So the stress characteristic line conforms to the velocity line. It is proved that geotechnical materials do not abide by the associated flow rule. It is impossible for the stress characteristic line to conform to the velocity line. Generalized plastic mechanics theoretically proved that plastic potential surface intersects the Mohr-Coulomb yield surface with an angle, so that the velocity line must be studied by non-associated flow rule. According to limit analysis theory, the theory of slip line field is put forward in this paper, and then the ultimate beating capacity of strip footing is obtained based on the associated flow rule and the non-associated flow nile individually. These two results are identical since the ultimate bearing capacity is independent of flow role. On the contrary, the velocity fields of associated and non-associated flow rules are different which shows the velocity field based on the associat- ed flow rule is incorrect.展开更多

The fluid speed varies from low to high with the corresponding vortex shedding frequency varying from below the first natural frequency to above the second natural frequency of the flexible pipe. Particular emphasis was placed on the investigation of the relationship between in-line and cross-flow vibration. Preconcentration and determination are based on (i) the quantitative and fast adsorption of chromium (VI) on the high surface area nanometer-size TiO2 (anatase) powders, which prepared by a sol-gel method from hydrolysis of TiCI4 and (ii) the quantitative and reproducible elution of Cr (VI) by 2. 0 mol. L-1 HCI. A mini-column system for preconcentration is developed, Cr(VI)on the mini-column is eluted and merged with a stream water and DPCB (1, 5-diphenylcarbazide ) as the chromogenic reagent. The Proposed system permits throughputs of 6 sample h--l (0. 001 μg mL-1 Cr(VI) ) or 20 sample h-1 (0. 1 μg mL-1Cr (VI) . The preconcentration factor is 55. This paper discusses numerical results from three-dimensional large eddy simulations of an oscillating cylinder under prescribed movements in uniform flow. Six cases, namely pure in-line, pure cross-flow and two group...This paper discusses numerical results from three-dimensional large eddy simulations of an oscillating cylinder under prescribed movements in uniform flow. Six cases, namely pure in-line, pure cross-flow and two groups of 'Figure of Eight' oscillation patterns are under investigation at Reynolds number Re = 24000. The ' Figure of Eight' pattern in each group is with identical shape but oppusite orbital directions. The numerical results on hydrodynamic forces, higher order force components, and vortex shedding modes are extensively studied and compared with the measured experimental data. It is found that the fluid force in phase with the velocity, which represents the energy transfer between the fluid and the cylinder, has opposite sign and different magnitude due to the opposite orbital direction. Higher order force components in cross-flow direction are found to occur at odd nmnber times of the oscillating frequency, while even nmbers dominate the higher order force components in in-llne direction. The 2C and 2T vortex shedding modes are well reproduced due to the opposite orbital direction effect. Comparisons between numerical and experimental results indicate that the present numerical model could be a rational tool for the identification of hydrodynamic coefficients which are normally applied in empirical models to predict the vortex-induced vibrations of slender marine structures.展开更多

The analytical system was combined with on-...Microfluidic analytical system was developed based on annular flow of phase separation multiphase flow with a ternary water-hydrophilic/hydrophobic organic solvent solution. The analytical system was combined with on-line luminol chemiluminescence detection for catechin analysis. The water (10 mM phosphate buffer, pH 7.3)-acetonitrile-ethyl acetate mixed solution (3:8:4, volume ratio) containing 60 μM luminol and 2 mM hydrogen peroxide as a carrier was fed into the capillary tube (open-tubular fused-silica, 75 μm inner diameter, 110 cm effective length) at a flow rate of 1.0 μL·min-1. The carrier solution showed stable chemiluminescence as a baseline on the flow chart. Eight catechins were detected as negative peaks for their antioxidant potential with different detection times. The system was applied to analyze the amounts of catechin in commercially available green tea beverages.展开更多

BrdU uptake assay and immunohistochemical stain of PCNA showed that the BrdU labeling rate and PCNA positive rate were lower than the controls, but no difference was found statistically as compared with all transretinoic acid. Flow cytometric assay demonstrated that S phase cells decreased and G0/G1 phase cells increased. Expression of c-myc oncogene protein decreased but the c-fos oncogene protein markedly increased.CONCLUSION Tanshinone could reverse the inducing differentiation in human hepatocarcinoma cells (SMMC-7721). It may become a new prospective inducer of cell differentiation to treat cancers.展开更多

The energy...Integrated disaster mitigation needs interpreting torrent catchment areas as complex landscape systems. The history of valley-evolution shows the influence of climate and vegetation on the valley-evolution. The energy-concept (energy dissipation concept including the idea of the energy-line) is used for a simple explanation of debris flow. Examples of heavy debris flow disasters in controlled torrents in the Alps and Pyrenees give hints, which expanding the time scale can show that side-effects restrict or counteract the mitigation measures. A pallet of different mitigation measures to avoid or to reduce some of the side-effects is shown. The comprehensive method of disaster mitigation also includes the effect of vegetation. The pallet includes: avoiding hazards (hazard mapping, warning and alarming), appropriate land use and avoiding disaster-enhancing measures in the landscape and technical measures, which take into account their side-effects. The energy line is used as simple design theory. The Jiu-Jitsu Principle is explained too. With this comprehensive method a more sustainable reduction of disasters seems possible.展开更多

The incompressible two-phase flows are simulated using combination of an etching multiblock method and a diffuse interface (DI) model, particularly in the com- plex domain that can be decomposed into multiple rectan...The incompressible two-phase flows are simulated using combination of an etching multiblock method and a diffuse interface (DI) model, particularly in the com- plex domain that can be decomposed into multiple rectangular subdomains. The etching multiblock method allows natural communications between the connected subdomains and the efficient parallel computation. The DI model can consider two-phase flows with a large density ratio, and simulate the flows with the moving contact line (MCL) when a geometric formulation of the MCL model is included. Therefore, combination of the etch- ing method and the DI model has potential to deal with a variety of two-phase flows in industrial applications. The performance is examined through a series of numerical exper- iments. The convergence of the etching method is firstly tested by simulating single-phase flows past a square cylinder, and the method for the multiphase flow simulation is vali- dated by investing drops dripping from a pore. The numerical results are compared with either those from other researchers or experimental data. Good agreement is achieved. The method is also used to investigate the impact of a droplet on a grooved substrate and droplet generation in flow focusing devices.展开更多
