This work investigated the effect of Cr and Si on the mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of press hardened steel.Results indicated that the microstructure of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel co...This work investigated the effect of Cr and Si on the mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of press hardened steel.Results indicated that the microstructure of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel consisted of lath martensite,M_(23)C_(6)carbides,and retained austenite.The retained austenite and carbides are responsible for the increase in elongation of the micro-alloyed steel.In addition,after oxidation at 930℃for 5 min,the thickness of the oxide scales on the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is less than 5μm,much thinner than 45.50μm-thick oxide scales on 22MnB5.The oxide scales of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed steel are composed of Fe_(2)O_(3),Fe_(3)O_(4),mixed spinel oxide(FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)),and amorphous SiO_(2).Adding Cr and Si significantly reduces the thickness of the oxide scales and prevents the generation of the FeO phase.Due to the increase of spinel FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)phase in the inner oxide scale and the amorphous SiO_(2)close to the substrate,the oxidation resistance of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is improved.展开更多

The oxida...Satellited CoNiCrAlY–Al_(2)O_(3)feedstocks with 2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt% oxide nanoparticles and pure CoNiCrAlY powder were deposited by the high-velocity oxy fuel process on an Inconel738 superalloy substrate. The oxidation test was performed at 1050℃ for 5, 50, 100,150, 200, and 400 h. The microstructure and phase composition of powders and coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The bonding strength of the coatings was also evaluated. The results proved that with the increase in the percentage of nanoparticles(from 2wt% to 6wt%), the amount of porosity(from 1vol% to 4.7vol%), unmelted particles, and roughness of the coatings(from 4.8 to 8.8 μm) increased, and the bonding strength decreased from 71 to 48 MPa. The thicknesses of the thermally grown oxide layer of pure and composite coatings(2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt%) after 400 h oxidation were measured as 6.5, 5.5, 7.6, and 8.1 μm, respectively.The CoNiCrAlY–2wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating showed the highest oxidation resistance due to the diffusion barrier effect of well-dispersed nanoparticles. The CoNiCrAlY–6wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating had the lowest oxidation resistance due to its rough surface morphology and porous microstructure.展开更多

The effect of La2O3 or CeO2 particle size on the oxidation resistance of the electrodeposited Ni-La2O3/CeO2 composites in air at 1000 °C was studied. The results indicate that, compared with the electrodeposited Ni-film, Ni-La2O3/CeO2 composites exhibit a superior oxidation resistance due to the codeposited La2O3 or CeO2 particles blocking the outward diffusion of nickel. Moreover, compared with nanoparticles, La2O3 or CeO2 microparticles have stronger effect because La2O3 or CeO2 microparticles also act as a diffusion barrier layer at the onset of oxidation.展开更多
High-temperature oxidation is a common failure in high-temperature environments,which widely occur in aircraft engines and aerospace thrusters;as a result,the development of anti-high-temperature oxidation materials h...High-temperature oxidation is a common failure in high-temperature environments,which widely occur in aircraft engines and aerospace thrusters;as a result,the development of anti-high-temperature oxidation materials has been pursued.Ni-based alloys are a common high-temperature material;however,they are too expensive.High-entropy alloys are alternatives for the anti-oxidation property at high temperatures because of their special structure and properties.The recent achievements of high-temperature oxidation are reviewed in this paper.The high-temperature oxidation environment,temperature,phase structure,alloy elements,and preparation methods of high-entropy alloys are summarized.The reason why high-entropy alloys have anti-oxidation ability at high temperatures is illuminated.Current research,material selection,and application prospects of high-temperature oxidation are introduced.展开更多
To improve the oxidation properties of ferritic heat-resistant steels,an Al-bearing 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al ferritic heat-resistant steel was designed.We then conducted cyclic oxidation tests to investigate the high-temperature o...To improve the oxidation properties of ferritic heat-resistant steels,an Al-bearing 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al ferritic heat-resistant steel was designed.We then conducted cyclic oxidation tests to investigate the high-temperature oxidation behavior of 9Cr‒5Si and 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al ferritic heat-resistant steels at 900 and 1000℃.The characteristics of the oxide layer were analyzed by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and energy dispersive spectroscopy.The results show that the oxidation kinetics curves of the two tested steels follow the parabolic law,with the parabolic rate constant kp of 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al steel being much lower than that of 9Cr‒5Si steel at both 900 and 1000℃.The oxide film on the surface of the 9Cr‒5Si alloy exhibits Cr2MnO4 and Cr2O3 phases in the outer layer after oxidation at 900 and 1000℃.However,at oxidation temperatures of 900 and 1000℃,the oxide film of the 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al alloy consists only of Al2O3 and its oxide layer is thinner than that of the 9Cr‒5Si alloy.These results indicate that the addition of Al to the 9Cr‒5Si steel can improve its high-temperature oxidation resistance,which can be attributed to the formation of a continuous and compact Al2O3 film on the surface of the steel.展开更多

