The accurate control for the vehicle height and leveling adjustment system of an electronic air suspension(EAS) still is a challenging problem that has not been effectively solved in prior researches. This paper proposes a new adaptive controller to control the vehicle height and to adjust the roll and pitch angles of the vehicle body(leveling control) during the vehicle height adjustment procedures by an EAS system. A nonlinear mechanism model of the full?car vehicle height adjustment system is established to reflect the system dynamic behaviors and to derive the system optimal control law. To deal with the nonlinear characters in the vehicle height and leveling adjustment processes, the nonlinear system model is globally linearized through the state feedback method. On this basis, a fuzzy sliding mode controller(FSMC) is designed to improve the control accuracy of the vehicle height adjustment and to reduce the peak values of the roll and pitch angles of the vehicle body. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed control method more accurately, the full?car EAS system model programmed using AMESim is also given. Then, the co?simulation study of the FSMC performance can be conducted. Finally, actual vehicle tests are performed with a city bus, and the test results illustrate that the vehicle height adjustment performance is effectively guaranteed by the FSMC, and the peak values of the roll and pitch angles of the vehicle body during the vehicle height adjustment procedures are also reduced significantly. This research proposes an effective control methodology for the vehicle height and leveling adjustment system of an EAS, which provides a favorable control performance for the system. 展开更多

An adaptive fuzzy sliding mode strategy is developed for the generalized projective synchronization of a fractional- order chaotic system, where the slave system is not necessarily known in advance. Based on the designed adaptive update laws and the linear feedback method, the adaptive fuzzy sliding controllers are proposed via the fuzzy design, and the strength of the designed controllers can he adaptively adjusted according to the external disturbances. Based on the Lya- punov stability theorem, the stability and the robustness of the controlled system are proved theoretically. Numerical simu- lations further support the theoretical results of the paper and demonstrate the efficiency of the proposed method. Moreover, it is revealed that the proposed method allows us to manipulate arbitrarily the response dynamics of the slave system by adjusting the desired scaling factor λi and the desired translating factor ηi, which may be used in a channel-independent chaotic secure communication. 展开更多

In this paper, a novel fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC) guidance law with terminal constraints of miss distance, impact angle and acceleration is presented for a constant speed missile against the stationary or slowly moving target. The proposed guidance law combines the sliding mode control algorithm with a fuzzy logic control scheme for the lag-free system and the first-order lag system. Through using Lyapunov stability theory, we prove the sliding surface converges to zero in finite time. Furthermore, considering the uncertain information and system disturbances, the guidance gains are on-line optimized by fuzzy logic technique. Numerical simulations are performed to demonstrate the performance of the FSMC guidance law and the results illustrate the validity and effectiveness of the proposed guidance law. 展开更多

In this paper, a fuzzy sliding mode active disturbance rejection control(FSMADRC) scheme is proposed for an autonomous underwater vehicle-manipulator system(AUVMS) with a two-link and three-joint manipulator. First, the AUVMS is separated into nine subsystems, and the combined effects of dynamic uncertainties, hydrodynamic force, unknown disturbances, and nonlinear coupling terms on each subsystem are lumped into a single total disturbance. Next, a linear extended state observer(LESO) is presented to estimate the total disturbance. Then, a sliding mode active disturbance rejection control(SMADRC) scheme is proposed to enhance the robustness of the control system. The stability of the SMADRC and the estimation errors of the LESO are analyzed. Because it is difficult to simultaneously adjust several parameters for a LESO-based SMADRC scheme, a fuzzy logic control(FLC) scheme is used to formulate the FSMADRC to determine the appropriate parameters adaptively for practical applications. Finally, two AUVMS tasks are illustrated to test the trajectory tracking performance of the closed-loop system and its ability to reject and attenuate the total disturbance. The simulation results show that the proposed FSMADRC scheme achieves better performance and consume less energy than conventional PID and FLC techniques. 展开更多

This paper focuses on the controller design using fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC)with application to electro-mechanical brake(EMB)systems using BLDC Motor. The EMB controller transmits the control signal to the motor driver to rotate the motor. The torque distribution of motors is studied in this paper actually.Firstly, the model of the EMB system is established. Then the state observer is developed to estimate the vehicle states including the vehicle velocity and longitudinal force.Due to the fact that the EMB system is nonlinear and uncertain,a FSMC strategy based on wheel slip ratio is proposed, where both the normal and emergency braking conditions are taken into account. The equivalent control law of sliding mode controller is designed on the basis of the variation of the front axle and rear axle load during the brake process, while the switching control law is adjusted by the fuzzy corrector. The simulation results illustrate that the FSMC strategy has the superior performance, better adaptability to various types of roads, and shorter braking distance,as compared to PID control and traditional sliding mode control technologies. Finally, the hardware-in-loop(HIL)experimental results have exemplified the validation of the developed methodology. 展开更多

According to a class of nonlinear SISO discrete systems, the fiizzy sliding mode control problem is considered. Based on Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy model method, a fuzzy model is designed to describe the local dynamic performance of the given nonlinear systems. By using the sliding mode control approach, the global controller is constructed by integrating all the local state controllers and the global supervisory sliding mode controller. The tracking problem can be easily dealt with by taking advantage of the combined controller, and the robustness performance is improved finally. A simulation example is given to show the effectiveness and feasibility of the method proposed. 展开更多

