Recently a study is being conducted to develop an interface through face expression, movement of the body and eye movements, and further more active attempts to use electrical signals(brainwave, electrocardiogram, electromyogram) measured from the human body is also actively being progressed. In addition, the development and the usage of mobile devices and smart devices are promoting these research activities even more. The brainwave is measured by electrical activities between nerve cells in the cerebral cortex using scalp electrodes. The brainwave is mainly used for diagnosis and treatment of diseases such as epilepsy, encephalitis, brain tumors and brain damage. As a result, the brainwave measurement methods and analytical methods were developed. Interface using the brainwave will not go through language or body behavior which is the result of the information processed by the brain but will pass directly to the system providing a brain-computer interface (BCI). This is possible because a variety of the brainwave appears depending on the human’s physical and mental state. Using the brainwave with the intelligent brain-computer interface or combining it with mobile devices and smart devices, regardless of space constraints, the brainwave measurement should be possible.[4,7] In this study, in order to measure the brainwave without spatial constraint, 16 channel compact brainwave measurements system using a high-speed wireless communications were designed. It was designed with a 16 channel to classify the various brainwave patterns that appear and for estimating the location of the nerve cells that triggered the brainwave. And in order to transmit the brainwave data within the channel without loss, a high-speed wireless communication must be possible that can enable a high-speed wireless transmission more sufficient than the Bluetooth, therefore, 802.11 compliant Wi-Fi communication methods were used to transfer the data to the PC. In addition, by using an analog front-end IC having a single-chip configuration with real-time digital filters, the miniaturization of the system was implemented and in order to verify the system Eye-blocking was used to observe the changes in the EEG signal.展开更多

To feed those lines and to have an effective digital data transmission, a power electronic converter referred as Modified Negative Luo Converter (MNLC) is proposed in this paper. MNLC is a high gain converter in which the output voltage increases in geometric progression. This paper portrays a novel concept of a 50 Hz pulse data transmission through RLCG (Resistance-inductance-capacitance with a shunt conductance) transmission line using MNLC. Signal frequency of 50 Hz to be transmitted is anded with a high frequency pulse that charges and discharges MNLC and produces the boosted negative output voltage. The boosted output is again transmitted through the RLCG transmission line from which 50 Hz data pulse is retrieved at the output of the transmission line by comparing with a comparator signal. This sort of MNLC aided data transmission not only introduces less loss in its transmitted data but also overcomes various health hazards of conventional radio frequency (RF) communication. This technique also proves that any data bit stream can be transmitted and retrieved using the proposed high gain DC-DC converter. The simulation model of the proposed system is implemented in MATLAB for various switching frequencies with its prototype of the converter developed and the results are verified.展开更多

Current approaches include transmitting all collected data or transmitting low resolution data to enable ground controller review and selection of data for transmission. Model-based data transmission (MBDT) seeks to increase the amount of knowledge conveyed per unit of data transmitted by comparing high-resolution data collected in situ to a pre-existing (or potentially co-transmitted) model. This paper describes the application of MBDT to gravitational data and characterizes its utility and performance. This is performed by applying the MBDT technique to a selection of gravitational data previously collected for the Earth and comparing the transmission requirements to the level required for raw data transmis-sion and non-application-aware compression. Levels of transmission reduction up to 31.8% (without the use maximum-error-thresholding) and up to 97.17% (with the use of maximum-error-thresholding) resulted. However, there are three shortcomings in the linear tool path, such as discontinuities of tangency and curvature, huge number of line segments, and short lengths of line segments. These disadvantages hinder the development of high speed machining. To smooth the linear tool path and improve machining efficiency of short line segments, this paper presents an optimal feed interpolator based on G^2 continuous Bézier curves for the linear tool path. First, the areas suitable for fitting are screened out based on the geometric characteristics of continuous short segments (CSSs). CSSs in every area are compressed and fitted into a G^2 Continuous Bézier curve by using the least square method. Then a series of cubic Bézier curves are generated. However, the junction between adjacent Bézier curves is only G^0 continuous. By adjusting the control points and inserting Bézier transition curves between adjacent Bézier curves, the G^2 continuous tool path is constructed. The fitting error is estimated by the second-order Taylor formula. Without iteration, the fitting algorithm can be implemented in real-time environment. Second, the optimal feed interpolator considering the comprehensive constraints (such as the chord error constraint, the maximum normal acceleration, servo capacity of each axis, etc.) is proposed. Simulation and experiment are conducted. The results shows that the proposed method can generate smooth path, decrease the amount of segments and reduce machining time for machining of linear tool path. The proposed research provides an effective method for high-speed machining of complex 2-D/3-D profiles described by short line segments.展开更多
