Analysis on the Translation Methods of the Reported Speech in German Academic Papers-Taking the Translation of“Die Internationalisierung der deutschen Hochschulen”as an Example

Reporting is essential in language use,including the re-expression of other people’s or self’s words,opinions,psychological activities,etc.Grasping the translation methods of reported speech in German academic papers is very important to improve the accuracy of academic paper translation.This study takes the translation of“Internationalization of German Universities”(Die Internationalisierung der deutschen Hochschulen),an academic paper of higher education,as an example to explore the translation methods of reported speech in German academic papers.It is found that the use of word order conversion,part of speech conversion and split translation methods can make the translation more accurate and fluent.This paper helps to grasp the rules and characteristics of the translation of reported speech in German academic papers,and also provides a reference for improving the quality of German-Chinese translation.

CiteOpinion: Evidence-based Evaluation Tool for Academic Contributions of Research Papers Based on Citing Sentences

Purpose:To uncover the evaluation information on the academic contribution of research papers cited by peers based on the content cited by citing papers,and to provide an evidencebased tool for evaluating the academic value of cited papers.Design/methodology/approach:CiteOpinion uses a deep learning model to automatically extract citing sentences from representative citing papers;it starts with an analysis on the citing sentences,then it identifies major academic contribution points of the cited paper,positive/negative evaluations from citing authors and the changes in the subjects of subsequent citing authors by means of Recognizing Categories of Moves(problems,methods,conclusions,etc.),and sentiment analysis and topic clustering.Findings:Citing sentences in a citing paper contain substantial evidences useful for academic evaluation.They can also be used to objectively and authentically reveal the nature and degree of contribution of the cited paper reflected by citation,beyond simple citation statistics.Practical implications:The evidence-based evaluation tool CiteOpinion can provide an objective and in-depth academic value evaluation basis for the representative papers of scientific researchers,research teams,and institutions.Originality/value:No other similar practical tool is found in papers retrieved.Research limitations:There are difficulties in acquiring full text of citing papers.There is a need to refine the calculation based on the sentiment scores of citing sentences.Currently,the tool is only used for academic contribution evaluation,while its value in policy studies,technical application,and promotion of science is not yet tested.

Contrastive Study of Metadiscourse in the Conclusion of Academic Papers between Soft Science and Hard Science

Academic paper as a genre is communicative.Interactional metadiscourse is one of the linguistic features that can significantly show the communicative feature of texts.With different research methodologies and characteristics,academic papers of hard and soft science present different degree of communicative features.The corpus of this study consists of 16 academic papers among which 8 are from hard science and 8 from soft science.This article aims to explore the different ways of scholars from soft and hard science to use metadiscourse in the conclusion part of their academic papers to exert lights to the pedagogical development of academic papers.

A Hands-on Approach Towards the Application of Research Methods in Academic Paper Writing

Based on an extensive summary of existing literature together with a random sampling of 70 graduate theses at the author’s university and 30 papers submitted to journals,which the author was entrusted to review,the present paper has addressed the novice researchers’common concern of research method application by defining and categorizing research methods and the related terms,combing and discussing the techniques for qualitative,quantitative,and mixed research methods in accordance with different research questions,and finally illustrating and explaining our viewpoints with real-life samples and comments.

Problems and Countermeasures in the Keywords of Academic Papers

Keywords with the retrieval value clearly show the main contents, enhance the influence of academic periodicals, highlight specific information, and generalize information, but because of the ignorance of the value of keywords from some authors and editors, the lack of canonical guidance, and limitations of the editorial knowledge structure, there are some problems concerning keywords in academic papers, such as papers containing too many or too few keywords, or keywords being used in a way that is too general or colloquial. According to academic principle, accurate principle, logical principle, comprehensive principle, it is imperative to discuss how to choose keywords properly.

Problems and Solutions Related to the Titles of Academic Papers

There are some problems related to the titles of academic papers, such as, titles incorresponding to the contents, and titles being too general or colloquial. It is imperative to increase the title quality of an academic paper through peer-review, or by checking grammar mistakes with computer tools. The editors should also aim to improve their academic level of knowledge.

