Nevertheless, there is no single test that can reliably classify subjects as being sensitive or insensitive to pain. Methods: In the present study, hierarchical clustering and K-means cluster analysis was used to identify subgroups among 191 healthy subjects (105 females, 86 males) according to their sensitivity to pain. Group determination was based on the subjects’ response to experimental noxious stimuli of heat (pain intensity), cold (cold pain threshold, tolerance, and intensity), and conditioned pain modulation (CPM, tested by co-administering repeated short painful heat stimuli and a conditioning tonic cold pain stimulation). In addition, in order to determine if the subjects in these subgroups differed on personality traits scores on Cloninger’s Tridimensional Personality Questionnaire (TPQ, outcome measure) for the three dimensions of personality: Novelty Seeking (NS);Harm Avoidance (HA);and Reward Dependence (RD) were calculated. Results: Based on pain scores, subjects were grouped as low pain (57%) with a low level of sensitivity in pain parameters, or high pain (43%) cluster members. The high pain had significant higher scores of HA (p = 0.05) and RD (p = 0.05) than the low pain group. Conclusions: This method of sub-grouping may be useful for identifying the mechanisms underlying individual variability in the sensitivity to pain and may point to groups at risk for experiencing high levels of clinical pain.展开更多

Predicting personality from small video series is an excitingresearch area in computer vision. The majority of the existing research concludespreliminary results to get immense knowledge from visual and Audio(sound) modality. To overcome the deficiency, we proposed the Deep BimodalFusion (DBF) approach to predict five traits of personality-agreeableness,extraversion, openness, conscientiousness and neuroticism. In the proposedframework, regarding visual modality, the modified convolution neural networks(CNN), more specifically Descriptor Aggregator Model (DAN) areused to attain significant visual modality. The proposed model extracts audiorepresentations for greater efficiency to construct the long short-termmemory(LSTM) for the audio modality. Moreover, employing modality-based neuralnetworks allows this framework to independently determine the traits beforecombining them with weighted fusion to achieve a conclusive prediction of thegiven traits. The proposed approach attains the optimal mean accuracy score, which is 0.9183. It is achieved based on the average of five personality traitsand is thus better than previously proposed frameworks.展开更多

The impact of “Big Five” on physical health is here explored for older Europeans with a focus on examining age groups differences. The study sample included 378,500 respondents derived from the seventh data wave of Survey of Health, Aging and Retirement in Europe (SHARE). The physical health status of older Europeans was estimated by constructing an index considering the combined effect of well-established health indicators such as the number of chronic diseases, mobility limitations, limitations with basic and instrumental activities of daily living, and self-perceived health. This index was used for an overall physical health assessment, for which the higher the score for an individual, the worst health level. Then, through a dichotomization process applied to the retrieved Principal Component Analysis scores, a two-group discrimination (good or bad health status) of SHARE participants was obtained as regards their physical health condition, allowing for further con-structing logistic regression models to assess the predictive significance of “Big Five” and their protective role for physical health. Results showed that neuroti-cism was the most significant predictor of physical health for all age groups un-der consideration, while extraversion, agreeableness and openness were not found to significantly affect the self-reported physical health levels of midlife adults aged 50 up to 64. Older adults aged 65 up to 79 were more prone to open-ness, whereas the oldest old individuals aged 80 up to 105 were mainly affected by openness and conscientiousness. .展开更多

The present research is a case study, aiming to explore how the Interpersonal meta-function is reflected in the English classroom discourse, as well as to provide some suggestions for pedagogical improvement based on the findings. The results of the analysis indicate that in terms of Mood, the declarative clause is most frequently used, followed by the interrogative and imperative clause respectively; in terms of modality, the teacher uses modal verbs and Mood Adjuncts to express the degree of certainty; in terms of personal pronouns, the teacher prefers to use the first person plural pronouns. It is suggested that the class should be student-centered and that an equal teacher-student relationship should be established.展开更多

The body composition was improved by elderly people eating high caloric-tofu for 2 months. Elderly people decreased body fat and increased body protein. Therefore, in this research, we decided to investigate young people who can improve body composition by eating high caloric-tofu for 2 months. The twenty-two young people (19 men, 3 women: from age 19 years old to 22 years old) who submitted the written consent of the subject participated in this study. We performed the gene analysis (β3AR, UCP1,β2AR) of the subject. The subject lived a normal life every day. The subject had eaten two caloric-tofu a day. A caloric-tofu has 100 kcal. The subject participated in a study for two months. As for the subject, body composition was measured on the first day and the last day of the study. A result, skeletal muscle rates of fifteen people increased, and a fat rate decreased. However, five people changed into neither the skeletal muscle rate nor the fat rate. People who were effective by this experiment were the people who had variation in β2AR, and people among whom there was not an effect were the people who had variation in UCP1. This experiment had little number of the data, but it was revealed that an intake of the caloric-tofu was more likely to help the reinforcement of the skeletal muscle mass to a participant with the variation in β2AR gene. It will be necessary to increase the number of participants more, and to examine it in detail in future. We also need to investigate a wide range of age groups. We thought in future that an effect might appear by doing nourishment instruction based on a result of the gene analysis.展开更多

