water Act requires that owners of certain water cooled power plants evaluate technologies and operational measures that can reduce their impacts to aquatic organisms. The studies must discuss the social costs and benefits of alternative technologies including cooling towers (79 Fed. Reg. 158, 48300 - 48439). Cooling towers achieve their effect through evaporation. This manuscript estimates the property value, recreation, and hydroelectric generation impacts that could result from the evaporative water loss associated with installing cooling towers at the McGuire Nuclear Generating Station (McGuire) located on Lake Norman, North Carolina. Although this study specifically evaluates the effects of evaporative water loss from cooling towers, its methods are applicable to estimating the economic benefits and costs of a new water user or reduced water input in any complex reservoir system that supports steam electric generation, hydroelectric generation, residential properties, recreation, irrigation, and municipal water use. 展开更多

Recent years,the polarization response of ferroelectrics has been entirely studied.However,it is found that the polarization may disappear gradually with the continually applied of electric field.In this paper,taking K0.48Na0.52NbO3(KNN)as an example,it was demonstrated that the residual polarization began to decrease when the electric field frequency increased to a certain extent using a phase-field methods.The results showed that the content of out-of-plane domains increased first and then decreased with the increase of applied electric field frequency,the maximum polarization disappeared at high frequencies,and the hysteresis loop became elliptical.In order to further study the abnormal changes of hysteresis loops of ferroelectrics under high electric field frequency,we analyzed the hysteresis loop and dielectric response of solid solution 0.1SrTiO_(3)-0.9K_(0.48)Na_(0.52)NbO_(3).It was found that the doped hysteresis loop maintained its shape at higher frequency and the dielectric constant increased.This kind of doping has a higher field frequency adaptability,which has a key guiding role in improving the dielectric properties of ferroelectric thin films and expanding the frequency application range of ferroelectric nano memory。 展开更多

Using Chien's method, a pair of generalized variational principles (GVPs) are established, which directly leads to all four Maxwell's equations, two intensity-potential equations, two constitutive equations, and eight boundary conditions. A family of constrained variational principles is derived sequentially. As additional verifications, two degenerated forms are obtained, equivalent to two known variational principles. A hedonic linear regression model is constructed in this paper to estimate property value, In our model, the property value (sales price) is a function of several selected variables such as the property characteristics, social neighborhoods, level of neighborhood environmental contaminations, level of neighborhood crimes, and locational accessibility to jobs or services, Definitions and calculation of these variables are approached by using Geographic Information System tools, For improving estimation, gravity model is employed to measure both levels of neighborhood toxic sites and crimes; and a time-based method is used to measure the loeational accessibility rather than simple straight-line distance measurement. This study discovers that the relationship between house value and its nearby highway is nonlinear, The methodology could help policy makers assess the external effects of a property. Our model also could be used potentially to identify the current and historic trends of development caused by neighborhood or environments change in the study area. 展开更多

Objective: A comparison of the difference between the two types of field MR scan in diagnosis of shoulder joint injury. Method: Randomly selected 153 patients with arthroscopic or open arthroplasty who had shoulder pain or dysfunction treated in our hospital from 2014 to 2017 were divided into 1.5 T group and 3.0 according to the field strength of MRI examination. Postoperative pathology was a gold standard. The sensitivity, specificity, consistency, and predictive value of two field-strength MRI examinations in the diagnosis of rotator cuff tears were calculated and compared. Results: The sensitivity, specificity, crude consistency, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of the 1.5 T group were 68.75%, 82.35%, 73.47%, 88.00%, and 58.33%, respectively. The 3.0 T group was 72.22%, 89.47%, 78.18%, 92.86% and 62.96%, the differences between the above indicators were not statistically significant (P > 0.05). Conclusion: There was no difference in the authenticity and benefit index of rotator cuff injury diagnosed by 1.5 T and 3.0 T MRI. 展开更多

