Taking the deposited energy of ion beams in TBCs as the source term in the thermal conduction equation, the distribution of temperature in TBCs was simulated. Then, based on the distribution, the evolution of thermal stress was calculated by the finite element method. The results show that tensile radial stress formed at the valley of TBC surfaces after irradiation by HIPIB. Therefore, if cracks happen, they must be at valleys instead of peaks. As for the stress waves, no matter whether through peak or valley position, tensile and compressive stresses are present alternately inside TBCs along the depth direction, and the strength of stress decreases with time.展开更多

The columnar grains in the TBCs disappear after the HIPIB irradiation at ion current densities of 100-200 A/cm^2 and the irradiated surface becomes smooth and densified after remelting and ablation due to the HIPIB irradiation. The thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer thickness of the irradiated TBCs is smaller than that of the original TBCs. After 15 cycles, the mass gains of the original TBCs and those irradiated by ion current densities of 100 and 200 A/cm^2 due to the oxidation are found to be 0.8-0.9, 0.6-0.7, and 0.3-0.4 mg/cm^2, respectively. The inward diffusion of oxygen through the irradiated TBCs is significantly impeded by the densified top layer formed due to irradiation, which is the main reason for the improved overall oxidation resistance of the irradiated TBCs.展开更多

The two-dimensional nonlinear thermal conduction equations, with the deposited energy in the target taken as source term, were derived and solved by finite differential method. As a result, the two-dimensional spatial and temporal evolution profiles of temperature were obtained for a titanium/aluminum double-layer target irradiated by a pulse of HIPIB. The effects of ion beam current density on the phase state of the target materials near the film and substrate interface were analyzed. Both titanium and aluminum were melted near the interface after a shot when the ion beam current density fell in the range of 100 A/cm2 to 200 A/cm2.展开更多

The surface morphology and the phase structure in the near surface region of original and treated samples were analyzed with scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). It is shown that the HIPIB irradiation can smooth the surface of the samples, and the preferred orientation is present in the surface layer of irradiated coupons. The influence of HIPIB irradiation on the oxidation behavior of 316L stainless steel at 700℃for up to 100 h was investigated. Electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) was used to study the distribution of elements in the oxidation products. It is found that the oxidation behavior of the irradiated coupons depends greatly on the ion current density of HIPIB. HIPIB irradiation with ion current density of 100 A/cm2 slightly reduces the oxidation rate with respect to the unirradiated coupon. The improvement of the oxidation resistance can be attributed to more oxide of Cr that forms on the surface of the irradiated coupons. In contrast, HIPIB irradiation with ion current density of 200 or 300 A/cm2 is proved to be detrimental, causing a higher oxidation rate.展开更多

Our definition of HIFU+LRT refers to treating primary tumour lesions with HIFU in place of reduced field boost irradiation to the prostate, while retaining four-field box irradiation to the pelvis in conventional-dose external beam radiotherapy (CRT). We performed a prospective, controlled and non-randomized study on 120 patients with advanced PCa after HT who received HIFU, CRT, HIFU+LRT and HT alone, respectively. CT/MR imaging showed the primary tumours and pelvic lymph node metastases visibly shrank or even disappeared after HIFU +LRT treatment. There were significant differences among four groups with regard to overall survival (OS) and disease-specific survival (DSS) curves (P=0.018 and 0.015). Further comparison between each pair of groups suggested that the long-term DSS of the H IFU + LRT group was higher than those of the other three groups, but there was no significant difference between the HIFU+LRT group and the CRT group. Multivariable Cox's proportional hazard model showed that both HIFU+LRT and CRT were independently associated with DSS (P=0.001 and 0.035) and had protective effects with regard to the risk of death. Compared with CRT, HIFU +LRT significantly decreased incidences of radiation-related late gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) toxicity grade ≥ II. In conclusion, long-term survival of patients with advanced PCa benefited from strengthening local control of primary tumour and reRional lymph node metastases after HT. As an alternative to CRT, HIFU+LRT showed Rood efficacy and better safety.展开更多