The microstructure of this grid plate with a life more than 18 months was studied by XRD, SEM and EDS techniques. The results show that high hardness, high intensity and good impact property make the new kind of heat-resistant grid plate and its oxide film have a higher resistance to deformation and abrasion at 900-1000℃ Besides, small grain size is beneficial to form a complete protective oxide film. The oxide film composed of SiO2 layer, Cr2O3 layer and Fe2O3 layer is rather thin and bonds closely with the backing. The forming of the chemical stable nickel-rich layer increases the density of Cr2O3 layer.展开更多

The oxidation behavior of GY-YSZ at 1 050 ℃ was investigated using impedance spectroscopy (IS) combined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Various electrical responses observed in the impedance spectra corresponding to GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries were explained using circuit modeling. The change in the conduction mechanism of GY-YSZ was found to be related to the O^2- vacancy and lattice distortion due to the stabilizer diffusion during the oxidation. The results also suggested that the specific oxidation information about the GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries should be acquired at a moderate measurement temperature, which was related to the resistance value in the impedance spectra. The resistance values of the GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries should be measured at 200 ℃ and 300 ℃, respectively.展开更多

By means of isothermal oxidation testing, X-ray diffraction, SEM (scanning electron microscopy), and EDS (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) analyses, the oxidation kinetics as well as the composition and morphology of scales were investigated. Thermodynamic calculations were used to explain the oxidation mechanism. The results showed that as the oxidation temperature increased, the oxidation rate, the scale thickness, and scale spallation increased. FGH96 P/M superalloy exhibits good oxidation resistance at temperature below 800℃. The oxidation kinetics follows an approximately parabolic rate law, and the oxide layer was mainly composed of Cr2O3 TiO2 and a little amount of NiCr2O4. The oxidation is controlled by the transmission of chromium. titanium, and oxygen through the oxide scale.展开更多

However, since oxidation is a complex process involving microstructure evolution, its quantitative analysis has always been a challenge. In this work, a phase field method (PFM) based on the thermodynamics theory is developed to simulate the oxidation behavior and oxidation induced growth stress. It involves microstructure evolution and solves the problem of quantitatively computational analysis for the oxidation behavior and growth stress. Employing this method, the diffusion process, oxidation performance, and stress evolution axe predicted for Fe-Cr-A1-Y alloys. The numerical results agree well with the experimental data. The linear relationship between the maximum growth stress and the environment oxygen concentration is found. PFM provides a powerful tool to investigate high-temperature oxidation in complex environments.展开更多

Hot corrosion in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4+25 wt pct K2SO4 was investigated at 900℃. The scale on the cast TiAINb tends to spall in air, while the scale on coating is very adherent. The sputtered Ti-48AI-8Cr-2Ag coating remarkably improved high temperature oxidation resistance of the cast Ti-46.5AI-5Nb alloy because of the formation of an adherent Al2O3 scale. Due to the inward diffusion of Cr, Kirkendall voids were found at the coating/substrate interface. TiAICrAg coating provided excellent hot corrosion resistance for TiAINb alloy in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4+25 wt pct K2S04 at 900℃ due to the formation of a continuous Al_2O_3 scale.展开更多

The results indicate that oxidation exponent n and oxidation activation energy are increased, and oxidation velocity constant kp is decreased when 0.2% RE is added in 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N steel. The addition of RE elements does not alter phase constitution of oxidation scale, however it improves the configuration of oxidation scale, and increases thermal stability and adhesivity of oxidation scale, which results in the raise of oxidation resistance of 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N steel at high temperature. The oxidation scale constitutes of refractory steel transfer from manganic oxide mostly to ferric oxide mostly with the increase of temperature, which leads to descend of compactness and desquamation resistance of oxidation scale. The mass increase of ferric oxide in the oxidation scale and the looseness of oxidation scale are the main reason to descend the oxidation resistance of refractory steel.展开更多
A variety of experimental tracer diffusivities of Mg and O in magnesium oxide available in the literature were first assessed.Atomic mobilities including bulk and short-circuit diffusion of Mg and O were then obtained...A variety of experimental tracer diffusivities of Mg and O in magnesium oxide available in the literature were first assessed.Atomic mobilities including bulk and short-circuit diffusion of Mg and O were then obtained by means of the CALPHAD(Calculation of Phase Diagram)approach.Afterwards,the diffusion-controlled kinetic model of oxidation in a gas-MgO-Mg environment was developed based on the moving boundary model and Fick's law,coupling with the modified thermodynamic description of MgO.A mathematical expression for parabolic rate constant kp of the oxide scale was derived for magnesia and correlated with the thermodynamic and diffusion kinetic information.The evaluated kp results were in line with the experimental data.Finally,the oxidation process of pure magnesium at 673 K was model-predicted,and the predicted evolution of the oxide thicknesses agreed very well with the experimental data.It was indicated that the grain boundaries diffusion of magnesium cations predominated the high temperature oxidation process.展开更多

