Quasi- static compression tests were carried out with Instron 8874 test machine, while dynamic compression tests were performed with the split Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) which was installed with heating device and synchro- assembly system. The dynamic mechanical behaviors tests of TC17 were carded out from room temperature to 800 ℃ at intervals of 200 ℃ and at high sWain rates (5 500-1 9200 s-l). The stress-strain curves considering temperature-sWain rate coupling actions were obtained. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model was developed through data fitting of the stress-sWain curves. The material constants in the developed constitutive model can be determined using isothermal and adiabatic stress-strain curves at different strain rates. The results showed that dynamic recrystallization (DRX) developed mainly at grain boundaries at lower strain rate (0.1-1 s^-1), while in the case of higher strain rate (10-50 s^-1), DRX occurred extensively both at twins and grain boundaries at all temperature range, especially at temperature lower than 350 ℃, which resulted in a more homogeneous microstructure than that under other deformation conditions. The DRX extent determines the hot workability of the workpiece, therefore, hot deformation at the strain rate of 10-50 s^-1 and in the temperature range of 250-350 ℃ was desirable for ZK60 alloy. Twin induced DRX during high strain rate compression included three steps. Firstly, twins with high dislocation subdivided the initial grain, then dislocation arrays subdivided the twins into subgrains, and after that DRX took place with a further increase of strain.展开更多

The increase in ε eliminates strain softening at T≤473 K, and largely enhances the yield strength and flow stress at 473?573 K. The shear deformation dominates the plastic deformation of ECAP-treated Al. Many cracks along shear bands (SBs) are formed at T≥473 K and secondary SBs basically disappear at 1×10?3 s?1; however, at 1×10?2 s?1, cracks are only observed at temperature below 473 K, and secondary SBs become clearer at T≥473 K. The microstructures of ECAP-treated Al mainly consist of sub-grains (SGs). The increase in ε inhibits the SG growth, thus leading to the increases both in yield strength and flow stress at high temperatures.展开更多

The results showed that the contin- uous high temperature showed certain effects on the seed setting rates of tested materials, and significant differences were shown in seed setting rate among differ- ent rice cultivars (lines). The seed setting rates differed significantly among indica F1 hybrids derived from different sterile and restorer lines, indicating that the sterile and restorer lines had great effects on heat tolerances of different F~ hybrids. The cor- relation analysis showed that the seed setting rates of conventional indica restorer lines and conventional japonica rice cultivars (lines) were negatively related to the daily highest temperature (P〉0.05), and the seed setting rates of indica F1 hybrids were positively related to the seed setting rates of their restorer lines. Total four in- dica restorer lines, including Ninghuiguangkangzhan, Shuhui 527, Chenghui 3203 and Xianyin-8, and four new japonica rice cultivars (lines), including Wuyinjinghui (B2), Nanjing 4//W3660/Nanjing 44 (B12) and Wuyun 2330/JD6011 (B22) were pre- liminarily screened, and their seed setting rates were all close to the normal level (90%). The change rate has an important effect on running safety of the high temperature thermal storage chamber, too. But the characteristics of existing measuring installations are complex structure, troublesome operation and low precision. In order to measure the melting volume change rate of material accurately and conveniently, a self-designed measuring instrument, self-heating probe instrument, and measuring method are described. Temperature in heating cavity is controlled by PID temperature controller; melting volume change rate υ and molten density are calculated based on the melt volume which is measured by the instrument. Positive and negative υ represent expansion and shrinkage of the sample volume after melting, respectively. Taking eutectic LiF+CaF2 for example, its melting volume change rate and melting density at 1 123 K are -20.6% and 2 651 kg/m–3 measured by this instrument, which is only 0.71% smaller than literature value. Density and melting volume change rate of industry pure aluminum at 973 K and analysis pure NaCl at 1 123 K are detected by the instrument too. The measure results are agreed with report values. Measuring error sources are analyzed and several improving measures are proposed. In theory, the measuring errors of the change rate and molten density which are measured by the self-designed instrument is nearly 1/20-1/50 of that measured by the refitted mandril thermal expansion instrument. The self-designed instrument and method have the advantages of simple structure, being easy to operate, extensive applicability for material, relatively high accuracy, and most importantly, temperature and sample vapor pressure have little effect on the measurement accuracy. The presented instrument and method solve the problems of complicated structure and procedures, and large measuring errors for the samples with high vapor pressure by existing installations.展开更多

The mechanical properties of limestone such as the stress-strain curve, variable characteristics of peak strength and the modulus of elasticity of limestone were studied under the strain rates ranging from 1.1 10à5 to 1.1 10à1 sà1. The experimental results show that the flexural strength of Al2O3 decreases with increasing specimen height at room temperature, and it tends to stability when height increases to a certain degree (h=5mm in this paper), while the flexural strength of Al2O3 variates unapparently at high temperature with increasing height. There is a critical loading rate R . c. When loading rate R . is less than R . c, the flexural strength of Al2O3 increases with increasing loading rate and it drops sharply when loading rate is higher than R . c. The sensitivity of flexural strength to the loading rate decreases with elevating temperatures.展开更多

