A constrained generalized predictive control (GPC) algorithm based on the T-S fuzzy model is presented for the nonlinear system. First, a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model based on the fuzzy cluster algorithm and the orthogonalleast square method is constructed to approach the nonlinear system. Since its consequence is linear, it can divide the nonlinear system into a number of linear or nearly linear subsystems. For this T-S fuzzy model, a GPC algorithm with input constraints is presented. This strategy takes into account all the constraints of the control signal and its increment, and does not require the calculation of the Diophantine equations. So it needs only a small computer memory and the computational speed is high. The simulation results show a good performance for the nonlinear systems. 展开更多

Pressure ripples in electric power steering (EPS) systems can be caused by the phase lag between the driver s steering torque and steer angle, the nonlinear frictions, and the disturbances from road and sensor noise especially during high-frequency maneuvers. This paper investigates the use of the robust fuzzy control method for actively reducing pressure ripples for EPS systems. Remarkable progress on steering maneuverability is achieved. The EPS dynamics is described with an eight-order nonlinear state-space model and approximated by a Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model with time-varying delays and external disturbances. A stabilization approach is then presented for nonlinear time-delay systems through fuzzy state feedback controller in parallel distributed compensation (PDC) structure. The closed-loop stability conditions of EPS system with the fuzzy controller are parameterized in terms of the linear matrix inequality (LMI) problem. Simulations and experiments using the proposed robust fuzzy controller and traditional PID controller have been carried out for EPS systems. Both the simulation and experiment results show that the proposed fuzzy controller can reduce the torque ripples and allow us to have a good steering feeling and stable driving. 展开更多

In this paper the fault tolerant synchronization of two chaotic systems based on fuzzy model and sample data is investigated. The problem of fault tolerant synchronization is formulated to study the global asymptotical stability of the error system with the fuzzy sampled-data controller which contains a state feedback controller and a fault compensator. The synchronization can be achieved no matter whether the fault occurs or not. To investigate the stability of the error system and facilitate the design of the fuzzy sampled-data controller, a Takagi Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy model is employed to represent the chaotic system dynamics. To acquire good performance and produce a less conservative analysis result, a new parameter-dependent Lyapunov-Krasovksii functional and a relaxed stabilization technique are considered. The stability conditions based on linear matrix inequality are obtained to achieve the fault tolerant synchronization of the chaotic systems. Finally, a numerical simulation is shown to verify the results. 展开更多

First, a discrete-time 2-D T-S fuzzy model is proposed to represent the underlying nonlinear 2-D system. Second, new quadratic stabilization conditions are proposed by applying relaxed quadratic stabilization technique for 2-D case. Third, for sake of further reducing conservatism, new non-quadratic stabilization conditions are also proposed by applying a new parameter-dependent Lyapunov function, matrix transformation technique, and relaxed technique for the underlying discrete-time 2-D T-S fuzzy system. The problems of stability and stabilization for the discrete Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy time-delay system are investigated.By constructing a discrete piecewise Lyapunov-Krasovskii function(PLKF) in each maximal overlapped-rules group(MORG),a new sufficient stability condition for the open-loop discrete T-S fuzzy time-delay system is proposed and proved.Then the systematic design of the fuzzy controller is investigated via the parallel distributed compensation control scheme,and a new stabilization condition for the closed-loop discrete T-S fuzzy time-delay system is proposed.The above two sufficient conditions only require finding common matrices in each MORG.Compared with the common Lyapunov-Krasovskii function(CLKF) approach and the fuzzy Lyapunov-Krasovskii function(FLKF) approach,these proposed sufficient conditions can not only overcome the defect of finding common matrices in the whole feasible region but also largely reduce the number of linear matrix inequalities to be solved.Finally,simulation examples show that the proposed PLKF approach is effective. 展开更多

This paper proposes a static-output-feedback based robust fuzzy wheelbase preview control algorithm for uncertain active suspensions with time delay and finite frequency constraint.Firstly,a Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy augmented model is established to formulate the half-car active suspension system with consideration of time delay,sprung mass variation and wheelbase preview information.Secondly,in view of the resonation between human’s organs and vertical vibrations in the frequency range of 4–8 Hz,a finite frequency control criterion in terms of H∞norm is developed to improve ride comfort.Meanwhile,other mechanical constraints are also considered and satisfied via generalized H2 norm.Thirdly,in order to maintain the feasibility of the controller despite of some state variables are not online-measured,a two stage approach is adopted to derive a static output feedback controller.Finally,numerical simulation results illustrate the excellent performance of the proposed controller. 展开更多