The hightemperature oxidation kinetic curve of Cr20 Ni12 Si2 RE at 1 050 ℃ was obtained using the weighting method. The oxidation curves exhibit the parabolic law at 1 050 ℃; after 250 h of oxidation,the mass gain was 22 g/m^2. The morphology,structure,and composition of the oxide film were examined using scanning electron microscopy and Xray diffraction methods. A thin,stable,and dense spinel oxide film obtained after 250 h of oxidation at 1 050 ℃ was mainly composed of( Mn_(0.87)Fe_(0.13))( Mn_(0.13)Fe_(0.87)Cr) O_4 and Cr_2 O_3 with a silicon-containing oxide underneath. The addition of rare earth elements was found to restrict further diffusion of metallic atoms from the austenite toward the oxide film,and consequently,led to a low growth rate of the oxide film. The inner silicon-containing oxide was produced by the diffusion of oxygen atoms and enhanced the coherent strength of the oxide film.展开更多

The oxidation behavior of the Ti-47.5Al-2.5V-1.0Cr-0.2Zr alloy at 900℃ was investigated at different oxidation times(5,20,60 and 100 h).The results show that the total weight gain of the alloy after 100 h at 900℃ ox...The oxidation behavior of the Ti-47.5Al-2.5V-1.0Cr-0.2Zr alloy at 900℃ was investigated at different oxidation times(5,20,60 and 100 h).The results show that the total weight gain of the alloy after 100 h at 900℃ oxidation is 9.1 g·m^(-2),and the oxidation rate decreases with oxidation time.The oxides on the alloy surface are mainly TiO_(2) and Al_(2)O_(3).At the beginning of oxidation(5 h),the oxide film is relatively complete,thin,and the interface between the oxide layer and the matrix is virtually flat.At the end of oxidation(100 h),the thickness of the oxide film is expanded,cracking and spalling occur,and the spalling form is intra-film spalling.At the same time,oxygen is mainly distributed in the oxide film and the oxygen content in the alloy substrate is reduced,confirming that the TiAl alloy has a certain oxidation stability at 900℃.From the outer surface of the oxide layer to the matrix,the TiO_(2) content increases and the Al_(2)O_(3) content decreases.Oxidation proceeds to completion in this system via the dissolution and diffusion of O atom.展开更多
The alloy performance to resist high-temperature oxidation is mainly determined either by the formation of oxide scales or by the deposition of oxide coatings on the surface of alloys.In the former case,a protective o...The alloy performance to resist high-temperature oxidation is mainly determined either by the formation of oxide scales or by the deposition of oxide coatings on the surface of alloys.In the former case,a protective oxide scale,such as Al_2O_3,Cr_2O_3 and SiO_2,can be selectively formed by adjusting the composition of alloys.Even if the oxide scale on the surface of alloys is spalled,new oxide can grow continuously,so the oxidation of alloys can be inhibited effectively.In the latter case,theoretically, depositing oxygen diffusion barrier oxide coatings,such as Al_2O_3,Cr_2O_3 and SiO_2,can prevent alloys from oxidation as well.However,the integrity of these oxide coatings can not maintain for a long time,owing to the thermal stress produced by the difference of the expansion coefficients between the oxide coatings and alloy substrates.Consequently,the ability to resist high-temperature oxidation by depositing such oxide coatings should be disappeared.Therefore,an oxide coating possessed both properties to act as an excellent oxygen diffusion barrier and match a suitable expansion coefficient with alloy substrate,is the basic conditions for the coating to maintain the ability to resist high-temperature oxidation of alloys. Based on above-mentioned idea,a novel composite oxide coating has been developed to obtain two kinds of functions,to act as an oxygen diffusion barrier and to adjust the expansion coefficient of coating as required.Figure 1 shows the schematic diagram of such novel oxide coating.This coating is composed of ZrO_2-8%Y_2O_3(YSZ) particles packaged by nano-Al_2O_3 film.The nano-Al_2O_3 film has a bubble-like structure,each YSZ particle is packaged in an Al_2O_3 bubble.Owing to YSZ is a good conductor for oxygen ions,so oxygen diffusion in this composite coating is determined by the walls of Al_2O_3 bubbles or the nano-Al_2O_3 film.If the thickness of all walls of Al_2O_3 bubbles in the direction perpendicular to the surface of alloy is over a critical value,the Al_2O_3 bubbles can act as an excellent oxygen diffusion barrier. Owing to YSZ has a high thermal expansion coefficient,so the thermal expansion coefficient of coatings can be easily increased by enhancing the ratio of YSZ to Al_2O_3 in these coatings. These composite coatings have been prepared by an improved sol-gel method.Firstly, YSZ particles packaged Al_2O_3 gel film were painted or deposited by electrophoresis on the alloy surface. Then,the specimens were treated by thermal pressure filtration to get primary coatings without cracks.Finally,the primary coatings were sintered in microwave furnace to obtain compact coatings. It is demonstrated from the result of cycling oxidation experiment that both of the hightemperature oxidation resistance and oxide spallation resistance are increased obviously with the ratio of YSZ to Al_2O_3 in the coatings,which are much superior to that of MCrAlY coatings.Therefore, these novel coatings can be used to protect various kinds of alloys from high-temperature oxidation,and can be also served as the interlayer in the thermal barrier coating system.展开更多

