Purpose: This study was to investigate the association between ulnar variance(UV) and biological and training characteristics, handgrip, and wrist pain in a group of 23 Portuguese skeletally immature male gymnasts(aged 11.2 2.5 years). Methods: Left and right UV was obtained using Hafner's procedure and skeletal age was determined by the TannereWhitehouse 3-method. A negative mean value for UV measures was observed( 2.4 to 3.6 mm) without significant differences with increasing age-category( p=0.09 to p=0.48). Significant low correlations were observed between some UV parameters and stature, fat percentage, years of training, and left handgrip strength. Results: Ten gymnasts reported wrist pain with gradual onset and UV values were very similar between painless and painful wrists. Conclusion: The findings of this study do not directly support the thesis that gymnastics training and biological variables or wrist pain are associated with UV. 展开更多

Purpose:The aim of this study was to examine systemic responses of oxidant/antioxidant status following 2 training sessions of different intensity in amateur rhythmic gymnasts. Methods:Before the experimental training,10 female gymnasts performed a gradually increased exercise test to assess maximal heart rate, maximal oxygen consumption, and anaerobic threshold. They executed 2 intermittent training sessions separated by 48 h of recovery(48 h-post R):the first was performed at low-moderate intensity(LMI)and the second at high intensity(HI).Blood samples were collected immediately preand post-training and 48 h-post R.Hydroperoxide level(OxL)and total antioxidant capacity(TAC)were photometrically measured. Results:OxL was significantly higher in post-training and 48 h-post R following HI than the same conditions after an LMI session(HI vs.LMI post-training:381.10±46.17(mean±SD)vs.344.18±27.94 Units Carratelli(U.CARR);48 h-post R:412.21±26.61 vs.373.80±36.08 U.CARR).There was no change in TAC between the 2 training sessions investigated. In LMI training,OxL significantly decreased in post-training and increased to reach the baseline at 48 h-post R,whereas TAC increased only at 48 h-post R.In HI training,OxL significantly increased to reach a high oxidative stress 48 h-post R,whereas TAC was lower in post-training than pre-training.Conclusion:The pattern of OxL and TAC levels implies different regulation mechanisms by HI and LMI training sessions.High oxidative stress induced by an HI protocol might be associated with both insufficient TAC and recovery time at 48 h necessary to restore redox balance. 展开更多

Gymnastics is a discipline that has some factors that differentiate from other sports, such as: force, postural control on movement, extreme range of motion, and of the body expression. The objec- tive of the present paper was to compare: somatotype, body composition and energy availability in female gymnasts students in search for a better sport performance. We evaluated 24 healthy female children aged 7 - 12 years by means of a nutritional and anthropometric examinations, somatotype and body composition calculation, and energy availability measurement. We observed a low consumption of real calories intake, carbohydrates, and low amount of the real body weight mesurements among gymnatics students. Mesomorphic and ectomorfic somatotypes were the more frequent somatotypes found. Moreover, we saw significant differences in body composition and in energy availability among the differente somatotypes in student of gymnastics. Differences were located between endomorphic, mesomorphic, and ectomorphic somatotype groups in body composition while in energy availability were among mesomorphic-ectomorphic, and between endomorphic-ectomorphic groups. In conclusion, our data had important implications for per- formance of gymnastics in students and were discussed here. 展开更多