The problem of global robust asymptotical stability for a class of Takagi-Sugeno fuzzy neural networks(TSFNN) with discontinuous activation functions and time delays is investigated by using Lyapunov stability theory.Based on linear matrix inequalities(LMIs),we originally propose robust fuzzy control to guarantee the global robust asymptotical stability of TSFNNs.Compared with the existing literature,this paper removes the assumptions on the neuron activations such as Lipschitz conditions,bounded,monotonic increasing property or the right-limit value is bigger than the left one at the discontinuous point.Thus,the results are more general and wider.Finally,two numerical examples are given to show the effectiveness of the proposed stability results. 展开更多

Firstly, by introducing free-weighting matrix method combined with a matrix decoupling approach and adopting an improved integral inequality method without ignoring any integral term, less conservative results are achieved. Next,based on the model, new delay-dependent sufficient conditions are derived, which are less conservative than the existing ones via solving the linear matrix inequalities(LMIs). Input variables selection(IVS) is proved to be pivotal in nonlinear dynamic system modeling. In order to optimize the model of the nonlinear dynamic system, a fuzzy modeling method for determining the premise structure by selecting important inputs of the system is studied. Firstly, a simplified two stage fuzzy curves method is proposed, which is employed to sort all possible inputs by their relevance with outputs, select the important input variables of the system and identify the structure.Secondly, in order to reduce the complexity of the model, the standard fuzzy c-means clustering algorithm and the recursive least squares algorithm are used to identify the premise parameters and conclusion parameters, respectively. Then, the effectiveness of IVS is verified by two well-known issues. Finally, the proposed identification method is applied to a realistic variable load pneumatic system. The simulation experiments indi cate that the IVS method in this paper has a positive influence on the approximation performance of the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy modeling. 展开更多

In this paper,a novel robust fault-tolerant control scheme based on event-triggered communication mechanism for a variable-speed wind energy conversion system(WECS)with sensor and actuator failures is proposed.The nonlinear WECS with event-triggered mechanism is modeled based on the Takagi-Sugeno(T-S)fuzzy model.By Lyapunov stability theory,the parameter expression of the proposed robust fault-tolerant controller with event-triggered mechanisms is proposed based on a feasible solution of linear matrix inequalities.Compared with the existing WECS fault-tolerant control methods,the proposed scheme significantly reduces the pressure of network packet transmission and improves the robustness and reliability of the WECS.Considering a doubly-fed variable speed constant frequency wind turbine,the eventtriggered mechanism based fault-tolerant control for WECS is analyzed considering system model uncertainty.Numerical simulation results demonstrate that the proposed scheme is feasible and effective. 展开更多

This article describes a method of vehicle dynamics estimation for impending rollover detection. We estimate vehicle dynamic states in presence of the road bank angle as a disturbance in the vehicle model using a robust observer. The estimated roll angle and roll rate are used to compute the rollover index which is based on the prediction of the lateral load transfer. In order to anticipate rollover detection, a new method is proposed to compute the time to rollover(TTR) using the load transfer ratio(LTR). The nonlinear model, deduced from the vehicle lateral and roll dynamics, is represented by a Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy model. This representation is used to account for the nonlinearities of lateral cornering forces. The proposed T-S observer is designed with unmeasurable premise variables to cater for non-availability of the slip angles measurement. The proposed approach is evaluated using Car Sim simulator under different driving scenarios. Simulation results show good efficiency of the proposed T-S observer and the rollover detection method. 展开更多

A robust H∞sampled-data stabilization problem for nonlinear dynamic positioning(DP) ships with Takagi-Sugeno(T-S) fuzzy models is discussed in this paper. Input delay approach is used to convert the sampleddata DP ship system to a fuzzy system with time-varying delay. Adequate conditions are derived to determine the system's asymptotical stability and achieve H∞performance via Lyapunov stability theorems. Then, the fuzzy sampled-data controller is obtained by analyzing the stabilization condition. Simulation result shows that the proposed method and the designed controller for a DP ship are effective so that the DP ship can maintain the desired position, heading and velocities in the existence of varying environment disturbances. 展开更多