The corrosion and high-temperature oxidation characteristics of AM60 Mg alloy in different environments were investigated by immersion test,electrochemical polarizing analysis and differential thermal analysis(DTA)/th...The corrosion and high-temperature oxidation characteristics of AM60 Mg alloy in different environments were investigated by immersion test,electrochemical polarizing analysis and differential thermal analysis(DTA)/thermo gravimetric(TG) experiments. The influence of aging heat treatment on the corrosion resistance of AM60 Mg alloy was studied. AM60 Mg alloy shows better corrosion resistance in sea water than in 3.5%(mass fraction) NaCl solution. The corrosion resistance after aging for 24 h is better than that of both as-cast and aging for 48 h. Corrosion resistance of Mg alloy is controled by microstructure,composition of α-matrix. Precipitation of β phase along the grain boundaries acts as a barrier that decreases corrosion rate,whereas the decrease of aluminum content of α phase causes an increase in the corrosion rate. The DTA and TG curves of heating process in air are characterized with combustion after 590 ℃. When heated in helium,the curves show two endothermic peaks and a remarkable evaporation of magnesium. As for isothermal DTA and TG experiments,mass increment caused by oxidation does not happen till 520 ℃.展开更多

文摘This work investigated the effect of Cr and Si on the mechanical properties and oxidation resistance of press hardened steel.Results indicated that the microstructure of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel consisted of lath martensite,M_(23)C_(6)carbides,and retained austenite.The retained austenite and carbides are responsible for the increase in elongation of the micro-alloyed steel.In addition,after oxidation at 930℃for 5 min,the thickness of the oxide scales on the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is less than 5μm,much thinner than 45.50μm-thick oxide scales on 22MnB5.The oxide scales of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed steel are composed of Fe_(2)O_(3),Fe_(3)O_(4),mixed spinel oxide(FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)),and amorphous SiO_(2).Adding Cr and Si significantly reduces the thickness of the oxide scales and prevents the generation of the FeO phase.Due to the increase of spinel FeCr_(2)O_(4)and Fe_(2)SiO_(4)phase in the inner oxide scale and the amorphous SiO_(2)close to the substrate,the oxidation resistance of the Cr-Si micro-alloyed press hardened steel is improved.
文摘Satellited CoNiCrAlY–Al_(2)O_(3)feedstocks with 2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt% oxide nanoparticles and pure CoNiCrAlY powder were deposited by the high-velocity oxy fuel process on an Inconel738 superalloy substrate. The oxidation test was performed at 1050℃ for 5, 50, 100,150, 200, and 400 h. The microstructure and phase composition of powders and coatings were characterized by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction, respectively. The bonding strength of the coatings was also evaluated. The results proved that with the increase in the percentage of nanoparticles(from 2wt% to 6wt%), the amount of porosity(from 1vol% to 4.7vol%), unmelted particles, and roughness of the coatings(from 4.8 to 8.8 μm) increased, and the bonding strength decreased from 71 to 48 MPa. The thicknesses of the thermally grown oxide layer of pure and composite coatings(2wt%, 4wt%, and 6wt%) after 400 h oxidation were measured as 6.5, 5.5, 7.6, and 8.1 μm, respectively.The CoNiCrAlY–2wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating showed the highest oxidation resistance due to the diffusion barrier effect of well-dispersed nanoparticles. The CoNiCrAlY–6wt% Al_(2)O_(3)coating had the lowest oxidation resistance due to its rough surface morphology and porous microstructure.