It is found that the strength of nanocrystalline Cu increases as grain size increases regardless of loading condition. Both the strength and ductility of nanocrystalline Cu increase with strain rate except that there is no monotonic relation between the strength and strain rate for specimens under uni- axial strain loading. Moreover, the strength and ductility of specimens under uniaxial strain loading are lower than those under uniaxial stress loading. The nucleation of voids at grain boundaries and their subsequent growth characterize the failure of specimens under uniaxial strain loading, while grain boundary sliding and necking dominate the failure of specimens under uniaxial stress loading. The rate dependent strength is mainly caused by the dynamic wave effect that limits dislocation motion, while combined twinning and slipping mechanism makes the material more ductile at higher strain rates.展开更多

The deformation was carried out at an ultra-high strain rate. OM analysis shows that the initial grains of the electroformed copper liner are finer than those of the spin-formed copper liners. Meanwhile, EBSP analysis reveals that the fiber texture exists in the electroformed copper liners, whereas there is no texture observed in the spin-formed copper liners before deformation. Having undergone high-strain-rate deformation the grains in the recovered slugs, which are transformed from both the electroformed and spin-formed copper liners, all become small. TEM observations of the above two kinds of post-deformed specimens show the existence of cellular structures characterized by tangled dislocations and subgrain boundaries consisting of dislocation arrays. These experimental results indicate that dynamic recovery and recrystallization play an important role in the high-strain-rate deformation process.展开更多

文摘The true stress-sWain relationships of Ti-5A1-2Sn-2Zr-4Mo-4Cr(TC17) alloy with a wide range of strain rates were investigated by tmiaxial quasi-static and dynamic compression tests, respectively. The Johnson-Cook constitutive model provided satisfied prediction of the plastic flow stress for TC17 alloy.

文摘Flow behavior and microstructure of a homogenized ZK60 magnesium alloy were investigated during compression in the temperature range of 250-400 ℃ and the strain rate range of 0.1-50 s^-1. Firstly, twins with high dislocation subdivided the initial grain, then dislocation arrays subdivided the twins into subgrains, and after that DRX took place with a further increase of strain.

文摘To explore the effect of strain rate ε on the high temperature deformation characteristics of ultrafine-grained materials, the deformation and damage features as well as microstructures of ECAP-treated pure Al at different temperatures T and strain ratesε were systematically studied through compression tests and microscopic observations. The increase in ε inhibits the SG growth, thus leading to the increases both in yield strength and flow stress at high temperatures.

文摘The seed setting rates of total 198 rice cultivars (lines) at heading and flowering stage were investigated under the condition of extreme natural high tem- perature in 2013 so as to analyze the effect of extreme natural high temperature on seed setting rate of different rice cultivar (line). The screened rice cultivars (lines) showed higher heat tolerances.

文摘A transient multi-physics model incorporated with an electromagneto-thermomechanical coupling is developed to capture the multi-field behavior of a single-pancake(SP)insert no-insulation(NI)coil in a hybrid magnet during the charging and discharging processes. The coupled problem is resolved by means of the finite element method(FEM)for the magneto-thermo-elastic behaviors and the Runge-Kutta method for the transient responses of the electrical circuits of the hybrid superconducting magnet system. The results reveal that the transient multi-physics responses of the insert NI coil primarily depend on the charging/discharging procedure of the hybrid magnet. Moreover,a reverse azimuthal current and a compressive hoop stress are induced in the insert NI coil during the charging process, while a forward azimuthal current and a tensile hoop stress are observed during the discharging process. The induced voltages in the insert NI coil can drive the currents flowing across the radial turns where the contact resistance exists. Therefore,it brings forth significant Joule heat, causing a temperature rise and a uniform distribution of this heat in the coil turns.Accordingly,a thermally/mechanically unstable or quenching event may be encountered when a high operating current is flowing in the insert NI coil.It is numerically predicted that a quick charging will induce a compressive hoop stress which may bring a risk of buckling instability in the coil, while a discharging will not.The simulations provide an insight of hybrid superconducting magnets under transient start-up or shutdown phases which are inevitably encountered in practical applications.

文摘The dynamic tensile properties and microstructural evolution of an extruded EW75 magnesium alloy deformed at ambient temperature and different high strain rates(from 1000 to 3000 s^(-1))along extrusion direction(ED)were investigated by Split Hopkinson Tension Bar(SHTB).The corresponding deformation mechanisms, texture evolution and microstructure changes were analyzed by optical microscope(OM),electron backscatter diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).The results show that the extruded EW75 magnesium alloy along ED exhibits a conventional positive strain rate sensitivity that the dynamic flow stresses increase with in creasing strain rate.Texture measurements show that after dynamic tension, the initial weak texture of extruded EW75 magnesium alloy tansforms to a relatively strong<10-10>//ED texture with increasing strain rates. The microstructural analysis demonstrates that dislocation motion are main deformatin mode to accommodate dynamic tensile deformation at high strain rates. In addition, the interactions of dislocation-dislocation and dislocation-second phase lead to the in crease of flow stress and strain hardening with increasing strain rate.
文摘The Al−Mg alloy with high Mg addition(Al−9.2Mg−0.8Mn−0.2Zr-0.15Ti,in wt.%)was subjected to different passes(1,2 and 4)of high strain rate rolling(HSRR),with the total thickness reduction of 72%,the rolling temperature of 400℃and strain rate of 8.6 s^(−1).The microstructure evolution was studied by optical microscope(OM),scanning electron microscope(SEM),electron backscattered diffraction(EBSD)and transmission electron microscope(TEM).The alloy that undergoes 2 passes of HSRR exhibits an obvious bimodal grain structure,in which the average grain sizes of the fine dynamic recrystallization(DRX)grains and the coarse non-DRX regions are 6.4 and 47.7mm,respectively.The high strength((507±9)MPa)and the large ductility((24.9±1.3)%)are obtained in the alloy containing the bimodal grain distribution. The discontinuous dynamic recrystallization(DDRX)mechanism is the prominent grain refinement mechanism in the alloy subjected to 2 passes of HSRR.

