The situation of a great earthquake in Nepal from April to May in 2015 was described, and the abnormal atmospheric circulation and cli- mate when the great earthquake occurred were analyzed. Because of the great influence of the great earthquake on the atmosphere, the atmos- pheric circulation and climate in the late stage of Nepal will be affected. The great earthquake had transient effects on China's climate. Firstly, tem- perature from the ground to high altitudes increased abnormally; secondly, after the occurrence of the great earthquake, extremely low pressure generated in the earthquake region, and cold and warm airflow converged, so that heavy rainfall occurred to the southwest of the plateau. Thirdly, it cut off southwesterly airflow transporting water vapor to regions south of the Yangtze River, so that hot and dry weather appeared in the regions in late April. Moreover, the great earthquake affected China's climate in a short term. Nepal's giant earthquake increased zonal circulation cell at lat- itudes, and the circulation cell could make subtropical high over Western Pacific strengthen and extend westward to control regions south of the Yan- gtze River, so that hot and dry weather appeared in regions south of the Yangtze River in summer. In the next year after the great earthquake oc- curred, the earthquake is conducive to the strengthening and maintaining of Meiyu zone in the Yangtze River basin, and large floods will appear easily in the Yangtze River basin. 展开更多

In the paper, the feature of strong earthquake orderly distribution in time, space and intensity before the Western Kunlun Mountain Pass M=8.1 earthquake is preliminarily studied. The modulation and triggering factors such as the earth rotation, earth tides are analyzed. The results show that: the giant earthquakes with the magnitude more than 8 occurred about every 24 years and the earthquakes with the magnitude more than 7 about every 7 years in Chinese mainland. The Western Kunlun Mountain M=8.1 earthquake exactly occurred at the expected time; The spatial distance show approximately the same distances between each two swarms. The earth rotation, earth tide, sun tide and sun magnetic field have played a role of modulation and triggering in the intensity. At last, the condi-tions for earthquake generation and occurrence are also discussed. 展开更多
