The NAs in dewaxed VGO cut-4 were identified by negative-ion electrospray ionization Fourier transform ion cyclotron resonance mass spectrometry(ESI FT-ICR MS). The AC sample from a refinery was characterized by XRD, BET, TG/DTA, and SEM. A series of experiments were carried out to investigate the performance of NAs adsorption by AC using a batch adsorption technique, in which some key experimental parameters such as temperature, contact time, initial concentration of NA in oil sample as well as the dosage of adsorbent were investigated. Equilibrium isotherms were analyzed using the Langmuir, Freundlich, Tempkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich(D-R) adsorption models. The pseudo-first order, the pseudo-second order, and intraparticle diffusion models were employed to describe the kinetics data. The results revealed that the D-R isotherm provided a better fit to the experimental data than other isotherms, and the adsorption kinetics followed the pseudo-first order kinetic equation. The thermodynamic data indicated that the adsorption process was feasible and spontaneous as an endothermic process. The results could provide a clear understanding of the NAs adsorption by AC during lube base oil processing at refineries.展开更多

Several thousand tons of flue gas components (dust particles, SOx, CO and NOx) are released into the atmosphere by flaring billions of cubic meters of natural gas, refining and volatilizing the spilt oil. Heat wave is generated by flaring travels several meters away from flare points, destroying crops, farm lands, exotic species that are hunters delight while causing extinction of fragile soil flora and fuana. The occurrence of acid rain in the region implies that the natural receptors of the area are the final recipient of land and atmospheric pollutants. In effect, the water needs and public health of the populace are greatly impeded. Nitric and sulphuric acids are regarded as the sole contributors of nitrate and sulphate in precipitation influenced by combusted hydrocarbons: fine nitrate aerosols that dissolve in rain water are conversion products of NO2 that arise from flaring, power plants and motor vehicles. Scientific evidence has shown that rain water and surface water quality in the Niger Delta can accentuate the poor health burden, and may be perpetuated through generations unborn. Diagnostic health risk assessment has revealed that drinking nitrate contaminated water may be associated with spontaneous miscarriage, ectopic pregnancy, adult malignant lymphomas, soft tissues sarcomas, cancers and lesions with added health burden associated with heavy metals and other ions. All these pose public health emergency and may significantly entrench health risk for generations to come. Therefore, this manuscript is intended to close certain gaps that were not covered by toxicological information and available data on environmental and food contamination and human internal exposure: it will serve as a continuous reminder and a useful guide to public health policy makers, workers and community based physicians.展开更多

TFA levels when not available in food composition tables make it difficult to estimate dietary intake. With the aim to analyze and identify the actual amount of trans fatty acid present in selected Indian fast food items, triplicate samples of six commonly consumed snacks as well as the oil used for preparing the same were collected from three different places. The separation of fatty acid was done using gas chromatography. Trans fatty acid isomers of oleic acid, linoleic acid and linolenic acid were identified in all food items. The predominant trans fatty acid present in all the food items was elaidic acid (18:1t9). The total trans fatty acids in different food items ranged from almost negligible to as high as 14.58 g/100g food. Different amount of TFA was found in same food category sourced from different outlets which is a challenge in making regulations aimed at TFA reduction so as to decrease health risk.展开更多

Due to the pharmacological potential of such a metabolite, the biotransformation processes leading to its synthesis have been approached in recent studies. A robust analytical method is needed to assess the performance of such studies. An analytical method was developed and validated to determine perillic acid in the supernatants of a yeast-induced bioconversion of limonene, involving gas chromatography (GC) and an acid-induced precipitation during the sample preparation. GC analysis was performed using a column with polyethylene glycol as stationary phase (HP-Innowax) which resulted in higher loads and better peak shape. The sample preparation involved the supernatant initial filtration and precipitation with 0.6 M HCl followed by centrifugation and dissolution in ethyl acetate. GC analysis conditions were oven from 50°C to 250°C at 20°C·min-1, and then held 5 min (total runtime 15 min). Injector was set at 280°C, and detector at 300°C. Helium was the carrier gas at 1 ml·min-1. Injections of 1.0 μl were at the split ratio 25:1. The method was validated: Linearity with R2 of 0.9992, Accuracy of 98.3% in the range 190 - 950 μg·ml-1;Limit of detection of 10.4 μg·ml-1;Repeatability of 2.1% RSD. Thus, a complete methodology to determine perillic acid in a bioconversion supernatant was developed and validated. This overall approach may be useful for bioconversions of monoterpenes by other microorganisms that metabolize limonene.展开更多

