An Extended Fuzzy-DEMATEL System for Factor Analyses on Social Capital Selection in the Renovation of Old Residential Communities

China has been promoting the renovation of old residential communities vigorously.Due to the financial pressure of the government and the sustainability of the renovation of old residential communities,public-private partnerships(PPP)have already gained attention.The selection of social capital is key to improving the efficiency of the PPP model in renovating old residential communities.In order to determine the influencing factors of social capital selection in the renovation of old residential communities,this paper aims to find an effective approach and analyze these factors.In this paper,a fuzzy decision-making and trial evaluation laboratory(fuzzy-DEMATEL)technique is extended and amore suitable systemis developed for the selection of social capital using the existing group decisionmaking theory.In the first stage,grounded theory is used to extract the unabridged key influencing factors for social capital selection in the renovation of old residential communities.Secondly,by considering the impact of expert weights,the key influencing factors are identified.The interactions within these influencing factors are discussed and the credibility of the results is verified by sensitivity analysis.Finally,these key influencing factors are sorted by importance.Based on the results,the government should focus on a technical level,organizationalmanagement abilities,corporate reputation,credit status,etc.This study provides the government with a theoretical basis and a methodology for evaluating social capital selection.

Revitalization Design of Public Spaces in Old Residential Communities: a Case Study of Qingshanhu Community in Nanchang City

Public space is an important part of a dty and also a crucial carrier for public activities. During the urban development, the overall environmental quality of old residential communities has degraded gradually for the lack of maintenance and upgrading, its public spaces have failed to satisfy routine needs of residents. To remodel the vitality of public spaces in old residential communities, this paper based on the field investigation of Qingshanhu Community in Nanchang City explored the thoughts of revitalizing public spaces in old residential communities from the aspects of society and material environment, and put forward the strategies of designing vitality of public spaces in old residential communities.

Study on Construction Strategy of Rainwater Landscape System in Urban Residential Community

On the basis of analyzing the function and restriction conditions of water features in residential community, the feasibility and specific strategies of using rain- water to construct the waterscape system in residential community were proposed, with the aim to deal with the problems of urban water shortage, urban waterlogging and initial rainwater non-point source pollution.

Site Analysis of Residential Community Design—A Case Study of the Residential Community of the Fifth Agricultural Construction Division in Bole City of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in China

Based on the concept of site characteristic and site spirit,by taking the Residential Community of the Fifth Agricultural Construction Division in Bole City of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for example,the paper has analyzed its background and general situation,and the site characteristic,and emphasized that its planning and design should manifest the comfortable and cozy environment of the residential community,army culture unique in the Fifth Agricultural Division of Xinjiang Crops,and its enterprising spirit.It has pointed out the design should highlight people orientation;stress the quality of living environment;emphasize the individuality of the residential community;combine new technologies;respect the sunshine,terrain and waterscape of the site;well deal with the spatial location of the site;and pay attention to the inheritance of historical culture in the site,so as to create a high-grade residential community integrating army crops feature and water style,with complete supporting facilities,and in possession of unique sharing space,broad landscape avenue and wide building span.

Renovation of Outdoor Environment in Old Residential Communities Suitable for the Elderly against the Background of Population Aging

More old residential communities have become unsuitable for the elderly because of the aging of outdoor physical environment and functional degradation. This paper investigated behaviors and mental activities of the elderly, problems of outdoor environment in old residential communities, and proposed strategies for the renovation of old residential communities from the perspectives of outdoor environment, road, greening and public supporting facilities according to demands of the elderly on outdoor environment, so as to provide them a comfortable and reasonable outdoor environment.

