Recent Ventures in Interdisciplinary Arctic Research:The ARCPATH Project

This paper celebrates Professor Yongqi GAO's significant achievement in the field of interdisciplinary studies within the context of his final research project Arctic Climate Predictions: Pathways to Resilient Sustainable Societies-ARCPATH(https://www.svs.is/en/projects/finished-projects/arcpath). The disciplines represented in the project are related to climatology, anthropology, marine biology, economics, and the broad spectrum of social-ecological studies. Team members were drawn from the Nordic countries, Russia, China, the United States, and Canada. The project was transdisciplinary as well as interdisciplinary as it included collaboration with local knowledge holders. ARCPATH made significant contributions to Arctic research through an improved understanding of the mechanisms that drive climate variability in the Arctic. In tandem with this research, a combination of historical investigations and social, economic, and marine biological fieldwork was carried out for the project study areas of Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and the surrounding seas, with a focus on the joint use of ocean and sea-ice data as well as social-ecological drivers. ARCPATH was able to provide an improved framework for predicting the near-term variation of Arctic climate on spatial scales relevant to society, as well as evaluating possible related changes in socioeconomic realms. In summary, through the integration of information from several different disciplines and research approaches, ARCPATH served to create new and valuable knowledge on crucial issues, thus providing new pathways to action for Arctic communities.

The Effectiveness of Cross-cultural Competence in Joint Ventures

The paper uses the theory of core competence based on knowledge capital to build up international joint venture’s effective capability system of cross-culture. It involves in forming common mind of business, strategies of glocalization, complementary skills of cross-culture and cross-cultural training. It also presents the case of Lansheng Daewoo Corp to give a positive analysis.

The Status Quo Analysis of New Ventures in China

New venture has developed as an important topic in entrepreneurship research. In this paper we analyze the status quo of new Ventures in China from four aspects： capital demand scale of new ventures, the characteristics and motivation of entrepreneurs, the attitude of new ventures toward the intervention of venture capital firms and the external environmental factors of hindering new ventures. The data in this research come from 104 ventures in four cities （Peking, Shanghai, Changchun and Shenyang） in China. The empirical analysis indicates that there are many problems in the development of the new ventures in China.

The Entrepreneurial Marketing Concept and Its Application by the International New Ventures

For the last two decades, there has been an ongoing research concerning the international new ventures （INV） or born global （BG） companies which are rapidly entering foreign markets. They face challenges connected with their marketing activity, because they launch relatively more product innovations in a shorter time than the gradually internationalized companies （GRAD）. The entrepreneurial marketing （EM） concept could become a solution to some of these challenges, because of a greater entrepreneurial intensity （EI） and different decision-making approach than ＂classical＂ marketing concept. This study＇s aim is to analyze the EM concept and application of its elements by the INVs originating from Poland. Based on two computer-aided telephone interview （CATI） studies of INVs from the Polish industrial processing sector, the central elements of EM, applied by them, are explored, together with their relationship to INV performance. As it is shown, the INVs introduce significantly more product innovations than the gradually internationalized small and medium sized enterprises （SMEs）. They often exceed competitors in the speed of launching innovations and are flexible in entering new markets. The entrepreneurial orientation （EO） indicators are at low to medium levels in all studied SMEs. However, the propensity to risk is slightly stronger in the INVs and correlated moderately with the financial performance. As the study shows, lack of emphasis on marketing planning and information gathering is the characteristic of the Polish INVs, which may testify to their effectual approach to decision making. Furthermore, similar as in the foreign-based INVs, there may exist a relationship between the application of the EM concept and performance of the Polish INNs, which, however, requires further study with respect to some mediating factors. It has been concluded that innovativeness of the product offering and propensity to risk seems to be the characteristic EM concept elements accompanying the rapid internationalization of INVs. The future research should focus on other elements of the EM-mix applied by INVs originating from emerging economies.

