Complex systems like those that make up the human body have become incr...In 2006 anew biology curriculum called “Human Biology: Emphasizing the Role of Homeostasis” was introduced into the Israeli high school system. Complex systems like those that make up the human body have become increasingly important as a focus of high school education. This study examines the effectiveness of the concept map as a assessment tool for students’ systems thinking, a tool that provides researchers with a detailed picture of the systems thinking development taking place within individual students. The content of the students’ concept maps was translated into information about students’ system thinking using the Systems Thinking Hierarchy (STH) model, a model in which system thinking is categorized according to eight hierarchical characteristics or abilities. The goal was to use the maps to characterize Israeli high school students’ understanding of the body’s systemic nature. To do this, we identified the extent to which the students understand three central elements of systems, namely hierarchy, homeostasis, and dynamism, and then analyzed this understanding according to its place within the hierarchical stages of the STH model. The extensive qualitative data analysis of 48 concept maps made by 11th grade biology majors suggest that the strength of the concept map is in its ability to describe the first two levels of system thinking (analysis and synthesis). However, it proved less successful in eliciting evidence of the third and highest level, particularly of students’ understanding of patterns, of homeostasis and their capacity for temporal thinking.展开更多

Wavelet estimation based on higher-or...Seismic wavelet estimation is an important part of seismic data processing and interpretation, whose preciseness is directly related to the results of deconvolution and inversion. Wavelet estimation based on higher-order spectra is an important new method. However, the higher-order spectra often have phase wrapping problems, which lead to wavelet phase spectrum deviations and thereby affect mixed-phase wavelet estimation. To solve this problem, we propose a new phase spectral method based on conformal mapping in the bispectral domain. The method avoids the phase wrapping problems by narrowing the scope of the Fourier phase spectrum to eliminate the bispectral phase wrapping influence in the original phase spectral estimation. The method constitutes least-squares wavelet phase spectrum estimation based on conformal mapping which is applied to mixed-phase wavelet estimation with the least-squares wavelet amplitude spectrum estimation. Theoretical model and actual seismic data verify the validity of this method. We also extend the idea of conformal mapping in the bispectral wavelet phase spectrum estimation to trispectral wavelet phase spectrum estimation.展开更多
To objectively reflect the relevant situation of researches on think tank service of Chinese university libraries, this paper uses CNKI Database as the retrieval source, the bibliometric analysis method, and CiteSpace...To objectively reflect the relevant situation of researches on think tank service of Chinese university libraries, this paper uses CNKI Database as the retrieval source, the bibliometric analysis method, and CiteSpace, a citation network analysis tool, to make quantitative analysis on the literature data of researches on the think tank service of university libraries;draw the knowledge map of literature authors, organization distribution, keyword co-occurrence, research hotspot distribution, etc.;objectively and comprehensively analyzes the hot topics and cutting-edge trends of researches on the think tank service of libraries, the research includes the following aspects: First, the status quo and orientation of the existing university library think tanks in China;second, it is recommended to carry out research on policy support and system guarantee for university library think tank services;third, integrate big data technology is merged into the construction of university libraries think tanks;fourth, the transformation of library and information institutions to new types of think tanks, including the transformation of knowledge services, disciplinary services, and characteristic think tanks, in order to provide reference for researches and practical work of think tank service of libraries in China.展开更多

The adult subjects in-cluded 20 practitioners of concentrative Qigong, 30 Practitioners of non--concenthetive Qigongand 23 control subjects. The results showed frontal mid--line theta rhythm was related toconcentrative Qigong state. As the theta rhythm has been suggested to be one of the normal EEGPatterns occurring in mental concentration,it is concluded that the theta rhythm is an indicatorof mental concentration during Qigong state. This finding clarifies the implication of the thetarhythms appearing in Qigong and other meditation.展开更多