Application of High-efficient Vertical Flow Constructed Wetland in Treatment of Domestic Sewage in Residential Community

With the increase of requirement for ecological function of environment,for quality of water environment,for sewage treatment cost and for comprehensive utilization of water resources,it was bound to introduce a new type of ecological technology for pollution treatment which was low in cost,convenient in management and stable in operation.High-efficient vertical flow constructed wetland developed by Shenzhen Academy of Environmental Science was characterized by good landscape effect and high efficiency of pollutants removal,and it had been widely applied in sewa-ge treatment and recycling and in lake water circulation purification.A lot of practical results showed that this technology could achieve high removal efficiency of SS,COD,BOD5,NH4-N and TP and the removal rate had arrived at more than 80% when hydraulic loading was 0.33-0.50 m/d.Effluent quality had met the water quality standard for recycling of urban sewage.

Community Regeneration Based on CPTED Theory: A Case Study of Rosengard Residential Area in Sweden

With urban development and social transformation, residential areas in some western countries have been faced with safety problems and community deterioration. In order to solve these problems through community planning, Crime Prevention through Environmental Design(CPTED) theory had been applied to practice. Rosengard residential area in Malmo, Sweden was a typical example of underclass community with physical and social problems. However, regeneration programme based on CPTED theory aimed to change the community from a problematical area to a safe and attractive neighborhood. Multidimensional analysis was carried out to illustrate the relationship between environmental improvement and security from community image, traffic system, territoriality and natural surveillance perspectives. This study could be considered as a referential approach for community construction and regeneration in China.

CHINA’S URBAN RESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY IN THE COURSE OF TRANSFER OF SOCIAL PATTERN

Even though the study of urban sociology in China is just a beginning,it doesn't mean that urban social problems in China are new or simple. As a Very sensitive field, urban prudential community has not been deeply analysed owing to various reasons. This article tries to start with the background of China's social development and analyse the pattern, essence and evolution fortion of China's urban residenhal community which is in the course of transfer of social Pattern. This article first analyzes the functiond mechanism of seven main elements affecting Chinese urban residential community in the course of transfer of social pattern. Some of the elements come into being under the social economic background, with Chinese characteristics, and have a profound influence on urban residential community. Based on that, the author then respectively infers the evolution of four ban patterns of urban prudential communities in China now. Finally, it puts forward the basic principles of urban community development in the current transfer period in China, and with a development eyesight, it makes a summary of the general characteristics of the Chinese urban residential community in the future.

Research on Uncertainties in Evaluation Indicator System for Ecological Residential Community

In the process of evaluating,the weights of indicators are firstly determined by AHP and Delphi methods;and the values of indicators are normalized by grey correlative coefficient method.A suit of means were put forward,by which a qualitative and quantitative evaluation indicator system suitable for the situation of China and uncertainties can be established.Both idiographic and operable methods and process were presented.Following the principle of elasticity,hiberarchy and maneuverability,a three-layer evaluation indicator system was established by AHP in Jiuyi ecological residential community,which includes 5 subsystems and 24 indicatiors.The weights of indicators are measured by AHP and expert estimate and their best indicators values up to par were determined by fuzzy mathematics and optimization.The whole evaluation indicator system not only has an active and practical effect on estimating ecological residential community,but also guides ecological residential community planning.

Differences of Landscape Architecture between Residential Communities in North and South China

This paper reviewed basic definitions of residential community landscape,analyzed the differences between residential community landscapes in north and south China,and also the causes of landscape differences from the perspectives of climate,soil,vegetation species,water resources,historical and cultural background. Moreover,landscape design strategies suitable for actual conditions of China were put forward in terms of overall style,plant configuration,waterscape design,and construction details.

Evaluation of Development Model of Community Residential Areas in a World Heritage Site:A Case Study of Wulingyuan Scenic Spot in Zhangjiajie

In order to provide suggestions of development model for residential areas in the Wuling mountainous area with changes in the industrial model brought about by tourism development, the evaluation model of the development modes of 8 local residential areas was constructed by using the ordering relation analysis method. It is concluded that Nanyuan Group belongs to relocation type;Shuijingya, Nanzhang, Miaota and Lijia groups are disentanglement type;Xiejia, Chazhang and Dengjia groups are control type. The study provides reference data for the community to balance the relationship between tourism development and traditional production and life, and has certain guiding significance for local community planning and development.

