The effect of the addition of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([C4mim][BF4]) on the formation rates of CO2 hydrates was investigate. The isothermal and isobaric methods were used to measure the formation rates of CO2 hydrates. As compared to those of pure water, the data of phase equilibrium changed greatly. The effects of pressure, temperature, and the concentration of [C4mim][BF4] aqueous solution on the formation rates of CO2 hydrates were investigated. With a constant concentration of [C4mim][BF4], the rate of gas consumption was enhanced with the lowering of experimental temperature. However, a decrease in pressure exerted an opposite effect on the rate of gas consumption. Moreover, the addition of [C4mim][BF4] raised the equilibrium pressure of hydrate formation at the same temperature. 展开更多

The Kilo Degree Survey(Ki DS)is currently the only sky survey providing optical(ugri)plus near-infrared(NIR,ZY H JKS)seeing matched photometry over an area larger than 1000 deg2.This is obtained by incorporating the NIR data from the VISTA Kilo Degree Infrared Galaxy(VIKING)survey,covering the same Ki DS footprint.As such,the Ki DS multi-wavelength photometry represents a unique dataset to test the ability of stellar population models to return robust photometric stellar mass(M_(*))and star-formation rate(SFR)estimates.Here we use a spectroscopic sample of galaxies for which we possess ugri ZY JHK_(s)“gaussianized”magnitudes from Ki DS data release 4.We fit the spectral energy distribution from the 9-band photometry using:(1)three different popular libraries of stellar population templates,(2)single burst,simple and delayed exponential star-formation history models,and(3)a wide range of priors on age and metallicity.As template fitting codes we use two popular softwares:Le Phare and CIGALE.We investigate the variance of the stellar masses and the star-formation rates from the different combinations of templates,star formation recipes and codes to assess the stability of these estimates and define some“robust”median quantities to be included in the upcoming Ki DS data releases.As a science validation test,we derive the mass function,the star formation rate function,and the SFR-M_(*)relation for a low-redshift(z<0.5)sample of galaxies,that result in excellent agreement with previous literature data.The final catalog,containing~290000 galaxies with redshift 0.01<z<0.9,is made publicly available. 展开更多

In this work, the effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and combined effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and tetrahydrofuran(THF) on thermodynamic and kinetic properties of CH4+C2H6+C3H8hydrate formation have been studied. Four different concentrations of sodium dodecyl sulfate(100 ppm, 500 ppm,1000 ppm and 1500 ppm) have been used to see its effect on phase equilibrium condition and formation kinetics. Though sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) does not vary the pressure–temperature condition of hydrate formation, it has a prominent favorable effect on induction time, gas consumption, storage capacity and formation rate. The addition of 3%(mol) tetrahydrofuran(THF) to water + SDS system results in large shifts in phase equilibrium boundary to lower pressure and higher temperature. It has been noticed that the addition of tetrahydrofuran further enhances the formation rate. So the mixture of sodium dodecyl sulfate(SDS) and tetrahydrofuran(THF) can be effectively used as promoter for storing natural gas as hydrate. 展开更多

However, it is not economical to apply mist drilling when only a small amount of water flows into wellbore from formation during air drilling. Formation water could be circulated out of the wellbore through increasing the gas injection rate. In this paper, the Angel model was modified by introducing Nikurade friction factor for the flow in coarse open holes and translating formation water rate into equivalent penetration rate. Thus the distribution of annular pressure and the relationship between minimum air injection rate and formation water rate were obtained. Real data verification indicated that the modified model is more accurate than the Angel model and can provide useful information for air drilling. 展开更多

