We calculated the basic reproduction number and proved the global stability of disease-free equilibrium when R0 R0 > 1. Meanwhile, we obtained the optimal control strategies minimizing the cost of intervention and minimizing the infected person. We also give some numerical simulations to verify our theoretical results.展开更多

The adverse effects of FMD vaccine to pigs, cattle and goats have been reported increasingly frequent during the spring and autumn seasons when large numbers of farm livestock are vaccinated. The financial losses caused by vaccine adverse effects have been a serious concern for both farmers and primary prevention personnel. There are various causative factors reported to involve into adverse effect of FMD vaccine, including the inappropriate vaccine production, transportation and storage, livestock poor tolerance, and unqualified vaccinating manipulations. Symptomatic treatment and early drug prevention have a certain effect on the adverse effects. To analyze causes and propose countermeasures, in the current study possible reasons during the production and processing procedures of inactivated FMD vaccine were reviewed and corresponding countermeasures were recommended. The review may provide references for better use of vaccine to prevent FMD.展开更多

In this paper a simple mathematical model is formulated and comprehensively analyzed to assess the impact of vaccination and culling on controlling FMD. Overally the study demonstrates that vaccination and culling are essential on controlling FMD if they are all implemented. Furthermore the study illustrates that culling latently infected (early detection of infected animals) is extremely important on controlling FMD dynamics.展开更多

Methods: A total of 160 semen samples were collected from 8 adult healthy mithun bulls with good body condition score (5-6), which were maintained at semen collection centre, ICAR-National Research Centre on Mithun, Medziphema, Nagaland, India, twice a week, 4 weeks before vaccination (pre-vaccination stage) and 12 weeks after vaccination (post-vaccination stage) to understand and know the influence of vaccine stress on seminal antioxidant as well as oxidative stress profiles in mithun. Vaccine was injected at the end of week 4 and semen samples were collected & analysed up to week 16 of the investigation period. Results: Data analysis showed that foot and mouth disease vaccination has significantly (P<0.05) altered the seminal antioxidant, biochemical and oxidative stress profiles up to week 10th of vaccine administration. However, the immunised bulls were recovered in physical health status, semen production and its antioxidant profiles gradually. Conclusions: The results of the present study suggest that the semen sample collection as well as preservation should to be suspended up to week 10th of post immunization to get antioxidant and biochemical profiles in normal level in the semen to preserve normal conception rate in artificial breeding programme by using such semen in mithun species.展开更多

However, no vaccines or therapeutics are available at present. The causative agents for HFMD include human enterovirus 71(EV71), coxsackievirus A16(CVA16) and some other viruses. Recently, tremendous progress has been made in the development of monovalent and bivalent vaccines against HFMD. A few neutralizing monoclonal antibodies against EV71 or CVA16 have been identified and characterized. Here, we reviewed some achievements for the development of broadly protective vaccines and neutralizing antibodies against HFMD, and discussed challenges and prospects toward broadly protective multivalent vaccines and therapeutic antibodies against HFMD.展开更多

Several lines of investigation over the past few years indicate that CpG DNA plays an important role in the induction of immune responses to DNA vaccines. In this study, CpG DNA-containing synthetic oligodeoxynucleotide (CpG-ODN) was cloned into the eukaryotic expression plasmid encoding a fusion protein containing b- galactosidase from E. coli and immunogenic epitopes of foot- and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) type O, and the immune responses induced by the plasmid were assayed. The results showed that guinea pigs immunized with the recombinant plasmid containing CpG-ODN generated a higher level of FMDV-neutralizing antibody and a stronger T cell proliferative response and protection against viral challenge than those receiving the plasmid containing no CpG-ODN. Our study demonstrated that it is an effective route to enhance the efficacy of DNA vaccines by inserting exogenous CpG DNA into the plasmids, and the DNA vaccine developed here is a promising candidate to prevent FMDV infection.展开更多

Methods:A total of 300 tuberculosis-negative cattles were subcutaneously vaccinated with inactive FMD vaccine. Nine hundred blood samples were collected from the same 300 cattles after 7, 15, and 30 days of vaccination. Then, all samples were tested with IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis. Results:A total of 900 blood samples were tested with IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis and all of the samples were found negative for bovine tuberculosis. Conclusions:Our results indicate that inactive FMD vaccination in cattle do not affect results of IFN-γ assay for tuberculosis.展开更多
