V-bending test was performed to understand better the fracture of coating layer of GA steel sheet during plastic deformation. Yield strength of the coating layer was calculated by using a relative difference between hardness of coating layer measured from the nano-indentation test and that of substrate. To measure shearing strength at the interface between substrate and coating layer, shearing test with two specimens attached by an adhesive was carried out. Using the mechanical properties measured, a series of finite element analyses coupled with a failure model was performed. Results reveal that the fracture of coating layer occurs in an irregular manner at the region where compressive deformation is dominant. Meanwhile, a series of vertical cracks perpendicular to material surface are observed at the tensile stressed-region. It is found that 0.26-0.28 of local equivalent plastic strain exists at the coating and substrate at the beginning of failure. The fracture of coating layer depends on ductility of the coating layer considerably as well.展开更多

With the help of the structures, crash kinetic-energy can be completely absorbed or dissipated for the aim of safety. Two composite structures(circumscribed circle structure and inscribed circle structure) were constructed. In addition, comparison and optimization of the crashworthy characteristic of the two structures were carried out based on the method of explicit finite element analysis(FEA) and Kriging surrogate model. According to the result of Kriging surrogate model, conclusions can be safely drawn that the specific energy absorption(SEA) and ratio of specific energy absorption to initial peak force(REAF) of circumscribed circle structure are lager than those of inscribed circle structure under the same design parameters. In other words, circumscribed circle structure has better performances with higher energy-absorbing ability and lower initial peak force. Besides, error analysis was adopted and the result of which indicates that the Kriging surrogate model has high nonlinear fitting precision. What is more, the SEA and REAF optimum values of the two structures have been obtained through analysis, and the crushing results have been illustrated when the two structures reach optimum SEA and REAF.展开更多

Simulations were successfully carried out by using crystal plasticity finite element method(CPFEM),and a novel computational framework is presented for the representation of virtual polycrystalline grain structures. It has been found that asymmetric rolling(ASR) is more efficient in producing plastic deformation since it develops additional shear strain and activity of slip system compared with symmetric rolling(SR). For ASR, increase in the length of the shear zone, and decrease in the amount of the pressure and roll force would lead to further reduction. The shear strain path in SR and ASR is strictly influenced by the misorientation of neighbor grains, and corresponding {1 1 1} pole figures offer direct evidence of the spread of crystallographic orientation around the normal direction. The activity of slip systems was examined in detail and found that the predicted results are consistent with the surface layer model. The accuracy of the developed CPFEM model is verified by the fact that the simulated results of roll force coincide well with the experimental results.展开更多
