The surface temperature history and volume fraction of pearlite as well as the phase transformation history were simulated by using the finite element software Marc/Mentat. For the congestion problems in high-speed networks, a genetic based fuzzy Q-learning flow controller is proposed. Because of the uncertainties and highly time-varying, it is not easy to accurately obtain the complete information for high-speed networks. In this case, the Q-learning, which is independent of mathematic model, and prior-knowledge, has good performance. The fuzzy inference is introduced in order to facilitate generalization in large state space, and the genetic operators are used to obtain the consequent parts of fuzzy rules. Simulation results show that the proposed controller can learn to take the best action to regulate source flow with the features of high throughput and low packet loss ratio, and can avoid the occurrence of congestion effectively. 展开更多

Previous studies have confirmed that an active suspension system with high speed ON/OFF solenoid valves could provide the same vibration isolation efficiency as that of system with pressure proportional valve. In this study, by using Linear-quadratic optimization technique and Kalman filter method, an optimal regulator controller with a state observer was designed for the proposed system. Simulation and experimental research was conducted on a quarter car model. The simulation analysis of the system frequency characteristic suggested that the peak value of magnitude response curve in the case of system with an optimal controller would be lowered significantly, and the experiment results also showed that an improvement in the vibration isolation effect was obtained in using the designed optimal controller over the sky hook damper controller. 展开更多

Aim at improving the stability of the Short-circuiting Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW-S) process for the enhanced speed usage, effects of current waveform parameters during short-term on the welding stability have been investigated by experimental method. The welding power source used for the research is an inverter with a special current waveform control. It is shown that the spatter decreases at first then increases with each increase of the low current period, current increase rate and the maximum current limit. The test results are provided for welding of 1 mm and 3 mm mild steel at speed of 1.2 m/min. The stable GMA W-S process under high speed welding condition has been achieved by optimizing the parameters. 展开更多

However, to sustain ... The efficient manufacture technique involves a high-speed control of platform mobile system. A linear acutor is presented in this paper. The linear acutor is constructed as a linear stepper motor. However, to sustain both high accuracy and high speed for the position and speed control, A single-stack computer system is constructed and a special control algorithm is prescribed to controled the linear actuator continuously. In this paper, the nonlinear errors resulted from the magnetic saturation and the hysteresis is anaysis and discussed. In the view of electromagnetic propotional control, the actuator is a stage proportional magnet, because the driving current to the linear acuator changes for a number of cycles and a series of reset points will occur as the current undergoes cyclic changes. At each reset point the original starting characteristics of the system are re-established. A large number of reset points across the full stroke of the platform results in a significant reduction in the nonlinear behavior. The stage control is first discussed. Experiments carried out to obtain the characteristics of the mobile platform control system. It is demonstrated that with the introduction of stage control, nonlinearities, such as saturation and hysteresis, are greatly reduced, system stiffness is increased, and the positioning accuracy and resolution are improved. The effect of dither due to a "digital fragment" signal is also examined and found to be crucial in reducing the hysteresis and in improving the resolution accuracy. 展开更多

The aerodynamic braking is a clean and non-adhesion braking, and can be used to provide extra braking force during high-speed emergency braking. The research of aerodynamic braking has attracted more and more attentions in recent years. However, most researchers in this field focus on aerodynamic effects and seldom on issues of position control of the aerodynamic braking board. The purpose of this paper is to explore position control optimization of the braking board in an aerodynamic braking prototype. The mathematical models of the hydraulic drive unit in the aerodynamic braking system are analyzed in detail, and the simulation models are established. Three control functions--constant, linear, and quadratic--are explored. Two kinds of criteria, including the position steady-state error and the acceleration of the piston rod, are used to evaluate system performance. Simulation results show that the position steady state-error is reduced from around 12-2 mm by applying a linear instead of a constant function, while the acceleration is reduced from 25,71-3.70 m/s2 with a quadratic control function. Use of the quadratic control function is shown to improve system performance. Experimental results obtained by measuring the position response of the piston rod on a test-bench also suggest a reduced position error and smooth movement of the piston rod. This implies that the acceleration is smaller when using the quadratic function, thus verifying the effectiveness of control schemes to improve to system performance. This paper proposes an effective and easily implemented control scheme that improves the position response of hydraulic cylinders during position control. 展开更多

