Temperature-time curves were measured for the air cooling and laminar cooling of a steel plate.Convective heat transfer coefficients of steel plate and air as well as steel plate and laminar cooling water were computed inversely. Therefore, the temperature field in the single-face quenching process of a steel pipe was simulated using ABAQUS finite element softw are,and the relationships betw een the temperatures and quenching time at different positions of the steel pipe were obtained. In addition, the relationships betw een the cooling rates and quenching time,as w ell as betw een cooling rates and temperatures, were obtained. The simulation quickly produced accurate results, and it can be used to optimize the quenching process. In addition, the results provide a basis for rationally designing the composition of a single-face quenching steel pipe. 展开更多

The accurate simulation of boundary layer transition process plays a very important role in the prediction of turbine blade temperature field. Based on the Abu-Ghannam and Shaw (AGS) and c-Re h transition models, a 3D conjugate heat transfer solver is developed, where the fluid domain is discretized by multi-block structured grids, and the solid domain is discretized by unstructured grids. At the unmatched fluid/solid interface, the shape function interpolation method is adopted to ensure the conservation of the interfacial heat flux. Then the shear stress transport (SST) model, SST & AGS model and SST & c-Re h model are used to investigate the flow and heat transfer characteristics of Mark II turbine vane. The results indicate that compared with the full turbulence model (SST model), the transition models could improve the prediction accuracy of temperature and heat transfer coefficient at the laminar zone near the blade leading edge. Compared with the AGS transition model, the c-Re h model could predict the transition onset location induced by shock/boundary layer interaction more accurately, and the prediction accuracy of temperature field could be greatly improved. 展开更多

In this paper, an analysis is made on the unsteady flow of an incompressible electrically conducting viscous fluid bounded by an infinite porous flat plate. The plate executes harmonic oscillations at a frequency n in its own plane. A uniform magnetic field Ho is imposed perpendicular to the direction of the flow. It is found that the solution also exists for blowing at the plate. The temperature distribution is also obtained by taking viscous and Joule dissipation into account. The mean wall temperature θo(O) decreases with the increase in the Hall parameter m. It is found that no temperature distribution exists for the blowing at the plate. 展开更多

In the Leidenfrost state, the liquid drop is levitated above a hot solid surface by a vapor layer generated via evaporation from the drop. The vapor layer thermally insulates the drop from the heating surface, causing deteriorated heat transfer in a myriad of important engineering applications. Thus, it is highly desirable to suppress the Leidenfrost effect and elevate the Leidenfrost temperature. This paper presents a comprehensive review of recent literature concerning the Leidenfrost drops on micro/nanostructured surfaces with an emphasis on the enhancement of the Leidenfrost temperature. The basic physical processes of the Leidenfrost effect and the key characteristics of the Leidenfrost drops were first intro- duced. Then, the major findings of the influence of various micro/nanoscale surface structures on the Leidenfrost temperature were presented in detail, and the underlying enhancement mechanism for each specific surface topology was also discussed. It was concluded that multiscale hierarchical surfaces hold the best promise to significantly boost the Leidenfrost temperature by combin- ing the advantages of both micro- and nanoscale structures. 展开更多