文摘Ni-La2O3/CeO2 composite films were prepared by electrodeposition from a nickel sulfate bath containing certain content of micrometer and nanometer La2O3/CeO2 particles. The effect of La2O3 or CeO2 particle size on the oxidation resistance of the electrodeposited Ni-La2O3/CeO2 composites in air at 1000 °C was studied. The results indicate that, compared with the electrodeposited Ni-film, Ni-La2O3/CeO2 composites exhibit a superior oxidation resistance due to the codeposited La2O3 or CeO2 particles blocking the outward diffusion of nickel. Moreover, compared with nanoparticles, La2O3 or CeO2 microparticles have stronger effect because La2O3 or CeO2 microparticles also act as a diffusion barrier layer at the onset of oxidation.

文摘High-temperature oxidation is a common failure in high-temperature environments,which widely occur in aircraft engines and aerospace thrusters;as a result,the development of anti-high-temperature oxidation materials has been pursued.Ni-based alloys are a common high-temperature material;however,they are too expensive.High-entropy alloys are alternatives for the anti-oxidation property at high temperatures because of their special structure and properties.The recent achievements of high-temperature oxidation are reviewed in this paper.The high-temperature oxidation environment,temperature,phase structure,alloy elements,and preparation methods of high-entropy alloys are summarized.The reason why high-entropy alloys have anti-oxidation ability at high temperatures is illuminated.Current research,material selection,and application prospects of high-temperature oxidation are introduced.

文摘To improve the oxidation properties of ferritic heat-resistant steels,an Al-bearing 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al ferritic heat-resistant steel was designed.We then conducted cyclic oxidation tests to investigate the high-temperature oxidation behavior of 9Cr‒5Si and 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al ferritic heat-resistant steels at 900 and 1000℃.The characteristics of the oxide layer were analyzed by X-ray diffraction,scanning electron microscopy,and energy dispersive spectroscopy.The results show that the oxidation kinetics curves of the two tested steels follow the parabolic law,with the parabolic rate constant kp of 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al steel being much lower than that of 9Cr‒5Si steel at both 900 and 1000℃.The oxide film on the surface of the 9Cr‒5Si alloy exhibits Cr2MnO4 and Cr2O3 phases in the outer layer after oxidation at 900 and 1000℃.However,at oxidation temperatures of 900 and 1000℃,the oxide film of the 9Cr‒5Si‒3Al alloy consists only of Al2O3 and its oxide layer is thinner than that of the 9Cr‒5Si alloy.These results indicate that the addition of Al to the 9Cr‒5Si steel can improve its high-temperature oxidation resistance,which can be attributed to the formation of a continuous and compact Al2O3 film on the surface of the steel.
文摘The kinetic curves of the high-temperature oxidation of austenitic heat resistant stainless steel 1. 4828 at 1 050 ℃ were measured using a weighing method. It is shown that the oxidation curves at 1 050 ℃ followed the parabolic line law, and after 250 h of oxidation, the mass gain was about 80 g/m2. The surface morphology and structure of the oxide layers were studied by scanning electron microscopy and X-ray diffraction. A complicated oxide layer obtained at 1 050 ℃ was mainly composed, from inner to outer, of (FeSi) 3 04, Cr2 03, Fe2 03, and spinel oxides FeCr204 and NiMn204.
文摘To further improve the oxidation-resistance of materials and reduce the cost of grid plates in grate-kiln, a new kind of heat-resistant grid plate was developed. The microstructure of this grid plate with a life more than 18 months was studied by XRD, SEM and EDS techniques. The results show that high hardness, high intensity and good impact property make the new kind of heat-resistant grid plate and its oxide film have a higher resistance to deformation and abrasion at 900-1000℃ Besides, small grain size is beneficial to form a complete protective oxide film. The oxide film composed of SiO2 layer, Cr2O3 layer and Fe2O3 layer is rather thin and bonds closely with the backing. The forming of the chemical stable nickel-rich layer increases the density of Cr2O3 layer.