The detection method for down samples was established by using GC-IMS. Meanwhile, the reason of unpleasant odors caused by WDD was explained on the basis of the characteristic volatile compounds identification. GC-IMS fingerprinting can be considered a revolutionary approach for a truly fully automatable, cost-efficient, and in particular highly sensitive method. A total of 22 compounds were successfully separated and identified through GC-IMS method, and the significant differences in volatile compounds were observed in three parts of WDD and WGD samples. The most characteristic volatile compounds of WGD belong to aldehydes, whereas carboxylic acids from WDD were detected generated by autoxidation reaction. Meanwhile, the main reason of unpleasant odor generation was possibly attributed to the high concentration of volatile carboxylic acids of WDD. Therefore, the constructed model presents a simple and efficient method of analysis and serves as a basis for down processing and quality control.展开更多

Thestudy employs strategic thermodynamic equilibriumcalculations to pioneer a novel factor in corrosion protection.A first-time proposal, the total acidity (TA) potential of the hydrogen (pH) concept significantly shapes medicalmagnesium alloys. These coatings are meticulously designed for robust corrosion resistance, blending theoreticalinsights and practical applications to enhance our grasp of corrosion prevention mechanisms and establisha systematic approach to coating design. The groundbreaking significance of this study lies in its innovativeintegration of the TA/pH concept, which encompasses the TA/pH ratio of the chemical environment. This approachsurpasses convention by acknowledging the intricate interplay between the acidity and pH levels within thecoating formulation, thereby optimizing metal-phosphate-based conversion coatings and transforming corrosionmitigation strategies. To authenticate the TA/pH concept, the study comprehensively compares its findings withexisting research, rigorously validating the theoretical framework and reinforcing the correlates among TA/pHvalues and observed corrosion resistance in the coatings. The influence of mutations that occur naturally inthe detergent solution on persistent phosphorus changes is shown by empirical confirmation, which improvescorrosion resistance. This realization advances the field ofmaterials and the field’s knowledge of coated generation, particularly anticorrosion converter layers.展开更多

Twenty-four hours later, Y-maze test results showed that isoflurane significantly impaired cognitive function in aged rats. Gas chromatography-mass spectrometry results showed that isoflurane also significantly increased the levels of N,N-diethy- lacetamide, n-ethylacetamide, aspartic acid, malic acid and arabinonic acid in the hippocampus of isoflurane-treated rats. Moreover, aspartic acid, N,N-diethylacetamide, n-ethylacetamide and malic acid concentration was positively correlated with the degree of cognitive dysfunction in the isoflurane-treated rats. It is evident that hippocampal metabolite changes are involved in the formation of cognitive dysfunction after isoflurane anesthesia. To further verify these results, this study cultured hippocampal neurons in vitro, which were then treated with aspartic acid (100 μmol/L). Results suggested that aspartic acid concentration in the hippocampus may be a biomarker for predicting the occurrence and disease progress of cognitive dysfunction.展开更多

The n-alkanes were in bimodal distribution that is characterized by a centre at n-C16 –n-C20 with maximum at C18(or C19) and n-C27 –n-C31 as well as at C29(or C31). The short-chain alkanes suffered from significant losses due to their slow deposition in the water column, and their presence with a slight even carbon predominance in shallow seafloor sediments was ascribed mainly to the direct input from the benthos. The long-chain alkanes with odd predominance indicate transportion of terrigenous organic matter. Immature hopanoid biomarkers reflect the intense microbial activity for bacteria–derived organic matter and the gradual increase of maturity with burial depth. Abundant n-fatty acid methyl esters(n-FAMEs) that are in distributions coincident with fatty acids were detected in all samples. We proposed that the observed FAMEs originated from the methyl esterification of fatty acids; methanol production by methanotrophs and methanogenic archaea related to the anaerobic oxidation of methane, and sulfate reduction provided an O–methyl donor for methylation of fatty acids. The CH4 released from hydrate dissociation at oxygen isotope stage II of Cores ZD3 and ZS5, which had been confirmed by the occurrence of negative δ13C excursion and spherical pyrite aggregates, could have accelerated the above process and thus maximized the relative content of FAMEs at ZD3-2(400–420 cm depth) and ZS5-2(241–291 cm depth).展开更多

The system adopted a cathode portion that employed magnetic stirring instead of common oxygen gas diffusion or gas sparging to supply oxygen gas for the electrolyte solution. Key factors influencing the cathode fabrication and activit) were investigated. The degradation of acid fuchsine with a self-made graphite-polytetrafluorethylene cathode was studied using spectrophotometer. It was found that the cathode generated hydrogen peroxide with high current efficiency and the hydrogen peroxide yield of the cathode did not decay after 10 times reuse. With the Pt anode at a ferrous ion concentration of 0.5 mmol/L, a pH of 3, and using magnetic stirring, dye decolorization could be rapidly accomplished but the destruction of benzene rings and intermediates was fairly difficult. With a Fe anode, dye degradation was more complete.展开更多

