The author carried out an investigative survey by way of random sampling college students’ handset reading behavior at 10 universities in Nanjing. It was hoped that through such an undertaking and accompanied it with a scientific analysis of the collected data, we may gain a better understanding about the present handset reading situation of Chinese college students in general and the characteristics of the students’ handset reading behavior such as their needs of handset reading, their access techniques to handset reading,and their level of sophistication of handset reading utilization, etc. in particular. Based on his research findings, the author concludes his paper with a calling to those handset reading service providers, such as university library administrators and library and information professionals to strive for further professional advancement for their handset based information service delivery operation. 展开更多

The research on consumers' purchase intention for 3G handsets has important theoretical and practical value. This research puts forward four key factors which influence consumers' purchase intention based on the cue utilization theory, situational theory and social impact theory, then it establishes the study model for consumers' purchase intention of 3G handsets. Based on the result of the questionnaire survey and empirical analysis, the study shows that social influence is the most prominent factor in purchase intention. Moreover, as different from results of previous studies, the situational influence factors have no significant impact on purchase intention in the 3G handsets market. The results of the model provides a forceful evidence for operators' and handset manufacturers' decision-making of 3G handsets design and marketing strategies, and it will improve their social impact. 展开更多

Establishing a two-sided market (specialized market) is an effective way to build a national value chain (NVC). The Chinese knock-off wireless handset industry has succeeded in building a miniature version of an NVC based on the Huaqiangbei Market, a typical specialized market. "Ihis paper begins b), analyzing the differences in the industrial chains of knock-off and traditional wireless handsets and concludes that due to lacking after-sales service, the value chain of knock-off wireless handsets is consumer-driven, with a focus on manufacturing and marketing. Analysis of the knock-off wireless handset-based NVC reveals that multi-level demands, a maturing industry and adaptive innovation are three pre-conditions for Chinese manufacturing to build an NVC in a two-sided market. Given the uneven scale and techniques among knock-off handset makers, their addiction to the low-end market and imperfect value chains constructed using the "knockoff pattern" this paper proposes that China can break these bottlenecks by letting the specialized and unilateral markets develop closer to each other and by providing governmental guidance in the specialized market. 展开更多