The fact that personality has a distinguishing feature among individuals explains different behaviors of individuals against events and situations. This arises from the fact that personality is specific to individual and is affected by the effects of many factors with which it interacts, and from the integration of them. In this context, this research is based on the hypothesis that there is a relationship between vocs.tionai school students' demographic features including their family, socio-culture, geographical environments (gender, age, department, grade, parental education, number of siblings, birth order in the family, and the family's income levels), and the personality profiles. The research was carded out as part of five-factor model of personality in an attempt to determine whether vocational school students' personality profiles vary according to demographic variables and to reveal the relationship between them. The research sample consisted of 220 students selected from the students studying in Altmta~ Vocational School in the Spring Term of the 2013-2014 Academic Year. Data were analyzed via SPSS 15.0 statistical package program by performing t-test, analysis of variance and logistic regression analysis. While a significant difference was found between students' five-factor personality profiles according to gender, age, department, average, father's education, and the number of siblings, no significant difference was found among grade, mother's education, birth order in the family, and income levels. Moreover, independent variables affecting students' academic averages were determined as a result of the logistic regression analysis.展开更多

文摘Investigating the role of Big Five personality traits in relation to various health outcomes has been extensively studied. Older adults aged 65 up to 79 were more prone to open-ness, whereas the oldest old individuals aged 80 up to 105 were mainly affected by openness and conscientiousness. .

It is suggested that the class should be student-centered and that an equal teacher-student relationship should be established.
文摘In recent years, analyses of linguistic errors in junior high English writing have been widely carried out in China. However, those studies that specialize in the misuse of personal pronouns are relatively rare.On the basis of Error Analysis theory, this paper regarded the tutored six students in Grade 8 by the author as the subjects, summarized three types of errors in personal pronouns use and their causes by analyzing subjects’writing samples and conducting interviews, and finally put forward some suggestions so as to contribute to the teaching and learning of junior high English writing.

文摘Based on the theoretical framework of Halliday’s interpersonal function, this thesis studies the contrast between Chinese and English cosmetic advertising texts. The author chooses thirty Chinese texts and thirty English texts from famous top magazines as the materials of this study. These samples will be discussed in four perspectives:mood, modality, tense and person systems. There are two main purposes of the study:1)to prove the operability and feasibility in cosmetic advertising texts of Chinese and English from the aspect of interpersonal function.2)to give useful suggestions for composing Chinese and English cosmetic advertisements in the future.
文摘The previous paper by Naomi Katayama et al. reported the effect of high caloric-tofu on elderly people. We thought in future that an effect might appear by doing nourishment instruction based on a result of the gene analysis.
文摘Detection of personality using emotions is a research domain in artificial intelligence. At present, some agents can keep the human’s profile for interaction and adapts themselves according to their preferences. However, the effective method for interaction is to detect the person’s personality by understanding the emotions and context of the subject. The idea behind adding personality in cognitive agents begins an attempt to maximize adaptability on the basis of behavior. In our daily life, humans socially interact with each other by analyzing the emotions and context of interaction from audio or visual input. This paper presents a conceptual personality model in cognitive agents that can determine personality and behavior based on some text input, using the context subjectivity of the given data and emotions obtained from a particular situation/context.The proposed work consists of Jumbo Chatbot, which can chat with humans. In this social interaction, the chatbot predicts human personality by understanding the emotions and context of interactive humans.Currently, the Jumbo chatbot is using the BFI technique to interact with a human. The accuracy of proposed work varies and improve through getting more experiences of interaction.

文摘Psychosis has increasingly become a social problem, emphasizing the need to understand the relationship between mental disorders and personality. This study aimed to investigate the relationship between mental disorders and personality among psychiatric outpatients based on real-world data.Symptom Checklist 90(SCL-90)and Eysenck Personality Questionnaire(EPQ)were used to evaluate the personality and psychopathological symptoms of patients(n=8409)in the Psychiatric Outpatient Department at Nanjing Drum Tower Hospital.t-test was used to compare scores between patients and national norms.Pearson’s correlation coefficient and path analysis were used to explore the relationship between mental health status and personality. The correlation coefficient between the neuroticism(N)score and each factor score of the SCL-90 test,as well as the correlation between psychoticism(P)and hostility and paranoia, exceeded 0.4.Path analysis revealed that the standardized path coefficients of N score and SCL-90 were all higher than 0.4.In addition, the standardized path coefficient of hostility and paranoia on P score were 0.313 and 0.280,respectively.Interpersonal sensitivity, depression and obsessive-compulsive symptoms were affected by extraversion(E)score, with standardized path coefficients of-0.149,-0.138,and-0.105,respectively.The path analysis also showed the direct and indirect effects of age, gender, education, and marital status on SCL-90.Patients characterized as melancholic had higher scores in all factors of SCL-90.In conclusion, mental health was related to personality traits of neuroticism, psychoticism and introversion.
文摘Personality refers to the integration of feelings, thoughts, and behaviors specific to individual. Moreover, independent variables affecting students' academic averages were determined as a result of the logistic regression analysis.