The effect of Al on the morphology of MnS in medium-carbon non-quenched and tempered steel was investigated at three different cooling rates of 0.24, 0.43, and 200°C·s^-1. The formation mechanisms of three types of MnS were elucidated based on phase diagram information combined with crystal growth models. The morphology of MnS is governed by the precipitation mode and the growth conditions. A monotectic reaction and subsequent fast solidification lead to globular Type I MnS. Type II MnS inclusions with different morphological characteristics form as a result of a eutectic reaction followed by the growth in the Fe matrix. Type III MnS presents a divorced eutectic morphology. At the cooling rate of 0.24°C·s^-1, the precipitation of dispersed Type III MnS is significantly enhanced by the addition of 0.044wt% acid-soluble Al(Als), while Type II MnS clusters prefer to form in steels with either 0.034wt% or 0.052wt% Als. At the relatively higher cooling rates of 200°C·s^-1 and 0.43°C·s^-1, the formation of Type I and Type II MnS inclusions is promoted, and the influence of Al is negligible. The results of this work are expected to be employed in practice to improve the mechanical properties of non-quenched and tempered steels. 展开更多

In this paper, we estimate the rate of contact formation between two residues in the interior of the proteins using the Szabo, Schulten, and Schulten formula with the probability distribution P(r) based on 375 proteins from PDB (Protein Data Bank). The probability distribution for residue pair in proteins is different from the Gaussian distribution, especially for short distance between two residues in proteins. The rate of contact formation in the interior of protein is discussed as a function of distance n (=|j -i|) between two residues, and it decreases monotonically with n and follows the scaling relationship of k ∝ n^-γ with γ= 1.43 for the contact radius a = 0.40 nm and γ=1.05 for a = 0.50 nm. The diffusion coefficient for the relative diffusion of two residues in the interior of proteins is estimated as D = 6.4 × 10^-6 cm^2/s, which is close to the result that is found for monomer diffusion. 展开更多

It is important to know the rate of intra-molecular contact formation in proteins in order to understand how proteins fold clearly. Here we investigate the rate of intra-molecular contact formation in short two-dimensional compact polymer chains by calculating the probability distribution p(r) of end-to-end distance r using the enumeration calculation method and HP model on two-dimensional square lattice. The probability distribution of end-to-end distance p(r) of short two-dimensional compact polymers chains may consist of two parts, i.e. p(r) = p1(r) + p2(r), where p1(r) and p2(r) are different for small r. The rate of contact formation decreases monotonically with the number of bonds N, and the rate approximately conforms to the scaling relation of k(N)∝ N^-α. Here the value of α increases with the contact radius a and it also depends on the percentage of H (hydrophobic) residues in the sequences of compact chains and the energy parameters of ^εНН、 ^εНН and ^εpp. Some comparisons of theoretical predictions with experimental results are also made. This investigation may help us to understand the protein folding. 展开更多

In this paper, the saturated solution crystallization method is proposed to promote the formation of hydrate by means of the known similarities between the hydrate formation process and the crystallization process. In this method,adding the second phase crystals was used to replace the spontaneous formation of hydrate crystal nuclei to form hydrate.The effects of saturated Na_2SO_4, MgSO_4, NH_4HCO_3 and CuSO_4 solutions on the formation rates of natural gas hydrate and gas storage capacity were investigated. The results showed that the saturated solution had an influence on the hydrate formation process. Under the given experimental conditions, the saturated Na_2SO_4 solution showed a highest increase in the hydrate formation rate, and the average hydrate formation rate in its presence was 11.8 times higher than that obtained in the deionized water. Moreover, the largest formation rate of gas hydrates observed in the saturated Na_2SO_4 solution was 386 times bigger than that in the deionized water, and the gas storage capacity increased by 10 times. In addition, the average hydrate formation rate in the saturated Mg SO_4 solution was faster than that in water by 20 times. The largest formation rate of gas hydrates in the saturated MgSO_4 solution was 165 times faster than that obtained in the deionized water, and the gas storage capacity increased by 6.2 times. The saturated NH_4HCO_3 and saturated CuSO_4 solutions also influenced the formation process of hydrate. Therefore, the crystallization method of saturated solution can be used to achieve a highefficiency preparation of natural gas hydrates, which provides theoretical guidance for the storage of natural gas in the form of hydrate. 展开更多