In this paper, the robust output feedback cruise control for high-speed train movement with uncertain parameters is investigated. The dynamic of a high-speed train is modeled by a cascade of cars connected by flexible couplers, which is subject to rolling mechanical resistance, aerodynamic drag and wind gust. Based on Lyapunov's stability theory, the sufficient condition for the existence of the robust output feedback cruise control law is given in terms of linear matrix inequalities(LMIs), under which the high-speed train tracks the desired speed, the relative spring displacement between the two neighboring cars is stable at the equilibrium state, and meanwhile a small prescribed H∞ disturbance attenuation level is guaranteed. One numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed methods. 展开更多

The work-class remotely-operated-underwater-vehicles(ROVs) are mainly driven by hydraulic propulsion system,and the effeciency of hydraulic propulsion system is an important performance index of ROVs.However,the efficiency of traditional hydraulic propulsion system controlled by throttle valves is too low.Therefore,in this paper,for small and medium ROVs,a novel propulsion system with higher efficiency based on high speed on/off valve control hydraulic propeller is proposed.To solve the conflict between large flow rate and high frequency response performance,a two-stage high speed on/off valve-motor unit with large flow rate and high response speed simultaneously is developed.Through theoretical analysis,an effective fluctuation control method and a novel pulse-width-pulse-frequency-modulation(PWPFM) are introduced to solve the conflict among inherently fluctuation,valve dynamic performance and system efficiency.A simulation model is established to evaluate the system performance.To prove the advantage of system in energy saving,and test the dynamic control performance of high speed on/off valve control propeller,a test setup is developed and a series of comparative experiments is completed.The smimulation and experiment results show that the two-stage high speed on/off valve has an excellent dynamic response performance,and can be used to realize high accuracy speed control.The experiment results prove that the new propulsion system has much more advantages than the traditional throttle speed regulation system in energy saving.The lowest efficiency is more than 40%.The application results on a ROV indicate that the high speed on/off valve control propeller system has good dynamic and steady-state control performances.Its transient time is only about 1 s-1.5 s,and steady-state error is less than 5%.Meanwhile,the speed fluctuation is small,and the smooth propeller speed control effect is obtained.On the premise of good propeller speed control performance,the proposed high speed on/off valve control propeller can improve the effeciency of ROV propulsion system significantly,and provides another attractive ROV propulsion system choice for engineers. 展开更多

This paper addresses the control design for automatic train operation of high-speed trains with protection constraints.A new resilient nonlinear gain-based feedback control approach is proposed,which is capable of guaranteeing,under some proper non-restrictive initial conditions,the protection constraints control raised by the distance-to-go(moving authority)curve and automatic train protection in practice.A new hyperbolic tangent function-based model is presented to mimic the whole operation process of high-speed trains.The proposed feedback control methods are easily implementable and computationally inexpensive because the presence of only two feedback gains guarantee satisfactory tracking performance and closed-loop stability,no adaptations of unknown parameters,function approximation of unknown nonlinearities,and attenuation of external disturbances in the proposed control strategies.Finally,rigorous proofs and comparative simulation results are given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approaches. 展开更多

TCP faces new challenges in this unique environment. Theory and experiments showed that TCP becomes inefficient and is prone to be unstable as the per-flow product of bandwidth and latency increases, regardless of the queuing scheme. Variable-structure congestion Control Protocol (VCP) is proposed to address these problems. However, VCP has problem in terms of convergence time, i.e., it takes a long time for a new VCP flow to achieve fair bandwidth allocation if the existing VCP flows have large con- gestion windows. This paper proposed an Extended Variable-structure congestion Control Protocol (EVCP), which adopted a convergence controller. The basic idea of convergence controller is that if a flow has larger window than its fair window, its congestion window should be decreased more aggressively than usual in Multiplicative Decrease (MD) phase. Simulations showed that EVCP has better performance in terms of convergence time while keeping the advantages of VCP. 展开更多

To satisfy the need of high speed NC (numerical control) machining, an acceleration and deceleration (acc/dec) control model is proposed, and the speed curve is also constructed by the cubic polynomial. The proposed control model provides continuity of acceleration, which avoids the intense vibration in high speed NC machining. Based on the discrete characteristic of the data sampling interpolation, the acc/dec control discrete mathematical model is also set up and the discrete expression of the theoretical deceleration length is obtained furthermore. Aiming at the question of hardly predetermining the deceleration point in acc/dec control before interpolation, the adaptive acc/dec control algorithm is deduced from the expressions of the theoretical deceleration length. The experimental result proves that the acc/dec control model has the characteristic of easy implementation, stable movement and low impact. The model has been applied in multi-axes high speed micro fabrication machining successfully. 展开更多

