Although street foods can provide nutritious and affordable ready-to-eat meals for city dwellers, their health risks can outweigh the benefits. A cross-sectional study was conducted in the Bamako district, focusing on street food vendors near schools, universities, extensive markets, administrative centers, and major roads. We aimed to sample fifty (50) sellers per municipality, making 300 sellers for the Bamako district. We developed a survey sheet to collect data, and six teams rotated between the municipalities each month. Before starting the collection, the teams were provided administrative papers approved by the municipal authority. The survey revealed three types of sales sites: fixed (65%), semi-fixed (30%), and mobile (4.40%). The proportion of sellers was 26.8%, 23.2%, 19.7%, and 4.2% in municipalities III, IV, and I. In municipalities I, II, III, IV, and VI, respectively, 92%, 95.70%, 93%, 87.2%, and 100% of the sellers were female. The age distribution of sellers was 65.63%, 46.81%, 40.82%, 38.30%, 36.17%, 36%, and 32% in the 25-34 and 35 - 44 age groups. Illiteracy rates were 59.20%, 61.70%, 55.30%, 75%, and 56% in municipalities I, II, III, IV, and VI, respectively. The study identified two categories of sellers: 48.3% in type 1 and 51.7% in type 2. The first category comprised 154 sellers, and the second 165 sellers. The survey found that 66.00%, 56.00%, 48.90%, 44.90%, 38.30%, and 34.40% of municipal V, VI, III, I, II, and IV sales sites were open-air. In municipality I, 63.30% of the sites were under hangars, while in municipalities II and IV, the corresponding percentages were 51.10% and 59.40%, respectively. Moreover, 46.00%, 31.90%, 31.30%, 30.60%, and 27.70% of the sites in municipalities VI, II, IV, I, and III were located next to gutters. In conclusion, this study identified several factors that could compromise the quality of street foods sold in the six municipalities of Bamako.展开更多

The objectives of this study were to determine the Influencing factors on the household food insecurity status. This cross-sectional study conducted on 2500 households selected from Qaresoo region in the northwest of Iran. Household food security status measured by a validated short questionnaire including six questions and other required data (influencing factors) obtained alongside the validated questionnaire. Chisquare and logistic regression used for data analysis using SPSS software. Forty Percent of households suffered from low food insecurity and twenty percent had experienced very low food insecurity. Severity of household food insecurity increased with increasing distance from the city (Exp (B) = 1.05, 95% C.I = 1.03-1.07). It decreased with increasing centers that provides food (Exp (B) = 0.97, 95% C.I = 0.97-0.98) Residential infrastructure (Exp (B) = 0.99, 95% C.I = 0.98-0.99) Family size (Exp (B) = 0.92, 95% C.I = 0.87-0.98) and the presence of both parents in comparison the presence of single parent at home (Exp (B) = 0.46, 95% C.I = 0.32-0.66). Spearman correlation test also showed that mean per capita income had a significant inverse correlation with household food insecurity status. (Correlation coefficient = –0.3, P < 0.05). Socioeconomic factors were affecting the household food insecurity status. More studies seem to be essential in order to provide practical solutions to reduce the severity of food insecurity.展开更多

Using the factor analysis,we carry out the multi-angle analysis of these typical influencing factors one by one through the time series trend chart. It is found that application rate of chemical fertilizer, the growing area of food crops and drought-affected area become the key factors affecting food production. On this basis,we set forth the corresponding recommendations for improving the comprehensive food production capacity.展开更多

Based on the analysis of economic rationality and system drive for food enterprises to implement ISO9000 Series Standards, we determine the economic factors and institutional factors influencing enterprises' implementation of ISO9000 Series Standards, and establish corresponding indicator system. According to survey data on 86 enterprises in Sichuan Province, we draw the following conclusion using the Logit model: enterprise age and enterprise size in economic factors, government's food safety control intensity, consumers, public and media pressure, awareness of senior managers, strategic orientation of quality safety, employees' average educational level in institutional factors, have a significant effect on enterprises' implementation of ISO9000 Series Standards. According to research results, we put forth some recommendations for promoting food enterprises to implement ISO9000 Series Standards.展开更多

Several pathogenetic factors are implicated in causing the disease. Typically acne flares and remits in its course. Several factors can cause flares. The aim of this study was to assess the perceived factors of acne flares and the idea of sun creams causing skin darkening. Methods: A questionnaire study of the perceived factors in causing acne flares was studied in university female students. These included food, stress, hygiene and menstrual periods. In addition, the effect of sun creams on causing skin darkening was asked. Results: Food was implicated by 43.2% of patients. Stress and menstrual periods were thought to exacerbate acne by more than 70% of patients while 80% of patients did not think bad hygiene worsened acne. 40% of patients thought the use of sun creams cause skin darkening. Conclusion: More controlled studies are needed to explore the effect of food on acne. Dermatologists need to explain the benefit of using sun creams especially to acne patients while using standard treatments.展开更多
