The 975 nm multimode diode lasers with high-order surface Bragg diffraction gratings have been simulated and calcu-lated using the 2D finite difference time domain(FDTD)algorithm and the scattering matrix method(SMM).The periods and etch depth of the grating parameters have been optimized.A board area laser diode(BA-LD)with high-order diffraction grat-ings has been designed and fabricated.At output powers up to 10.5 W,the measured spectral width of full width at half maxi-mum(FWHM)is less than 0.5 nm.The results demonstrate that the designed high-order surface gratings can effectively nar-row the spectral width of multimode semiconductor lasers at high output power. 展开更多

The nonlinear Landau-Zener tunneling and nonlinear Rabi oscillations of Bose-Einstein condensate (BEC) with higher-order atomic interaction between the Bloch bands in an accelerating optical lattice are discussed.Within the two-level model,the tunneling probability of BEC with higher-order atomic interaction between Bloch bands is obtained.We finds that the tunneling rate is closely related to the higher-order atomic interaction.Furthermore,the nonlinear Rabi oscillations of BEC with higher-order atomic interaction between the bands are discussed by imposing a periodic modulation on the level bias.Analytical expressions of the critical higher-order atomic interaction for suppressing/enhancing the Rabi oscillations are obtained.It is shown that the critical value strongly depends on the modulation parameters (i.e.,the modulation amplitude and frequency) and the strength of periodic potential. 展开更多

Highly ordered and uniformly porous structure of conductive foams is a vital issue for various functional purposes such as piezoresistive sensing and electromagnetic interference(EMI) shielding. With the aids of Kevlar polyanionic chains, thermoplastic polyurethane(TPU) foams reinforced by aramid nanofibers(ANF) with adjustable pore-size distribution were successfully obtained via a nonsolvent-induced phase separation. In this regard, the most outstanding result is the in situ formation of ANF in TPU foams after protonation of Kevlar polyanion during the NIPS process. Furthermore, in situ growth of copper nanoparticles(Cu NPs) on TPU/ANF foams was performed according to the electroless deposition by using the tiny amount of pre-blended Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene as reducing agents. Particularly, the existence of Cu NPs layers significantly promoted the storage modulus in 2,932% increments, and the well-designed TPU/ANF/Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene(PAM-Cu) composite foams showed distinguished compressive cycle stability. Taking virtues of the highly ordered and elastic porous architectures, the PAM-Cu foams were utilized as piezoresistive sensor exhibiting board compressive interval of 0–344.5 kPa(50% strain) with good sensitivity at 0.46 kPa^(-1). Meanwhile,the PAM-Cu foams displayed remarkable EMI shielding effectiveness at 79.09 dB in X band. This work provides an ideal strategy to fabricate highly ordered TPU foams with outstanding elastic recovery and excellent EMI shielding performance, which can be used as a promising candidate in integration of satisfactory piezoresistive sensor and EMI shielding applications for human–machine interfaces. 展开更多

A high order finite difference numerical scheme is developed for the shallow water equations on curvilinear meshes based on an alternative flux formulation of the weighted essentially non-oscillatory(WENO)scheme.The exact C-property is investigated,and comparison with the standard finite difference WENO scheme is made.Theoretical derivation and numerical results show that the proposed finite difference WENO scheme can maintain the exact C-property on both stationarily and dynamically generalized coordinate systems.The Harten-Lax-van Leer type flux is developed on general curvilinear meshes in two dimensions and verified on a number of benchmark problems,indicating smaller errors compared with the Lax-Friedrichs solver.In addition,we propose a positivity-preserving limiter on stationary meshes such that the scheme can preserve the non-negativity of the water height without loss of mass conservation. 展开更多

Magnesium alloys with a long-period stacking ordered(LPSO)structure usually possess excellent static strength,but their fatigue behaviors are poorly understood.This work presents the effect of the LPSO structure on the crack behaviors of Mg alloys in a very high cycle fatigue(VHCF)regime.The LPSO lamellas lead to a facet-like cracking process along the basal planes at the crack initiation site and strongly prohibit the early crack propagation by deflecting the growth direction.The stress intensity factor at the periphery of the faceted area is much higher than the conventional LPSO-free Mg alloys,contributing higher fatigue crack propagation threshold of LPSO-containing Mg alloys.Microstructure observation at the facets reveals a layer of ultrafine grains at the fracture surface due to the cyclic contact of the crack surface,which supports the numerous cyclic pressing model describing the VHCF crack initiation behavior. 展开更多