However, the magnetic field diffused into the driver has some influence on the plasma outflowing. In order to investigate the effect of changing this magnetic field on the outflowing of plasma from the driver, a circular ring(absorber) of high permeability iron has been introduced at the driver exit, which can reduce the magnetic field around it and improve plasma outflowing. With the application of the absorber, the electron density is increased by about 35%, and the extraction current measured from the extraction grid is increased from 1.02 A to 1.29 A. The results of the extraction experiment with cesium injection show that both the extraction grid(EG) current and H-current are increased when the absorber is introduced.展开更多

This clamping results from the lack of direct ion heating and high levels of turbulence-driven transport. Turbulent transport analysis shows that trapped electron mode and electron temperature gradient-driven modes are the most unstable modes in the core of ECR-heated H-mode plasmas. Nevertheless, recently it was found that the T_(i)/T_(e)ratio can increase further with the fraction of the neutral beam injection(NBI) power, which leads to a higher core ion temperature(Ti0). In NBI heating-dominant H-mode plasmas, the ion temperature gradient-driven modes become the most unstable modes.Furthermore, a strong and broad internal transport barrier(ITB) can form at the plasma core in high-power NBI-heated H-mode plasmas when the T_(i)/T_(e)ratio approaches ~1, which results in steep core Teand Tiprofiles, as well as a peaked neprofile. Power balance analysis shows a weaker Teprofile stiffness after the formation of ITBs in the core plasma region, where Ticlamping is broken, and the core Tican increase further above 2 keV, which is 80% higher than the value of Ticlamping in ECR-heated plasmas. This finding proposes a possible solution to the problem of Ticlamping on EAST and demonstrates an advanced operational regime with the formation of a strong and broad ITB for future fusion plasmas dominated by electron heating.展开更多

文摘Interaction between high-intensity pulsed ion beam (HIPIB) and a double-layer target with titanium film on top of aluminum substrate was simulated. Both titanium and aluminum were melted near the interface after a shot when the ion beam current density fell in the range of 100 A/cm2 to 200 A/cm2.

文摘316L stainless steel samples, as a widespread used material, were irradiated with HIPIB at the beam parameters of ion energy 300 keV, current density 100, 200 and 300 A/cm2, shot number 10 and pulse duration 75 ns. In contrast, HIPIB irradiation with ion current density of 200 or 300 A/cm2 is proved to be detrimental, causing a higher oxidation rate.
文摘The aim of this study was to investigate the feasibility and safety of high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) combined with (+) low-dose external beam radiotherapy (LRT) as supplemental therapy for advanced prostate cancer (PCa) following hormonal therapy (HT). As an alternative to CRT, HIFU+LRT showed Rood efficacy and better safety.

文摘An experimental measurement of the lifetime of 3d^(9) ^(2)D_(3/2) metastable level in Mo^(15+)is reported in this work. The Mo^(15+)ions are produced and trapped in an electron beam ion trap with a magnetic field of 0.65 T.The decay photons emitted from 3d^(9) ^(2)D_(3/2) level are subsequently recorded via a cooled photomultiplier tube.Through meticulous scrutiny of potential systematic uncertainties affecting the measurement outcomes,we have determined the lifetime of Mo^(15+)3d^(9)2D_(3/2)metastable level to be 2.83(22)ms.The experimental result provides a clear distinguishment from existing calculations based on various theoretical approaches.

文摘A magnetized cylindrical target composed of a gold tube filled with deuterium-tritium fuel plasma at low density is studied numerically in the present paper.A shock wave is produced when a heavy ion beam heats the gold along the direction of the magnetic field. The density peak of the shock wave increases with the increase in time and it propagates in the-r direction in the cylindrical tube.It seems that this wave is the supermagnetosonic wave.It is found that the Mach number M is between 6.96 and 19.19.The density peak of the shock wave increases as the intensity of the heavy ion beam increases.Furthermore, the density peak of the shock wave increases as the external magnetic field increases.