This article addresses the finite-time boundedness(FTB)problem for nonlinear descriptor systems.Firstly, the nonlinear descriptor system is represented by the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)model,where fuzzy representation is assumed to be appearing not only in both the state and input matrices but also in the derivative matrix.By using a descriptor redundancy approach, the fuzzy representation in the derivative matrix is reformulated into a linear one. Then,we introduce a fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC)law, which ensures the finite-time boundedness(FTB)of closed-loop fuzzy control systems over the reaching phase and sliding motion phase. Moreover,by further employing the descriptor redundancy representation, the sufficient condition for designing FSMC law, which ensures the FTB of the closed-loop control systems over the entire finite-time interval,is derived in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs).Finally,a simulation study with control of a photovoltaic(PV)nonlinear system is given to show the effectiveness of the proposed method. 展开更多

An integrated hydrodynamics and control model to simulate tethered underwater robot system is proposed. The governing equation of the umbilical cable is based on a finite difference method, the hydrodynamic behaviors of the underwater robot are described by the six-degrees-of-freedom equations of motion for submarine simulations, and a controller based on the fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC) algorithm is also incorporated. Fluid motion around the main body of moving robot with running control ducted propellers is governed by the Navier–Stokes equations and these nonlinear differential equations are solved numerically via computational fluid dynamics(CFD) technique. The hydrodynamics and control behaviors of the tethered underwater robot under certain designated trajectory and attitude control manipulation are then investigated based on the established hydrodynamics and control model. The results indicate that satisfactory control effect can be achieved and hydrodynamic behavior under the control operation can be observed with the model; much kinematic and dynamic information about tethered underwater robot system can be forecasted, including translational and angular motions of the robot, hydrodynamic loading on the robot, manipulation actions produced by the control propellers, the kinematic and dynamic behaviors of the umbilical cable. Since these hydrodynamic effects are fed into the proposed coupled model, the mutual hydrodynamic influences of different portions of the robot system as well as the hydrological factors of the undersea environment for the robot operation are incorporated in the model. 展开更多

The control strategy is presented using passive and active hybrid magnetically suspended flywheels(P&A MSFWs),which can help meet the requirements of high precision and high stability for earth-observation satellites.Compared with the conventional flywheel,P&A MSFW has more rotation degrees of freedom(DOFs)since the rotor is suspended by magnetic bearings, and thus requires more efficient controllers.A modified sliding mode control law(SMC)to our novel nonlinear and coupled system is presented, which is interrupted by inertia matrix uncertainties and external disturbances.SMC law via Lyapunov method is improved, and a fuzzy control scheme is used to attenuate the chatting and control attitude accuracy and maintain the robustness of SMC.Simulation results are provided to illustrate the efficiency of our model by using our control law. 展开更多

This paper presents a nonlinear control approach to variable speed wind turbine(VSWT)with a wind speed estimator. The dynamics of the wind turbine(WT)is derived from single mass model. In this work,a modified Newton Raphson estimator has been considered for exact estimation of effective wind speed. The main objective of this work is to extract maximum energy from the wind at below rated wind speed while reducing drive train oscillation. In order to achieve the above objectives,VSWT should operate close to the optimal power coefficient. The generator torque is considered as the control input to achieve maximum energy capture. From the literature,it is clear that existing linear and nonlinear control techniques suffer from poor tracking of WT dynamics, increased power loss and complex control law.In addition, they are not robust with respect to input disturbances. In order to overcome the above drawbacks, adaptive fuzzy integral sliding mode control(AFISMC)is proposed for VSWT control. The proposed controller is tested with different types of disturbances and compared with other nonlinear controllers such as sliding mode control and integral sliding mode control. The result shows the better performance of AFISMC and its robustness to input disturbances. In this paper, the discontinuity in integral sliding mode controller is smoothed by using hyperbolic tangent function, and the sliding gain is adapted using a fuzzy technique which makes the controller more robust. 展开更多

A new extension of the conventional adaptive fuzzy sliding mode control(AFSMC) scheme, for the case of under-actuated and uncertain affine multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO) systems, is presented. In particular, the assumption for non-zero diagonal entries of the input gain matrix of the plant is relaxed. In other words, the control effect of one actuator can propagate from a subgroup of canonical state equations to the rest of equations in an indirect sense. The asymptotic stability of the proposed AFSM control method is proved using a Lyapunov-based methodology. The effectiveness of the proposed method for the case of under-actuated systems is investigated in the presence of plant uncertainties and disturbances, through simulation studies. 展开更多

This paper presents a new method combining sliding mode control(SMC) and fuzzy logic control(FLC) to enhance the robustness and performance for a class of non-linear control systems. This fuzzy sliding mode control(FSMC) is developed for application in the area for controlling the speed and flux loops of asynchronous motors. The proposed control law can solve those problems associated with the conventional control by sliding mode control, such as high current, flux and torque chattering, variable switching frequency and variation of parameters, in which a robust fuzzy logic controller replaces the discontinuous part of the classical sliding mode control law. Simulation results of the proposed FSMC technique on the speed and flux rotor controllers present good dynamic and steady-state performances compared to the classical SMC in terms of reduction of the torque chattering, quick dynamic torque response and robustness to disturbance and variation of parameters. 展开更多
