To get out of it, it is necessary to dig deeper in the study of aesthetics. The fact that the marginal areas' cultural heritage, agricultural culture, industrial culture and post-industrial culture often coexist in a harmonious way in a nation or the same area attracts the attention of aesthetic anthropologists. The paper mainly analyzes the constructive relationship between the culture of marginal areas and aesthetic anthropology, and discusses how to establish a relationship between them with the help of the development model of Yunnan's marginal culture.展开更多

From naming to local color preference, the visual experience accumulation in Chinese red lies not just in the solitary and fossilized historical relics, but in a ceaseless and dynamic process of formation, recognition, conversion and transmission. Moreover, the symbolic constitution and ethnic identi cation of Chinese red exempli es historical accomplishments in local exchanges of artifacts, technologies, systems, and outlooks with foreign partners. Second, the formerly stable structural relationship between peripheral regions and central regions gradually grows uncertain. Third, the establishment of cyberized roads or the cyberized expansion of roads leads the advance toward a global connectivity where the virtual world closely interacts with the real world. After "the Belt" concept comes into being, the anthropologists must upgrade their research from previously established fixed-point perspective to a more extensive observation over the "Belt" or a wider range, while the concept of "the Road" encourages anthropologists to study the culture of the other half of the world, namely, to read the world history as a whole new picture from a Chinese or eastern point of view. It is necessary for anthropology to break the geological and cultural borders in the real world to extend its antenna to a more extensive range, which will also bring the "otherness" of this field to a more prominent and obvious play. It is inevitable that all human cultures are about to take a core standing in the Belt and Road Initiative.展开更多

The oral tradition served as medium of preservation of culture and history of the ancient past and experiences. Though, most Nigerians can still remember their family history, folklore, tradition and genealogy, only few oral artists and youths of nowadays possess the skill and ability needed to chant the lengthy oral literature. It is in the light of the above that this study examined the effect of oral tradition, folklore, and history on the development of education in Nigeria, 1977 till date. The study adopted historical research method using primary and secondary sources of information to analyze data. Primary sources include, like archive materials, oral interviews and secondary sources include, like textbooks, speeches, journals, and internet materials and images. The outlines of the paper are: the definition of concepts, historical background of Nigerian oral tradition, and folklore in the educational system, the place of oral tradition, folklore and history in the education policy in Nigeria since 1977, the effect of oral tradition, folklore and history on the development of education in Nigeria since 1977, the prospects of oral traditions, folklore and history on the development of education in Nigeria, conclusion and a few recommendations for future improvement. The findings of the study revealed that oral traditions, folklore and history were the bed-rock for the development of education and society in the pre-colonial period, but these were dropped gradually with the advent of the colonial masters and gradually deteriorate both in the educational curriculum and general conduct of the society and these have adverse effect on the nation's economy. It is recommended that the beauty of Nigerian history, oral and written traditions, culture, folklore like proverbs, chants, satire and symbolism, be brought back into the school system, politics and every sector of the Nigerian economy for proper advancement to take place in the education sector and for overall national development.展开更多

Inspired by birdhouse design, these unique configurations of "poetry boxes", combining art and poetry are located in various communal open spaces. Each new project solicits a public response from us all to become catalysts for exploring our environs and questioning how a sense of place informs our consciousness. A folkloristic perspective shapes this discussion about the many variations of this collaborative and public project of poetry boxes, installed on trails, in parks, along rivers, and in library stacks over the past ten years. The primary concerns of folklore interpretation such as tradition, identity, cultural creativity, performance, and narrative analysis, are just a few of the dynamics that can be teased out from investigating a project with such interesting cultural parameters. In this context, cultural sustainability and poetic sensibility deepen our understanding of sense of place, environmental aesthetics, shrine markers, and the scope of individual and communal creative action.展开更多

The new Great Tradition transforms the opposition between the Great and Little Tradition of American anthropology, and makes the new concepts gain the legitimacy of the cultural values transferred from the old terms. It dates the second coded significance of the written culture from the material narrative and the image narrative of the oral tradition, and highlights the generative and primary of the symbolic significance. It also questions the authenticity of the written representation, endows the truth and credibility to the material and image representation, and manifests the imaginative and expression of the early human culture. Though its theoretical innovation inverts the binary opposition structure, and it wants to jump out of knowledge limits of dual structure such as structure and destruction, objective and subjective, material and spiritual.展开更多

While there are a number of Qur'anic verses that speak of humanity's creation and mission, the one that speaks most clearly of the telos of that creation is Al-Dhariyat 56, which reads, "I have not created jinn and mankind except to serve me." A summary examination of some of the prominent Qur'anic commentators and their interpretation of the verse give insight into the understanding of the telos of humanity's creation according to the Qur'an. The examination of the commentaries reveals certain recurring themes. Through the revelation of the Qur'an, one is able to know humanity's place and mission in the created world and thereby act accordingly.展开更多

At war times, ethnic stereotypes arouse ethnic defense. Kazakh people's mind of ethnic unicity and ethnic defence influenced a lot defending such a great land, in spite of the fact that Kazakhs' zhuz and tribal structure was kept well and people were differentiated by kins. This mind of ethnic unicity and defence became a guarantee of saving Kazakhs as ethnic subject in the complicated political, economical, social, and cultural processes with neighbouring nations like Kalmyk, Kyrgyz, Uzbek, Turukpen, Chinese, and Russian. That is why in this paper, the authors' aim is to show stereotypes about the Kalmyk tribes using Kazakh proverbs, heroic eposes, and legends. Writing this paper, the authors set the following objectives: to consider hetero stereotypes and auto stereotypes in Kazakh proverbs; to distinguish a legend as an image of Kazakh people's historical memory; to prove the peculiarities of the Kalmyks character description in Kazakh mythological folklore mind with the help of examples; to show the development of Kazakh ethnic stereotypes in two opposite directions (enmity, alien opinion, and tolerance); to prove that the stereotypes of tolerance prevail over the stereotypes of"enmity" in Kazakh legends; and to show their historical reasons.展开更多
