The applicability of the correlations to pipeline-riser flow needs evaluation since the flow condition in pipeline-riser is quite different from the original data where they were derived from. In the present study, a comprehensive evaluation of 24prevailing correlation in predicting frictional pressure drop is carried out based on experimentally measured data of air-water and air-oil two-phase flows in pipeline-riser. Experiments are performed in a system having different configuration of pipeline-riser with the inclination of the downcomer varied from-2°to-5°to investigated the effect of the elbow on the frictional pressure drop in the riser. The inlet gas velocity ranges from 0.03 to 6.2 m/s, and liquid velocity varies from 0.02 to 1.3 m/s. A total of885 experimental data points including 782 on air-water flows and 103 on air-oil flows are obtained and used to access the prediction ability of the correlations. Comparison of the predicted results with the measured data indicate that a majority of the investigated correlations under-predict the pressure drop on severe slugging. The result of this study highlights the requirement of new method considering the effect of pipe layout on the frictional pressure drop.展开更多

The experimental distributor mainly consists of a straight through section,a gas extraction line,a liquid extraction line and a side arm branch. A gas orifice and a liquid orifice are mounted at the gas and liquid extraction line respectively to control the outlet gas quality. The diameter of the liquid orifice was set to 2. 50 mm and three gas orifices with different size( dG= 2. 65,5. 00,10. 00 mm) were tested. Flow patterns such as wave flow, slug flow and annular flow were observed. The gas quality of the side arm branch was found mainly determined by the flow area ratio of the gas orifice to the liquid orifice and independent of gas and liquid superficial velocity, flow patterns and extraction flux.展开更多

In the analysis, a one-dimensional model which assumes steady, adiabatic, frictionless, and equilibrium is proposed. In the convergent part of the nozzle the flow is treated as single-phase flow of liquid, whereas in the divergent part the flow is treated as separated two-phase flow with saturated condition. The analytical results indicate that the temperature and the pressure decrease rapidly in the divergent part, and the void fraction increases immediately near the throat. Although this analysis is quite simple, the analytical results can follow the experimental results well within this study.展开更多

The flow regime in a curved riser model and the response displacements of the riser were simultaneously recorded by high speed cameras. The gas superficial velocity ranges from 0.1 m/s to 0.6 m/s while the liquid superficial velocity from 0.06 m/s to 0.3 m/s.Severe slugging type 3, unstable oscillation flow and relatively stable slug flow were observed in the considered flow rates. Severe slugging type 3 characterized by premature gas penetration occurs at relatively low flow rates. Both the cycle time and slug length become shorter as the gas flow rate increases. The pressure at the riser base undergoes a longer period and larger amplitude of fluctuation as compared with the other two flow regimes. Additionally, severe slugging leads to the most vigorous in-plane vibration. However, the responses in the vertical and horizontal directions are not synchronized. The vertical vibration is dominated by the second mode while the horizontal vibration is dominated by the first mode. Similar to the vortex-induced vibration, three branches are identified as initial branch, build-up branch and descending branch for the response versus the mixture velocity of gas-liquid flow.展开更多

We focus on a simplified mixture model and provide an existence result within an appropriate class of weak solutions. We demonstrate that upper and lower limits can be obtained for the gas and liquid masses which ensure that transition to single-phase regions do not occur. This is used together with appropriate a prior estimates to obtain convergence to a weak solution for a sequence of approximate solutions corresponding to mollified initial data. Moreover, by imposing an additional regularity condition on the initial masses, a uniqueness result is obtained. The framework herein seems useful for further investigations of more realistic versions of the gas-liquid model that take into account different flow regimes.展开更多

The experiments at reducedgravity are conducted on board the Russian IL-76 reduced gravity airplane. Four flow patterns, namelybubble, slug, slug-annular transition and annular flows, are observed depending on the liquid and gassuperficial velocities at both conditions. Semi-theoretical Weber number model is developed to includethe shape influence on the slug-annular transition. It is shown that its prediction is in reasonable agree-ment with the experimental slug-annular transition under both conditions. For the case of two-phasegas-liquid flow with large value of the Froude number, the drift-flux model can predict well the observedboundary between bubble and slug flows.展开更多

In terms of the PIV principles, an algorithm of PIV based on the Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) was worked out. The PIV program was developed and verified, and then was used to measure three kinds of states in the testing device. The program was also used to calculate and analyze the related parameters. The experimental data indicate that the bubbles in testing device have the longest resident time and stronger turbulent intensity for the gas-liquid two-phase flow in a special case (Case 3), resulting in great increase of the oxygen transferring speed and efficiency, whereby providing the basis for the selection design of aeration tank.展开更多

The drift-flux model is solved with the one-dimensional continuity equation for gas-liquid two-phase flows as an initial-boundary value problem solved using the characteristic-curve method. The numerical results give the void fraction dis- tribution propagation in a gas-liquid two-phase flow which shows how the flow pattern transition occurs. The numerical simulations of different flow patterns show that the void fraction distribution propagation is deter- mined by the characteristics of the drift-flux between the liquid and gas flows and the void fraction range. Flow pattern transitions begin around a void fraction of 0.27 and end around 0.58. Flow pattern transitions do not occur for very high void concentrations.展开更多

文摘A new approach and a new related distribution system are proposed to address the issue of uneven steam injection caused by the different suction capacities of the used wells during the application of steam“stimulation”methods for enhanced oil recovery. The new distribution system consists of a swirler, spiral dividing baffles, and critical flow nozzles.Numerical simulations are used to analyze the flow-field and degree of steam homogeneity obtained with such an approach. The results indicate that a higher inlet pressure leads to better results.Additionally, the internal flow field becomes more stable, and the deviation from an even distribution reduces to±4.0%even when the resistance of each branch is inconsistent.Furthermore, field tests have yielded satisfactory results.