Validity Study on the Test Paper of the Academic English Reading and Writing Course

The aim of this study is to conduct the validity analysis of the test paper of the academic English reading and writing course referring to the freshmen of non-English majors in a university of Technology in Shanghai.The validity is mainly analyzed from these three aspects:the content and construct validity,the reaction process,and the internal structure of the test paper.And the principles of language assessment in the design of the test paper are given in this study.The validity study was also conducted in a class with 42 freshmen,and the scores of them were analyzed through the internal correlation coefficient from Statistic Package for Social Science(SPSS)25.0.Finally,the validity of the test paper is concluded.

The Meta-function Interpretation of the Use of Passives in English Academic Paper

Passive voice is a common phenomenon in English academic papers, which is consistent with the academic stylistic and linguistic characteristics of academic papers. Based upon Halliday's meta-function, the present paper explores the significance and function of the passives used in academic papers. The purpose is to facilitate English learners'understanding of the passives used in academic papers, thereby improving the quality of the papers.

Does Success Breed Success?A Study on the Correlation between Impact Factor and Quantity in Chinese Academic Journals

Purpose:This paper studies the relationship between the impact factor(IF)and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system.Design/methodology/approach:The method proposed by Huang(2016)is used whereas to analysis the data of Chinese journals in this study.Findings:Based on the analysis,we find the following.(1)The average impact factor(AIF)of journals in all disciplines maintained a growth trend from 2007 to 2017.Whether before or after removing outlier journals that may garner publication fees,the IF and its growth rate for most social sciences disciplines are larger than those of most natural sciences disciplines,and the number of journal papers on social sciences disciplines decreased while that of natural sciences disciplines increased from 2007 to 2017.(2)The removal of outlier journals has a greater impact on the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers in some disciplines such as Geosciences because there may be journals that publish many papers to garner publication fees.(3)The success-breeds-success(SBS)principle is applicable in Chinese journals on natural sciences disciplines but not in Chinese journals on social sciences disciplines,and the relationship is the reverse of the SBS principle in Economics and Education&Educational Research.(4)Based on interviews and surveys,the difference in the relationship between the IF and the number of journal papers for Chinese natural sciences disciplines and Chinese social sciences disciplines may be due to the influence of the international publishing system.Chinese natural sciences journals are losing their academic power while Chinese social sciences journals that are less influenced by the international publishing system are in fierce competition.Research limitation:More implications could be found if long-term tracking and comparing the international publishing system with Chinese publishing system are taken.Practical implications:It is suggested that researchers from different countries study natural science and social sciences journals in their languages and observe the influence of the international publishing system.Originality/value:This paper presents an overview of the relationship between IF and the number of journal papers in Chinese publishing system from 2007 to 2017,provides insights into the relationship in different disciplines in Chinese publishing system,and points out the similarities and differences between Chinese publishing system and international publishing system.

Academic integrity disputes in China:a narrative case study

Because the research paper of Alzheimer's disease(AD)new drug(GV-971)was suspected to be fraudulent,the author filed a lawsuit for infringement of reputation.A court in Shanghai rejected the lawsuit.Legal documents openly support academic disputes and criticism.The FDA's approval of the listing of a new AD drug(aducanumab)is also full of controversy,and some scholars suspect that there are problems with clinical data(of course there are scholars who support the listing).Falsification of scientific research and papers is not uncommon in China.In 2021,more than 400 people were publicly investigated for falsification of papers(these papers published in SCI journals).The reason for the prevalence of falsification was related to the promotion policy,evaluation system and economic interests.Academic fraud was a serious waste of funds and corrupted the academic atmosphere.And hinder the development of science and technology.In the past two years,the government has successively promulgated a series of scientific research and academic integrity norms,prohibiting the use of scientific research funds in international predatory journals,advocating the purification of the academic environment,and conducive to genuine innovative research.The court respects science,administration does not interfere with academics,and advocates peer review.The first-instance judgment may be a landmark event for China.

