Sintered Sm(Coba1FexCu0.1Zr0.03)7.5 (x=0.09-0.21) permanent magnets with higher Fe content were found to have higher remanence Br and maximum energy product (BH)max at room temperature. Br and (BH)max reached ... Sintered Sm(Coba1FexCu0.1Zr0.03)7.5 (x=0.09-0.21) permanent magnets with higher Fe content were found to have higher remanence Br and maximum energy product (BH)max at room temperature. Br and (BH)max reached maximum of 0.96 T and 176.7 kJ/m^3, respectively at room temperature when the Fe content x reached 0.21. However, the intrinsic coercivity Hci at room temperature increased gradually when the Fe content x increased from 0.09 to 0.15, but when x further increased to 0.21, Hcidecreased. Hci attained its peak value of 2276.6 kA/m with Fe content x=0.15 at room temperature. For magnets with x=0.15, Br, (BH)max and Hc1 reached 0.67 T, 81.2 kJ/m^3 and 509.4 kA/m at 500 ℃, respectively, showing good high temperature stability, which could be used in high temperature applications. 展开更多

New polyoxometalate α-K 12H 3[Y(BW 11O 39) 2]·25H 2O was synthesized and treated by high temperature gaseous rare earth permeation to prepare tungsten bronze K 0.475WO 3. XRD, TG-DTA, XPS, 183W-NMR,CV and AC impedance spectra were used to characterize the resulting material. The results of XPS indicate that La has permeated and diffused into the body of the sample and exists in the forms of binding with other components. The crystal structure parameters of K 0.475WO 3 were obtained by the analysis of XRD, which shows tetragonal crystal system with lattice parameters: a=12 28 nm, c=3.833 nm, V=578.48 nm -3. The conductivities calculated from the results of AC impedance spectra of the material increase with the increasing of temperature, which shows a semiconductor character. 展开更多

Trace rare earth elements were used in order to strengthen the Sn60 Pb40 solder alloy. The experimental results show that the high temperature tensile strength of near eutectic Sn60 Pb40 solder alloy is increased by about 70% after adding trace rare earth elements. Analysis shows that the high affinity between rare earth element and Sn leads to the variation of contact angle at the three phase junction of S/L interface during eutectic growth and further changes the Pb concentration at the S/L interface needed for coupled eutectic growth. Thus the eutectic microstructure can directly grow upon the primary Pb rich phase and the formation of coarse Sn rich halo is suppressed. Therefore homogeneous metallurgical microstructure can be obtained. 展开更多

The layer structure of low-carbon steel containing RE by high-temperature (T>1200 ℃) carburizing of liquid cast-iron was studied and the diffusion activation energy of carbon was calculated by metallographic microscpe, chemical analysis etc. The result shows that the technology of carburizing in liquid cast-iron can expedite caburization distinctly and changes the carburizing layer structure. The carburizing rate is 60~80 times of that of the traditional technology, and there is about 43% decrease in the activation energy compared with gas-carburization. In outer structure layer, cementite is formed simultaneously both on the crystal boundary reticularly and inside the crystal grains stripedly. In inner carburizing layer, there is undissolved blocky ferrite in reticular cementite. Besides, rare earth element can expedite carburization process. 展开更多

The results show that by adding a certain amount of RE in steel 60CrMnMo, its serviceable life during low frequency fatigue test at high temperature can be improved.The number of cycles for fracture was increased by 18.5%~28.8%. The number of large inclusion particleswas reduced and the composition of inclusions and their shape were changed as well. The strip distances on fatigue fracture surface were decreased. A reciprocating magnetic refrigerator was developed based on the active magnetic regeneration technology. Rare earth metal Gd and intermetallic compound LaFe11.2Co0.7Si1.1 were used as the magnetic operating materials in the machine. The particles of the magnetic operating materials, with diameter of 0.5-2 mm and total mass of 950 g, were mounted in the cooling bed. A magnetic field was assembled using NdFeB rare earth permanent magnets. It had the magnetic field space of Φ 34×200 and the magnetic induction of 1.5 T. The water at pH=10 is used as a heat transfer fluid. When the ambient temperature is 296 K, a temperature span of 18 K was achieved after operation of 45 min at a frequency of 0.178 Hz. The temperature span and the output power increase significantly with the increasing velocity of heat transfer. 展开更多

The La-Zn substituted SrM-type ferrites with the composition of Sr1-xLaxFe12-xZnxO19 (x=0-0.4) were prepared by self-propagating high-temperature synthesis (SHS). The single SrM phase was detected by XRD in the as-received samples by controlling the Fe contents in the reagents. The substitution of La^3+and Zn^2+ obviously increased the magnetic properties of the as-prepared samples. The maximum improvements of Br, Hcb and (BH)m were 14.4%, 15.3% and 30.7%, respectively compared with that of the samples without La-Zn substitution. Microstructure observation by SEM showed that the SHS method benefited forming the better particle features and achieving the higher Hcj in comparison with the traditional firing method. 展开更多

