Based on the Danish Health Interview Survey 2005 (SUSY), a sample of 10,983 persons aged 35 years or older was examined. Data was collected through personal interviews (response rate = 66.7%) and self-administered questionnaires (51.5%). The sample was divided into three mutual exclusive groups: IHD;other chronic illnesses;and no chronic illness. The prevalence of IHD was 5.6% (5.2 - 6.0). The disease was more common in men than women, and the average age was 67.5 years. People with self-reported IHD were characterized as having poorer health behaviors;more risk factors: 40% smokers, 21% sedentary lifestyle, 26% obese;higher utilization of the health-care services;and poorer HRQoL. When compared to people with other chronic diseases, people with IHD continued to show the same characteristics. The IHD group had more problems affecting their daily lives than the other two groups. The issues that affected the people with IHD have also been shown to increase the load on the health-care system. Therefore, it is important to the patients, health-care, and society that the prevalence of IHD is reduced and the burden of disease is made a priority.展开更多

Qigong practice has long been part of daily life in Chinese culture, and has good effects on physical health maintenance. OBJECTIVE: The present work describes the change in balance in young, healthy women after practising Qigong for eight weeks. DESIGN, SETTING, PARTICIPANTS AND INTERVENTIONS: The study took the form of a controlled, randomised longitudinal trial, and involved 30 women aged 18-25 years. The subjects had no prior experience of Qigong or Tai Chi and were unaware of the aims of the study. Subjects were randomly assigned to a Qigong intervention group or a control group. Those in the Qigong intervention group performed "exercises in 20 figures for health and long-life" (Wang Ziping) for 1 h twice per week, for 4 weeks. The control group undertook no exercise at all. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The main outcome measure was the stabilometry values. These were obtained in a unipodal support test, using a plantar pressure platform with optical sensors. RESULTS: The Qigong subjects showed a significant improvement in their stabilometry results (40.1% pre-intervention and 56.4% post-intervention) (P〈0.045), while no improvement was seen in the control group (51.2% pre-intervention and 53.5% post-intervention). At the beginning of the intervention, the stabilometry values recorded for the Qigong intervention group were worse than those recorded for the control group (40.15% and 51.21% respectively; P=0.121). However, a comparison of the post-intervention values between these groups showed that these differences have disappeared (P=0.653). CONCLUSION: Qigong can improve balance in healthy, young women.展开更多

According to the antique treaties, the foundations of traditional Chinese medicine are based in maintaining the harmony between Qi (energy), Jing (essence) and Shen (spirit). Alterations in this harmony can develop and determine the appearance of disease. Therapeutic effects of Qigong are helpful in the prevention and treatment of several diseases. It's main role in restoring body functions is due to the communication between internal organs, tissues and cells. The main goal of this work is to show the efficacy of Qigong in the treatment of a dermatological disease characterized by the appearance of circular or oval patches of missing hair, known as alopecia universalis. For western medicine the exact cause of this illness is not totally revealed, however, it's attributed to psycological, genetics and metabolic alterations. From the traditional Chinese medicine perspective, hair alterations are framed in the area of the water energy, represented by the kidney organ. The results of Qigong treatment suggested that the cranial hair follicles had been activated since the first treatment. As treatment progressed, the cranial hair follicles continued to grow, what's more, the brightness and pigmentation of the hair also increased. Therefore, in the clinical conditions evaluated, Qigong could be an effective alternative treatment in consideration of the visible evidence about rapid and long lasting results. Besides, we did not observe any side effects of Qigong in this case.展开更多

