The assessment process of the GIS based map overlay method was presented, which includes deciding the system structure and weights of assessment factors, making environmental vulnerability grade maps, and evaluating the alternative alignments comprehensively to obtain the best one. With the GIS functions of spatial analysis, such as overlay analysis and buffer analysis, and functions of handling attribute data, the GIS based map overlay method overcomes the shortcomings of the existing map overlay method and the conclusion is more reasonable. In the end, a detailed case study was illustrated to verify the efficiency of the method.展开更多

However, this method seems to be unsuitable when the demand points increase to a certain large extent. The present work attempted to convert the problem of distribution area demarcation into a localized problem of warehouseing and networking, and tried to establish district-based planning mode based on location based heuristic (LBH). Two methods were used in this study: 1) the manual method to construct the mathematical model and conduct simulation; 2) the automatic method using TransCAD software of geographical information system (GIS) for simulation. By comparing the effects of the two methods, the research provides theoretical support for business proprietors to demarcate the distribution area rationally with the application of GIS system. The results show that GIS has very good graphics construction function to replace complex text, and the automatic demarcating mode with human-machine interaction provides a good business decision-making support.展开更多

Additionally, it is effective to adopt gamification to increase users’ motivation to continuously utilize the system in order to provide them with more information. In the present study, in order to support users’ enjoyment in creating efficient and pleasant sightseeing plans, the system that incorporates gamification to increase motivation was developed combining with web-geographic information systems (Web-GIS) and sightseeing planning and sharing system. The system was operated over a period of 2 weeks in Chofu City, Tokyo Metropolis, Japan. Based on the results of a questionnaire survey for 51 users, though the operability of the 3 main functions incorporated with motivation by gamification was rated lower than those of the 2 basic functions, their usefulness was highly rated. Based on the results of the access log analysis, it was effective to design the system so that the same functions can be used regardless of the type of information terminal. Additionally, it was evident that the continuous utilization of the system could increase the number of sightseeing plans created by the users.展开更多

The systems that enable storage of large amounts of spatial data and must be made available to multiple users in real time. Studies have shown that standalone desktop spatial systems are often rigid and inflexible to support multiple data processing or demands from multiple users. The integrated spatial management system was designed to address the above highlighted challenges by bringing enhanced possibilities of utilization of spatial data though improving accessibility, visualization, and processing spatial information. The present work employed a mixed approach of qualitative and quantitative techniques to obtain the desired result. Qualitative data collection tools were used to collect field data required to design the prototype. The research sought to establish whether the integrated systems are in use by the targeted institutions, the findings highlighted that 71.4% have no integrated spatial data systems while 28.6% have partial-integrated systems. An overview of the architecture of integrated spatial systems consists of a well distributed database linked to multiple tools and platforms to query both the spatial and non-spatial data. The WEB-GIS and Mobile GIS interfaces were developed to allow multiple users to access information through the web in real time and data collection, respectively.展开更多

Population distribution does not change a lot during the past decades, and the southeast China is still much more densely populated than the northwest China. The global spa- tial autoeorrelation of population distribution is obvious because Moran's I scores 0.42 and local spatial autocorrelation is partly significant. Climate and elevation are still the main natural influ- encing factors. Meanwhile industrial structure and transportation significantly influence population distribution. Different combinations of natural factors have different effects on population distribution. For a long term, climate and terrain factor stability affect population distribution. But its influence will be weakened by progress of technology. Economic development is the main factor that changes population distribution for a short term.展开更多

This integration provides a planning framework in order to check the efficiency of the spatial allocation of health services and to generate alternatives either by proposing an active service or to improve an existing one. To achieve these objectives, the accessibility to the service area was analyzed within the analysis of health services networks, which are divided into eight types: public hospitals, specialized hospitals, health units, healthcare centers, infirmaries, clinic complexes, the Red Crescent Center, and ambulance facilities, with time intervals of (5 minutes - 10 minutes - 15 minutes) to access coverage ranges, and the location-allocation model was used based on the maximum coverage model within a response time not exceeding 15 minutes, The results of the study revealed the poor distribution of health services Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah suffers from weak accessibility to health services coverage areas and is unable to meet the needs of its population at present. The current need for health services reached twenty-four locations, including two public hospitals, three specialized hospitals, two health centers, three ambulance facilities, four infirmaries, three clinic complexes, four health units, and three Red Crescent centers.展开更多