Clinical effect of preventive nursing on the rate of deep vein thrombosis in patients with lung cancer: A meta-analysis

Objective:To explore the clinical effect of preventive nursing intervention on deep venous thrombosis rate,nursing satisfaction and average hospitalization time after treatment of lung cancer.Methods:Chinese databases(Wanfang,Weipu and China Knowledge Network)and English databases(Pubmed,Cochrane and Scopus)were searched and read references for relevant research.Statistical analysis was performed using Review Manager 5.3.The odds ratio(OR)and the mean difference(MD)were used as the combined effect values of the comparison groups.Sensitivity analysis was performed by changing the effect model or excluding the literature with a large weight ratio,and the symmetry of the funnel plot was observed for publication bias test.Results:A total of 14 Chinese studies included.Compared with routine nursing intervention,preventive nursing intervention could significantly reduce the rate of deep vein thrombosis after lung cancer treatment[OR=0.16(0.10,0.23)],improve nursing satisfaction[OR=6.42(3.32,12.41)]and shorten the average hospital stay[MD=-7.41(-8.16,-6.65)],without heterogeneous existing.And regardless of whether the lung cancer patient was undergoing resection or chemotherapy,the effect of preventive nursing intervention to reduce the rate of deep vein thrombosis was very significant.Conclusion:Preventive nursing intervention is beneficial to patients with lung cancer,which can significantly reduce the formation rate of deep vein thrombosis,which is worthy of clinical promotion. 展开更多

This article investigates the effects of injection angle, flow rate ratio, density ratio,viscosity ratio, contact angle, and slip length in the process of formation of uniform droplets in microfluidic T-junctions. The governing equations were solved by the commercial software. The results show that contact angle, slip length, and injection angles near the perpendicular and parallel conditions have an increasing effect on the diameter of generated droplets, while flow rate, density and viscosity ratios, and other injection angles had a decreasing effect on the diameter. 展开更多

To understand the contribution of new particle formation(NPF)events to ambient fine particle pollution,measurements of particle size distributions,trace gases and meteorological conditions,were conducted at a suburban site(NJU)from October to December 2016 and at an industrial site(NUIST)from September to November 2015 in Nanjing.According to the temporal evolution of the particle size distributions,three types NPF events were observed:typical NPF(Type A),moderate NPF events(Type B)and strong NPF(Type C)events.The favorable conditions for Type A events included low relative humidity,low concentration of pre-existing particles,and high solar radiation.The favorable conditions of Type B events were similar to Type A,except for a higher concentration of pre-existing particles.Type C events were more likely to happen with the higher relative humidity,lower solar radiation and continuous growth of pre-existing particle concentration.The formation rate of 3 nm(J3)was the lowest for Type A events and highest for Type C events.In contrast,the growth rates of 10 nm and 40 nm particles were the highest for Type A,and lowest for Type C.Results show that NPF events with only higher J3 would lead to the accumulation of nucleation mode particles.Sulfuric acid was important for the formation of particles but had little effect on the growth of particle size. 展开更多

Carbon dioxide transformation to fuels or chemicals provides an attractive approach for its utilization as feedstock and its emission reduction. Herein, we report a gas-phase electrocatalytic reduction of CO2 in an electrolytic cell, constructed using phosphoric acid-doped polybenz- imidazole (PBI) membrane, which allowed operation at 170 ℃ Pt/C and PtMo/C with variable ratio of Pt/Mo were studied as the cathode catalysts. The results showed that PtMo/C catalysts significantly enhanced CO formation and inhibited CH4 formation compared with Pt/C catalyst. Characterization by X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and transmission electron microscopy revealed that most Mo species existed as MoO3 in PtMo/C catalysts and the interaction between Pt and MoOx was likely responsible for the enhanced CO formation rate although these bicomponent catalysts in general had a larger particle size than Pt/C catalyst. 展开更多

