The Suizhou meteorite is a heavily shocked and melted vein-containing L6 chondrite.It contains a minor amount of diopside with a(Ca_(0.419)Mg_(0.466)Fe_(0.088))SiO_(3)composition,and a shock-metamorphosed diopside gra... The Suizhou meteorite is a heavily shocked and melted vein-containing L6 chondrite.It contains a minor amount of diopside with a(Ca_(0.419)Mg_(0.466)Fe_(0.088))SiO_(3)composition,and a shock-metamorphosed diopside grain associated with ringwoodite and lingunite was found in a melt vein of this meteorite.Our electron microprobe,transmission electron microscopic and Raman spectroscopic analyses revealed four silicate phases with different compositions and structures inside this shock-metamorphosed diopside grain,termed phase A,B,C and D in this paper.Phase A is identified as orthorhombic(Ca_(0.663)-Mg_(0.314))SiO_(3)-perovskite which is closely associated with phase B,the vitrified(Mg_(0.642)Ca_(0.290)Fe_(0.098))SiO_(3)perovskite.Phase D is assigned to be(Mg_(0.578)Ca_(0.414))SiO_(3)majorite which is associated with phase C,the vetrified Carich Mg-perovskite with a(Mg_(0.853)Ca_(0.167))SiO_(3)composition.Based on high-pressure and high-temperature experiments,the diopside grain in the melt vein of the Suizhou meteorite would have experienced a P–T regime of 20–24GPa and 1800–>2000℃.Such P–T conditions are high enough for the decomposition of the diopside and the formation of four different silicate phases.The orthorhombic(Ca_(0.663)Mg_(0.314))SiO_(3)perovskite found in the Suizhou L6 chondrite might be considered as the third lower-mantle silicate mineral after bridgmanite and davemaoite after the detailed analyses of its crystal structure and physical properties being completed. 展开更多

Mg86.33Ni13.67-xYx(x=0, 1, 3, 6, 10) amorphous alloys were obtained by single-roller melt-spinning technique and the effect of Y addition on the glass forming ability(GFA), crystallization and micro-hardness of Mg-Ni alloys were studied. The results show that the GFA of Mg86.33Ni13.67-xYx(x=0, 1, 3, 6, 10) is improved successfully with the Y addition. The highest GFA appeares at x=6, while the reduced glass transition temperature (Trg) is 0.5225 and the supercooled liquid region(ΔTx) is 42.06 K; the position of the main diffraction halo is different for the alloys, and the maximum of the main diffraction halo of alloys with x=0, 1, 3 corresponds to the main peaks of a metastable fcc-Mg6Ni or fcc-Mg6Ni + Ni-Y intermetallic phases, and for the alloys with x=6, 10, it corresponds to Mg-Y and Ni-Y intermetallic phases; the micro-hardness of the alloys is improved with Y additions, and the highest micro-hardness is obtained at x=6 at.%, which is 960 MPa. 展开更多

Mg-based bulk metallic glass fabricated by conventional copper mould method was aged at different temperatures. X-ray diffractometry(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(SEM), atomic force microscopy(AFM) and focused ion beam(FIB) miller were employed to examine specimens obtained under different conditions. The crystallization of Mg-based bulk metallic glass depends upon both the aging temperature and the aging time. As temperature increases or the holding time increases, the microstructure of the aged specimen varies from glassy one to crystalline one plus glassy phase and then to absolutely multiphase crystalline one. From the FIB images, it is clear that Mg-based bulk metallic glass could not only crystallize completely but also display dendrite-like growth style. From the AFM images, there are not only significant variations of microstructures but also surface morphology of specimens obtained under different conditions. It is proposed that the surface morphology varies as the treating temperature increases. The Vickers hardness of different specimens increases as the fraction of crystalline phase (s) increases. 展开更多

The effect of substitutional element Zn on corrosion behavior of Mg65Cu25Gd10 glass was investigated. The amorphous structure of Mg65Cu25-xZnxGd10 (x=0,5) alloys were examined by X-ray diffractometry and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). The dissolution rates of Mg65Cu25-xZnxGd10 (x=0, 5) metallic glasses in a 5 wt% NaCl solution with pH value of 7 were determined by a hydrogen evolution testing method. The corrosion behavior of these alloys was characterized using dipping tests with 5 wt% NaCl, in combination with electrochemical measurements and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Results show that the anti-corrosion ability of Mg65Cu25Gd10 alloy is significantly improved due to the addition of Zn. Possible mechanism responsible for the improvement is discussed. 展开更多