It was developed and validated a rapid Gas Chromatographic (GC) method to quantify seven VFA (acetic, propionic, isobutyric, butyric, isovaleric, valeric and caproic), acetone, methanol, ethanol and n-butanol by headspace (automatic and manual) and liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) with diethyl ether (only VFA). The determination was made in a Shimadzu Gas Chromatograph equipped with a Flame Ionization Detector (GC/FID), a headspace auto-sampler and an HP-INNOWAX column. Isobutanol and crotonic acid were utilized as internal standards (IS). The validation parameters evaluated were: precision (coefficient of variation—C.V.% for the retention times, from 0.02 to 0.87), linearity (R2 = 0.9291 - 0.9997), limits of detection (from 3.97 to 36.45 mg·L﹣1) and instrumental precision (from 0.01 to 0.53), which provide evidence that the methods are adequate to determine these analytes in samples from anaerobic reactors and from the environment.展开更多

The results could provide a clear understanding of the NAs adsorption by AC during lube base oil processing at refineries.

文摘Adipic acid is an important petrochemical product, and its production process emits a high concentration of greenhouse gas N_2 O.This paper aims to provide quantitative references for relevant authorities to formulate greenhouse gas control roadmaps. The forecasting method of this paper is consistent with the published national inventory in terms of caliber.Based on the N_2 O abatement technical parameters of adipic acid and the production trend, this paper combines the scenario analysis and provides a measurement of comprehensive N_2 O abatement effect of the entire industry in China.Four future scenarios are assumed. The baseline scenario(BAUS) is a frozen scenario.Three emission abatement scenarios(ANAS,SNAS,and ENAS) are assumed under different strength of abatement driving parameters. The results show that China's adipic acid production process can achieve increasingly significant N_2 O emission abatement effects.Compared to the baseline scenario,by 2030,the N_2 O emission abatements of the three emission abatement scenarios can reach 207-399 kt and the emission abatement ratios can reach 32.5%-62.6%.By 2050,the N_2 O emission abatements for the three emission abatement scenarios can reach 387-540 kt and the emission abatement ratios can reach 71.4%-99.6%.

文摘Geological storage of acid gas has been identified as a promising approach to reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide(CO_(2)),hydrogen sulfide(H_(2)S)and alleviate public concern resulting from the sour gas production.A good understanding of the relative permeability and capillary pressure characteristics is crucial to predict the process of acid gas injection and migration. The prediction of injection and redistribution of acid gas is important to determine storage capacity, formation pressure, plume extent, shape, and leakage potential.Herein, the existing experimental data and theoretical models were reviewed to gain a better understanding of the issue how the H_(2)S content affects gas density, gas viscosity, interfacial tension, wettability, relative permeability and capillary pressure characteristics of acid gas/brine/rock systems. The densities and viscosities of the acid gas with different H_(2)S mole fractions are both temperature-and pressure-dependent,which vary among the gas, liquid and supercritical phases.Water/acid gas interfacial tension decreases strongly with increasing H_(2)S content. For mica and clean quartz, water contact angle increases with increasing H_(2)S mole fraction. In particular, wettability reversal of mica to a H_(2)S-wet behavior occurs in the presence of dense H_(2)S.The capillary pressure increases with decreasing contact angle. At a given saturation, the relative permeability of a fluid is higher when the fluid is nonwetting. The capillary pressure decreases with decreasing interfacial tension at a given saturation. However, the existing datasets do not show a consistent link between capillary number and relative permeability. The capillary pressure decreases with increasing H_(2)S mole fraction. However, there is no consensus on the effect of the H_(2)S content on the relative permeability curves. This may be due to the limited availability of the relative permeability and capillary pressure data for acid gas/brine/rock systems;thus, more experimental measurements are required.
文摘Acidic aerosols resulting from gas flaring and refinery operations in the Niger Delta are a serious environmental and public health concern. Therefore, this manuscript is intended to close certain gaps that were not covered by toxicological information and available data on environmental and food contamination and human internal exposure: it will serve as a continuous reminder and a useful guide to public health policy makers, workers and community based physicians.
文摘Solid superacid perfluorooctanesulfonic acid(POSA)catalyzed Friedel-Crafts alkylation of aromatic hydrocarbons with olefins in gas-liquid phase. The alkylations gave good yields with simple operation and easy work up.The amount of the catalyst used in the reactions was small and could be reused. The optimum temperature of the reactions and the effect of the amount of the catalyst used in the reactions are also discussed.
文摘Trans fatty acids have adverse effects on health, so knowledge of their contents in foods would enable people to make informed food choices. Different amount of TFA was found in same food category sourced from different outlets which is a challenge in making regulations aimed at TFA reduction so as to decrease health risk.
文摘The cellular fatty acids from a total of 62 strains of Torulopsis glabrata (T. glabrata), Saccharomyces cerevisiae (S. cerevisiae), Rhodotorula rubra (R. rubra), Candida krusei (C. krusei), Candida albicans (C. albicans) and Candida tropicalis (C. tropicalis) were examined by capillary gas chromatography. On the basis of fatty acid composition, all strains could be differentiated as to species. These results indicate that capillary gas chromatographic analysis of cellular fatty acids is likely to be useful for rapid identification or grouping of newer isolates of yeast species.
文摘Perillic acid can be obtained from microbial oxidation of the exocyclic methyl group of limonene. This overall approach may be useful for bioconversions of monoterpenes by other microorganisms that metabolize limonene.