文摘3Gd2O3-3Yb2O3-4Y2O3 (mole fraction, %) co-doped ZrO2 (GY-YSZ) thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) were produced by electron beam physical vapor deposition (EB-PVD). The oxidation behavior of GY-YSZ at 1 050 ℃ was investigated using impedance spectroscopy (IS) combined with scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Raman spectroscopy and X-ray diffractometry (XRD). Various electrical responses observed in the impedance spectra corresponding to GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries were explained using circuit modeling. The change in the conduction mechanism of GY-YSZ was found to be related to the O^2- vacancy and lattice distortion due to the stabilizer diffusion during the oxidation. The results also suggested that the specific oxidation information about the GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries should be acquired at a moderate measurement temperature, which was related to the resistance value in the impedance spectra. The resistance values of the GY-YSZ grains and grain boundaries should be measured at 200 ℃ and 300 ℃, respectively.
文摘High temperature oxidation behaviors of FGH96 P/M superaUoy have been studied in air at temperatures ranging from 600 to 1000℃. By means of isothermal oxidation testing, X-ray diffraction, SEM (scanning electron microscopy), and EDS (energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy) analyses, the oxidation kinetics as well as the composition and morphology of scales were investigated. Thermodynamic calculations were used to explain the oxidation mechanism. The results showed that as the oxidation temperature increased, the oxidation rate, the scale thickness, and scale spallation increased. FGH96 P/M superalloy exhibits good oxidation resistance at temperature below 800℃. The oxidation kinetics follows an approximately parabolic rate law, and the oxide layer was mainly composed of Cr2O3 TiO2 and a little amount of NiCr2O4. The oxidation is controlled by the transmission of chromium. titanium, and oxygen through the oxide scale.

文摘High-temperature oxidation is an important property to evaluate thermal protection materials. However, since oxidation is a complex process involving microstructure evolution, its quantitative analysis has always been a challenge. In this work, a phase field method (PFM) based on the thermodynamics theory is developed to simulate the oxidation behavior and oxidation induced growth stress. It involves microstructure evolution and solves the problem of quantitatively computational analysis for the oxidation behavior and growth stress. Employing this method, the diffusion process, oxidation performance, and stress evolution axe predicted for Fe-Cr-A1-Y alloys. The numerical results agree well with the experimental data. The linear relationship between the maximum growth stress and the environment oxygen concentration is found. PFM provides a powerful tool to investigate high-temperature oxidation in complex environments.
文摘The effect of a sputtered Ti-48AI-8Cr-2Ag (at. pct) coating on the oxidation resistance of the cast Ti-46.5AI-5Nb (at. pct) alloy was investigated in air at 1000-1100℃. Hot corrosion in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4+25 wt pct K2SO4 was investigated at 900℃. The scale on the cast TiAINb tends to spall in air, while the scale on coating is very adherent. The sputtered Ti-48AI-8Cr-2Ag coating remarkably improved high temperature oxidation resistance of the cast Ti-46.5AI-5Nb alloy because of the formation of an adherent Al2O3 scale. Due to the inward diffusion of Cr, Kirkendall voids were found at the coating/substrate interface. TiAICrAg coating provided excellent hot corrosion resistance for TiAINb alloy in molten 75 wt pct Na2SO4+25 wt pct K2S04 at 900℃ due to the formation of a continuous Al_2O_3 scale.
文摘The oxidation resistance of 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N steel micro-alloying by RE at 700 - 900 ℃ was investigated. The results indicate that oxidation exponent n and oxidation activation energy are increased, and oxidation velocity constant kp is decreased when 0.2% RE is added in 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N steel. The addition of RE elements does not alter phase constitution of oxidation scale, however it improves the configuration of oxidation scale, and increases thermal stability and adhesivity of oxidation scale, which results in the raise of oxidation resistance of 5Cr21Mn9Ni4N steel at high temperature. The oxidation scale constitutes of refractory steel transfer from manganic oxide mostly to ferric oxide mostly with the increase of temperature, which leads to descend of compactness and desquamation resistance of oxidation scale. The mass increase of ferric oxide in the oxidation scale and the looseness of oxidation scale are the main reason to descend the oxidation resistance of refractory steel.
文摘A variety of experimental tracer diffusivities of Mg and O in magnesium oxide available in the literature were first assessed.Atomic mobilities including bulk and short-circuit diffusion of Mg and O were then obtained by means of the CALPHAD(Calculation of Phase Diagram)approach.Afterwards,the diffusion-controlled kinetic model of oxidation in a gas-MgO-Mg environment was developed based on the moving boundary model and Fick's law,coupling with the modified thermodynamic description of MgO.A mathematical expression for parabolic rate constant kp of the oxide scale was derived for magnesia and correlated with the thermodynamic and diffusion kinetic information.The evaluated kp results were in line with the experimental data.Finally,the oxidation process of pure magnesium at 673 K was model-predicted,and the predicted evolution of the oxide thicknesses agreed very well with the experimental data.It was indicated that the grain boundaries diffusion of magnesium cations predominated the high temperature oxidation process.
文摘Austenitic stainless steel Cr20 Ni12 Si2 RE was developed for use in hot-end components of automobile exhaust systems,especially in automobiles designed according to the China VI emission standard. The hightemperature oxidation kinetic curve of Cr20 Ni12 Si2 RE at 1 050 ℃ was obtained using the weighting method. The oxidation curves exhibit the parabolic law at 1 050 ℃; after 250 h of oxidation,the mass gain was 22 g/m^2. The morphology,structure,and composition of the oxide film were examined using scanning electron microscopy and Xray diffraction methods. A thin,stable,and dense spinel oxide film obtained after 250 h of oxidation at 1 050 ℃ was mainly composed of( Mn_(0.87)Fe_(0.13))( Mn_(0.13)Fe_(0.87)Cr) O_4 and Cr_2 O_3 with a silicon-containing oxide underneath. The addition of rare earth elements was found to restrict further diffusion of metallic atoms from the austenite toward the oxide film,and consequently,led to a low growth rate of the oxide film. The inner silicon-containing oxide was produced by the diffusion of oxygen atoms and enhanced the coherent strength of the oxide film.