The article presents the data of the assessment of the physical development and functional state of highly qualifiedgymnasts engaged in rhythmic gymnastics. It was found that high-skilled gymnasts have heterogeneity ofsomatotypes determined according to the B. Heath-J. Carter scheme and heterogeneity of types of autonomousnervous regulation of heart rate variability, systolic, diastolic blood pressure and respiration, determined on thespiroarteriorhythmocardiograph device. Highly qualified gymnasts have vago- and normotonic types of regulationof heart rate variability;normal-sympathetic-and hypersympathicotonic types of regulation of the variability ofsystolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure, vagotonic type of regulation of the variability of the respiratoryrhythm. Statistically significant differences gymnasts, successful in the medal standings at the internationalcompetitions and gymnasts participating, but not in high prizes in competitions, consist in the ability to resistfatigue while performing strenuous mental work (differences were revealed in 10-letter “Mental performance” at aconstant speed (p > 0.0001), and 3-letter test (p > 0.001)), data stabilometric test “Target” indicator “Time stabilityon the left foot” (R > 0.039) with the advantage of a high performing gymnasts artists. Fleshed out the possibility ofusing the parameters of the morphofunctional state of gymnasts in training for the qualitative evaluation of thephysical development of gymnasts, evaluation set their sports uniforms indicated the possibility of developing thereference parameters of the morphofunctional status of gymnasts and recommendations on the frequency of thesurvey of morphological and functional status of gymnasts involved in rhythmic gymnastics. 展开更多

Purpose This cross-sectional study investigated dynamic force-time variables and vaulting performance in young female gymnasts of different maturity status. Methods 120 gymnasts aged 5-14 years were sub-divided into maturity groupings using percent of predicted adult height(%PAH)attained.Participants performed three jumping protocols, the squat jump(SJ),countermovement jump(CMJ)and drop jump(DJ),before completing straight jump vaults that were recorded using two-dimensional video. Results Jumping performance improved with biological maturity evidenced by the most mature gymnasts’producing sig-nificantly more absolute force(P<0.05;all d>0.78),impulse(P<0.05;all d>0.75)and power(P<0.05;all d>0.91)than the least mature group, resulting in the greater jump heights(P<0.05;all d>0.70).While,no significant differences were observed in relative peak force across multiple tests, measures of relative peak power did significantly increase with maturity.Based upon regression analyses, maturation was found to influence vertical take-off velocity during vaulting, explaining 41%of the variance in each jumping protocol.Across all tests, the DJ was found to have the highest predictive ability of vaulting vertical take-off velocity, explaining 55%of the total variance. Conclusion Biological maturation impacts jump height and underpinning mechanical variables in young female gymnasts.Vaulting vertical take-off velocity appears to be influenced by maturation and various dynamic force-time variables,par-ticularly those during DJ,which had the highest explained total variance. 展开更多

The Robogymnast is a highly complex,three-link system based on the triple-inverted pendulum and is modelled on the human example of a gymnast suspended by their hands from the high bar and executing larger and larger upswings to eventually rotate fully. The links of the Robogymnast correspond respectively to the arms, trunk, and lower limbs of the gymnast, and from its three joints, one is under passive operation, while the remaining two are powered. The passive top joint poses severe challenges in attaining the smooth movement control needed to operate the Robogymnast effectively. This study assesses four types of controllers used for systems operation and identifies how far response stabilisation is achieved with each. The system is simulated using MATLAB Simulink, with findings generated regarding rising and settling time,as well as overshoot. The research primarily seeks to exam-ine the application of a linear quadratic regulator controller,proportional-integral-derivative controller, fuzzy linear quadratic regulator controller and linear quadratic regulator-proportional-integral-derivative controller for this type of system and comparisons between the different controllers to demon-strate successful performance, which highlights the claimed advantages of the proposed system. 展开更多

Broadcast gymnastics, which was initiated in 1951,is one of the most widely adopted and popular mass sports activities in China, embodying the country's commitment to shaping the right to health of its citizens. The history and development of broadcast gymnastics are closely tied to the destiny of the nation, reflecting clear national will, and aiming to achieve the goal of“shaping new individuals”.The institutional forms of broadcast gymnastics can be categorized into three stages:“military simulation”,“administrative reinforcement”and“market competition”,each of which aligns with the objectives and needs of different periods.Taking the establishment and promotion of broadcast gymnastics in China as a focal point helps construct a doctrinal framework for the right to health.Based on the purposes and means of health shaping, the implementation of the right to health can be divided into four types:national health projects, citizens'health rights, the social health industry, and civic health consumption.National health projects, facilitated by legislative mechanisms, provide institutional support and supply for citizens'health rights. The right to health,as a social right, has both a subjective rights orientation and an objective value order orientation, thus establishing the individual's subject status in terms of their right to health. Its defense aspect is oriented toward rejecting excessive state intervention, while the benefit aspect directly links to the state's payment measures. The boundaries of state power also need to be defined in the social health industry and civic health consumption.Hence, developing broadcast gymnastics involves adjusting its relationship with the overall objectives of the state and individual citizens'needs. It involves balancing the use of administrative and market methods, continually innovating sports programs that better suit diverse needs, and actively participating in the competition of the fitness market. 展开更多