Working Paper推进学术研究作用的实证研究——以金融经济领域为例

Working Paper(WP)是一类特殊的参考文献,它通常不是正式出版的论文,但常常又是最新学术思想和方法的载体,它对学术研究的推进作用是一个值得探讨的问题。本文以现代金融经济领域为研究对象,采用文献计量的方法对这个问题进行了实证研究。采用的样本为JFE杂志1998年1月至2007年10月刊登的559篇论文。设计了6个指标对WP的学术促进作用进行了统计分析。建立了三个经济计量模型分析了互联网等电子手段带来的文献传播速度加快是否促进了WP文献的学术影响。关键结论有:在现代金融经济研究领域,WP在全部参考文献的占比大约为1/10,时间影响长度大约为3.5年,互联网等手段促进了WP的使用,但没有带来增长速度的剧烈提高。

Classification of Paper Values Based on Citation Rank and PageRank

Purpose: The number of citations has been widely used to measure the significance of a paper. However, there is a need in introducing another index to determine superiority or inferiority of papers with the same number of citations. We determine superiority or inferiority of papers by using the ranking based on the number of citations and PageRank.Design/methodology/approach: We show the positive linear correlation between Citation Rank(the ranking of the number of citation) and PageRank. On this basis, we identify highquality, prestige, emerging, and popular papers. Findings: We found that the high-quality papers belong to the subjects of biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, and multidisciplinary sciences. The prestige papers correspond to the subjects of computer science, engineering, and information science. The emerging papers are related to biochemistry and molecular biology, as well as those published in the journal "Cell." The popular papers belong to the subject of multidisciplinary sciences. Research limitations: We analyze the Science Citation Index Expanded(SCIE) from 1981 to 2015 to calculate Citation Rank and PageRank within a citation network consisting of 34,666,719 papers and 591,321,826 citations.Practical implications: Our method is applicable to forecast emerging fields of research subjects in science and helps policymakers to consider science policy.Originality/value: We calculated PageRank for a giant citation network which is extremely larger than the citation networks investigated by previous researchers.

档案事业类期刊参考文献计量分析——以《档案管理》为对象

对《档案管理》期刊2013年1月—2022年12月刊载学术论文的参考文献进行计量分析,研究参考文献的类型、引用、分布、新颖性等方面的规律,为档案学研究和期刊发展提供借鉴。选取划定时间范围内的学术论文1 650篇、参考文献总共17 508条,对其进行计量统计分析发现期刊和图书是主要参考文献来源,其他文献类型的实际引用频次低,网络文献引用可追溯率低,具有影响力高但有待稳定等特点。档案学研究者和杂志社应科学认知和利用参考文献。

学术履历差异对论文产出跨学科性影响研究——以图书情报领域核心作者为例

[目的/意义]以图书情报领域核心作者为研究对象,分析学术履历差异对其论文产出跨学科的影响,为制定科研人员管理与评价政策、建设高水平交叉科研队伍提供有价值的参考。[方法/过程]首先,通过核心期刊发文量识别出高发文量学者群体,并从中识别出核心学者作为目标学者;其次,采集目标学者的简历信息进行学术履历差异编码,收集论文成果信息测度其最高学历毕业5年内学术论文产出的跨学科性,计算均值后得到学者跨学科性指标;最后,通过相关性分析、多元回归分析探讨学术履历差异与学者跨学科性的关系。[结果/结论]结果表明,在学者年龄较小、毕业时间较近、学术发展背景存在差异、职业发展背景存在差异的情况下,学者会更倾向于进行跨学科研究。其中学术发展背景差异会促使学者进行跨学科研究,但并不直接影响其产出跨学科程度。而毕业时间、职业发展背景的差异会对学者论文产出的跨学科性程度造成影响。

