Recently, the application of Bayesian updating to predict excavation-induced deformation has proven successful and improved prediction accuracy significantly. However, updating the ground settlement profile, which is crucial for determining potential damage to nearby infrastructures, has received limited attention. To address this, this paper proposes a physics-guided simplified model combined with a Bayesian updating framework to accurately predict the ground settlement profile. The advantage of this model is that it eliminates the need for complex finite element modeling and makes the updating framework user-friendly.Furthermore,the model is physically interpretable, which can provide valuable references for construction adjustments. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated through two field case studies, showing that it can yield satisfactory predictions for the settlement profile. 展开更多

The use of electrical energy for heating and cooling systems to control the temperature in greenhouses will lead to high production and product costs. To solve this problem, shallow geothermal energy as a local source of energy could be applied. In this study,a measurement model, the distribution profiles of temperature, and a preliminary assessment of the geothermal potential in the shallow zone at depths of 0.1 m to 3.6 m in Shouguang City,Shandong Province, eastern China were presented. The measurement results showed that the annual average temperature at depths of 0.1–3.6 m ranged from 13.1℃ to 17.6℃.Preliminary assessment results of the geothermal potential showed that the daily average temperature difference between the air and at depths of 1.5–3.6 m was mainly from 10℃ to 25℃ during the winter months and between-15℃ and-5℃ during the summer months. Therefore, the heating systems could operate during January,February,November, and December. In May,June, and July, the cooling systems could be applied. Moreover, the measurement model gave good stability results, and it could be used in combination with the monitoring of the groundwater table,a survey of the thermal conductivity of the soil, climate change studies, which helps reduce unnecessary time and costs. 展开更多

The estimation of the ground temperature profile with respect to the depth and time is the key issue in many engineering applications which use the ground as a source of thermal energy. In the present work, the influence of the model components on the calculated ground temperature distribution has been analysed in order to develop an accurate and robust model for the prediction of the ground temperature profile. The presented mathematical model takes into account all the key phenomena occurring in the soil and on its top surface. The impact of individual model elements on the temperature of the soil has been analysed. It has been found that the simplest models and the most complex model result in a similar temperature variation over the simulation period, but only at a low depth. A detailed analysis shows that a larger depth requires more complex models and the calculation with the use of simple models results in an incorrect temperature and a theoretical COP estimation. 展开更多