After substituting partial Cu and Mg with Zn or Al elements for Mg65Cu25Y10 alloy,respectively,the metallic glass plate samples with thickness of 2-3 mm were prepared by water-quenching,their respective glass-forming ability and thermal stability were studied by using differential thermal analysis(DTA) and X-ray diffraction(XRD). Using Kissinger equation,the activation energies of crystallization of these metallic glasses heated with a constant rate were calculated. The results show that Al element is greatly harmful to the glass-forming ability of Mg-Cu-Y alloys and cannot acquire bulk amorphous alloys;nevertheless,the effect of Zn element addition is indeterminate for various components. Mg65Cu20Zn5Y9Zr1 bulk metallic glass matrix composite with a diameter of 2 mm was produced by copper mold casting. Upon cooling the Mg65Cu20Zn5Y9Zr1 melt, Mg2Cu acicular crystalline phase precipitates uniformly with a size of about 20 μm long and 1 μm thick while the remaining melt undergoes glass transition. Room temperature compression tests revealed that the high fracture strength up to 830 MPa and the plastic strain of 2.4% before failure are obtained for the Mg-based bulk metallic glass matrix composite. The formation of the Mg2Cu phase was proposed to contribute to high strength and plastic deformation of the material. 展开更多

The effect of partial substitution of Al for Cu on the glass forming ability(GFA) and mechanical properties of Mg65Cu25-xAlxGd10 (x=0, 1, 3 and 5, molar fraction, %) alloys were studied by X-ray diffractometry(XRD), differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) and uniaxial compression test. The result reveals that GFA of the alloys changes slightly with increasing x from 0 to 3, and then abruptly decreases with x increasing up to 5. The plasticity can be greatly improved with appropriate substitution of Cu by Al (3%, molar fraction) in Mg65Cu25Gd10 bulk metallic glass, and the resultant fracture strength, total strain to failure, and plastic strain are 898 MPa, 2.19% and 0.2%, respectively. 展开更多

To identify the re-arrangement of constituent atoms of an amorphous Mg65Cu25Gd10 alloy happened with annealing, structure relaxation of the alloy was investigated as a function of an- nealing time at 373 K through extended X-ray absorption fine structure (EXAFS) analysis procedures. To understand the effect of structure relaxation on strength, compression tests were conducted for both the as-cast and the annealed Mg65Cu25Gd10 samples. It is found that short range order around Cu and Gd atoms exhibits different variation trends with increasing annealing time at 373 K, though the structure of the alloy still remains to be amorphous. Based on the fact that the strength of the alloy first exhibits a reduction and then a recovery with annealing time, it is suggested that the enhancement of short range order around Cu should be responsible for the strength reduction, while the enhancement of short range order around Gd should be responsible for the strength recovery. 展开更多

Mg87-xCuxDy13(x=22,27,32) bulk metallic glasses (BGMs) with a diameter of 6-8 mm and in-situ Mg phase reinforced Mg70Cu17Dy13 BMG matrix composite with a diameter of 3 mm have been prepared by copper mould casting. The glass forming ability (GFA) of Mg-Cu-Dy alloys have been investigated by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and X-Ray diffraction (XRD) and tne mechanical properties have been measured. Results show that Mg87-xCuxDy13(x=22,27,32) alloys in the Mg-Cu-Dy alloy system exhibit excellent GFA, and Mg60Cu27Dy13 alloy has the largest GFA among these alloys. And In-situ Mg phase reinforced Mg70Cu17Dy13 BMG matrix composite exhibits some work hardening and a high fracture compressive strength of 702.38 MPa and some plastic strain of 0.81%. The improvement of the mechanical properties is attributed to the fact that the Mg phase distributed in the amorphous matrix of the alloy has some effective load bearing and plastic deformation ability to restrict the expanding of shear bands and cracks and produce its own plastic deformation. 展开更多

采用铜模铸造制备直径为3mm的Mg70-xZn25Ca5Cux(x=1,2,3.5,5)系列合金。分别采用扫描电镜(SEM)、X射线衍射仪(XRD)、力学性能试验装置研究合金的显微组织、相组成和铸态样品的压缩性能,并对断口形貌进行分析。结果表明:Mg69Zn25Ca5Cu1... 采用铜模铸造制备直径为3mm的Mg70-xZn25Ca5Cux(x=1,2,3.5,5)系列合金。分别采用扫描电镜(SEM)、X射线衍射仪(XRD)、力学性能试验装置研究合金的显微组织、相组成和铸态样品的压缩性能,并对断口形貌进行分析。结果表明:Mg69Zn25Ca5Cu1可以形成直径为3mm的非晶合金,其强度和塑性应变分别为690MPa和1.7%。与Mg-Zn-Ca合金相比,其非晶形成能力和塑性应变均有提高。同时这也是目前在直径大于2mm的Mg基非晶合金中所发现的最大塑性应变量。 展开更多