Review of Supply Chain Partnership Process in Joint Ventures Example as Chinese Automotive Industry

Under the environment of economic globalization, there has seen a global transfer of manufacturing into China and China＇s automotive industry engage in global trade. China faces unprecedented opportunities for development, although there are many challenges it must face, It has become a strategic choice for all automotive enterprises to implement supply chain management in order to achieve competitive advantages. At present, most researches on supply chain partnerships have been carried out based on enterprises in developed countries. Very few theoretical and empirical studies have been based on developing countries, and in particular, only a few scholars have examined supply chain partnerships in China. Based on the joint ventures, this paper is a review of partner theories and process of partner relationship. With respect to the supply chain partnership strategy and process and partners＇ capability literature, there is limited research on the special background such as joint ventures or Chinese automotive industry. Some literature on partners＇ capabilities is based in favor of the operational aspects.

Spatio-temporal evolution of the coordinated development of high-tech industry agglomeration and resource-environmental carrying capacity in the Yellow River Basin

Under the background of new infrastructure,the Yellow River Basin’s superior growth cannot be separated originating with the synergistic effect of scientific and technological inventiveness and ecological civilization construction.In light of the coupling coordination analysis of the coordination effect of provincial high-tech industry agglomeration and resource carrying capacity in the Yellow River Basin from 2009 to 2021,The evolution of the geographical and temporal pattern of development was investigated using the Moran index and kernel density estimation.The results show that the agglomeration of high-tech industries in the Yellow River Basin presents a development trend of seek improvement in stability,and there is a good coupling and coordination throughout the progression of scientific and technological innovation and the loading capacity of the resource,from the viewpoint of a time series.From the perspective of spatial pattern distribution,the whole basin aims at the lower reaches,accelerates the optimization of digital industry and promotes Yellow River Basin development of superior quality through innovation support and increase of input,and based on policy guidance.

Research on the path of effective management of participation in joint-venture railway companies by China railway group

Purpose-Following the regional restructuring,the number of joint-venture railway companies in which the Group participates has significantly increased.This paper aims to explore the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies.The study seeks to propose specific approaches to ensure the effective management of these companies,thereby maximizing the benefits of the regional restructuring and supporting the development of a strong transportation country and a modern infrastructure system.Design/methodology/approach-Based on the change in the shareholding relationship between China Railway Group and the joint-venture railway companies,and considering the current situation of the regional restructuring of these companies,as well as the insights from existing literature and typical case studies,this paper proposes some specific paths for effective management of joint-stock railway companies which China Railway Group participated in.Findings-The problems in participation management are the unclear dual leadership role of the party committee,the lack of discourse power,the lack of synergy between shareholders,the increasing risk of sustainable operation of the loss-making companies and the role of dispatched personnel is not fully played.Based on the theories,combined with the existing research and practical cases,the paper proposed specific approaches,such as perfecting top-level system design,maintaining the discourse power,carrying out differentiated management,arranging personnel rationally,arranging shareholders synergy,and innovating methods to provide references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint venture railway companies.Originality/value-This paper contributes to the existing literature by providing a comprehensive analysis of the challenges faced by China Railway Group in managing participation in joint-venture railway companies following the regional restructuring.The study offers novel insights and practical recommendations for addressing these challenges.The findings can serve as valuable references for China Railway Group’s subsequent management of joint-venture railway companies which participated in,as well as for other stateowned enterprises facing similar challenges in managing their joint ventures.

Strategic equilibrium price analysis and numerical simulation of preponderant high-tech metal mineral resources

Based on exploitation compensation value system of preponderant high-tech metal mineral resources and distortion of pricing mechanism, social utility function was constructed to modify decision utility function of developers, and was extended to Stackelberg production decision model of preponderant high-tech metal mineral resources development. Analyzing the influences on market monopoly, output and price decision-making exerted by altruistic preferences, inequity aversion and sequential reciprocity fairness belief equilibrium, game fairness equilibrium which is significant in experimental economics can be obtained and verified by numerical simulation. In process of strategic pricing, method that uses the variation of producer surplus to measure strategic value from psychological preferences was proposed for the first time and technical support to improve exploitation compensation value system of preponderant metal mineral resources was available.