在实践中学习和实施《学术论文编写规则》

GB/T 7713.2—2022《学术论文编写规则》代替GB/T7713—1987《科学技术报告、学位论文和学术论文的编写格式》中的学术论文编写格式部分,于2023年7月1日起实施。做好新版标准的学习和实施工作,对学术论文编写和出版标准化、规范化,方便学术论文的检索和传播,促进学术成果的交流和使用具有重要意义。在学习《学术论文编写规则》时,要注意要求型、推荐型、允许型及陈述型条款的区别,区分各条款使用的能愿动词,如应、宜、可等。结合油气行业的特点和实际编校工作,对题名、摘要、关键词、正文部分、量和单位、表格、数字和数学式中常见的不规范问题进行了解析,以期进一步增强作者与编辑的标准化意识,提升学术论文写作和编校规范化水平。

医学论文中容易涉及的意识形态问题

医学论文的学术性和专业性较强,其中涉及的意识形态问题容易被忽视。为了让医护研究人员了解学术论文中存在的意识形态问题,本研究从医学论文中可能涉及的政治意识问题和医学伦理问题进行分析,医学论文中涉及的政治意识问题主要包括地图问题、港澳台表述问题、民族问题、国家重要领导人及其讲话的问题、保密问题以及其他的政治问题,医学论文中涉及的伦理问题主要包括涉及人生命的医学研究伦理审查情况和实验动物福利伦理。通过对医学论文中涉及的政治问题和伦理问题进行深入分析,指出了医学论文中涉及的意识形态问题的处理方法,有助于促进学术界和医疗实践的交流与合作,推动医学和护理领域的发展和进步。

《西北农林科技大学学报(社会科学版)》2013-2022年高被引论文特征分析

利用中国知网引文数据库的资料,以2013-2022年《西北农林科技大学学报(社会科学版)》(以下简称《学报》)刊发文章总量的5%为标准遴选出的高被引论文作为研究对象,对高被引论文的栏目/专题、基金项目、高被引论文作者、第一作者机构和排名前20的高被引论文进行了分析,为组稿、约稿和筛选优质稿源提供依据。结果显示,《学报》2013-2022年共刊发论文1266篇,总被引频次为32051次,从中遴选出高被引论文63篇,高被引论文总被引频次为8308次,占总被引频次的25.92%。63篇高被引论文均属学报特色栏目——“三农”问题研究的下设专题论文,此栏目的高被引论文占到了73.02%,“精准扶贫”“乡村振兴”“农村电商”3个专题高被引论文表现抢眼。在高被引论文获助的基金项目中,国家社科基金资助20项,占31.75%,是获助的主体;国家自然科学基金资助论文居于第2位。高被引论文中作者的职称(学历)居前3位的分别是博士研究生、教授(研究员)、副教授(副研究员),其中博士研究生的高被引论文占到了总数的38.10%,表明其已经成为学术研究的主力军;发表2篇以上高被引论文的作者有3位。来源论文机构总被引频次的排序前5名为西北农林科技大学、中国农业大学、华中农业大学、华中科技大学和西安交通大学。被引频次最多的前20篇论文的统计结果与前面的统计情况相吻合,值得注意的是“精准扶贫”和“乡村振兴”两个专题的高被引论文占了几近一半。鉴于以上结果,今后应继续做好选题策划,持续加强“三农”问题研究特色栏目建设。组稿约稿中要扩大核心作者群,积极关注青年科技工作者研究成果,打造高水平服务团队,提升论文学术水平;大力推进新媒体融合出版,提升学术成果传播速度。

基于提示学习混合模型的学术论文自动分类研究

学术论文分类在知识管理、学术交流、研究导向和学术评估等方面都具有重要的意义。基于深度学习模型构建学术论文自动分类系统,相较于现有的文本分类方法,该系统融合提示学习思想,可较好地缩小预训练模型与下游任务的差距。结果表明,该系统较好地提高了文本分类性能和规范性,为科研工作者提供了更好的管理、利用和挖掘信息的方式。

研究生课程论文如何变身为学术论文——一种教育学的视角

以自建语料库为驱动,发现相较于一般英语文章,医学论文英文摘要在名词使用上具有高频使用名词串和名词化词汇的特点。提取主题词,发现医学论文英文摘要的名词主题词大多和医学主题密切相关。调查主题词Patients和Study的用法,发现和共现词语之间呈现出一定的搭配形式和语义韵。