In Japan, the shortage of personnel is a problem in long-term care nursing and rehabilitative care prevention. Nevertheless, Japan has taken measures to compensate for these shortages by promoting medical and nursing care activities using robotic technologies, and employing human resources from overseas. The purpose of this study was to determine potential legal issues and subsequent implications for care during prevention gymnastic exercises for the elderly using Pepper in long-term health facilities. The application program of Care-Prevention Gymnastics Exercises for Pepper (Pepper with CPGE) was made by the Xing Company Japan. Currently, care workers become intermediaries for the safe use of Pepper with CPGE. However, it was realized that some legal issues may arise if Pepper with CPGE alone will carry out these preventive care programs for the elderly without the presence of care workers as intermediaries. In this situation, using Pepper with CPGE alone to conduct care prevention gymnastics will require safety measures to prevent these possible practice issues and anticipate implications for care. In this regard, determining detailed target levels of rehabilitation exercise demands and environmental setting safety become essential factors. The use of humanoid robots in healthcare is expected to influence more practice protocols in contemporary and futurist rehabilitative human care. The identification of possible safety issues in performance and environmental situations, and implications for care are critical to ensure safe and valuable rehabilitative health care practices for the elderly population. 展开更多

Cognitive function of older adults is influenced by several factors such as age, sex, education, and physical activity so that it can impact the decrease in progressive cognitive function. It is necessary to implement cognitive training in old people’s care to prevent or delay the onset of age-related cognitive decline.Brain gym is a series of simple motion exercises and is an alternative therapy that stimulates the brain. This study aims to evaluate the effect of brain gym as a cognitive training intervention on global cognitive functioning of institutionalized older population. The study is a non-randomized quasi-experimental one using pre-and post-test control group design. The participants of the study were 65 years old or older who had been part of gerontological centers from a local community. They were divided into two groups:control and intervention, each one with 15 people.Mini-Mental State Examination was applied to the sample before and after the cognitive training. The brain gym training consists of bi-weekly group meeting for 12 weeks, lasting 50 min each. The treated group had a significantly better global cognitive function.Recalling(memory),orientation and language skills were the domains with the most significant changes(p<0.05).On the other hand,no significant changes were found in the participants of control groups during post test. Our results suggest that cognitive training based in brain gym improves global cognitive function of institutionalized older people lease type your abstract here.Abstract of a research paper is typically 200 to 400 words in length, and 150 to 300 words for a review paper.Abstract shall be running continuously(not structured)and shall not include reference citations.Abbreviations that appear only once in the abstract should be defined in full.If abbreviations appear more than once, the full definitions should be provided first before they can be used elsewhere. 展开更多

The aim of the present study was to compare the levels of maximum strength, endurance muscular and quality of life among practitioners of group gymnastics (IG) of isolated form and practitioners of group gymnastics combinated with strength training (CG). This study is characterized as observational of comparative cross-sectional design. The sample was composted by young women, trained at least for three months, without health complications. Maximum strength (1RM) and endurance muscular (repetition at 60% 1RM) of the lower limbs were evaluated in knee extension exercise, unilaterally. Overall quality of life and in four domains was evaluated by the WHOQOL-bref. Data were described by mean and standard deviation values. Outcomes were compared by independent t-test, adopting a significance level (α) of 0.05. Thirty women were evaluated (isolated gymnastic (IG), n = 15;30.13 ± 7.24 years—combined gymnastic and strength (CG), n = 15;29.46 ± 8.18 years). Similarly values were found among groups for all outcomes (p > 0.05). The results suggest that the association of strength training with gymnastics training, possibly accumulating excessive training volume, may not increase the levels of maximum strength, endurance muscular and quality of life in young women. 展开更多