文摘Objective:Health-care workers(HCWs)are known to be at high risk for occupational biological hazards, and this includes exposure to mycobacterium tuberculosis(TB)which can result in either active or latent TB infection(LTBI).This study aims to provide an overview of the incidence of LTBI among HCWs in Brunei Darussalam,to examine associated risk factors, and to evaluate LTBI treatment compliance.Materials and Methods:This is a retrospective cross-sectional study which was conducted using data from January 2018 to December 2021,on notified cases of LTBI in HCWs which identified 115 cases.Demographic data, underlying medical conditions, and compliance to treatment were assessed through reviews of their electronic health records. Results:The incidence of LBTI was 14.6/year/1000 HCWs.The incidence rate reached a high of 24.6/1000 in 2020,and majority of cases were in the older age groups. There was good treatment acceptance and compliance(82.6%),and this was observed to be significantly higher in females than males(P=0.02).Conclusion:This study showed an average incidence of LTBI of 14.6/1000 HCWs over 4 years and high LTBI treatment acceptance(82.6%)and compliance.Emphasis on infection prevention and control measures in health-care settings and actions to increase awareness of LTBI are crucial interventions toward reducing the burden of LTBI.
文摘Background: Hand hygiene is the leading measure for preventing the spread of antimicrobial resistance and reducing healthcare-associated infections, but health care worker compliance with optimal practices remains low in most settings. Objective: The main aim of this paper is to determine findings and start drafting policies in implementing them into practice after finding out nurses’ opinions, beliefs and attitudes toward hand hygiene (HH). Methodology and methods: A cross sectional descriptive and observational study during November 2009. Results: From the total number of 175 health care workers employed in this unit, 67 (38.3%) were observed regarding adherence to hand hygiene. Regarding the knowledge, practices and attitudes of the nurses, data were collected from 54 (50.0%) among 108 nurses in four intensive care units within the University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (UCCK). From research findings, it was concluded that hand hygiene compliance in the intensive care units was low (51.3%). Conclusion: Research results show the necessity of organizing multimodal programs with intensive care units of University Clinical Centre of Kosovo (UCCK) on increase of knowledge level on health-care associated infections (HAI).
文摘The aim of this study was to present the prevalence of self-reported Ischemic Heart Disease (IHD) based on a national population-based survey and to characterize people with self-reported IHD with respect to health behavior, risk factors, health-care services utilization and health-related HRQoL;further to compare people with self-reported IHD to those with other chronic illness and people without chronic illness. Therefore, it is important to the patients, health-care, and society that the prevalence of IHD is reduced and the burden of disease is made a priority.
文摘BACKGROUND: Balance problems are common in people of all ages and can lead to falls, thus causing fractures with consequent disability. CONCLUSION: Qigong can improve balance in healthy, young women.
文摘To summarize the application and modern studies on health Qigong Baduanjin by domestic and foreign scholars, combined them with clinical practice of mobile hospital in Wuhan,we explore the prevention, treatment, and recovery of Baduanjin in the war against COVID‑19.On the basis of studying ancient classics, such as Huangdi’s Internal Classic, and the concrete exercise methods of Baduanjin,we propose three ideas:prevention before disease onset, promoting healing during illness, and strengthening the body after recovery. We aimed to give full play to Baduanjin in the battle against COVID‑19 to popularize correct prevention and health knowledge for the patients and the healthy as well as to provide a reference for medical workers to use Traditional Chinese Medicine to prevention and treatment.
文摘Qigong is a part of traditional Chinese medicine. Besides, we did not observe any side effects of Qigong in this case.

文摘Objective:To investigate the influence of qigong on late positive potential, which was elicited by affective pictures. Methods:College students who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled and randomly allocated to the qigong group, which received a four-week training(n=41)or the control group(n=41).All participants were assessed before and after the training for event-related potential, which was elicited by negative, neutral, and positive pictures.Electrodes at the centerline position of the frontal area(FCz),parietal area(Pz),and occipital area(Oz)were analyzed. Results:Negative, neutral, and positive pictures demonstrated statistically significant differences on FCz(P<.001),Pz(P<.001),and Oz(P<.001).The interaction between the group factor and time factor was statistically significant on Pz(P<.028).The pairwise comparison of Pz on the time factor and group factor showed that the amplitudes of the qigong group after training were smaller than before(P<.001),and the amplitudes of the control group were not statistically significant(P?.355).Conclusion:Our results supported the conclusion that qigong practices could affect the emotional regulation of college students.Qigong exercise weakens the emotional regulation of late positive potential, which is sensitive to top-down affective modulation. The findings imply that the regulating effect of qigong on emotions may be part of the reason why it is effective in reducing depression and anxiety symptoms.