文摘Y-modified Cr-Al coatings were co-deposited on DZ125 alloy by a pack cementation process,and the microstructures,constituent phases,and formation mechanisms of the obtained coatings were studied.The oxidation resistance of the coatings was also investigated.The experimental results show that the coating prepared by co-depositing Cr-Al-Y at 1050℃for 2 h has a multi-layered structure with an outer layer composed of Cr and Ni_(3)Cr_(2),a middle layer composed of Ni_(3)Cr_(2) and Al_(13)Co_(4),and an inner layer composed of Ni_(3)Al.The co-deposited Y is mainly present in the outer and middle layers of the coating.The coating formation process follows a sequential deposition mechanism in which Al is deposited during the initial stage,followed by Cr deposition.After oxidation at 1100℃for 100 h,a dense Cr_(2)O_(3)·Al_(2)O_(3) scale forms on the obtained coating,which effectively protects the DZ125 alloy from oxidation by preventing the inward diffusion of oxygen.

文摘The aluminide coating process of Ti-6Al-4V alloys with different fillers(100wt.% Al_2O_3,50wt% Y_2O_3+50wt.% Al_2O_3 and 100wt.% Y_2O_3) for improvement of the oxidation resistance were investigated.The results show that the filler does not only participate in the aluminizing process,but also has much effect on the coating composition.The XRD analysis reveals that the aluminide coating with filler Al_2O_3 is predominant with TiAl_3 and TiAl phases;while the aluminide coatings with filler Y_2O_3+Al_2O_3 are predominant with Ti_3Al phase.The oxidation kinetics shows that different fillers affect greatly the oxidation resistance of aluminide coating,and the oxidation resistance of aluminized specimens with pack aluminizing filler Al_2O_3 are about 5-8 times than that of the aluminized specimens with other pack aluminizing fillers.

文摘The oxidation behavior of the Ti-47.5Al-2.5V-1.0Cr-0.2Zr alloy at 900℃ was investigated at different oxidation times(5,20,60 and 100 h).The results show that the total weight gain of the alloy after 100 h at 900℃ oxidation is 9.1 g·m^(-2),and the oxidation rate decreases with oxidation time.The oxides on the alloy surface are mainly TiO_(2) and Al_(2)O_(3).At the beginning of oxidation(5 h),the oxide film is relatively complete,thin,and the interface between the oxide layer and the matrix is virtually flat.At the end of oxidation(100 h),the thickness of the oxide film is expanded,cracking and spalling occur,and the spalling form is intra-film spalling.At the same time,oxygen is mainly distributed in the oxide film and the oxygen content in the alloy substrate is reduced,confirming that the TiAl alloy has a certain oxidation stability at 900℃.From the outer surface of the oxide layer to the matrix,the TiO_(2) content increases and the Al_(2)O_(3) content decreases.Oxidation proceeds to completion in this system via the dissolution and diffusion of O atom.