Facing the challenges of in-situ utilization of lunar regolith resources,applying an external electric field to manipulate lunar particles has become a promising method for space particle control,which mainly depends on the particle charging properties in the applied electric field.Using the surficial lunar regolith samples brought back from the Moon by the Chang’e-5 mission(CE5 LS),this work successively studied their charging properties,particle dynamics,and their collision damages to aerospace materials under the action of an external electric field in high-vacuum conditions.The results indicated that the charging pro-cess and electrostatic projection of lunar regolith particles under high-vacuum conditions were different from those under atmosphere conditions.The particle diameter range of CE5 LS used in the experiment is 27.7-139.0 lm.For electric field strength of 3-12 kV·cm^(-1),the charge obtained by CE5 LS is 4.8×10^(-15)-4.7×10^(-13) C and the charge-to-mass ratio is 1.2×10^(-5)-6.8×10^(-4) C·kg^(-1).The CE5 LS is easier to be negatively charged in an external electric field.Furthermore,significant damages were observed on the target impact surfaces,indicating severe influences of lunar regolith particles on aerospace materials.Our work contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of physical mechanisms controlling the lunar regolith shielding and utilization,and will inspire broad efforts to develop the lunar in-situ engi-neering solutions. 展开更多

Zoning policies are measures used to enforce compliance and control the development of an area.These measures have been used in different countries to achieve a well-planned and habitable residential environment.Enforcement of these measures has tended to increase or decrease property values in some jurisdictions.Thus,the objective of this study was to measure the influence of zoning policies on rental values in Abuja,Nigeria.Due to the dearth of data related to the subject matter of this research,residents,property developers and personnel responsible for enforcement of these policies were targeted and used for data gathering.The hedonic price modeling(HPM)was used to assess the contribution of zoning policies to rental values in this analysis.The results,however,revealed that zoning is negatively correlated to rental values,while other zoning policies used in the study area are positively correlated to rental values.The result extends the debate that the impact of zoning could either be positively or negatively correlated to price relative to the underlying measures adopted within a jurisdiction.This result suggests that it is imperative to undertake a study in a jurisdiction before decisions could be made.Again,zoning policies should be extended to other suburbs of Abuja so that population pressure within Abuja and its immediate suburbs could be mitigated. 展开更多

This article originates from the observation that field lines are drawn using distinctive rules in magnetic field and electrostatic fields. It aims at reconciliating the definitions of these fields and thus reaching a consensus on the interpretation of field lines. Our unified field definition combines three orthogonal vectors and a unique scalar value. Field lines are then defined as isovalue lines of the scalar value, rendering it simpler to interpret in both field types. Specific to our field definition is the use of square root of vector’s cross product so that all vectors have the same physical unit. This enhanced field definition also enables a more efficient calculation of Biot-Savart law. This article is the first of a series allowing the drawing of isovalue contour lines. 展开更多

TiB2/Al-30Si composites were fabricated via in-situ melt reaction under high-energy ultrasonic field. The microstructure and wear properties of the composite were investigated by XRD, SEM and dry sliding testing. The results indicate that TiB2 reinforcement particles are uniformly distributed in the aluminum matrix under high-energy ultrasonic field. The morphology of the TiB2 particles is in circle-shape or quadrangle-shape, and the size of the particles is 0.1-1.5μm. The primary silicon particles are in quadrangle-shape and the average size of them is about 10μm. Hardness values of the Al-30Si matrix alloy and the TiB2/Al-30Si composites considerably increase as the high energy ultrasonic power increases. In particular, the maximum hardness value of the in-situ composites is about 1.3 times as high as that of the matrix alloy when the ultrasonic power is 1.2 kW, reaching 412 MPa. Meanwhile, the wear resistance of the in-situ TiB2/Al-30Si composites prepared under high-energy ultrasonic field is obviously improved and is insensitive to the applied loads of the dry sliding testing. 展开更多