Increase of elevator speed brings about amplified vibrations of high-speed elevator. In order to reduce the horizontal vibrations of high-speed elevator, a new type of hydraulic active guide roller system based on fuzzy logic controller is developed. First the working principle of the hydraulic guide system is introduced, then the dynamic model of the horizontal vibrations for elevator cage with active guide roller system and the mathematical model of the hydraulic system are given. A fuzzy logic controller for the hydraulic system is designed to control the hydraulic actuator. To improve the control performance, preview compensation for the controller is provided. Finally, simulation and experiments are executed to verify the hydraulic active guide roller system and the control strategy. Both the simulation and experimental results indicate that the hydraulic active guide roller system can reduce the horizontal vibrations of the elevator effectively and has better effects than the passive one, and the fuzzy logic controller with preview compensation can give superior control performance. 展开更多

Based on method of velocity control characteristics stored in control system, a fast algorithm for velocity smooth link is analyzed and formulated. The congestion control mechanisms of the current standard TCP constrain the congestion windows that can be achieved by TCP in high-speed networks, which leads to low link utilization. HSTCP is one solution to solve this problem by modifying the congestion control mechanism to have the characteristics of TCP friendliness in high loss rate environment and high scalability in low loss rate environment. However, experiments revealed that HSTCP has severe RTT unfairness. After analyzing the RTT unfairness in HSTCP with a model, we proposed CW-HSTCP, which added a fair factor to decrease the difference of congestion window caused by different RTT. Fair factor of long RTT flows can cause a sharp window increment that is easy to cause a bursty traffic, so a method called block-pacing was adopted. Simulation results showed that our new proposal could alleviate the RTT unfairness while keeping advantages of HSTCP. 展开更多

A schematic to make the spectra of the exterior noise of high speed railway was put forward. The exterior noise spectrum was defined based on the characteristics of the high-speed train exterior noise. Its characteristics considered here include identifying the exterior main sources and their locations, their frequency components including the Doppler effect due to the noise sources moving at high speed, the sound field intensity around the train in high-speed operation, the sound radiation path out of the train, and the pressure level and frequency components of the noise at the measuring points specified by the International Organization for Standardization(ISO). The characteristics of the high-speed train exterior noise of the high speed railways in operation were introduced. The advanced measuring systems and their principles for clearly indentifying the exterior noise sources were discussed in detail. Based on the concerned noise results measured at sites, a prediction model was developed to calculate the sound level and the characteristics of the exterior noise at any point where it is difficult to measure and to help to make the exterior noise spectrums. This model was also verified with the test results. The verification shows that there is a good agreement between the theoretical and experimental results. 展开更多

Moreover, we provide the control strategies of the high-speed passenger train operations based on the proposed formula of the real-time minimum safety headway and the dynamic model of highspeed passenger train movements. The simulation results demonstrate that the proposed control strategies of the passenger train operations can greatly reduce the delay propagation in the high-speed rail line when a random delay occurs. 展开更多

In the flotation process,bubble is a key factor in studying bubble-particle interaction and fine particle flotation.Knowledge on size distribution of bubbles in a flotation system is highly important.In this study,bubble distributions in different reagent concentrations,electrolyte concentrations,cathode apertures,and current densities in electroflotation are determined using a high-speed camera.Average bubble sizes under different conditions are calculated using Image-ProòPlus(Media Cyberneticsò,MD,USA)and SigmaScanòPro(Systat Software,CA,USA)software.Results indicate that the average sizes of bubbles,which were generated through 38,50,74,150,250,420,and 1000 lm cathode apertures,are 20.2,29.5,44.6,59.2,68.7,78.5,and 88.8 lm,respectively.The optimal current density in electroflotation is20 A/m2.Reagent and electrolyte concentrations,current density,and cathode aperture are important factors in controlling bubble size and nucleation.These factors also contribute to the control of fineparticle flotation. 展开更多

This paper discusses how to achieve good quality high-speed reeling, pointing out that for high-speed reeling, in the first place, miss feeding time should be shortened considerably, and that the supplyof correct end cocoons and the end feeding capacity should also meet certain requirements. The miss feed-ing time of most domestic and foreign models of high-speed reeling machines is about 5 seconds. In theSFD- 507 High-Speed Automatic Reeling Machine. the mechanoelectrical size control device (PatentNO. 8620786) can reduce miss feeding time down to 2. 5 seconds, thus ensuring satisfactory raw silkevenness in high-speed reeling. Furthermore, effective measures are taken to raise the end feeding ca-pacity and the supply of correct end cocoons. Therefore, this machine is able to meet in all respects thedemands of good quality high-speed reeling.