The development of high-sulfur-loading Li-S batteries is a key prerequisite for their commercial applications.This requires to surmount the huge polarization,severe polysulfide shuttling and drastic volume change caused by electrode thickening.High-strength polar binders are ideal for constructing robust and long-life high-loading sulfur cathodes but show very weak interfacial interaction with non-polar sulfur materials.To address this issue,this work devises a highly integrated sulfur@polydopamine/highstrength binder composite cathodes,targeting long-lasting and high-sulfur-loading Li-S batteries.The super-adhesion polydopamine(PD)can form a uniform nano-coating over the graphene/sulfur(G-S)surface and provide strong affinity to the cross-linked polyacrylamide(c-PAM)binder,thus tightly integrating sulfur with the binder network and greatly boosting the overall mechanical strength/conductivity of the electrode.Moreover,the PD coating and c-PAM binder rich in polar groups can form two effective blockades against the effusion of soluble polysulfides.As such,the 4.5 mg cm−2 sulfur-loaded G-S@PD-c-PAM cathode achieves a capacity of 480 mAh g−1 after 300 cycles at 1 C,while maintaining a capacity of 396 mAh g−1 after 50 cycles at 0.2 C when the sulfur loading rises to 9.1 mg cm−2.This work provides a system-wide concept for constructing high-loading sulfur cathodes through integrated structural design. 展开更多

Driven by safety issues,environmental concerns,and high costs,rechargeable aqueous zinc-ion batteries(ZIBs)have received increasing attention in recent years owing to their unique advantages.However,the sluggish kinetics of divalent charge Zn^(2+)in the cathode materials caused by the strong electrostatic interaction and their unsatisfactory cycle life hinder the development of ZIBs.Herein,organic cations and Zn^(2+)ions co-pre-inserted vanadium oxide([N(CH_(3))_(4)]_(0.77),Zn_(0.23))V_(8)O_(20)·3.8H_(2)O are reported as the cathode for ultra-stable aqueous ZIBs,in which the weaker electrostatic interactions between Zn^(2+)and organic ion-pinned vanadium oxide can induce the high reversibility of Zn^(2+)insertion and extraction,thereby improving the cycle life.It is demonstrated that([N(CH_(3))_(4)]_(0.77),Zn_(0.23))V_(8)O_(20)·3.8H_(2)O cathodes deliver a discharge capacity of 181 mA h g^(-1)at8 A g^(-1)and ultra-long life span(99.5%capacity retention after 2000 cycles).A reversible Zn^(2+)/H^(+)ions(de)intercalation storage process and pseudocapacitive charge storage are characterized.The weaker interactions between organic ion and Zn^(2+)open a novel avenue for the design of highly reversible cathode materials with long-term cycling stability. 展开更多

Using the higher-order statistical analyses’ methods (higher-order moments andhi-tri correlation or hi-tri spectrum), its physical properties can be described. The question addressed in thispaper is that or the usefulness or higher-order statiscal analysis for Identification of the wave-particles interaction in space plasmas. The signals handled are from the ARCAD-3 ISOPROBE experiment on ELF frequency range, then strong electrostatic turbulence and electron density irregularities. Second and third order statistical analyses are applied: first, on time series associated with each type of measurement, then, on the twotype. All results are presented for one typical case. Correlation runctions estimated over the correspondingtime Intervals point out the existence or a non-linear interaction between these fluctuations and electrostaticfiled. 展开更多

Introducing the nth-Order Features Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems (nth-FASAM-N): I. Mathematical Framework

This work presents the “n<sup>th</sup>-Order Feature Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems” (abbreviated as “n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N”), which will be shown to be the most efficient methodology for computing exact expressions of sensitivities, of any order, of model responses with respect to features of model parameters and, subsequently, with respect to the model’s uncertain parameters, boundaries, and internal interfaces. The unparalleled efficiency and accuracy of the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N methodology stems from the maximal reduction of the number of adjoint computations (which are considered to be “large-scale” computations) for computing high-order sensitivities. When applying the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N methodology to compute the second- and higher-order sensitivities, the number of large-scale computations is proportional to the number of “model features” as opposed to being proportional to the number of model parameters (which are considerably more than the number of features).When a model has no “feature” functions of parameters, but only comprises primary parameters, the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N methodology becomes identical to the extant n<sup>th</sup> CASAM-N (“n<sup>th</sup>-Order Comprehensive Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems”) methodology. Both the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N and the n<sup>th</sup>-CASAM-N methodologies are formulated in linearly increasing higher-dimensional Hilbert spaces as opposed to exponentially increasing parameter-dimensional spaces thus overcoming the curse of dimensionality in sensitivity analysis of nonlinear systems. Both the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N and the n<sup>th</sup>-CASAM-N are incomparably more efficient and more accurate than any other methods (statistical, finite differences, etc.) for computing exact expressions of response sensitivities of any order with respect to the model’s features and/or primary uncertain parameters, boundaries, and internal interfaces. 展开更多

