We created prototypes of th...In this paper, we focus on PHYTOPOROUS, a porous carbon material made entirely from plant-based ingredients, as a new broadband-wave absorber material that acts in the millimeter wave band. We created prototypes of thin rubber-sheet wave absorbers that contain porous carbon (PHYTOPOROUS) made from rice chaff and soybean hulls, which are both agricultural residue products that are generated in large quantities. We investigated the permittivity and reflectance characteristics of this material using the free-space time-domain method. The thin rubber-sheet wave absorber that contained PHYTOPOROUS made from soybean hulls exhibited a frequency band that was approximately 18 GHz wide and centered at 90 GHz. The return loss for this material was greater than −20 dB. This demonstrates that the material provides nearly constant reflection absorption over a wide frequency band.展开更多
The vibration analysis of a plate on an elastic foundation is an important problem in engineering. It is the interaction of a plate with the three-dimensional half space and the plate is usually loaded from both the u...The vibration analysis of a plate on an elastic foundation is an important problem in engineering. It is the interaction of a plate with the three-dimensional half space and the plate is usually loaded from both the upper and lower surfaces. The contact pressure from the soil can not be predefined. According to Lamb's solution for a single oscillating force acting on a point on the surface of an elastic half space, and the relevant approximation formulae, a relation between the local pressure and the deflection of the plate has been proposed. Based on this analysis, the reaction of the soil can be represented as the deformation of the plate. Therefore, the plate can be separated from the soil and only needs to be divided by a number of elements in the analysis. The following procedure is the same as the standard finite element method. This is a semi-analytical and semi-numerical method. It has been applied to the dynamic analysis of circular or rectangular plates on the elastic half space, at low or high frequency vibration, and on rigid, soft or flexible foundations. The results show that this method is versatile and highly accurate.展开更多
A three-dimensional state space method has been developed for the calculation of dynamic response of plates with two free edges and two simply supported edges.A complex damping model was introduced, then the exact sol...A three-dimensional state space method has been developed for the calculation of dynamic response of plates with two free edges and two simply supported edges.A complex damping model was introduced, then the exact solutions which satisfy all the governing equations and boundary conditions were obtained.In order to overcome the difficulty of satisfying all the stress conditions at free edges, the displacement functions of free edges were assumed.The boundary conditions were strictly satisfied when the convergence rate was good.The computing time was evidently less than that of finite element method.The comparison of the solution with those of finite element method show that there is an excellent agreement for displacements.When the imaginary parts of normal stress deviated, the finite element results showed existence of shear stresses at top and bottom surfaces, and the boundary conditions of FEM model were not strictly satisfied.展开更多

In the modified ELM, equilibrium over the lines on the natural boundary is satisfied as Neumann boundary condition equations. In other words, the natural boundary conditions are satisfied naturally by using the weak formulation. The performance of the modified version of the ELM is studied for collocation methods based on two different ways to construct meshless shape functions: moving least squares approximation and radial basis point interpolation. Numerical examples of two-dimensional free and forced vibration analyses show that by using the modified ELM, more stable and accurate results would be obtained in comparison with the direct collocation method.展开更多
For the problem of free⁃floating space robot(FFSR)that the motion of manipulator will cause a large disturbance to the attitude of satellite,a path planning method based on hp⁃adaptive Gauss pseudospectral method(hp⁃A...For the problem of free⁃floating space robot(FFSR)that the motion of manipulator will cause a large disturbance to the attitude of satellite,a path planning method based on hp⁃adaptive Gauss pseudospectral method(hp⁃AGPM)is proposed in this paper.In this method,the minimum reaction torque acting on satellite is taken as the objective function,and the number of segments and the order of polynomial in each segment are determined adaptively to improve the accuracy and the efficiency of the solution.At the same time,the theoretical convergence of the designed method is innovatively proved to ensure that the solution of the discretized nonlinear programming(NLP)problem is the optimal solution to the original optimal problem.The simulation results of a planar two degree⁃of⁃freedom(2⁃DOF)space manipulator show that the proposed path planning method is more effective than the resolved acceleration control(RAC)method and the control variable parameterization(CVP)method,and is better than other pseudospectral methods both in computation speed and the number of collocation points.展开更多