Gentrification and Residential Differentiation in Nanjing,China

The institutional environment in China has quite evidently changed during modern socio-economic transitions.Driven both by local government and by marketing force,urban social space was redistributed after the reform of urban land and real estate policies.Urban renewal makes for wide differential rent and therefore gentrification is occurring in China.This paper analyzes the background and institutional environment of gentrification in China,and further discusses the process,characteristics and evolutionary mechanisms in the case of Nanjing,through investigation of the attributes of 1075 residential communities built during the 1998-2008 at a macro level,and interviewing the residents and analyzing questionnaires in 6 different and typical communities at a micro level.As a socio-spatial course of two-way interaction,gentrification is divided into 3 stages of incubation,occurrence and fast development,according to the time of landmark events and policy reform on the leasehold of land in Nanjing during socio-economic transition.In terms of the socio-spatial characteristics of gentrification in Nanjing,the gentrification process under the trajectory of urban renewal makes urban social space present a new circle-layer structure;the rise of quite a number of gated communities results in the fragmentation of social space and privatization of public space;the management mode of modern communities and the change of life style have aggravated the indifference of neighborhood relationship of gentrified communities.Based on the empirical evidence of this study,this paper indicates that gentrification is quite different between China and western countries with respect to spatio-temporal order,dominant forces,paths of realization and spatial expression,and it further reveals the dynamic mechanism of gentrification developing in China at the present stage.

Intellectual Property Protection and High-quality Development of Cotton Industry in Xinjiang

This paper firstly introduces the general situation of cotton planting areas in China and cotton industry in Xinjiang,and the current situation of intellectual property protection of Xinjiang's cotton industry.Then,it analyzes the main problems in its intellectual property protection and high-quality development.On this basis,it comes up with the recommendations for high-quality development of cotton industry in Xinjiang under the strategy of strengthening the country with intellectual property.The recommendations include improving the level of creation of creative intellectual property rights,building an intellectual property rule system in the entire cotton industry chain in Xinjiang,building protected zones for production of major high quality agricultural product cotton,establishing a demonstration zone to undertake the transfer of the domestic cotton textile and garment industry,undertaking education on the sense of community for the Chinese nation in response to the Xinjiang cotton incident,and developing the"Belt and Road"blue market for Xinjiang cotton and its products.

Suggestions on Strengthening Greening Construction of Ecological Residential Areas

Greening construction is an important part of the construction of ecological residential areas,but there exist some misunderstandings in greening construction of ecological residential districts at present.Based on the description of functions of green space in ecological residential areas,the summarization of principles of greening design,and the discussion of questions in greening construction of ecological residential districts,some suggestions as well as specific measures for strengthening greening construction of ecological residential areas were proposed to promote the healthy development of greening construction in ecological residential areas.

An Approach for Building a High-Quality Belt and Road

The Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation has ushered in a new phase featuring the joint promotion of a comprehensive,high-quality Belt and Road construction.Advancing the construction of a high-quality Belt and Road is based not only on the solid achievements of its six years of consolidation and practical cooperation,but also on the guidance of China’s initiatives and proposals,general recognition by the countries along the Belt and Road,as well as the support and recognition from international organizations like the United Nations.However,the uncertainty and instability found in the ever-changing international environment,the suspicion and strategic competition from extraterritorial major countries,and other concrete problems appearing during its construction over the past six years have also posed certain challenges that cannot be ignored.The direction of its high-quality development in this new phase involves China’s proactive selection to face the changing international environment and curtail suspicions from the outside world,as well as to resolve the difficulties and problems it encounters along the way in a timely manner,which will ensure the long-term sustainability of the Belt and Road.Achieving this goal calls for long-term system engineering,wherein China should continue to play a steering role,and the convergence of the interests of the countries along the Belt and Road so as to fuse these nations,each with their own respective resources,closely together by building a regional value chain.In such a closely-knit community,high-quality infrastructure serves as the backbone,while diversified financing institutions and functions serve as the arteries.Meanwhile,institutional building should also be emphasized,which will ensure that the goals for building a high-quality Belt and Road are fulfilled at different levels.