This work highlights the unparalleled efficiency of the “n<sup>th</sup>-Order Function/ Feature Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems” (n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N) by considering the well-known Nordheim-Fuchs reactor dynamics/safety model. This model describes a short-time self-limiting power excursion in a nuclear reactor system having a negative temperature coefficient in which a large amount of reactivity is suddenly inserted, either intentionally or by accident. This nonlinear paradigm model is sufficiently complex to model realistically self-limiting power excursions for short times yet admits closed-form exact expressions for the time-dependent neutron flux, temperature distribution and energy released during the transient power burst. The n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N methodology is compared to the extant “n<sup>th</sup>-Order Comprehensive Adjoint Sensitivity Analysis Methodology for Nonlinear Systems” (n<sup>th</sup>-CASAM-N) showing that: (i) the 1<sup>st</sup>-FASAM-N and the 1<sup>st</sup>-CASAM-N methodologies are equally efficient for computing the first-order sensitivities;each methodology requires a single large-scale computation for solving the “First-Level Adjoint Sensitivity System” (1<sup>st</sup>-LASS);(ii) the 2<sup>nd</sup>-FASAM-N methodology is considerably more efficient than the 2<sup>nd</sup>-CASAM-N methodology for computing the second-order sensitivities since the number of feature-functions is much smaller than the number of primary parameters;specifically for the Nordheim-Fuchs model, the 2<sup>nd</sup>-FASAM-N methodology requires 2 large-scale computations to obtain all of the exact expressions of the 28 distinct second-order response sensitivities with respect to the model parameters while the 2<sup>nd</sup>-CASAM-N methodology requires 7 large-scale computations for obtaining these 28 second-order sensitivities;(iii) the 3<sup>rd</sup>-FASAM-N methodology is even more efficient than the 3<sup>rd</sup>-CASAM-N methodology: only 2 large-scale computations are needed to obtain the exact expressions of the 84 distinct third-order response sensitivities with respect to the Nordheim-Fuchs model’s parameters when applying the 3<sup>rd</sup>-FASAM-N methodology, while the application of the 3<sup>rd</sup>-CASAM-N methodology requires at least 22 large-scale computations for computing the same 84 distinct third-order sensitivities. Together, the n<sup>th</sup>-FASAM-N and the n<sup>th</sup>-CASAM-N methodologies are the most practical methodologies for computing response sensitivities of any order comprehensively and accurately, overcoming the curse of dimensionality in sensitivity analysis. 展开更多

AIM: To compare the difference and agreement of KR-1W and i Trace for measurement of high order aberrations.·METHODS: KR-1W and i Trace were respectively used in a group of healthy people(40 volunteers, 32 eyes) to measure the high order aberration(HOA) of corneal,internal and total ocular. The clinical difference and agreement of two instruments were respectively evaluated by paired-samples t-test and Bland-Altman analysis.·RESULTS: The paired-samples t-test showed that the corneal HOA measured by the two instruments had no statistical differences(P >0.05); but the internal and total ocular HOA had significant statistical differences(P <0.05), and the mean results measured by i Trace were higher than that of KR-1W. However, Bland-Altman analysis revealed that the HOA of corneal and internal were all in 95% limits of agreement; and just one point of total ocular HOA was beyond the 95% limits of agreement.·CONCLUSION: KR-1W and i Trace were consistent well in the measurement of corneal, internal and total ocular HOA, especially for the cornea. 展开更多

A high order splitting scheme for the advection diffusion equation of pollutants is proposed in this paper. The multidimensional advection diffusion equation is splitted into several one dimensional equations that are solved by the scheme. Only three spatial grid points are needed in each direction and the scheme has fourth order spatial accuracy. Several typically pure advection and advection diffusion problems are simulated. Numerical results show that the accuracy of the scheme is much higher than that of the classical schemes and the scheme can be efficiently solved with little programming effort. 展开更多