The powder X-ray diffraction patterns of LaFell.sSil.5 compounds annealed at different high temperatures from 1323 K (5 h) to 1623 K (2 h) show that a large amount of 1:13 phase begins to form in LaFell.sSiL5 compound annealed at 1423 K (5 h). In the temperature range from 1423 to 1523 K, ^-Fe and LaFeSi phases rapidly decrease to form 1:13 phase. LaFeSi phase is rarely observed, and the most amount of 1:13 phase is obtained in the compound annealed at 1523 K (5 h). With the annealing temperature increasing to 1573 and 1623 K, LaFeSi is detected again in the LaFell.sSil.s compound. According to the results of annealing at different high-temperatures, the Lal-xCexFelt.sSit.5 compounds are annealed at high temperatures of 1373 K (2 h) + 1523 K (5 h). The main phase is NaZn13-type phase, and the impurity is a small amount of et-Fe in Lal-xCexFexx.sSil.5 compounds with 0 〈 x 〈 0.35, and there is a large amount of CeaFe17 phase in Lao.sCeo.sFela.sSil.s. It indicates that the substitution of cerium atoms for La in LaFelLsSil.5 compounds has limit. At the same time, the substitution of Ce for La has large effect on magnetocaloric properties. With increasing Ce content from x = 0 to x = 0.35, the Curie temperature decreases linearly from 196 to 168 K, the magnetic entropy change increases from 16.5 to 57.3 J-kg-kK-1 in a low magnetic field change of 0-2 T, and the thermal hysteresis also increases from 3 K to 8 K. 展开更多

The structure and disorder-order transformation of NdxFe60.5-x Pt39.5(x = 0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5) alloys were investigated in situ by high temperature X-ray diffraction. The results show that the lattice parameter a of disordered γ phase (FCC, Al structure type) and the lattice parameter ratio c/a of ordered γ1 phase (FCT, L10 structure type) increase linearly with increasing Nd concentration, whereas the c/a ratio decreases with increasing temperature. The transition temperature from ordered FCT to disordered FCC decreases with increasing Nd concentration, but for alloys quenched rapidly from γ phase region into ice-water it increases with increasing Nd. 展开更多

Based on water-gas shift reaction mechanism and perovskite compounds characteristics, La_(1- x )Ce_ x FeO_3 (.K) perovskite were designed and prepared as shift catalysts. DTA and XRD results reveal that La_(1- x )Ce_ x FeO_3 can be formed at 730~760 ℃ by mechanic-mix thermal decomposition method. Activity and heat-resisting tests show that La_(1- x )Ce_ x FeO_3 ((.K)) possess high thermal stability if x is less than or equals to 0.5. But when x is greater than 0.5, La_(1- x )Ce_ x FeO_3 (.K) will be converted into ceria and magnetite partially or completely under shift reaction conditions. In the case of x =0.5, the conversion of CO is about 68% at 530 ℃. Potassium can greatly improve the low temperature activity, but slightly reduces the high temperature activity, and has little impact on the thermal stability. La_(0.5)Ce_(0.5)FeO_3 (.K) is a promising chromium-free high temperature shift catalyst. 展开更多

The oxidation behavior of NiAl-30.75Cr-3Mo-0.25Ho alloy from 1300 to 1500 K in air atmosphere was investigated. The results reveal that oxidation resistance of the alloy is improved by the addition of Ho. At 1500 K, the oxidation kinetic curve obeys the parabolic law (n ≈0.5), whereas the oxidation kinetic curve of the tested alloy follows the cubic relations (n ≈ 0.3 - 0.4) from 1300 to 1450 K. An activation energy of about 261 kJ·mol^-1 was determined for the tested alloy. It is found that a continuous and compact Al2O3 layer has formed on the surface of NiAl-30.75Cr-3Mo-0.25Ho alloy after oxidation 100 h at various tested temperatures. A rich-Ho solution formed on the boundaries of Cr(Mo) phase. Doped little amount of Ho in NiAl-31Cr-3Mo alloy promotes the transformation from θ-Al2O3 phase to α-A1203 phase, and decreases the size of Al2O3 and the crack forming in the oxidation scale prolongs the spalling time of the film at high temperature. The volatilizing oxides of Cr, Mo and the reactive element effects (REEs) make the mass gain lower than that of pure NiAl. 展开更多

In this paper, the carburizing kinetics of low-carbon steel at high-temperature and short-term in liquid cast-iron were studied by metallographic microscope, chemical analysis and so on, and the microstructure of carburized layer was also analyzed. The results show that the carburizing rate of low-carbon steel at high-temperature and short-term is so fast, and the microstructure of carburized layer possess higher carbon content, and cementite, pearlite and ferrite exist in carburized layer structure simultaneously. Based on test results and CeO2characters that Ce ion can vary between Ce4+ and Ce3+ under oxygen-rich and oxygen-poor environment, it is concluded that CeO2 coating acts as a barrier to prevent oxygen inner diffusion and the partial oxygen pressure of CeO2 coating-substrate interface is limited.
