The problem of track control is studied for a class of strict-feedback stochastic nonlinear systems in which unknown virtual control gain function is the main feature. First, the so-called stochastic LaSalle theory is extended to some extent, and accordingly, the results of global ultimate boundedness for stochastic nonlinear systems are developed. Next, a new design scheme of fuzzy adaptive control is proposed. The advantage of it is that it does not require priori knowledge of virtual control gain function sign, which is usually demanded in many designs. At the same time, the track performance of closed-loop systems is improved by adaptive modifying the estimated error upper bound. By theoretical analysis, the signals of closed-loop systems are globally ultimately bounded in probability and the track error converges to a small residual set around the origin in 4th-power expectation. 展开更多

This paper deals with the problem of tracking control for a class of high order nonlinear systems with input delay. The unknown continuous functions of the system are estimated by fuzzy logic systems (FLS). A state conversion method is introduced to eliminate the delayed input item. By means of the backstepping algorithm, the property of semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB) of the closed-loop system is achieved. The stability of the closed-loop system is proved according to Lyapunov second theorem on stability. The tracking error is proved to be bounded which ultimately converges to an adequately small compact set. Finally, a computer simulation example of high order nonlinear systems is presented, which illustrates the effectiveness of the control scheme. 展开更多

In this paper, a fuzzy adaptive tracking control for uncertain strict-feedback nonlinear systems with unknown bounded disturbances is proposed. The generalized fuzzy hyperbolic model (GFHM) with better approximation performance is used to approximate the unknown nonlinear function in the system. The dynamic surface control (DSC) is used to design the controller, which not only avoids the “explosion of complexity” problem in the process of repeated derivation, but also makes the control system simpler in structure and lower in computational cost because only one adaptive law is designed in the controller design process. Through the Lyapunov stability analysis, all signals in the closed loop system designed in this paper are semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded (SGUUB). Using fuzzy logic systems to approximate the unknown nonlinear functions, a fuzzy state observer is designed for estimating the unmeasured states. On the basis of the state observer and applying the backstepping technique, an adaptive fuzzy observer control approach is developed. The main features of the proposed adaptive fuzzy control approach not only guarantees that all the signals of the closed-loop system are semiglobally uniformly ultimately bounded, but also contain less adaptation parameters to be updated on-line. In this paper, the robust adaptive fuzzy tracking control problem is discussed for a class of perturbed strict-feedback nonlinear systems. The fuzzy logic systems in Mamdani type are used to approximate unknown nonlinear functions. A design scheme of the robust adaptive fuzzy controller is proposed by use of the backstepping technique. The proposed controller guarantees semi-global uniform ultimate boundedness of all the signals in the derived closed-loop system and achieves the good tracking performance. The possible controller singularity problem which may occur in some existing adaptive control schemes with feedback linearization techniques can be avoided. In addition, the number of the on-line adaptive parameters is not more than the order of the designed system. Finally, two simulation examples are used to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. 展开更多

A new adaptive Type-2 (T2) fuzzy controller was developed and its potential performance advantage over adaptive Type-1 (T1) fuzzy control was also quantified in computer simulation.Base on the Lyapunov method,the adaptive laws with guaranteed system stability and convergence were developed.The controller updates its parameters online using the laws to control a system and tracks its output command trajectory.The simulation study involving the popular inverted pendulum control problem shows theoretically predicted system stability and good tracking performance.And the comparison simulation experiments subjected to white noise or step disturbance indicate that the T2 controller is better than the T1 controller by 0-18%,depending on the experiment condition and performance measure. 展开更多

Combining reaching law approach and fuzzy universal approximation theorem, the proposed design procedure combines the advantages of fuzzy logic control, adaptive control and sliding mode control. The stability of the control systems is proved in the sense of the Lyapunov second stability theorem. A class of unknown nonlinear systems subject to uncertain actuator faults and external disturbances will be studied in this paper with the help of fuzzy approximation theory. Using backstepping technique, a novel adaptive fuzzy control approach is proposed to accommodate the uncertain actuator faults during operation and deal with the external disturbances though the systems cannot be linearized by feedback. The considered faults are modeled as both loss of effectiveness and lock-in-place (stuck at some unknown place). It is proved that the proposed control scheme can guarantee all signals of the closed-loop system to be semi-globally uniformly ultimately bounded and the tracking error between the system output and the reference signal converge to a small neighborhood of zero, though the nonlinear functions of the controlled system as well as the actuator faults and the external disturbances are all unknown. Simulation results demonstrate the effectiveness of the control approach. 展开更多