Technological parameters of asymmetric cast-rolling under multi-energy field were investigated on horizontal twin roll caster(d400 mm×500 mm), and their effects on structures and properties of 1050 strips were analyzed by comparing with traditional cast-rolling. Results show that when length of cast-rolling area is 70 mm, melt temperature of head box is 670 °C, cast rolling speed is 1.3 m/min, exciting current is 10 A, center frequency is(13±1) Hz, ultrasonic power is 200 W and ultrasonic frequency is(20±0.2) kHz, the 1050 strip with the best microstructure can be prepared successfully; its center segregated layer disappears; the average grain size is reduced by about 40%; the crystal grains are distributed evenly; micro segregation decreases obviously; the precipitated phases are distributed along the grain boundaries evenly; and the tensile strength, yield strength, elongation and micro-hardness of cast-rolled strip are improved by 22.6%, 23.66%, 38.75% and 9.90%, respectively. 展开更多

[Objective] The aim was to investigate the changing characteristics of soil respiration in clear day with enhanced UV-B radiation and in cloudy day without external UV-B radiation forcing.[Methods] Based on measuring soil respiration rate of barley field at jointing stage in typical clear day and cloudy day by means of Li-8100,the effects of enhanced UV-B radiation by 20% on soil respiration rate were studied. [Results] The results showed that enhanced UV-B radiation inhibited soil respiration of barley field obviously. In clear day,the average soil respiration rate of normal barley field(B) was 1.02 μmol/(m2·s) higher than that of barley field with the enhanced UV-B radiation by 20%(BU) . For cloudy day,the average soil respiration rate of B treatment was 0.71 μmol/(m2·s) lower than BU treatment without external UV-B radiation forcing. In clear day,UV-B radiation rise resulted into the decrease of Q10 value of soil respiration in barley field,but there was an increase in cloudy day without external UV-B radiation forcing,leading to various changes of soil respiration rate. [Conclusions] Supplemental UV-B radiation could inhibit soil respiration rate of barley filed significantly,thus affected the increase of crop yield. 展开更多

[Objective] This study was to investigate the Suaeda salsa community characteristics,further getting the soil chemical properties.[Method] The paired-data of field spectra and corresponding soil physical-chemical property of seventeen samples was used to reveal the relationship between soil chemical property and field spectra(visible and near infra-red spectra)of S.salsa.[Result] The second derivative spectrum of S.salsa at 1 121 nm could reflect the changes of soil organic matter and soil total nitrogen,and that at 1 208 nm could commendably indicate changes of soil total phosphorus and at 724 nm could indicate changes of soil pH.The first derivative spectrum of S.salsa at 353 nm can indicate changes of soil available potassium,and that at 950 nm could commendably reflect the changes of soil salt content.[Conclusion] Our results laid basis for monitoring chemical property of soil covered with S.salsa using remote sensing technology. 展开更多

The numerical results show that the molecular junctions that have redox centers and relatively large dipole moments parallel gate direction can respond to the gate electric field remarkably. The current-voltage properties of 2,5-dimethyl-thiophene-dithiol present N-channel-metal-oxide-semiconductorlike characteristics. Through the analysis of reservoir mechanics, the influence mechanisms of different mechanical properties of rocks on reservoir in-situ stress were studied. By means of stress ellipse and finite element simulation, the influence rules of different mechanical properties of rocks on in-situ stress field were discussed. For the low permeability reservoirs of the Bonan Oilfield, the coarser rock has a larger Young’s modulus value and a lower Poisson’s ratio. The rock mechanical parameters and stress-strain relationship of sandstone facies and mudstone facies are different. Different rocks have different mechanical properties, which cause extra stress at the lithological contact interface, and the existence of extra stress affects the reservoir in-situ stress. Without considering the influence of structural features on the in-situ stress field, the reservoir in-situ stress is controlled by the magnitude of extra stress and the angle between lithological contact surface and boundary stress. 展开更多