Hydroxyl radicals, hydrogen radicals and hydrogen peroxide can be produced under the glow discharge, which are often used to degrade organic contaminants in aqueous solution. In this study, with 4-nitrophenol taken as an example of contaminants and tert-butanol as a scavenger of hydroxyl radicals, the role of energetic species in degrading organic compounds was examined in detail. Moreover, the effects of the applied voltage, solution conductivity and pH on the formation of three energetic species were also observed. Long-term continuous measurements of particle number size distributions with mobility diameter sizes ranging from 3 to 800 nm were pertbrmed to study new particle formation (NPF) events at Shangdianzi (SDZ), Mt. Tai (TS), and Lin'an (LAN) stations representing the background atmospheric conditions in the North China Plain (NCP) Central East China (CEC) and Yangtze River Delta (YRD) regions, respectively. The mean formation rate of 3-nm particles was 6.3, 3.7, and 5.8 cm -3 .s-1, and the mean particle growth rate was 3.6, 6.0, and 6.2 nm. h at SDZ, TS, and LAN, respectively. The NPF, event characteristics at the three sites indicate that there may be a stronger source of low volatile vapors and higher condensational sink of pre-existing particles in the YRD region. The formation rate of NPF events at these sites, as well as the condensation sink, is approximately 10 times higher than some results reported at rural/urban sites in western countries. However, the growth rates appear to be 1 2 times higher. Approximately 12%-17% of all NPF events with nucleated particles grow to a climate- relevant size (〉50 nm). These kinds of NPF events were normally observed with higher growth rate than the other NPF cases. Generally, the cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) number concentration can be enhanced by approximately a factor of 2 6 on these event days. The mean value of the enhancement factor is lowest at LAN (2-3) and highest at SDZ (-4). NPF events have also been found to have greater impact on CCN production in China at the regional scale than in the other background sites worldwide. 展开更多

FTY720 and IMMH002,prodrugs for sphingosine-1-phosphate receptor 1(S1P1)agonists,show inadequate and inconsistent levels of phosphorylation in humans compared to that in rats.In this study,FTY720 or IMMH002 analogues(21-24)were designed and synthesized with modified head pieces to improve the biotransformation of the prodrugs to the active phosphorylated forms.Target compounds were synthesized via a convergent route using the key and optically pure building block 9,which was first synthesized via asymmetrically catalyzed amination.The phosphorylation rates of these analogues in rat or human blood were compared.The new methyl-substituted analogue compound 21 showed higher phosphorylation rates in both rats and humans than the parent compound,whereas compound 23 showed improvements in rats,but not in humans.In pharmacokinetics studies of rats,compounds 21 and 23 both had higher levels of phosphorylation than FTY720 and IMMH002.Thus,our study not only yielded new compounds with therapeutic potential,but also showed species differences between rats and humans in response to the structural modifications,which might be useful for predicting the biotransformation behavior and efficacy of this class of prodrugs in the clinic. 展开更多

Particle number size distribution from 10 to 10,000 nm was measured by a wide-range particle spectrometer (WPS-1000XP) at a downwind site north of downtown Lanzhou, western China, from 25 june to 19 July 2006. We first report the pollution level, diurnal variation of particle concentration in different size ranges and then introduce the characteristics of the particle formation processes, to show that the number concentration of ultrafine particles was lower than the values measured in other urban or suburban areas in previous studies, However, the fraction of ultrafine particles in total aerosol number concentration was found to be much higher. Furthermore, sharp increase of ultrafine particle concentration was frequently observed at noon. An examination of the diurnal pattern suggests that the burst of the ultrafine particles was mainly due to nucleation process. During the 25-day observation, new particle formation (NPF) from homogeneous nucleation was observed during 33% of the study period. The average growth rate of the newly formed particles was 4.4 nm/h, varying from 1.3 to 16,9 nm/h. The needed concentration of condensable vapor was 6.1 × 10^7 cm-3, and its source rate was 1.1× 10^6 cm-3 s 1. Further calculation on the source rate of sulphuric acid vapor indicated that the average participation of sulphuric acid to particle growth rate was 68.3%. 展开更多