A new design scheme of stable adaptive fuzzy control for a class of nonlinear systems is proposed in this paper.The T-S fuzzy model is employed to represent the systems.First,the concept of the so-called parallel distributed compensation (PDC) and linear matrix inequality (LMI) approach are employed to design the state feedback controller without considering the error caused by fuzzy modeling.Sufficient conditions with respect to decay rate α are derived in the sense of Lyapunov asymptotic stability.Finally,the error caused by fuzzy modeling is considered and the input-to-state stable (ISS) method is used to design the adaptive compensation term to reduce the effect of the modeling error.By the small-gain theorem,the resulting closed-loop system is proved to be input-to-state stable.Theoretical analysis verifies that the state converges to zero and all signals of the closed-loop systems are bounded.The effectiveness of the proposed controller design methodology is demonstrated through numerical simulation on the chaotic Henon system. 展开更多

In this paper, an indirect adaptive fuzzy output feedback controller with supervisory mode for a class of unknown nonlinear systems is developed. The proposed approach does not need the availability of the state variables, moreover, a supervisory controller is appended to the adaptive fuzzy controller to force the state to be within the constraint set. Therefore, if the adaptive fuzzy controller cannot maintain the stability, the supervisory controller starts to work to guarantee stability. On the other hand, if the adaptive fuzzy controller works well, the supervisory controller will be de-activated. The overall adaptive fuzzy control scheme guarantees the stability of the whole closed-loop systems. The simulation results confirm the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

The core task of tracking control is to make the controlled plant track a desired trajectory.The traditional performance index used in previous studies cannot eliminate completely the tracking error as the number of time steps increases.In this paper,a new cost function is introduced to develop the value-iteration-based adaptive critic framework to solve the tracking control problem.Unlike the regulator problem,the iterative value function of tracking control problem cannot be regarded as a Lyapunov function.A novel stability analysis method is developed to guarantee that the tracking error converges to zero.The discounted iterative scheme under the new cost function for the special case of linear systems is elaborated.Finally,the tracking performance of the present scheme is demonstrated by numerical results and compared with those of the traditional approaches. 展开更多

In this paper, the adaptive robust tracking control scheme is proposed for a class of multi-input and multioutput(MIMO) non-affine systems with uncertain structure and parameters, unknown control direction and unknown external disturbance based on backstepping technique. The MIMO nonaffine system is first transformed into a time-varying system with strict feedback structure using the mean value theorem,and then the bounded time-varying parameters are estimated by adaptive algorithms with projection. To handle the possible"controller singularity" problem caused by unknown control direction, a Nussbaum function is employed, and the dynamic surface control(DSC) method is applied to solve the problem of"explosion of complexity" in backstepping control. It is proved that the proposed control scheme can guarantee that all signals of the closed-loop system are bounded through Lyapunov stability theorem and decoupled backstepping method. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed control scheme. 展开更多

A novel H∞ tracking-based decentralized indirect adaptive output feedback fuzzy controller for a class of uncertain large-scale nonlinear systems is developed. By virtue of the proper filtering of the observation error dynamics, the observer-based decentralized indirect adaptive fuzzy control scheme is presented for a class of large-scale nonlinear systems using the combination of H∞ tracking technique, a fuzzy adaptive observer and fuzzy inference systems. The output feedback and adaptation mechanisms are both robust and implementable indeed owing to their freedom from the unavailable observation error vector. All the signals of the closed-loop largescale system are guaranteed to stay uniformly bounded and the output errors take on H∞ tracking performance. A special architecture adaptive neural network, with hyperbolic tangent activation functions, is used to emulate the equivalent and switching control terms of the classic sliding mode control (SMC). Lyapunov stability theory is used to guarantee a uniform ultimate boundedness property for the tracking error, as well as of all other signals in the closed loop. In addition to keeping the stability and robustness properties of the SMC, the neural network-based adaptive sliding mode controller exhibits perfect rejection of faults arising during the system operating. Due to its great potential value in theory and application,fault-tolerant control strategies of nonlinear systems,especially combining with intelligent control methods,have been a focus in the academe.A fault-tolerant control method based on fuzzy neural networks was presented for nonlinear systems in this paper.The fault parameters were designed to detect the fault,adaptive updating method was introduced to estimate and track fault,and fuzzy neural networks were used to adjust the fault parameters and construct automated fault diagnosis.And the fault compensation control force,which was given by fault estimation,was used to realize adaptive fault-tolerant control.This framework leaded to a simple structure,an accurate detection,and a high robustness.The simulation results in induction motor show that it is still able to work well with high dynamic performance and control precision under the condition of motor parameters' variation fault and load torque disturbance. 展开更多

The online control algorithm uses fuzzy logic sets for the identification of the fractional order chaotic system, whereas the lack of a priori knowledge on the control directions is solved by introducing a fractional order Nussbaum gain. Based on Lyapunov stability theorem, stability analysis is performed for the proposed control method for an acceptable synchronization error level. In this work, the Gr ¨unwald-Letnikov method is used for numerical approximation of the fractional order systems.
