With series inductors, the leading switches can realize zero current swit ching (ZCS) in a wide load range using the energy of the output capacitor. Ma king use of parasitic capacitors of the lagging switches and parallel auxiliary i nductance with the primary winding of the transformer, the lagging switches can realize zero voltage switching (ZVS) under any load. Compared with the ZCS PWM Boost FB converter, the new converter has no current duty cycle loss. Operat ional principle and parameter design are analyzed. Due to simple and effective methodology, average state space is the most common method among the modelling methods. In this paper a bidirectional full bridge converter is modelled by average state space and for each mode of operations a controller is designed. A simplified full-depth precast concrete deck panel system for accelerating bridge construction (ABC) is introduced and a finite dement analysis (FEA) is con- ducted to investigate the static and dynamic responses...A simplified full-depth precast concrete deck panel system for accelerating bridge construction (ABC) is introduced and a finite dement analysis (FEA) is con- ducted to investigate the static and dynamic responses of this conceptual deck system. The FEA results are compared to those of the traditional full-depth precast concrete deck panel system. The comparison results show that the mechanical behavior of the new deck system is different from that of the traditional deck system. The concrete decks in the new system act as two-way slabs, instead of the one-way slab in the traditional system. Meanwhile, the connections in both the longitudinal and transverse direc- tions may need to accommodate the negative moments. Compared to those in the traditional system, the longitu- dinal nominal stress at middle span increases a lot in the new deck system and the effective flange width varies significantly. In addition, the dynamic results show that the impact factor is influenced by the spacing of connections. Finally, some design concerns of the new deck system are proposed.展开更多

The relative displacement of roadway floor, narrow pillar floor coal mass and floor strata was calculated, the results showed that the high abutment pressure on coal mass beside the roadway was the main reason to lead to relative displacement of floor strata. And the roadway floor heave come mainly from three aspects. Firstly, the roadway floor strata is easily fractured by the stretch stress. Secondly, because the high abutment pressure is greater than the uniaxial compressive strength of floor strata, when the roadway floor strata are fractured, the coal mass floor strata at the same depth will be fractured, and broken rock will fluid into the open roadway. One reason for peak voltage is the resonance of the transformer's leakage inductance and the rectifier diodes' junction capacitances. The other reason is that the fast reverse recovery current of the rectifier diodes flows through the transformer's leakage inductance. An H bridge composed of four diodes,an auxiliary inductance, and a clamping winding were adopted in the proposed converter,and peak voltage was suppressed by varying the equivalent inductance, principally in different operating modes. Experimental results demonstrate that the peak voltage of rectifier diodes decreases by 43%,the auxiliary circuit does not lead to additional loss, and the rising rate, resonant frequency,and amplitude of the rectifier diodes' voltage decrease.Peak voltage and electromagnetic interference( EMI) of rectifier diodes are suppressed.展开更多

In order to design a high performance EMI filter, many issues need to be considered beforehand. Some important issues including accurate model of converter components, parasitic elements, its effect on EMI noise and impedance mismatch are included in this paper. A numerical prediction of EMI/EMC has the potential to evaluate EMI performances at the design stage and before prototyping. It can also help reduce the post-prototype EMC cost by minimizing late redesign and modifications of a design implementation. Saber simulator is used to analyze the EMI noises and EMI filter’s performance. Conducted EMI noise measurement and EMI filter design of isolated full bridge buck converter has been achieved while successfully satisfying the FCC class B limits in the frequency range from 150 kHz to 30 MHz. Simulation results are compared with experimental data and the effectiveness of the EMI simulation approach is demonstrated.展开更多

The converter efficiency is maximized due to soft switching of the full bridge MOSFETs and the synchronous MOSFETs, and also the low conduction loss of synchronous MOSFET. The operation principles of the circuit are analyzed in detail and the small-signal model is derived, also the converter dynamic characteristics are analyzed. Frequency responses of transfer functions under different values of transformer primary leakage inductance are discussed. The experimental results were obtained from a 400 V input and 100 A/12 V output DC/DC converter operating at 100 kHz. The results show that the converter efficiency is 2% higher in rated power than traditional diode rectifier.展开更多

The...Long-span bridges are special structures that require advanced analysis techniques to examine their performance. This paper presents a procedure developed to model the Confederation Bridge using 3-D beam elements. The model was validated using the data collected before the opening of the bridge to the public. The bridge was instrumented to conduct fullscale static and dynamic tests. The static tests were to measure the deflection of the bridge pier while the dynamic tests to measure the free vibrations of the pier due to a sudden release of the static load. Confederation Bridge is one of the longest reinforced concrete bridges in the world. It connects the province of Prince Edward Island and the province of New Brunswick in Canada. Due to its strategic location and vital role as a transportation link between these two provinces, it was designed using higher safety factors than those for typical highway bridges. After validating the present numerical model, a procedure was developed to evaluate the performance of similar bridges subjected to traffic and seismic loads. It is of interest to note that the foundation stiffness and the modulus of elasticity of the concrete have significant effects on the structural responses of the Confederation Bridge.展开更多

The first part of the study deals with an iteration scheme for the nonlinea...This paper is concerned with the earthquake analysis of suspension bridges, in which the effects of large deflections are taken into account. The first part of the study deals with an iteration scheme for the nonlinear static analysis of suspension bridges by means of tangent stiffness matrices. The concept of tangent stiffness matrix is then introduced in the frequency equation governing the free vibration of the system. At any equilibrium stage, the vibrations are assumed to take place tangent to the curve representing the force-deflection characteristics of the structure. The bridge is idealized as a three dimensional lumped mass system and subjected to three orthogonal components of earthquake ground motion producing horizontal, vertical and torsional oscillations. By this means a realistic appraisal is achieved for torsional response as well as for the other types of vibration. The modal response spectrum technique is applied to evaluate the seismic loading for the combination of these vibrations. Various numerical examples are introduced in order to demonstrate the method of analysis. The procedure described enables the designer to evaluate the nonlinear dynamic response of suspension bridges in a systematic manner.展开更多

A new vision-based long-distance lane perception and front vehicle location method was developed for decision making of full autonomous vehicles on highway roads,Firstly,a real-time long-distance lane detection approa...A new vision-based long-distance lane perception and front vehicle location method was developed for decision making of full autonomous vehicles on highway roads,Firstly,a real-time long-distance lane detection approach was presented based on a linear-cubic road model for two-lane highways.By using a novel robust lane marking feature which combines the constraints of intensity,edge and width,the lane markings in far regions were extracted accurately and efficiently.Next,the detected lane lines were selected and tracked by estimating the lateral offset and heading angle of ego vehicle with a Kalman filter,Finally,front vehicles were located on correct lanes using the tracked lane lines,Experiment results show that the proposed lane perception approach can achieve an average correct detection rate of 94.37% with an average false positive detection rate of 0.35%,The proposed approaches for long-distance lane perception and front vehicle location were validated in a 286 km full autonomous drive experiment under real traffic conditions.This successful experiment shows that the approaches are effective and robust enough for full autonomous vehicles on highway roads.展开更多