Peanut samples No. 9304,9355 and 9353 had higher oleic acid/linoleic acid( O/L) ratios,which were 4. 751,3. 623 and 3. 049,respectively,while peanut sample No. 9337 exhibited the lowest O/L value of 0. 899.
文摘This work first describes a simple approach for the untargeted profiling of volatile compounds for distinguishing between white duck down (WDD) and white goose down (WGD) based on resolution-optimized GC-IMS combined with optimized chemometric techniques, namely PCA. Therefore, the constructed model presents a simple and efficient method of analysis and serves as a basis for down processing and quality control.

文摘Electroactive anticorrosion coatings are specialized surface treatments that prevent or minimize corrosion. This realization advances the field ofmaterials and the field’s knowledge of coated generation, particularly anticorrosion converter layers.

文摘This study established an aged rat model of cognitive dysfunction using anesthesia with 2% iso- flurane and 80% oxygen for 2 hours. Results suggested that aspartic acid concentration in the hippocampus may be a biomarker for predicting the occurrence and disease progress of cognitive dysfunction.

文摘The distributions of lipids in surface and subsurface sediments from the northern South China Sea were determined. The CH4 released from hydrate dissociation at oxygen isotope stage II of Cores ZD3 and ZS5, which had been confirmed by the occurrence of negative δ13C excursion and spherical pyrite aggregates, could have accelerated the above process and thus maximized the relative content of FAMEs at ZD3-2(400–420 cm depth) and ZS5-2(241–291 cm depth).
文摘The current modified electro-Fenton system was designed to develop a more convenient and efficient undivided system for practical wastewater treatment. With a Fe anode, dye degradation was more complete.
文摘The concentration of the volatile fatty acids (VFA) is an important indicator of the status of an-aerobic processes, but most of the existing methods require sample pretreatment and are labor-intensive. The validation parameters evaluated were: precision (coefficient of variation—C.V.% for the retention times, from 0.02 to 0.87), linearity (R2 = 0.9291 - 0.9997), limits of detection (from 3.97 to 36.45 mg·L﹣1) and instrumental precision (from 0.01 to 0.53), which provide evidence that the methods are adequate to determine these analytes in samples from anaerobic reactors and from the environment.

文摘Metabolism of free fatty acids(FFAs) is related to several important physiological events and therefore their quantitaion in biological samples arouses extensive interest and efforts.Existing gas chromatography with flame ionization detector(GC-FID) methods for the analysis of FFAs normally require derivatization of them in order to lower boiling points. But this extra procedure tends to induce additional error and it is laborious and time-consuming.A derivatization-free method was therefore established in the present investigation to determine FFAs in human plasma by capillary(GC-FID).After extraction of FFAs from plasma,a highly polar FFAP(free fatty acid in plasma) column was employed to directly quantitate FFAs concentration, free from derivatization reaction. All sample pretreatments were carried out at room temperature, improving recovery of short-chain FFAs.Heptadecanoic acid(C17:0) was employed as internal standard, and the proposed method was validated for recovery,precision,sensitivity,stabi-lity,and linearity.Validation data show that it is suitable for clinical study that has been applied to the evaluation of FFAs levels in plasma of diabetic nephropathy(DN) patients during the course of treatment.Forty-seven patients diagnosed with DN were admitted to the double-blind experiment.Control group(n=17) underwent solely basic treatment and the patients did not show significant change in FFAs concentration during six months of treatment.Experiment group(n=30) was supplied with traditional Chinese medicine besides basic treatment. After six months of medication, their plasma concentration of palmitic acid(C16:0),stearic acid(C18:0) and oleic acid(C18:1n-9) decreased while linolenic acid(C18:3n-3) increased significantly(P〈0.05).These four compounds could be served as biomar-kers in the evaluation of drug efficacy, and their quantitation in plasma may provide additional information for disease progression in DN patients.