This study examines changes in land use, socioeconomic indices, and the transportation system of Gifu City during the late 20th century using geographical information system (GIS) methods. The data for the study were historical maps and the population census and economic statistics data from 1950 to 2000, when Japan was in a period of high economic growth. The discussion focuses on the master plan, road construction, land use, the spatial distribution of the population, and socioeconomic indices. It was possible to compare spatial distribution patterns over time using GIS. When policies were created that attached importance to construction of a road network due to the development of motorization and elimination of the city tram, the surrounding suburban area became the focus of land-use development. As a result, Gifu City is plagued by the doughnut phenomenon. It is important to identify the relationships among urban planning factors to provide for future urban and transportation planning.展开更多

文摘Traditional villages have high historical, cultural, scientific, artistic, social and economic value. They reflect the harmony and balance among long-term production, human life and natural environment. They are a community of tangible and intangible cultural heritages, and have received extensive attention from political circles, academic circles and the public.Through the Arc GIS10.3 geographic information system,724 traditional villages in Guizhou Province,China are visualized, and the nearest neighbor index, geographic concentration index, imbalance index, kernel density estimation and other methods are employed to analyze the spatial distribution type, distribution balance, spatial agglomeration characteristics and influencing factors.Studies have shown that the traditional villages in Guizhou Province tend to be concentrated and distributed, spatially forming high-density areas in southeastern Guizhou, second high-density areas in Anshun,moderate-density areas in Tongren, and low-density areas in Zunyi. From the city (prefecture) scale, traditional villages in Guizhou Province are relatively concentrated in Qiandongnan Prefecture,Tongren City,Anshun City and Qiannan Prefecture. From a regional perspective, the distribution of traditional villages in Guizhou Province is uneven, mainly distributed in Qiannan,Qiandong and Qianzhong.Their spatial distribution is affected by factors such as natural environment, traffic accessibility, ethnic culture, and economic development. It reveals the spatial distribution characteristics and influencing factors of traditional villages in Guizhou Province, and provides relevant realistic and theoretical foundations for the protection, inheritance and innovative development of traditional villages. In addition, the formation mechanism of traditional villages needs to be further analyzed based on information reflecting the attributes of traditional villages such as village history, village types, site selection patterns, characteristic buildings, production and life.It is also necessary to improve the traditional village database and grading evaluation system, and formulate protection and development plans,to realize the activation and utilization of traditional village resources, and promote their renewal and modernization.

文摘Modeling the oxygen-18 in precipitation based on regional topography and meteorological factors is helpful to constrain missing isotopic data in some regions that is required for many paleoclimate,eco-hydrological and atmospheric circulation studies. Therefore, the relationship betweenδ18Oin precipitation(δ18OPPT)and the affecting factors need to be thoroughly understood. We present a model considering the combined effects of temperature, altitude, and latitude on the spatial variability of annual average of stable isotopes in precipitation across China. This new model performed significantly better(P<0.05)than the widely used Farquhar and Bowen&Wilkinsonmodels. Our model allows modelling the spatial distribution of isotopes in precipitation depending on temperature variation. The residuals of presented model did not significantly correlate with altitude.Based on the model and residuals,a high-resolution map of annual averageδ18Opptacross China was generated.δ18OPPTdecreased from low toward high latitudes and from low towards high altitudes area. The model application provides important information forancient climate, hydrological cycle and water vapor sources studies.
文摘In this study, accessibility and location-allocation models have been integrated into GIS to improve spatial planning and environmental sustainability of health services in Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah. The current need for health services reached twenty-four locations, including two public hospitals, three specialized hospitals, two health centers, three ambulance facilities, four infirmaries, three clinic complexes, four health units, and three Red Crescent centers.
文摘History provides valuable lessons for the interplay of factors that shape urban growth and development. It is important to identify the relationships among urban planning factors to provide for future urban and transportation planning.
文摘This work focuses on examining the possible advantages for the urban sustainability, derived from the integration of transport, land use and energy systems. The main aim is to develop a GIS-based method that can help decision makers, either public or private, improve the economic, social and environmental sustainability of urban areas through an integrated transformation approach. As a result,it was possible to provide a spatial analysis technique based on seven synthetic variables and on the application of a cluster method able to identify the portions of urban areas where investments and urban integrated transformation processes can be more suitable, according to the dynamic relationships among transport, land use and energy systems. The methodology was applied to the Greater London area and led to significant results:the cluster classes follow the transport railway network evolution within the study area boundary. The paper is organized as follows:in Section 1 the integration of transport, land use and energy planning is investigated;following the introduction,in Section 2,the GIS-based method is presented, followed by a description of the application to the Greater London area;in Section 4,findings of the methodology are explained. In the last section, results and future developments are discussed.