文摘The characteristics of the extracted ion current have a significant impact on the design and testing of ion source performance. In this paper,a 2D in space and 3D in velocity space particle in cell(2D3V PIC)method is utilized to simulate plasma motion and ion extraction characteristics under various initial plasma velocity distributions and extraction voltages in a Cartesian coordinate system. The plasma density is of the order of 10^(15)m^(-3)-10^(16)m^(-3)and the extraction voltage is of the order of 100 V-1000 V.The study investigates the impact of various extraction voltages on the velocity and density distributions of electrons and positive ions, and analyzes the influence of different initial plasma velocity distributions on the extraction current. The simulation results reveal that the main reason for the variation of extraction current is the spacecharge force formed by the relative aggregation of positive and negative net charges. This lays the foundation for a deeper understanding of extraction beam characteristics.

文摘A magnetic field produced by a current flowing through the plasma grid(PG) is one of the solutions to reduce the collisional loss of negative ions in a negative ion source, which reduces the electron temperature in front of the PG. The results of the extraction experiment with cesium injection show that both the extraction grid(EG) current and H-current are increased when the absorber is introduced.

文摘At the EAST tokamak, the ion temperature(T_(i)) is observed to be clamped around 1.25 keV in electron cyclotron resonance(ECR)-heated plasmas, even at core electron temperatures up to 10 keV(depending on the ECR heating power and the plasma density). This finding proposes a possible solution to the problem of Ticlamping on EAST and demonstrates an advanced operational regime with the formation of a strong and broad ITB for future fusion plasmas dominated by electron heating.
文摘Ion beam-induced luminescence(IBIL) experiments were performed to investigate the in situ luminescence of GaN/Al_(2)O_(3) at varying ion energies, which allowed for the measurement of defects at different depths within the material. The energies of H^(+)were set to 500 keV,640 keV and 2 MeV,the Bragg peaks of which correspond to the GaN film,GaN/Al_(2)O_(3) heterojunction and Al_(2)O_(3) substrate, respectively.A photoluminescence measurement at 250 K was also performed for comparison, during which only near band edge(NBE) and yellow band luminescence in the GaN film were observed. The evolution of the luminescence of the NBE and yellow band in the GaN film was discussed, and both exhibited a decrease with the fluence of H^(+).Additionally, the luminescence of F centers, induced by oxygen vacancies, and Cr^(3+),resulting from the ^(2)E →^(4)A_(2) radiative transition in Al_(2)O_(3),were measured using 2 MeV H^(+).The luminescence intensity of F centers increases gradually with the fluence of H^(+).The luminescence evolution of Cr^(3+)is consistent with a yellow band center, attributed to its weak intensity, and it is situated within the emission band of the yellow band in the GaN film. Our results show that IBIL measurement can effectively detect the luminescence behavior of multilayer films by adjusting the ion energy.Luminescence measurement can be excited by various techniques, but IBIL can satisfy in situ luminescence measurement, and multilayer structural materials of tens of micrometers can be measured through IBIL by adjusting the energy of the inducing ions. The evolution of defects at different layers with ion fluence can be obtained.
文摘In this editorial,I would like to comment on the article, recently published in the World Journal of Clinical Oncology. The article focuses on non-surgical treatments for locally recurrent rectal cancer, including the watch-and-wait(WW)strategy after total neoadjuvant therapy(TNT)and particle beam therapy. As treatment options for rectal cancer continue to evolve, the high complete response rate achieved with TNT has led to the development of a new non-surgical approach:WW.Chemoradiotherapy followed by consolidation chemotherapy,in particular, has a low rate of tumor growth and is a treatment aimed at achieving a cure without surgery. However, the risk of recurrence within two years is significant, necessitating careful follow-up.Establishing standardized follow-up methods that can be implemented by many physicians is essential.Carbon ion radiotherapy has demonstrated high local control with a low incidence of severe late toxicities, even after previous pelvic radiotherapy. While these new non-surgical curative treatments for rectal cancer require further investigation, future advancements in this field are anticipated.