文摘The alloy performance to resist high-temperature oxidation is mainly determined either by the formation of oxide scales or by the deposition of oxide coatings on the surface of alloys.In the former case,a protective oxide scale,such as Al_2O_3,Cr_2O_3 and SiO_2,can be selectively formed by adjusting the composition of alloys.Even if the oxide scale on the surface of alloys is spalled,new oxide can grow continuously,so the oxidation of alloys can be inhibited effectively.In the latter case,theoretically, depositing oxygen diffusion barrier oxide coatings,such as Al_2O_3,Cr_2O_3 and SiO_2,can prevent alloys from oxidation as well.However,the integrity of these oxide coatings can not maintain for a long time,owing to the thermal stress produced by the difference of the expansion coefficients between the oxide coatings and alloy substrates.Consequently,the ability to resist high-temperature oxidation by depositing such oxide coatings should be disappeared.Therefore,an oxide coating possessed both properties to act as an excellent oxygen diffusion barrier and match a suitable expansion coefficient with alloy substrate,is the basic conditions for the coating to maintain the ability to resist high-temperature oxidation of alloys. Based on above-mentioned idea,a novel composite oxide coating has been developed to obtain two kinds of functions,to act as an oxygen diffusion barrier and to adjust the expansion coefficient of coating as required.Figure 1 shows the schematic diagram of such novel oxide coating.This coating is composed of ZrO_2-8%Y_2O_3(YSZ) particles packaged by nano-Al_2O_3 film.The nano-Al_2O_3 film has a bubble-like structure,each YSZ particle is packaged in an Al_2O_3 bubble.Owing to YSZ is a good conductor for oxygen ions,so oxygen diffusion in this composite coating is determined by the walls of Al_2O_3 bubbles or the nano-Al_2O_3 film.If the thickness of all walls of Al_2O_3 bubbles in the direction perpendicular to the surface of alloy is over a critical value,the Al_2O_3 bubbles can act as an excellent oxygen diffusion barrier. Owing to YSZ has a high thermal expansion coefficient,so the thermal expansion coefficient of coatings can be easily increased by enhancing the ratio of YSZ to Al_2O_3 in these coatings. These composite coatings have been prepared by an improved sol-gel method.Firstly, YSZ particles packaged Al_2O_3 gel film were painted or deposited by electrophoresis on the alloy surface. Then,the specimens were treated by thermal pressure filtration to get primary coatings without cracks.Finally,the primary coatings were sintered in microwave furnace to obtain compact coatings. It is demonstrated from the result of cycling oxidation experiment that both of the hightemperature oxidation resistance and oxide spallation resistance are increased obviously with the ratio of YSZ to Al_2O_3 in the coatings,which are much superior to that of MCrAlY coatings.Therefore, these novel coatings can be used to protect various kinds of alloys from high-temperature oxidation,and can be also served as the interlayer in the thermal barrier coating system.

文摘The oxidation behaviors of Nb67-xW15Si18Hfx (x=0, 5, 10) alloys were studied at 1 250℃in air. It is found that the Nb67W15Si18 alloy has the best oxidation resistance among the three alloys; and Hf addition is harmful to the oxidation resistance of the Nb67W15Si18 alloy. The oxides formed on the Nb67W15Si18 alloy are mainly Nb12WO33 and NbO2, and that on the Nb62W15Si18Hf5 and Nb57W15Si18Hf10 alloys is Nb2O5. Effect of Hf on the oxidation behavior of the Nb67-xW15Si18Hfx alloys has been discussed based on microstructures and kinetics of oxidation.

文摘The corrosion and high-temperature oxidation characteristics of AM60 Mg alloy in different environments were investigated by immersion test,electrochemical polarizing analysis and differential thermal analysis(DTA)/thermo gravimetric(TG) experiments. The influence of aging heat treatment on the corrosion resistance of AM60 Mg alloy was studied. AM60 Mg alloy shows better corrosion resistance in sea water than in 3.5%(mass fraction) NaCl solution. The corrosion resistance after aging for 24 h is better than that of both as-cast and aging for 48 h. Corrosion resistance of Mg alloy is controled by microstructure,composition of α-matrix. Precipitation of β phase along the grain boundaries acts as a barrier that decreases corrosion rate,whereas the decrease of aluminum content of α phase causes an increase in the corrosion rate. The DTA and TG curves of heating process in air are characterized with combustion after 590 ℃. When heated in helium,the curves show two endothermic peaks and a remarkable evaporation of magnesium. As for isothermal DTA and TG experiments,mass increment caused by oxidation does not happen till 520 ℃.
