Approaches to apply graph computing to power grid analysis are systematically explained using real-world application examples.Through exploring the nature of the power grid and the characteristics of power grid analysis, the guidelines for selecting appropriate graph computing techniques for the application to power grid analysis are outlined.A custom graph model for representing the power grid for the analysis and simulation purpose and an in-memory computing(IMC)based graph-centric approach with a shared-everything architecture are introduced.Graph algorithms, including network topology processing and subgraph processing, and graph computing application scenarios, including in-memory computing, contingency analysis, and Common Information Model(CIM)model merge, are presented. 展开更多

During this decade, many countries have experienced natural and accidental disasters, such as typhoons, floods, earthquakes, and nuclear plant accidents, causing catastrophic damage to infrastructures.Since the end of 2019,all countries of the world are struggling with the COVID-19 and pursuing countermeasures, including inoculation of vaccine, and changes in our lifestyle and social structures. All these experiences have made the residents in the affected regions keenly aware of the need for new infrastructures that are resilient and autonomous,so that vital lifelines are secured during calamities.A paradigm shift has been taking place toward reorganizing the energy social service management in many countries, including Japan,by effective use of sustainable energy and new supply schemes. However, such new power sources and supply schemes would affect the power grid through intermittency of power output and the deterioration of power quality and service. Therefore, new social infrastructures and novel management systems to supply energy and social service will be required. In this paper,user-friendly design, operation and control assist tools for resilient microgrids and autonomous communities are proposed and applied to the standard microgrid to verify its effectiveness and performance. 展开更多

The major hindrances in the energy system are ecological consciousness, lack of clean and sustainableenergy management, insufficient energy distribution–transmission–optimization, expensive power transfercosts, and increased customer knowledge of energy charges. Thus why, universal access to the grid with highcybersecurity, and reliability is needed to solve all these challenges. The digital twin concept turns a newdimension of technology into the world. Electric Digital Twin grid can perform online analysis of the grid inreal-time and integrates all the past and present data and express the current grid status to the producers andconsumers and also predicts the future grid status. Thus, the power grid transmission loss and location of theoverheated line and power connection missing can be detected in addition decision-making and self-healingcan possible. The future prediction saves the power grid from small to long accidents such as power outagesand even blackout problems. The whole consumers and nation feel relief from these types of accidents andsaves from large economic and business loss. The blockchain-enabled digital twin grid provides high securityfor the grid from cyberattacks. The paper conveys the framework of the electric digital twin grid and theconcept of the DT grid processing and the way of serving the producer, prosumers, consumers even the wholenation in infrastructure, education, research, economic, business, and political development. 展开更多

Digital twin(DT)framework is introduced in the context of application for power grid online analysis. In the development process of a new power grid real-time online analysis system,an online analysis digital twin(OADT)has been implemented to realize the new online analysis architecture. The OADT approach is presented and its prominent features are discussed. The presentation, discussion, and performance testing are based on a large-scale grid network model(40K+buses),exported directly from the EMS system of an actual power grid.A plan to apply the OADT approach to digitize power grid dispatching rules is also outlined. 展开更多

The unprecedented operational complexity and se-curity risks in operating the Chinese UHV AC/DC power grid calls for a new generation of real-time(sec-order)online analysis systems to provide decision support. Our recent Digital Twin based online analysis research and development work to address the needs is presented. In addition,a high-level solution architec-ture for the future real-time online analysis systems is proposed for realizing:a)The delay of the virtual model to mirror the physical power grid is in sub-sec range;b)The downstream online analysis applications could have sec-order responsiveness. 展开更多

The purpose of this study is to produce an analysis of the urban expansion in the case of a mountain resort in the Romanian Carpathians through the integration of different cartographic and ancillary material in the remote sensing imagery processing. The spatial pattern analysis of the changes underwent by the urban landscape was based on multi-temporal information sources, covering 28 years, which highlighted the major turning points in landscape evolution, meaning industrial development under the communist production planning and residential expansion in recent years. To fully exploit the combination of satellite image processing in IDRISI,the manual image classification and database interrogation in ArcGis,we used a uniform grid, representing a set of vector data for each year available from the Landsat image archive. The image comparison was completed by using appropriate quantitative techniques. In conclusion the urban landscape evolution was linked to the socio-economic context. At a historic scale the main phenomenon identified is the concentration of mass tourism facilities, located in contiguity to a protected area,a situation reflected in the constant fragmentation of surfaces covered with vegetation at the urban fringe. In the digital earth science, the interplay between mountain ecosystems and human activities encompasses a key role in the management of viable mountain landscapes. 展开更多