文摘The castings defects are affected by the melting volume change rate of material. The presented instrument and method solve the problems of complicated structure and procedures, and large measuring errors for the samples with high vapor pressure by existing installations.

文摘The experimental tests for limestone specimens at 700 °C in uniaxial compression were carried out to inves- tigate the mechanical effects of loading rates on limestone by using a MTS810 rock mechanics servo- controlled testing system considering the loading rate as a variable. The mechanical properties of limestone such as the stress-strain curve, variable characteristics of peak strength and the modulus of elasticity of limestone were studied under the strain rates ranging from 1.1 10à5 to 1.1 10à1 sà1. (1) Sharp decreases were shown for the peak strength and elastic modulus of limestone from 1.1 10à5 to 1.1 10à4 sà1 at 700 °C as well as a downward trend was shown from 1.1 10à4 to 1.1 10à1 sà1 with the rise of the strain rate. (2) The peak strain increased from 1.1 10à5 to 1.1 10à4 sà1, however, there was no obvious changes shown for the peak strain of limestone from 1.1 10à4 to 1.1 10à1 sà1. These results can provide valuable references for the rock blasting effect and design of mine.
文摘Tensile properties of a two phase γ Ti 47Al 1.5Cr 0.5Mn 2.8Nb alloy with a duplex microstructure were tested under strain rates ranging from 5×10 -5 to 5×10 -3 s -1 at temperatures from 1 123 K to 1 273 K. It was found that there exists approximately linear relationship between the flow stresses and the logarithm of the strain rate at different temperatures. The strain rate dependence was analyzed by thermal activation theory, and dislocation climbing has been identified as the rate controlling mechanism.
文摘A self designed Split Hopkinson tensile bar setup with a rotating disk was used to investigate room temperature tensile properties of a γ TiAl alloy in duplex (DP) and fully lamellar (FL) microstructural forms under the dynamic strain rates between 70 and 800 s -1 . It was found that for both forms the alloy is brittle at these strain rates, exhibiting near zero ductility. The σ b at dynamic strain rate is greater than that at the static strain rate of 5×10 -1 s -1 , and the σ b of the DP material is higher than that of the FL material. Fractography analysis indicated that both materials at dynamic strain rates fracture in a mixed mode of predominant transgranular cleavage and minor intergranular cracking, which is similar to that at the static strain rate. The room temperature brittleness of the alloy is not environmentally related. : A self designed Split Hopkinson tensile bar setup with a rotating disk was used to investigate room temperature tensile properties of a γ TiAl alloy in duplex (DP) and fully lamellar (FL) microstructural forms under the dynamic strain rates between 70 and 800 s -1 . 文摘In this paper, the influence of loading rate and specimen height on flexural strength of Al2O3 at high temperatures has been studied by three-point bending method. The experimental results show that the flexural strength of Al2O3 decreases with increasing specimen height at room temperature, and it tends to stability when height increases to a certain degree (h=5mm in this paper), while the flexural strength of Al2O3 variates unapparently at high temperature with increasing height. There is a critical loading rate R . c. When loading rate R . is less than R . c, the flexural strength of Al2O3 increases with increasing loading rate and it drops sharply when loading rate is higher than R . c. The sensitivity of flexural strength to the loading rate decreases with elevating temperatures.

文摘Molecular dynamics simulations of nanocrystalline Cu with average grain sizes of 3.1 nm, 6.2 nm, 12.4 nm and 18.6 nm under uniaxial strain and stress tension at strain rates of 10^8 s^-1, 10^9 S^-1 and 10^10 s^-1 are performed to study the combined grain size, strain rate and loading condition effects on mechanical properties. The rate dependent strength is mainly caused by the dynamic wave effect that limits dislocation motion, while combined twinning and slipping mechanism makes the material more ductile at higher strain rates.

文摘The as-formed and post-deformed microstructures in both electroformed and spin-formed copper liners of shaped charge were studied by optical microscopy(OM), electron backscattering Kikuchi patterns(EBSP) technique and transmission electron microscopy(TEM). These experimental results indicate that dynamic recovery and recrystallization play an important role in the high-strain-rate deformation process.