Community Landscape Sketch Design Based on Interaction Theory

Starting from the fact that urbanization increasingly aggravated and population constantly increased,the paper pointed out community landscape was the belt for human and environment interact,could well relieve pressure,ameliorate and improve life quality,create a harmonious life environment for citizens.It would introduce landscape furniture by dividing them into five types which were rest sketch,ornamental sketch,light sketch,demonstration sketch and service sketch.It also explained the connotation of interaction theory,and proposed that there were three steps during the interaction between human and landscape furniture by combining landscape furniture and interaction theory,that is,self interaction of landscape furniture,self interaction of subject and interaction between landscape furniture and subject.It emphasized that these three steps were the designing essence of interaction theory in landscape furniture.On this basis,it had discussed interaction design techniques for community landscape furniture from the angles of shape,color,material,expression of furniture connotation.The key was to better integrate community landscape furniture into residents' daily life,so as to provide a more reasonable and humanized design concept for designers.

Construction and application of an assessment index system for evalu ating the eco-community’s sustainability

An assessment index system including environment, socio-culture, economy and technology was established for evaluating environmental construction level of community （objective construction）, and questionnaire was designed according to paper review for evaluating residential satisfaction （subjective satisfaction）. The index system was divided into four layers： system （A）, subsystems （B）, categories （C）, and indicators （D）, and in total of 38 indicators was established. The Xihe community, affiliated to Nanfen district, Benxi City, Liaoning Province, China was selected as a case study. Results indicated that the community sustainability index related to objective environmental construction was 0.4355 and was classified as class Ⅲ （moderate）; the community sustainability index related to the residential satisfaction was 0.4255, belonging to class Ⅲ. In conclusion, the sustainability of Xihe community was moderate and needed to be improved. Residential satisfaction was lower than objective environmental construction. The assessment index system established in this study is able to reflect the comprehensive sustainability of community and can be used to evaluate other similar communities＇ sustainability.

Exploration of Living Modes for Small-scale Community Endowment

The aging and the urban development bring a great challenge to the residential facilities of the elderly community. By exploring the layout and current situation of the elderly residential facilities in Chengdu City, this paper stressed the key points in the layout of various facilities at the macro scale. Through the deep investigation of residential districts, the paper explored the community endowment mode that is between the organization support and home-based care for the aged, and proposed 3 modes on the basis of "visiting, day care and short-stay". Considering the specific needs of the aged and the compound modes, compound community endowment mode was put forward as the future development direction of community endowment to contribute to the construction of the overall social endowment system.

The Community Transformation and Residential Space Restructuring Strategies of Small Towns in the Pearl River Delta Region

After analyzing the current characteristics and problems of residential space in small towns in the Pearl River Delta Region(PRDR), combined with the New Urbanism theory and community construction methods, this paper puts forward a restructuring strategy of residential space, which includes the reorganization of residential space using the "community – residential quarter – neighborhood" model, the reform of the community management mode based on the "transformation from village council to resident committee," the restructuring of the multi-level community service system to meet the diversified social needs, and the construction of a mixed community addressing the issue of residential segregation and the aim to achieve community integration.

REGENERATIVE URBAN COMMUNITY DESIGN

INTRODUCTION Global sustainable development is inextricably tied to the development of cities,as accelerating growth in urban populations becomes a major driver of social,environmental and ecological change.Cities are major consumers of natural resources and producers of pollution and waste.Development solutions that can reduce urban environmental impacts,as well as increase urban quality of life,are urgently needed.How to ensure that rampant growth in urban communities follows a regenerative and sustainable path therefore becomes a critical and increasingly relevant question.
