This study presents the environmental impact assessment of an absorption heat transformer designed to recover 1 kW of thermal energy from each 2 kW of waste heat supplies. The net contribution of the heat transformer is a load avoided of 0.665 kg CO2 equivalents;the recovery process avoids 0.729 kg CO2 equivalents and the major contribution to the environment impacts is the pumping process with 0.0437 kg CO2 equivalents for each 1 kWh recovered. The study results show that absorption heat transformer is a good environmental option because it produces useful energy from waste heat and the final result is an environmental impact diminution. 展开更多

UiO-66 is a potential material for adsorption heat transformation(AHT)with high specific surface area,and excellent thermal and chemical stability.However,the low water adsorption capacity of UiO-66 in the low relative pressure range(0<P/P_(0)<0.3)limits its application in AHT.We prepare the UiO-66 modified by MgCl_(2)through using the solvothermal method and impregnation method,and study their water vapor adsorption performances and heat storage capacities.Attributed to the extremely high saturated water uptake and excellent hydrophilicity of MgCl_(2),the water adsorption performance of UiO-66 is improved,although the introduction of MgCl_(2)reduces its specific surface area and pore volume.The water adsorption capacity at P/P_(0)=0.3 and the saturated water adsorption capacity of the UiO-66(with MgCl_(2)content of 0.57 wt%)modified by the solvothermal method are 0.27 g/g and 0.57 g/g at 298 K,respectively,which are 68.8%and 32.6%higher than the counterparts of pure UiO-66,respectively.Comparing with pure UiO-66,the water adsorption capacity of the UiO-66(with MgCl_(2)content of 1.02 wt%)modified by the impregnation method is increased by 56.3%and 14.0%at the same pressure,respectively.During 20 water adsorption/desorption cycles,the above two materials show high heat storage densities(~1293 J/g and 1378 J/g).Therein,the UiO-66 modified by the solvothermal method exhibits the excellent cyclic stability.These results suggest that the introduction of an appropriate amount of MgCl_(2)makes UiO-66more suitable for AHT applications. 展开更多

A method to simulate processes of forging and subsequent heat treatment of an axial symmetric rod is formulated in eulerian description and the feasibility is investigated. This method uses finite volume mushes for troching material deformation and an automatically refined facet surface to accurately trace the free surface of the deforming material.In the method,the deforming work piece flows through fixed finite volume meshes using eulerian formulation to describe the conservation laws,Fixed finite volume meshing is particularly suitable for large three-dimensional deformation such as forging because remeshing techniques are not required, which are commonly considered to be the main bottelencek in the ssimulations of large defromation by using the finite element method,By means of this finite volume method, an approach has been developed in the framework of 'metallo-thermo-mechanics' to simulate metallic structure, temperature and stress/strain coupled in the heat treatment process.In a first step of simulation, the heat treatment solver is limited in small deformation hypothesis,and un- coupled with forging. The material is considered as elastic-plastic and takes into account of strain, strain rate and temperature effects on the yield stress.Heat generation due to deformation,heat con- duction and thermal stress are considered.Temperature - dependent phase transformation,stress-in- duced phase transformation,latent heat,transformation stress and strain are included.These ap- proaches are implemented into the commerical commercial computer program MSC/SuperForge and a verification example with experimental date is given as comparison. 展开更多

On Clausius’, Post-Clausius’, and Negentropic Thermodynamics

The evidence here provided shows that the thermodynamics of the second law, as currently understood, originated in a correction of the flaws affecting Clausius original work on this matter. The body of knowledge emerging from this correction has been here called post-Clausius’ thermodynamics. The said corrections, carried on with the intended goal of preserving the validity of Clausius’ main result, namely the law of increasing entropy, made use of a number of counterintuitive or logically at fault notions. A joint revision of Clausius’ and post-Clausius’ work on the second law, carried on retaining some of Clausius original notions, and disregarding others introduced by post-Clausius thermodynamics, led this author to results in direct contradiction to the law of increasing entropy. Among the key results coming out of this work we find the one stating that the total-entropy change for spontaneous thermodynamic processes is the result of the summation of the opposite-sign contributions coming from the entropic (energy degrading) and negentropic (energy upgrading) changes subsumed by any such process. These results also show, via the total-entropy change for a non-reversible heat engine, that negentropic thermodynamics subsumes post-Clausius thermodynamics as a special case. 展开更多

