To better regulate the speed of brushless DC motors,an improved algorithm based on the original Glowworm Swarm Optimization is proposed. The proposed algorithm solves the problems of poor robustness, slow convergence, and low accuracy exhibited by traditional PID controllers. When selecting the glowworm neighborhood set,an optimization scheme based on the growth and competition behavior of weeds is applied to a single glowworm to prevent falling into a local optimal solution. After the glowworm’s position is updated, the league selection operator is introduced to search for the global optimal solution.Combining the local search ability of the invasive weed optimization with the global search ability of the league selection operator enhances the robustness of the algorithm and also accelerates the convergence speed of the algorithm. The mathematical model of the brushless DC motor is established, the PID parameters are tuned and optimized using improved Glowworm Swarm Optimization algorithm, and the speed of the brushless DC motor is adjusted. In a Simulink environment,a double closed-loop speed control model was established to simulate the speed control of a brushless DC motor, and this simulation was compared with a traditional PID control. The simulation results show that the model based on the improved Glowworm Swarm Optimization algorithm has good robustness and a steady-state response speed for motor speed control. 展开更多

This paper proposes a new algorithm—binary glowworm swarm optimization(BGSO)to solve the unit commitment(UC)problem. After a certain quantity of initial feasible solutions is obtained by using the priority list and the decommitment of redundant unit,BGSO is applied to optimize the on/off state of the unit, and the Lambda-iteration method is adopted to solve the economic dispatch problem. In the iterative process, the solutions that do not satisfy all the constraints are adjusted by the correction method.Furthermore, different adjustment techniques such as conversion from cold start to hot start, decommitment of redundant unit, are adopted to avoid falling into local optimal solution and to keep the diversity of the feasible solutions. The proposed BGSO is tested on the power system in the range of 10–140 generating units for a 24-h scheduling period and compared to quantuminspired evolutionary algorithm(QEA),improved binary particle swarm optimization(IBPSO)and mixed integer programming(MIP).Simulated results distinctly show that BGSO is very competent in solving the UC problem in comparison to the previously reported algorithms. 展开更多

Recent developments in computer vision applications have enabled detection of significant visual objects in video streams.Studies quoted in literature have detected objects from video streams using Spatiotemporal Particle Swarm Optimization(SPSOM)and Incremental Deep Convolution Neural Networks(IDCNN)for detecting multiple objects. However, the study considered opticalflows resulting in assessing motion contrasts.Existing methods have issue with accuracy and error rates in motion contrast detection.Hence, the overall object detection performance is reduced significantly. Thus, consideration of object motions in videos efficiently is a critical issue to be solved. To overcome the above mentioned problems, this research work proposes a method involving ensemble approaches to and detect objects efficiently from video streams. This work uses a system modeled on swarm optimization and ensemble learning called Spatiotemporal Glowworm Swarm Optimization Model(SGSOM)for detecting multiple significant objects.A steady quality in motion contrasts is maintained in this work by using Chebyshev distance matrix. The proposed system achieves global optimization in its multiple object detection by exploiting spatial/temporal cues and local constraints. Its experimental results show that the proposed system scores 4.8%in Mean Absolute Error(MAE)while achieving 86%in accuracy,81.5%in precision,85%in recall and 81.6%in F-measure and thus proving its utility in detecting multiple objects. 展开更多

Recent developments in information technology can be attributed to the development of smart cities which act as a key enabler for next-generation intelligent systems to improve security, reliability, and efficiency. The healthcare sector becomes advantageous and offers different ways to manage patient information in order to improve healthcare service quality. The futuristic sustainable computing solutions in e-healthcare applications depend upon Internet of Things(IoT)in cloud computing environment. The energy consumed during data communication from IoT devices to cloud server is significantly high and it needs to be reduced with the help of clustering techniques. The current research article presents a new Oppositional Glowworm Swarm Optimization(OGSO)algorithmbased clustering with Deep Neural Network(DNN)called OGSO-DNN model for distributed healthcare systems. The OGSO algorithm was applied in this study to select the Cluster Heads(CHs)from the available IoT devices. The selected CHs transmit the data to cloud server, which then executes DNN-based classification process for healthcare diagnosis. An extensive simulation analysis was carried out utilizing a student perspective healthcare data generated from UCI repository and IoT devices to forecast the severity level of the disease among students. The proposed OGSO-DNN model outperformed previous methods by attaining the maximum average sensitivity of 96.956%,specificity of 95.076%,the accuracy of 95.764%and F-score value of 96.888%. 展开更多

The Wireless Sensor Networks(WSN)is a self-organizing network with random deployment of wireless nodes that connects each other for effective monitoring and data transmission. The clustering technique employed to group the collection of nodes for data transmission and each node is assigned with a cluster head. The major concern with the identification of the cluster head is the consideration of energy consumption and hence this paper proposes an hybrid model which forms an energy efficient cluster head in the Wireless Sensor Network. The proposed model is a hybridization of Glowworm Swarm Optimization(GSO)and Artificial Bee Colony(ABC)algorithm for the better identification of cluster head. The performance of the proposed model is compared with the existing techniques and an energy analysis is performed and is proved to be more efficient than the existing model with normalized energy of 5.35%better value and reduction of time complexity upto 1.46%.Above all,the proposed model is 16%ahead of alive node count when compared with the existing methodologies. 展开更多