Purpose: Stretching exercise and gymnastics both have beneficial effects, such as improvement of autonomic nervous system activity and mood. Additionally, studies on the effects of exercise on cognitive function have been conducted covering a wide range of age groups and have attracted much attention. However, conventional studies have set up programs with implementation times of 20 to 30 minutes. Therefore, shorter stretching programs are needed in order to fit them more easily into one’s free time. We examined the effects of a short 7-minute stretching gymnastics regime on the autonomic nervous system activity and cognitive function in 21 healthy participants. Methods: In this study, the participants performed a 10-minute cognitive task, followed by either Stretch Well Gymnastics, Stretch Band Gymnastics, or Radio Gymnastics sessions on different days. The participants then performed the cognitive task again. Heart rate was measured continuously throughout the experiment and we analyzed the heart rate variability. The cognitive tasks completed by all of the participants were evaluated for inhibitory control and cognitive flexibility. Results: A significant increase was shown in the sympathetic nerve activity during the Stretch Well Gymnastics, compared to the Radio Gymnastics and Stretch Band Gymnastics. Parasympathetic nerve levels were significantly increased after the gymnastics, compared to during the gymnastics, although there were no significant differences between any of the tasks. Additionally, in both the Stroop task and the number-Letter task, reaction times were faster in all of the sessions. In particular, the Stroop task showed the highest values for the Radio Gymnastics sessions, with marginally significantly lower scores for the Stretch Well Gymnastics sessions. Conclusion: The results showed that these heart rate variability responses supported the effects of autonomic activity associated with conventional low-intensity exercise. Additionally, stretching gymnastics for less than 10 minutes showed a positive effect on inhibitory function and cognitive flexibility. 展开更多

For Japan, the proportion of elderly people aged 65 and over is 27.3%. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare estimates that in 2060, the proportion of the elderly people aged 75 or older to the total population will exceed 26.9%. Japan has nursing problems in a rapidly aging society. Therefore, the long-term care insurance system is being reviewed. The state, prefectures, and local governments are carrying out various campaigns from the perspective of long-term care prevention. One of them is fall prevention. Falling of the elderly often causes bedridden and death. Therefore, in this study, in order to examine the influence of exercise habits of the elderly on gait, the results of questionnaire survey and actual 10 m walking speed were obtained for elderly people who participated in the health class. As a result, walking speed was fast for people with exercise habits. As for exercise, walking speed was faster for those who continued with exercise such as walking than for those who did muscle training. By continuing the light exercise like walking, it might be possible to maintain the muscles of the lower limbs and cultivate a sense of balance or lead to the fall prevention of the elderly. 展开更多

Gymnasts are exposed to intense training, frequent competitions, controlled diets and high levels of psychological distress in youth age. These aspects can negatively affect athletic performance and have health consequences.Accordingly,if the coaches do not possess adequate knowledge and specific multi-disciplinary skills related to sports practice and health pedagogy, young athletes can be exposed to different health risks. The aim of this study is to investigate the knowledge and attitudes of coaches and identify any education needs to enhance or preserve the gymnasts’well-being.The sample is represented by 98 Italian rhythmic gymnastics coaches of different levels. The data were obtained by using structured and anonymous questionnaires with open and closed answers administered through interview. The aspects examined are related to nutrition, food supplements, overtraining syndrome, educational topics, gymnasts’hassles and trainings needs of coaches.Critical aspects that emerge from this study show the need for specific scientific training and support for coaches. This objective can be achieved by providing constant technical and scientific support,in order to make the coaches fully aware of their educational, pedagogical and long-term health responsibilities of their athletes. 展开更多