Absorption heat pump attracts increasing attention due to its advantages in low grade thermal energy utilization. It can be applied for waste heat reuse to save energy consumption, reduce environment pollution, and bring considerable economic benefit. In this paper, three important aspects for absorption heat pump for waste heat reuse are reviewed. In the first part, different absorption heat pump cycles are classified and introduced. Absorption heat pumps for heat amplification and absorp- tion heat transformer for temperature upgrading are included. Both basic single effect cycles and advanced cycles for better performance are introduced. In the second part, different working pairs, including the water based working pairs, ammonia based working pairs, alcohol based working pairs, and halogenated hydrocarbon based working pairs, for absorption heat pump are classified based on the refrigerant. In the third part, the applications of the absorption heat pump and absorption heat transformer for waste heat reuse in different industries are introduced. Based on the reviews in the three aspects, essential summary and future perspective are presented at last. 展开更多

New trigeneration system consists of an internal combustion engine,a power and cooling cogeneration system and an absorption heat transformer system.The exhaust gas is recovered by the power and cooling cogeneration subsystem producing the cooling and power.The jacket water is recovered by the absorption heat transformer subsystem producing lowpressure steam.The exergy performance and the energy saving performance which is evaluated by the primary energy saving ratio of the new distributed energy system are analyzed.The effects of the ratio of the output power and cooling of the power and cooling cogeneration subsystem and the generator outlet temperature of the absorption heat transformer subsystem to the primary energy saving ratio are considered.The contributions of the subsystems to the primary energy saving ratio are quantified.The maximum primary energy saving ratio of the new distributed energy system is 15.8%,which is 3.9 percentage points higher than that of the conventional distributed energy system due to the cascade utilization of the waste heat from the internal combustion engine. 展开更多

The effect of rare earth(RE) on continuous heating transformation of a high speed steel for rolls was investigated by using differ-ential scanning calorimetry(DSC) with combination of microstructure analysis.Determination of the Ac1 and Ac3,the starting temperature of carbide dissolution and melting upon heating,the enthalpy change for the α→γ transformation and overall carbide dissolution were also es-tablished.It was found that RE could reduce the volume fraction of large eutectic carbides and the chrysanthemum-like eutectic colonies but could not change the phase composition.RE made a little change to Ac1,but the variation in Ac3 and enthalpy for the α→γ followed an in-creasing pattern as the RE addition increased.The start temperatures of carbides dissolution increased with increase of RE addition,which may be associated with the influences of RE on the morphology of carbides,but the overall enthalpy change of carbides dissolution decreases as the RE addition increased.Moreover,the start temperature of melting also increased with increasing RE addition. 展开更多

The continuous heating transformation program is developed to investigate the influence of continuous annealing technological parameters on recrystalization for cold-rolled strip in galvanizing line.This program can be used for the calculation of the continuous annealing temperature field of strip steel,determination of the start and end time of recrystallization in continuous heating process,and procurement of the continuous heating transformation diagram.The temperature field for continuous annealing is simulated by means of finite difference method.Based on the Scheil superposition principle,the continuous heating transformation curve is obtained by using time temperature transformation(TTT)curve which is measured experimentally.The developed program has been used in practice,and the strip speed on production line increases bv more than 10%. 展开更多

The influence of heat treatment with different cooling rates on phase transition behaviors and magnetocaloric effect is systematically studied.Difference in atomic order is induced by changing cooling rates,where ordered phase is obtained in the furnace cooled(FC)sample while disordered phase is reserved in the water quenched(WQ)sample.The coupled magneto-structural transition is detected in both samples but the characteristic temperature significantly shifts to lower temperatures with increasing atomic order.Giant magnetic entropy change(ΔS_(mag))derived from magnetic field induced martensitic transformation is confirmed for both samples,and can be remarkably enhanced by the atomic ordering.The largestΔS_(mag) of 20.9J/(kg·K)is obtained at 307.5Kunder 5Tin the FC sample. 展开更多