文摘The vibration response of a free-hanging flexible riser induced by internal gas-liquid slug flow was studied experimentally in a small-diameter tube model based on Froude number criterion. Similar to the vortex-induced vibration, three branches are identified as initial branch, build-up branch and descending branch for the response versus the mixture velocity of gas-liquid flow.
文摘We are interested in a viscous two-phase gas-liquid mixture model relevant for modeling of well control operations within the petroleum industry. The framework herein seems useful for further investigations of more realistic versions of the gas-liquid model that take into account different flow regimes.

文摘Experimental studies have been performed for horizontal two-phase air-water flows at nor-mal and reduced gravity conditions in a square cross-section channel. For the case of two-phasegas-liquid flow with large value of the Froude number, the drift-flux model can predict well the observedboundary between bubble and slug flows.

文摘Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) technique was employed to study experimentally gas-liquid two-phase flow in an aeration tank. In terms of the PIV principles, an algorithm of PIV based on the Fast Fourier Transformation (FFT) was worked out. The PIV program was developed and verified, and then was used to measure three kinds of states in the testing device. The program was also used to calculate and analyze the related parameters. The experimental data indicate that the bubbles in testing device have the longest resident time and stronger turbulent intensity for the gas-liquid two-phase flow in a special case (Case 3), resulting in great increase of the oxygen transferring speed and efficiency, whereby providing the basis for the selection design of aeration tank.

文摘Fine bubbles have been widely applied in many fields such as industry, medical engineering and agricultures. Therefore, many attentions have been paid to the study of fine bubble generations in order to increase the yield while decrease the cost. However, the generation process of fine bubbles is a quite complicated process in which multiple hydrodynamic forces are interacted in the gas-liquid two-phase flow. Many studies focus on the techniques of the converging-diverging nozzle(venturi tube)generator, which is famous for its simple and cheap features, and generates fine bubbles by using the miniaturization phenomenon of bubbles occurring in the venturi tube. However, the impact conditions on the amount and size of bubbles such as nozzle geometry and bleed air haven’t been investigated clearly. In this work,we implement many experiments on the venturi tube fine bubble generators with different geometries and generating conditions, and evaluate different factors impacting the production components such as the volume and the bubble size. The experimental results show that the supersonic flow filed in the venturi tube promotes the miniaturization of the bubbles, and the convergent angle of the nozzle and air bleed have a great impact on the size and volume of bubbles.

文摘The response of an adjustable critical-flow Venturi nozzle is investigated through a set indoor experiments aimed to determine the related critical flow rate, critical pressure ratio, and discharge coefficient. The effect of a variation in the cone displacement and liquid content on the critical flow characteristics is examined in detail and it is shown that the former can be used to effectively adjust the critical flow rate. The critical pressure ratio of the considered nozzle is above 0.85,and the critical flow control deviation of the gas flow is within±3%.Liquid flow can reduce the gas critical mass flow rate accordingly, especially for the cases with larger liquid volume and lower inlet pressure. The set of results and conclusions provided are intended to support the optimization of steam injection techniques in the context of heavy oil recovery processes.
文摘A dynamic propagation model was developed for waves in two-phase flows by assuming that continuity waves and dynamic waves interact nonlinearly for certain flow conditions. Flow pattern transitions do not occur for very high void concentrations.

文摘Study on gas–liquid flow in stirred tank with two combinations of dual-impeller(six-bent-bladed turbine(6BT)+six-inclined-blade down-pumping turbine(6 ITD),the six-bent-bladed turbine(6BT)+six-inclinedblade up-pumping turbine(6ITU))was conducted using computational fluid dynamics(CFD)and population balance model(PBM)(CFD-PBM)coupled model. The local bubble size was captured by particle image velocimetry(PIV)measurement. The gas holdup, bubble size distribution and gas–liquid interfacial area were explored at different conditions through numerical simulation. The results showed that the 4 mm bubbles accounted for the largest proportion of 33%at the gas flow rates Q=0.76 m^(3)·h^(-1) and 22%at Q=1.52 m^(3)·h^(-1) for combined impeller of 6BT+6ITU,while the bubbles of 4.7 mm and 5.5 mm were the largest proportion for 6BT+6ITD combination,i.e.25%at Q=0.76 m^(3)·h^(-1) and 22%at Q=1.52 m^(3)·h^(-1),respectively,which indicated that 6BT+6ITU could reduce bubble size effectively and promote gas dispersion. In addition, the gas holdup around impellers was increased obviously with the speed compared with gas flow rate.So it was concluded that 6ITU impeller could be more conductive to the bubble dispersion with more uniform bubble size, which embodied the advantages of 6BT+6ITU combination in gas–liquid mixing.
