Effect of plasma absorption on dust lattice waves in hexagonal dust crystals

In the present paper, the effect of plasma absorption on lattice waves in 2D hexagonal dust crystals is investigated. The dispersion relations with the effect of plasma absorption are derived.It is found that the temperature effect(electron-to-ion temperature ratio τ) enhances the frequency of the dust lattice waves, while the spatial effect(dimensionless Debye shielding parameter k) weakens the frequency of the dust lattice waves. In addition, the system stabilities under the conditions of plasma absorption are studied. It is found that the temperature effect narrows the range of instability, while the spatial effect extends this range. And the range of instability is calculated, i.e. the system will always in the stable state regardless of the value of k when τ?>?3.5. However, the system will be unstable when τ?=?1 and k> 4.1. 展开更多

This paper investigates the collision between two nonlinear waves with different propagation directions in two- dimensional dust crystals. Using the extended Poincare-Lighthill-Kuo perturbation method, two Korteweg-de Vries equations for nonlinear waves in both the ξ and η directions are obtained, respectively, and the analytical phase shifts and trajectories after the collision of two nonlinear waves are derived. Finally, the effects of parameters of the lattice constant a, the arbitrary constant u0η, the forces f(r), and the colliding angle θ on the phase shifts of both colliding nonlinear waves are examined. 展开更多

Ordered iron fiber arrays were electrodeposited on the surface of zinc foils using "FeSO4 solution-sodium caprylate-Decanol" 3-component reverse hexagonal liquid crystal as soft templates. The structure of the soft templates and the synthesized iron ,fibers were characterized by polarizing microscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive X-ray microanalysis etc. The experimental results shou that the synthesized iron fibers with a crystal phase grew up in the form of fiber clusters of about 200 nm along the direction perpendicular to the cathode surface. Each cluster was composed of several tens of fibers. The fibers had almost the same length of more than 10μm with a diameter of about 50 nm. 展开更多

WO3 nanowires were fabricated by a hydrothermal method,which proceeded at 170 ℃ for 48 h in a solution containing C2H10N6H2SO4 as a dispersant and Na2WO4 as a starting material.The nanowires exhibit a well crystallized one-dimensional structure with 20 nm in diameter and several microns in length.The physicochemical properties of WO3 were compared using X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),transmission electron microscopy(TEM),energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) and UV-vis spectroscopy(UV-Vis).The photoactivity of the as-perpared WO3 nanowires was evaluated through the photodegradation of methylene blue(MB) in aqueous solution.The experimental results demonstrate that addition of C2H10N6H2SO4 salt in the WO3 nanowires synthesis process can enhance its photocatalytic activity obviously. 展开更多

By making use of our improved model the calculations on scattering phase matrices of hexagonal prism ice crystals(HPIC)have been conducted for monodisperse and polydisperse systems.Compared with the model of Cai and Liou,the required computational quantity is decreased by about two orders of magni- tude and the errors of results are less for the new model.Meanwhile,the scattering phase matrices of triangular pyramid ice crystals(TPIC)are also computed in the paper,and the comparison between the scatterings of the two forms of ice crystals is performed. 展开更多

Based on the reported physical parameters for hexagonal system solids,we have calculated the effects of anisotropy on polarization of plane P-wave propagation.Herein we report the results of calculations and the newly observed physical phenomena.It is found that,for a given propagation,if the polarization is parallel to the wave vector,so also to the Poynting vector.In such a case,the phase velocity is identical to the energy velocity;the quasi P-wave degenerates to a pure P-wave along the propagation.It is also noted that if the polarization is parallel to the Poynting vector but not to the wave vector,the propagating wave cannot be a pure P-wave.Furthermore,the polarization in a quasi P-wave may deviate from the wave vector for more than 45°,but the deviation from the Poynting vector is always less than 45°.The energy velocity of a quasi SV-wave can be larger than that of the quasi P-wave in some propagation directions,even though the phase velocity of a quasi SV-wave may never be larger than either the phase velocity or energy velocity of the quasi P-wave.Finally,in case of parameters ε=0 and δ*≠0,the polarization of a quasi P-wave has an observed symmetry at a 45°phase angle.The anisotropy of a hexagonal system solid determines if a pure P-wave can be created and what the propagation direction is for a plane wave propagating inside such a hexagonal system solid. 展开更多

Uniformly sized α-Fe2O3 hexagonal platelets were synthesized by a hydrothermal process using Fe(OH)3 suspension and large amount of NaOH. The reaction products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), selected area electron diffraction (SAED), and a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSM). The results show that the hexagonaq platelets are fine, monodisperse and consisting of single-crystals. The magnetic hysteresis (M-H) curvel of the samples measured at room temperature indicates that the α-Fe2O3 micro-platelets exhibit ferromagnetic behaviors with relatively low coercivity. 展开更多

The hexagonal liquid crystalline phase of SDS (Sodium dodecyl sulfate)/H2O system changes into lamellar liquid crystal and the effective length of surfactant molecule d0/2 in the lamellar liquid crystal decreases with the addition of ethanol. The micellar aggregation number N of SDS decreases and the micellar diffusion coefficient increases with the added ethanol. Under a constant concentration of SDS, the molecule number ratio of ethanol to SDS in the micelle increases with the concentration of ethanol and even exceeds 10 when ethanol concentration is 1. 085 mol/L. All these results show that ethanol, even though a short chain alcohol and soluble in water, can partly exist in the interphase of the amphiphilic aggregates showing some properties of co-surfactant. 展开更多
