Case Presentation: A 57-year female cirrhotic patient presented with melena. She had been diagnosed with duodenal variceal bleeding and treated successfully with 2.4 ml histoacryl using a normal gastroscope. The patient subsequently remained stable and free of any further GI bleeding. She was discharged 48 hours later. Her hemoglobin remained stable at 9 g/L. Conclusion: The histoacryl glue injection provides an effective treatment. Hence, this should ideally be performed by an experienced endoscopist who is aware of and vigilant for the serious complications of this treatment option.展开更多

However, there is still a low incidence of complications and some are even fatal. Here, we present a case in which endoscopic variceal ligation caused laceration of the esophageal varicose vein with tissue glue emboli and massive bleeding after 3 mo. Cessation of bleeding was achieved via variceal sclerotherapy using a cap-fitted gastroscope. Methods of recognizing an esophageal varicose vein with tissue glue plug are discussed.展开更多

We decided to perform the examination of the small bowel using single-balloon enteroscopy. The lower enteroscopy revealed signs of bleeding from varices of the ileum. In this report,we showed that the injection of a sclerosant solution can be accomplished using a freehand technique via the single balloon enteroscopy.展开更多
