Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined to dual-phase steel with and without Zn layer by ultrasonic and friction stir welding

Galvanic corrosion of AZ31B joined with bare or Zn-coated DP590 steel by ultrasonic spot welding or linear friction stir welding was quantitatively studied by pre-defining anode and cathode in the lap joint samples. Corrosion volume and depth from Mg anode surfaces exposed to 0.1 M sodium chloride solution was analyzed as functions of cathode surface type and welding method. Characterization of as-welded joints was performed to identify any microstructural feature of the bonding zone that could impact galvanic corrosion behavior.COMSOL modeling with modified user subroutine was conducted to simulate the progression of Mg corrosion in the same joint and electrode configurations used for the corrosion experiments. The experimental results indicated that Zn-coated cathode surface can reduce Mg galvanic corrosion significantly as galvanic polarization and cathodic current on Zn-coated surface remained relatively low for Mg in the weld joints.COMSOL modeling described the growth of Mg galvanic corrosion in a reasonable manner but showed limitation by underestimating the corrosion volume as it did not capture self-corrosion. 展开更多

合金化镀锌(GA)镀层具有复杂的多相结构。为了表征GA镀层中的相分布,通过扫描电镜(SEM)和透射电镜(TEM)观察镀层的形貌,通过辉光放电光谱(GDS)、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)和X射线衍射(XRD)分析镀层的厚度、元素分布和物相结构,并采用恒电流... 合金化镀锌(GA)镀层具有复杂的多相结构。为了表征GA镀层中的相分布,通过扫描电镜(SEM)和透射电镜(TEM)观察镀层的形貌,通过辉光放电光谱(GDS)、X射线光电子能谱(XPS)和X射线衍射(XRD)分析镀层的厚度、元素分布和物相结构,并采用恒电流极化对镀层进行了剥离,研究了镀层中不同相的电化学性能。结果表明:GA镀层由多相组成,从上往下依次为ζ相、δ相、Γ1相、Γ相,随着镀层厚度的增加铁含量增大;ζ相、δ相具有较好的耐蚀性,且ζ相和δ相之间的电位差较小,其电偶腐蚀作用较小,当δ相腐蚀消耗完全后,Γ1相、Γ相和基体才会发生腐蚀,其中Γ相的自腐蚀电位较负,先发生腐蚀。因此,δ相应保持均匀和厚实,以保护基体免受腐蚀。 展开更多

It is found that the galvanic couple simulative experiment accords with the actual immersion,and it can be substantially used to simulate the behavior of LY12 aluminum alloy in thefilm-forming process. It is showed that the formation of the coating is quickened in CeCl_3 solutioncontaining KMnO_4 compared with that not containing KMnO_4. XPS results reveal that the coatingformed on cathode is composed of oxide or hydroxide of Ce and Mn, so the mechanism of formation ofREM conversion coating changes when KMnO4 is added. 展开更多

为探究连续热镀锌气刀射流拭锌过程中发生的带钢边部压力衰减问题,设计了气流冲击平板实验,对带钢表面气流流向及压力进行测定.基于测量的参数,对该气刀射流喷吹过程进行数值模拟,并结合所推导的镀层厚度计算模型,对为减少带钢边部压力... 为探究连续热镀锌气刀射流拭锌过程中发生的带钢边部压力衰减问题,设计了气流冲击平板实验,对带钢表面气流流向及压力进行测定.基于测量的参数,对该气刀射流喷吹过程进行数值模拟,并结合所推导的镀层厚度计算模型,对为减少带钢边部压力衰减所增设的边部挡板进行了厚度优化.研究结果表明:气刀喷吹时带钢边部气流发生横向偏转,使得带钢边部压力较中心处低,气压衰减率随气刀与带钢的间隔距离增加而增加,增设边部挡板能有效阻碍带钢边部压力衰减和降低边部过镀锌缺陷发生,且挡板厚度为2 mm时的作用效果最佳. 展开更多

A number of industrial and biomedical fields,such as hydraulic fracturing balls for gas and petroleum exploitation and implant materials,require Mg alloys with rapid dissolution.An iron-bearing phosphate chemical conversion(PCC)coating with self-catalytic degradation function was fabricated on the Mg alloy AZ31.Surface morphologies,chemical compositions and degradation behaviors of the PCC coating were investigated through FE-SEM,XPS,XRD,FTIR,electrochemical and hydrogen evolution tests.Results indicated that the PCC coating was characterized by iron,its phosphates and hydroxides,amorphous Mg(OH)2 and Mg3-n(HnPO4)2.The self-catalytic degradation effects were predominately concerned with the Fe concentration,chemical composition and microstructure of the PCC coating,which were ascribed to the galvanic corrosion between Fe in the PCC coating and the Mg substrate.The coating with higher Fe content and porous microstructure exhibited a higher degradation rate than that of the AZ31 substrate,while the coating with a trace of Fe and compact surface disclosed a slightly enhanced corrosion resistance for the AZ31 substrate. 展开更多
